basically, if a file is all together, your drive can read the entire file in one swoop of the reader, if the file is in two pieces, first it needs to read the first piece then move to the second piece, effectivly doubling the time. IF a file is in 10k pieces, well... do that math. Defagging your drive puts these files back in order. |
