Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image Working on another new outfit for Ruby (poor girl is starting to be my go to model for fashion lol), this one is for her Exterminatus Now counterpart. I’ve been a fan of the web comic for years, and believe it or not it helped inspire the basic designs for some of my own characters. I’ve tried to imagine what Team Eclipse would be like in the EN universe setting, and so far I got clear ideas for Ruby and Umbra. Just need to decide on a good look for Ruby right now, I can’t decide whether to retain her jacket or not, and can’t decide on a colour scheme for the outfit. I would love some advice or suggestions for this please if you feel like it. |

Added a few more colour options, I think I’ve decided on the bottoms, now its just the top I can’t decide. Help is welcome and wanted. Though many people seem to like the full black jacket over a shirt instead of a jumper with a sleevless jacket over it. Just trying different shirt colours, not entirely sure about the baige. Posted Image Part 2 of my Exterminatus Now artwork, this is Umbra as an Inquisitor, wearing the iconic black coat most of the Inquisition wears, displaying the Badge of Office and wielding a high tech, experimental gun powered by Omni Ring energy. I decided to keep this on simple compare to Ruby’s design and I think it worked. The gun design is inspired by some Sci-Fi pistol designs I’ve seen online. The idea is this Umbra does have the Omni Rings but he keeps them in a device that charges small batteries with “Holy Energy” that are then slotted into the gun to provide it with power and ammo. Currently thinking of names for it. |

Maybe you should make his boots a different shad or color from his trench coat? |

Posted Image I've a been a fan of the webcomic Exterminatus Now exterminatusnow.co.uk/ for years and only now decided to do some fan art of it. Meet Umbra and Ruby's counterparts in the EN universe as Field Operatives in the Mobian Inquistion E-Team. Funny thing is I based Umbra and Ruby's original designs off two side characters in the comic since I didn't know what a Sonic styled Wolf or Vixen would look like (wasn't aware of the Archie comics back then). http://exterminatusnow.co.uk/2003-11-07/co...ms-of-cultists/ http://exterminatusnow.co.uk/2003-11-24/co...rew/hello-boys/ Coming up with their back stories and personalities was tricky as the EN universe is more cynical, crude and silly than the regular Sonic universe but hopefully I manged to make them feel like they would belong in the comic. Name: Arundel, Ruby Species: Fox Affiliation: Inquisition Rank: Inquisition Field Operative Birthplace: (Need more information) Nationality: Meridian Armaments: Photon Inc. Mk.IV ‘Bravace’ Pulsed Particle Pistol Equipment: CABAL Unit Ruby is a studious Inquisitor who graduated top of her class in Daemonology, making her an expert in identifying most cults and daemon's at a glance. Formerly an agent of the Inquisition's Covert Operations, Ruby's knowledge of Cults and their traditions originally made her seem perfect for undercover work. This quickly changed after a an infiltration mission into a Soulthirster cult got botched up royally; the details were made classified to save the Inquisition's and Ruby's reputation so only she, the Council and Wayne the janitor know of it. Anyway the incident has now made Ruby a bit twitchy around Soulthirsters. Now made a normal Field Operative assigned to E-Team with her partner Umbra, she makes up the brains of the team, using her knowledge of Daemons to help give them an edge on missions. Ruby is an inquisitor that prefers caution and patience when dealing with a hostile situation, but is still able to bring the pain to evil when called for, or when Umbra gets on her nerves. She and her partner Umbra have a decent track record when it comes to mission successes, no where near as good as B-Team's but also with much, much, much less collateral damage than C-Team. She hasn't personally met Eastwood's team but she does know them by reputation, both the good and the bad. Side Note: Apparently Ruby is a big hit at the Inquisition's Karaoke Night. Name: Norris, Umbra Species: Wolf Affiliation: Inquisition Rank: Inquisition Field Operative Birthplace: (Need more information) Nationality: Meridian Armaments: Defiant Series ORSS Mk3 "Spell Slinger" Energy Pistol. Equipment: Defiant Series Omni Ring Power Battery. Coming from a long line of Inquisitor's, Umbra has a lot to live up to however he prefers to be his own kind of man and not be compared to his father or ancestors. He's pretty easy going and while not as book smart like his partner Ruby, he's very good at thinking on his feet out in the field. Most of his answers to daemons is to shoot first and ask questions later, but he does respect Ruby's expertise enough to at least wait for her to tell him where and what to shoot. He's also an expert on weapons and is very enthusiastic when discussing them with other weapon specialists, and is proud of his Spellslinger pistol. He and Ruby have a mutual respect for each other, though they would never admit it out loud, and they do get on each other's nerves from time to time. But they make a good team which may explain why they have yet to add additional members to E-Team as it may mess up the dynamic they have going (or it might be they don't want anyone interrupting their "Friends with Benefits" nights, it is a stressful job and everyone needs a release somehow). Umbra's signature weapon is the Spellslinger, an experimental energy pistol that was developed by the Inquisition to weaponise a pair of Holy Relics that belongs to Umbra's family; the Omni Rings. These rings, made of some kind of red gem stone, generate an endless supply of energy that scientists have identified as Holy, not Daemonic, and there are tales that say Umbra's ancestors once wielded these rings in their battles against daemons as only the pure of heart can use their powers. However with the modern age, being pure of heart is a rarity so this use for the rings has been loss for generations. Hoping to make a super weapon, the Inquistion used technology as a work around and after two failed prototypes (one being a War Hammer style weapon, the other being a tank) they developed the Pistol variant that uses power cells charged up by a Power Battery containing the Omni Rings. But due to budget restraints and the rings only usable by Umbra's family line, only one pistol was made which now belongs to Umbra. The Spellslinger can fire blasts of holy red energy that can be set to stun or kill, and the energy is more effective when used against daemons or corrupted mortals. But the blasts still need to hit something vital to kill someone just like any weapon. The pistol is powered by a rechargeable power cell that is good for 12 shots, so Umbra keeps 1 or 2 spares in his coat when it runs out. The powercells can be recharged by slotting them into the Power Battery that holds the Omni Rings which can take about an hour or two to fully recharge a cell. The Power Battery is portable and can be carried around using a handle on the top but due to how important the Omni Rings are Umbra leaves the Power Battery at home or on the Spectre for safety. Just don't compare it to a Green Lantern Power Battery, Umbra hates that joke. Side Note: Thinks Jamilla Townsend is super hot. Artist Notes: I wanted to keep Umbra's Omni Rings so thinking up a story for them in the EN universe took some thought, even more so when thinking up how to use them as a weapon. Originally I kept trying to design a weapon that had the rings built in, like dual guns that incased the rings but there was no way I could do it without it lookong silly. So I went with the high -tech pistol approach that uses power cells and the rings in a Power Battery idea. I also wanted the gun to have a "Cool" factor to it, the kind of gun that anyone who sees it in action would go "Where can I get me one of these?" kinda like Ronan's particle magnum from StarGate Atlantis. I did want to think of EN versions for the rest of Team Eclipse, Lunas and Rej, but since Lunas is an echidna that would be hard to pull off since the race is extinct except for Lothar Hex. As for Rej I was thinking he could be a Fallen Angel of the Technology god Gruss, who was banished to the mortal plane trapped in a robotic body for pulling too many pranks on the god Tyrus and can only return when he saves 1000 souls from corruption. 50 years later he's managed only 1 when the Inquisition finds him and decides having an angel (fallen or not) could be useful to them. But this idea takes a few leaps in logic concerning how the world of Exterminatus Now works so I'm not sure if this would be a good idea. |
