At least I don't get mugged.

Ah, Jujitsu one of the few actually useful martial arts.

I've yet to find a single one that isn't useful. It just depends on what your terminology of "useful" is. It's not all about fighting.

Good to hear you're going back, Fel. Our deathmatch shall prove...interesting. :P

I say we build a big metal dome for it.

I'm not precisely going back. I'm going somewhere new. But yes, it gives me something to do.

I need things to do, physically, besides going to work. Otherwise I'll die mentally. Eurgh.

And Retro, don't you know anything? It's a metal octagon ;D

And totally on subject; I restart jujitsu in a few days' time.

Stupidly excited.

How long had you been doing it before you stopped?

I studied Taekwondo for ages until I had to focus on school sports. Played Volleyball through Middle and High School but now at the Uni I only play for an intramural team.

Really looking to get back into martial arts, though. Not exactly sure which to pick up.

Lovely.

I studied the ancient British Martial Art of Boo-Tin -- that's about all the tactics I could handle.... :)

Problem I found with martial arts is that not many groups in the same area have the same affiliation, so every time I moved house or school, I had to start on the bottom rung again.

Put it on hold at uni, took up American Football, and promptly ended up with whiplash, nerve damage and neck/back damage after a particularly spectacular attempt to stop the nose tackle.

Ah yes the derivative of the Scottish 'Fook-yu'.
Of course much overlooked is the Italian Martial art of 'Ciao'-in which you give a leery smile, a little wave and run as fast as your legs can carry you.

Yeah, when I first did Taekwondoe as a kid, the club closed when I was close to blackbelt. I tried a different club but one, it wasn't as good and then they were like, "Yeah, you're doing everything wrong, including your stance." This was stuff that my old club said I was doing perfectly and combined with my stubborn streak, I got fed up quickly in the new club. So I quit and never came back.

Now I'm starting karate back up next time I go to uni since they've got a marshal arts school nearby. The trouble was that I joined before exams and I haven't been back in a while. I miss it to be honest, it made Monday and Thursday nights fun.

Yeah, not quite the athletic type, and the sports I play kinda show that. Golf, skeet/trap shooting, archery...

I used to do taekwondo. The fact that I've gotten an 1-dan black belt (with the official International TKD Federation certificate along with it) kinda shows that the place I went to was rather... lax with the requirements.

Who did you share the B&B room at Alton Towers with again?

And why did it not cause a local-newspaper-worthy incident?

Fun fact, our plants actually have bushfires as part of their natural life cycle.

Yes, even the plants in this country are trying to kill you.

So does California -- and one day the "ecologically-minded" shitheels who won't let the state conduct controlled burns will learn that....
