And they're off.

Sunderland was a safe Labour seat, so no surprises there.

C4's Coverage would be improved with the removal of Come Fucking Dine With Me. Or at least, having Gyles Brandreth on it. Everyone loves Gyles.

Agreed.

Also the relatively new official RIM Blackberry Twitter application is incredibly good considering the ones I had tried.

And the only reason I'm here posting on the forum is because I can't be fucked watching Come Dine With Me.

I'm more surprised of the news that people were unable to vote in various places.

Wonder who's going to be the loser there? Then again I voted at 10 AM.

Easy adjustment to the rules.

Queues close at 10pm. Anybody who comes after that should really have planned their day better.

I didn't know there were that many types of political parties.

Green Party, UK Independance Party, English Democrats, British National Party, Christian Party, tons of independants and other even smaller parties.

So yeh, alot.

Now curse whenever you see the BNP get several hundred votes at each area.

UK politics seem to have the ridiculous complexity of US politics, combined with the boring irrelevance of Aussie politics.

Eh, it's not so complex when you remember one simple rule.

The money plays.

You reminded me of the interview during BBC's coverage of the election of Ashcroft with Paxman interviewing and dodging every single question on him not paying tax.

I'm more surprised of the news that people were unable to vote in various places.

Sounds like more blind adherence to unnecessary rules, like 90% of the news items folks post here.

In the US, folks running the polling places generally get a bit of leeway -- for ex., if there's a queue out-the-door-and-down-the-block, the Pollsters are permitted to stay open until everyone's had their shot. (Oregon doesn't have this problem -- *all* voting is by-mail....)

Politics: The Universal Spectator Sport for Masochists.

There's a reason I don't stock up on alcohol during the political season...there's just no way I could possibly buy enough...

Managed to avoid the results this morning until after lectures were over, so I could watch the downloaded C4 Alt. one just now. The show was alright, but some was horribly scripted.

I've also got nothing against Brian Cox, but it was a fresh reminder why I avoid watching him: it's impossible for him not to smile at any given time, it just un-nerves me to see the constant simpering look he has. Especially when telling us in fantastic ways we'll all die.

And now I've got to find a new version of YHBW to download since they cut it up unto little chunks. Bleh.

Another bad thing about missing election night: having to wade through hours and hours of tweets that reference NOTHING to organise them all.

Bah-I made it clear I was covering it via Twitter. Trying to whip them into something legible is the challenge.
