You know those t-shirts I ordred from Think Geek, costing me £30 including delivery? ups attempted delivery yesterday but I wasn't in so they left a notice and I'm getting charged an extra £17.54 for fucking import and tax charges!

This never happened to East but apparently he used DHL.

Fucking cunts. It's a good thing I have next tuesday off work or I would have had to drive twenty fucking minutes to bloody Sedgefield to pick it up, and STILL pay them.

Wankers. Never using UPS ever again.

I think that's because they may have listed it as a "gift" for it to be duty free. Then some bored bastard opened it up and saw an invoice.

I had to pay 15 bucks for DHL for having something sent over the border. I wasn't happy. An $80 order became $120 due to dollar conversion, delivery choice and delivery.

Think Geek is a real rip-off.

Speaking of bogus charges, I got the deposit (I paid £200 in total) from my first year student accommodation back today. We all got £18 deducted for general repairs (fair enough, stuff did get broken).

The thing that's wrong with this is that I had bought a new chair at the start of the year for my desk (far, far superior than the plastic high-school style chairs we were given). It was fabric with padding, and being quite a large, sturdy chair, I had no way of taking it home, fair enough, it'd only cost £15, and had served me well from October to June. As both a result of impracticality and goodwill for the next student to take the room, I left it at my desk.

I've been deducted £10 for "Cleanliness - Removal of abandoned chair".

Now, I know that the room had to go back the way it was: all my personal stuff removed, furniture in the same place I'd left it. But it's a chair. They'll have just replaced it with a new, worse chair. I've rang up the uni, and the guy on the other end of the phone did sympathise with me, but it's the policy of the cleaners they hire to do all the accommodation, not the uni themselves. So, he rang the cleaners, asked about the chair, then rang me back. They've scrapped the chair, because of "company policy", and hence can't refund my money. I was told the guy on the other end didn't even sound like this entire thing was absurd either.

It's not the £10 I'm annoyed about (and I personally thought we'd be getting back a lot less), it's just the principal of the matter: the completely dodgy logic they've used to squeeze money from us. You know, I bet they haven't even scrapped it. I bet some weasely guy's sat on my chair in his office filled with other student's stuff that he's been paid to take.

I've heard them called alot of things, but never that.

I could contribute some more recent purchases, but they're all firearms related and I don't know If I'd get baninated for discussing them.

Not really. Never had a problem with them. The only charges from DHL I get are VAT charges, which are barely more than a few pounds and are sent to me six months down the road.

UPS and Parcel Force are the real con-artists.

Well Pix, Uni halls can be fuck nuts about this kinda thing. We threw a knife through a wall, set fire to a carpet, Put out a fire window...and got charge for none of that. But we did get charged for the replacement of a fire extinguisher WE NEVER EVER USED.

Odd buggers.

I've heard them called alot of things, but never that.

Well, for one, it looks like the body of a banjo; and for another, the best-known
example of the type comes from a Soviet submachine gun known as "Stalin's
Banjo", but more-commonly referred to as "burp gun:

The Raider is kind of weirdly built, the big drum goes off to the side when you'd think hanging below would be more convenient. I suppose it might get in the way of the pump mechanism... I've taken to holding it sideways.

Never held or played Nerf. It's an aspect of child or adult fun I have missed out sadly.

Neither have I until today. That gun up there cost me a tenner. I love the way after reloading the cylinder, you can give it a spin and flick it back into firing position, cock it, and then say "Step out of the shadows."

Or maybe that's just me.

Ah, you've discovered the joys of the Maverick. Apparently that's their best-seller. I think it's their coolest one in terms of aesthetics but I gave mine to my little brother.

I bought the bigger ones mainly on impulse, and also because they're really hard to find down here. The Raider actually came out early before it was due for release in the US. I can't resist buying anything that's rare or hard to find, especially if it's at a decent price.

The fact you've gone and bought a firearm, albeit a Nerf one, is terrifying.

To be fair, it was my parents talking about their impending divorce that got me a bit down, causing me to spend that tenner on the gun.

Yeah........

Yeah, but you can't jump through the air while duel wielding an assault rifle as dove fly around you.

Actually, you can in Stranglehold and WET and prob a few other titles. Also plenty of films. Austin Powers' Goldmember.

Don't say that, else you'll become desensitised to it, and then it won't cause sudden massive increases in TF2 sniping skill.

I never got the point of Nerf, there's no fear of getting shot. My friend loaded an entire clip/barrel/whichever into me without so much as a flinch, so we decided to move onto BB guns with firing-range glasses. Then it was a lot more rewarding to get off a hit, and so much more rewarding when you manage to pin them, and fire off point-blank range shots into any bare skin that was available. XD
