Marvel's movie licenses are all over the place- which is why we're seeing such varying quality (see: X-men, Spider-man) and less crossovers. Disney's acquisition should help this if anything- now they have a guaranteed distributor for their films. Note that some of the most liked and successful Marvel movies, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, were made by Marvel Studios after the rights reverted back. Despite everyone's irrational claims, Disney isn't the type to mess with a good thing, and they probably see the logic in letting Marvel Studios do their thing.

Well Ang Lee's "Hulk" was arse, while the reboot "The Incredible Hulk" was much better. Both Fantastic 4 films were equally arse as Hulk, if not moreso, so here's hoping.

Agreed -- both _F4_s were so lame they qualified for disabled-access passes; and
Ang Lee knows as much about comic books as I do (which is to say: Not Much). So
short of handing _F4_ to Joel Schumacher.... ("Why is The Human Torch in Day-Glo?")

This. And I'd assumed this was the norm from now on, but Fox still owns the rights to Fantastic 4? I don't have any particular attachment to the characters, always thought they were on the lamer end of the Marvel spectrum. But it still would have been nice to keep them in-house and have a chance at a half-decent movie.

Last I heard, they're looking at making a F4 reboot... that's 'more like Dark Knight'.

Yeah, no hope on that front. It's the 90's all over again.
