So that sounds like what's gonna happening; people travelling Sunday, hit the park 10am Monday. Does everybody have a place to stay? Will everyone be there for opening time Monday?

I'll be staying in Manchester on Sunday night, and set off from there by car. Also my brothers are coming.

If Drew's all right with that arrangement, we'll be there on Monday 10am.

Right, so that should be four of us sorted.

East, it's your car. Outline on the thread who you're going to be picking up, where, and when, then change that plan until it suits everyone who wants to travel in your car, or until it inconveniences any of you to the point where another alternative would be better.

What's the earliest you can get to boro on a Sunday, we'd drive down then, have the day in the park on monday, and drive back monday afternoon and you could kip at my place on monday night.

Hmm, by the looks of it the earliest I could get to Boro on a Sunday is about 10-ish. Of course, you can never really trust the sodding Arriva timetables...

Sunday, will be picking up Jeff, Silv, and Feldoon. Staying the night on the Sunday. Possibly on the Monday night if there's no opposition. Otherwise, intention is to pick up Feldoon, Jeff, then Silv, then head to our accomadation. Not including breaks, it should take six (!) hours.

You three, any opposition to spending two nights? It stops me going mad behind the wheel.

SSo, what are we gonna do for accommodation? I doubt Drew and I need to stay more than one night, though not bothered if you feel otherwise mate. But if there's 4 of you staying 2 nights means room sharing is gonna be odd.

Anyone got any hotels picked out, obviously be nice if we could be all in the same place. But I'd rather not have to pay more than £40-50 for a hotel.

I'll have to book the day off work. And presume the trains work on Sunday. If we're doing it that way, I'll nip on an early train Sunday.

EDIT: Yeah. Earliest train is 8:05 AM. And it won't get to Shenfield until 11:10.

Late start for us?

A family room (4 adults) costs £120 (Room Only) at the Splash Landings Hotel on the 6th Sept. Which people are strapped for cash?

Feldoon: considering we're going to the park on Monday, no? Unless you're on about your pickup with East?

That's what I mean, we only have 6 people who need hotels confirmed. Anyone else going yet? Money's not really a problem for me personally, but I'd rather not pay an arm and a leg.

Me going depends on how much it would cost per person as I'm one of those where money becomes a problem at a point.

Oh get your arse on the dole, Silv :P

Jeff, you're looking at £15 for the park ticket (using the 2for1 coupon), and £30 a night per person if you share 4 to a hotel room.

Pix, did you double check the expiry date on those coupons?

Yep, they all expire on the 31st October, and the attraction-specific restrictions for Alton Towers were all in August.

If someone sleeps on the hotel room floor but chips in with the price, you can all get it down a bit. Not sure if it's allowed, though. Who's going to find out, anyway?

Could always let someone else drive for a bit but I suppose the whole reason you're taking them is because they can't.

So just tell them to stop singing. :P

Not sure how lax car laws are in Aus, but I doubt East is paying for insurance that lets anyone drive his car.

...Wuss... That's nothing!

My parents would do 14 hours strait, from Oromocto New Brunswick to Gananoque Ontario in a tiny Chevy Sprint, packed to the gills with luggage, and the two of us growing girls.

That is (depending on the route) anywhere between 1090 KM and 1360 KM, if not more.

That's roughly 677.32600 to 845.10400 Miles give or take a bit.

That is the equivalent of going from the very tip of Scotland to the absolute bottom of England and back again (or so says WikiAnswers, and everyone knows what that's like.

A long trip is this: To go from Edmonton, Alberta to Ottawa, Ontario by coach bus? Three days, virtually non-stop. It's a 54 hour trip. I've done it. ROUND TRIP. And I enjoyed it. Yes, I have masochistic tendencies.

Again, I give you a good natured Canuck "WUSS!!" :P

I Can Top That.

Omaha, Nebraska - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - Albuquerque, New Mexico - Deming,
New Mexico: 1,231 miles (1,973 km) in 18 hours. No stops save for fuel; food eaten
on the move.

Oh, by the way: This is in December -- the dead of winter, in the US Midwest.
(Weapon of choice: '84 Chevy full-size 4x4 pickup -- the one with the side-mount
fuel tanks, no less.... >:) )

On the way up to Darwin and back, my dad spent six hours a day behind the wheel for three weeks. Any more and he'd probably go nuts, especially without someone to talk to. And the air con broke on the way up and didn't get fixed til Darwin. And when we got there half the place was on fire.

That was an awesome holiday.

Nah, we got caught in a huge storm just after we crossed the border into NT.

We also happened to arrive during the build-up, the hottest week of the tropical year.

And on the way back down, it rained all the way from Port Augusta onwards.

I love this country.

That's something for someone who hasn't been driving for a year, and has been on motorways only a few times.

Also, in a car. With Feldoon. Six hours. I doubt anyone would last six minutes.

Regardless, jeff, Silv, Feldoon, I need to know what's going on in regards to accomadation and how many nights. I need to know this by Sunday.

Who is staying in a hotel?
How many nights?
