Check through your 20ps, if they're the new ones but don't have a date on them, you'll get £50 for handing it in.

It's quick to check: it'll only be ones with the new (portion of the shield) design on the front, of which you'll probably only have a couple, and then just check heads for a date. Spread 'em out, new one's will be shinier as well.

If you work on a till, spend a bit of time on a break going through them as well.

...you UK people and all of your coins... I thought having a six coin mix of toonie, loonie, quarter, dime, nickel, and penny were bad for making my purse heavy!! Oh no, you guys have to go with the eight coin mix of 2 pound, 1 pound, 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p, 1p! I think you can get rid of the 2p and the 20p coins; that would make things easier! :D

Virus laughed at me when I was over there using the local currency, because I accidentally kept about 5 pounds worth of 20p coins without realizing it.

Hey! They were about the size of Canadian dimes, and easy to overlook! >_< That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! :P

A fifty-five pence coin? Sauce plz? I remember the £5, it's legal tender, but I've never seen one, and I doubt they circulate.

No amount of Googling could find me a 55p coin. I tried quickly before, but a longer search yielded nothing.

I've seen a few £5 coins, but they're all in collections. There's quite a few about (many printed for special occasions), but a lot less than that total are in circulation.
