Artists in my opinion should limit themselves to paper and canvas.

Really? Because I use a tablet and a computer. The comic for 13th of June didn't touch a sheet of paper at any point during its production.

I'm sorry but to my mind comics count as literature, and I consider monuments to be unconnected with art as they're more structures, music also isn't art it's... well music.

Well gee. If this is how you feel, then we might as well go around the Internet, and try to get all of the webcomics off the net. Get rid of every comic book in the world, every movie, every novel, every sort of piece of literature, tear down all the statues, monuments, buildings, architectures... hey, we can even work on banning music. No, better yet, let's go through all of our cookbooks, and rip out each and every single recipe so that we may all die of starvation. Would that make you happy? The world will be much, much more miserable, but hey, at least art will stick to its papery home.

Face it, artwork isn't just limited to stuff made on a canvas like the Mona Lisa. Almost anything can be considered artwork. If you make something, and people can admire it, if they can like it, if they enjoy it, then it's art. Think of all the great movies that the world has seen. All the awesome video games you've played. Sculptures and statues like Venus de Milo. I mean, crap, if this is how you feel about art, then you might as well ignore just about almost everything in the world.

You are pushing at an open door, my argument has already been proved invalid-by you for that matter. Yes I have conceded the point.

Let me get a few thousand leeches.

But yeah, making disparaging, ignorant remarks about art in general on a forum run by four artists and populated by many more is even dumber than said remarks.

four artists

I'm curious as to who they are, because as far as I've never met a writer who described himself as an artist without being a toolbox.

And then you've got me.

Im sure your obsession with fire allows you to turn The incineration of objects into an art?

Since dance is an artform, East's constant cries of "Do the Burny Dance!" surely cause for a title of 'Art Director'.

Yes, as I recall, Isambard Kingdom Brunel built one.
It was as big as a cottage and took three stout men to keep the boiler stoked.

Actually, it was quite a bit bigger than that:

I might be a little late to the party on this thread but still, that looks amazing - I'd probbably want one if it wasn't so big that it scared me upon waking from nightmares.

Just curious but is there any good steampunk fiction that could be reccomended?

Jules Verne and H.G. Wells are all I can think of off the top of my head.

They're not exactly steampunk, they wrote before steampunk was invented. :P

Yes, but they are considered two of the biggest influences on the modern steampunk genre. That and if the shoe fits, wear it.

Just I find the whole steampunk genre to be kinda quaint given that it's basically retro sci-fi. Not that that makes it any less awesome.

Why no mention of tribalpunk?

Presumably for the same reason there's been no mention of badgers, or pickled onions.

I'd be 'shopping a certain badger into something a little more steampunk if I weren't so tired right now. Just imagine it yourselves, the staff's got a huge cog at the top, his eye's a rusty brown, and he's wearing brass goggles over the top. There. Ha ha.

...neither should, they're pretty mundane things. Just for the sake of it, I too have had a pickled onion and perused some badgers.

The brain that isn't "arty" what you would put in it would be Artyness.
