Video refuses to load for me. Clicking it gets me to this page, which presumably means it's a country filter.

Browsed some more of that guy's site, and to say he's a bit right wing is an understatement. He's even got a countdown for when Obama leaves office in some 1300 days on his front page. Slightly worrying if you're a regular visitor there, Quill.

Given Quillian has linked to such gems as Jihadwatch without a trace of irony, I think worrying is the correct response.

Pix: I only linked to that because it was the very first thing I found it at. I'm sure it's at the Onion's own site or on YouTube.

Wait... how the heck would you know whether or not I am a regular visitor? Or anyone, for that matter?

East: Worrying? It's worrying that I look at various sites (some of which you don't look at) because I'm tolerant and open-minded?

(Oh, and by the way, East, if I recall correctly, I never linked to or ever mentioned JihadWatch on these forums before; you did.)

The matter at hand, please? This funny Onion video about some Apple product?

Tolerance means putting up with people you don't agree with, but I'm not sure what it means when someone actively seeks out things they need to be tolerant towards. I'd rather not be a masochistic blog-browser.

Video-link for non-US residents.

...can't really say I found it humourous, to be honest. I can see what it was doing, and it's been done before. A lot of hate on Apple over the years for simplicity, and a chunk of it justified, but generally just a pointless jibe. Can't remember the last time I stumbled upon something genuinely witty on The Onion.

How coincidental, I just found this bit of actual news regarding Apple...

http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20090620/ap_..._ceo_transplant
Quote:

NEW YORK -

Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs, who has been on medical leave for undisclosed reasons since January, received a liver transplant two months ago in Tennessee but is recovering well, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

The newspaper didn't specify a source for the report, which comes as Jobs is said to be preparing to return to work.

Apple spokesman Steve Dowling declined to comment Saturday on whether Jobs had a liver transplant. But he said in a statement that "Steve continues to look forward to returning to Apple at the end of June and there is nothing further to say."

Jobs, 54, disclosed in August 2004 that he had been treated for a form of pancreatic cancer.

But the gaunt appearance of the charismatic co-founder of Apple last year fueled speculation that he could be suffering from a severe medical condition. On Jan. 5, he said that he had a treatable hormone imbalance and that he would continue to run the company.

The following week, however, Jobs went on leave for medical issues he said were "more complex" than he had thought. Apple's chief operating officer, Tim Cook, took over daily duties.

Jobs' health is a concern for investors because of the influence he has had in shaping Apple's products and design choices. Jobs regained control of the company in 1997.

The Journal said in Saturday's editions that the type of cancer Jobs had can metastasize in other organs, according to William Hawkins, a doctor specializing in pancreatic and gastrointestinal surgery at Washington University in St. Louis.

The paper quoted Hawkins as saying liver transplants to treat metastasized neuroendocrine tumors are controversial because livers are scarce and the procedure's efficacy hasn't been proved.

(This version CORRECTS Dowling's first name to Steve.)

I've been thinking of getting an iPod, since the iRiver has all the annoyances of Apple software but without the reliability and my cheap Chinese player died on me, but every time I look at the price tag...

Meh -- _Dilbert_ did this joke *years* ago. Dilbert goes to a computer store where the
computer offered is so completely pre-set, "there's only one button, and we press it
*before* it leaves the factory", says the salesdrone.

Also intended as a piss-take on Apple.

The way the costs add up I may as well pay a guy to walk around behind me all day with a boom box.

No you haven't.

You can think.

Getting an iPod can be on your mind.

But they're mutually exclusive.

Fixed that for you, old boy.

Seriously though, they do make solid, quality products. Just ones that are horribly overpriced. Case right now would be the iPhone 3GS. I'd quite like one, as a phone it has ample bells and whistles to amuse me. However, the cheapest version on Pay As You Go (From O² only, given the terrible exclusivity contract) costs in the region of £350. If you get it on the minimum 24 month contract, it'll end up costing you around £800 over a two-year period.
