Scheduled for a possible Christmas release, it's the first Legend of Spyro movie. It was mentioned back in 2007, but I guess the rumors were true.

Plot:

A special dragon egg was hidden in a woodland full of dragonflies by Ignitus to save it from evil forces that were hunting it. Brought up alongside Sparx, Spyro is led to believe that he himself is a dragonfly who just happens to be slightly bigger and purpler than the other dragonflies.

Until one day when the village is attacked and Spyro is found. Instinctively using his unknown powers, Spyro realises just how different he is. Confused and upset, he learns that he is not in fact a dragonfly, but a dragon who carries the role of being part of a great prophecy that will bring peace to all the land.

Spyro, along with his trusty sidekick Sparx pursue this epic adventure and attempt the impossible; the demise of the deadly Dark Master. However, between them stands Cynder, a very powerful black dragon powered by the red crystal around her neck, which enslaves her to the Dark Master.

Probably because apparently the author liked it; it's just the fans that hated it.

No doubt that producer was egotistical.

So it's basically Disney's Dinosaur, with dragons.

Well I'm excited.

I can see why: they're mostly movies that a) bombed spectacularly, or b) are only worth 5 bucks as a direct-to-video offering...

Yeah. Totally skip-able.

Anyone of them have a part in the writing of Garfield? Cause I would totally watch it if they do.

Well I'm excited.

Don't judge a book by the books next to it.

I Will watch it. I probably won't like it, unless its like tomb raider: the films ok, but gives rise to some great next gen-games.

Any way screw the director, who's acting/voicing?

Same as the game then.

P.S.
Hey just so you know I'm not like a twilight fan, There are bits of Spyro that are too much,- A hero's tale for instance- for me. So I more like a hardcore TR fan.

Well, I'll wait an see. I enjoyed the TLOS games more than the original trillogy (honestly, the first game in the series SUCKED), so that's a plus for me, though, I'll wait and see. Not that any relation to Eragon means anything to me, I hear the book wasn't very good either.

...get the hell off the internet. There were no games beyond Spyro 3. And Eragon gets a bit too much flak I think, I found it entertaining, if predictable. The book that is, not going near the movie.

The quality of The TLOS games is hotly debated as it is. A movie will only make things more heated.

Note: I personally enjoyed the games.

I'd rather ignore the existance of the 'originally trilogy' myself. The first game was bad enough to turn me off playing the other two.

Kidding? Hell no. Not that I'd like to derail this topic, but the first Spyro game was boring, plagued with shoddy controls, had one of the most generic and uninspired visual styles I have ever seen, the diagloue wasn't remotely funny except for perhaps the opening cutscene and that was more of a WTF, Spyro was an unlikable brat, and the game was another Mario 64 clone that missed the fun mark by a country mile. In short, it was an utter bore. Considering how a good part of the Spyro fanbase holds the original three in such high esteem, I was expecting a lot better. Nostalgia Filter, anyone?

So... Yeah.

Did Spyro even get enough of a fanbase to warrent a film? I thought the spyro franchise kinda disappeared after the world moved to the PS2.

It obviously exists, if the games have actually sold well enough to warrant sequels. However, it's currently a divided one, mostly due to a combination of They Changed It Now It Sucks, Ruined FOREVER, and Love It or Hate It.

Try playing the original series again, and then play Enter the Dragonfly. There's a reason the fanbase doesn't even acknowledge the non-PS1 games.

Plus, for a lot of Sonic fans, what happened to the series hits a little close to home.

I am very much aware that EtD was Sonic 06-level shit, that, and the games before the reboot are probably what caused the reboot in the first place. Then the reboot occured, and the fanbase got split into the "Love it or Hate it" camps. Though, the TLOS games are getting better with each installment, I love Dawn of the Dragon thanks to its co-op, something rather rare in beat-em-up games these days even though it was once a staple of the genre. The free-flight mechanic is neat, too, about bloody time.
