i really hope this will be as good as it sounds. the best concept and some sweet art are hampered by the words 'straight to dvd'.

Technically speaking if it's set 14 years after the novel the whole world wouldn't have the Martian technology. IIRC the Martians at that time, had only invaded the UK because they were the world power at the time. They hadn't had the time to attack everywhere, so only the UK would have the tech...and we wouldn't be sharing. We'd be using it.

There's a few spin-offs detailing the invasion of the rest of the world, as the intention was to conquer all of Earth. The best of these is perhaps Global Dispatches.

So basicly like Independence Day but without all the "America saves the day" bullshit.

Looks and sounds fairly close to Scarlet Traces to me, now I always said that would make a truly kick-arse movie!

For fuck's sake, we can't even get a movie version of the actual novel into the
theatres -- of course, this is going straight-to-video.

The one decent factor about movies being so heavily computerized any more -- in
about twenty years, theatres will be effectively dead, and Whollyweird will soon
follow suit.
