A lot of the main-stream MTV teens don't have the maturity and good taste that most of us here on the forum have.

Maturity? Really?

What forum Have I been reading where we discuss in equal measure insanity, Cartoons and all things: Giant Sharks, Steampunk War of the worlds and Anything Pixar (To name a few from the forum page)

XD

But yeah average MTV Viewer = Stupid
Twilight = On par With Eragon in the Rate of Fail
This forum = Awesomexplosion

It's true, we do have our moments (fish puns, limb puns, doing the Time Warp), but in all honesty, this is one of the most intelligent forums I've seen.

It's mostly due to the admins not having a high thresh-hold for stupidity.

That, and there aren't any juvenile flame-wars that happen. There is actually a lot of thought put into each post (unless it's a joke one). And you people can WRITE, cohesively and coherently. You have grammar and syntax! It's very refreshing to see...

That's one of the reasons why I've stayed as long as I have!

:D

And just like there can be a way to use anthropomorphic animal characters intelligently, there's a way to read these books and see these movies without hating them. (Namely, by avoiding the hardcore fans, which is usually a very good idea in ANY medium.)

If there's one thing I've learned about the internet, it's that nothing is ever as good as it is praised to be or as bad as it is made out to be. Nobody has a moderate opinion on anything on the 'Net. I try to be that voice of moderation wherever I can.

XKCD does sort of the same thing.

Oh my appreciation of the Series (or lack therov) is nothing to do with the fans... I just think the Books and the Film is utter trite, with a female lead who would do anything for her Man without any thoughts for herself

I just can't stand the creatures. I know, everyones probably already gone off an a homo rant or something about their "sparklies", but really, which vamps are more bad-ass and troubled?

1. The vampire who was forced to kill for his own survival only realizin too late that in exchange his entire humanity was taken away and now leads a tortured existence with only the briefest of human contacts being to either kill/challenge anyone foolish enough to cross him, until he eventually meets his fate at the hands of a skilled hunter,

OR!

2. A whiney, prissy, snivelling buggerer who constantly complains that he has the skin of a killer and no one likes him, despite the obvious companionship he keeps and the fact that every other girl sees him as moderately attractive, and for some unknown reason, drinks animal blood, which probably only scares PETA.

The former, obviously. But I found a story about the latter tolerable.

It's a bit hypocritical, because while I don't care for the ultra-sanitized vampires, I really do like the ultra-sanitized werewolves. Yes, you can probably make better allusions to the soul's inner darkness with a hideous Hyde unleashed by a full moon. But how is it not cooler to just turn into a wolf at will?

I'd much rather turn into something more practical, such as a bicycle, or an electric toothbrush.

That's just because you want to be ridden and put in someone's mouth.

OH NO HE DIDN'T!

Seriously, though, I have a bit of a problem with the werewolves too, though this one is more nitpicking than anything else to be honest.

HOW THE GOOD LIVING HELL DOES A PERSON TURN INTO A WOLF AND BACK TO A HUMAN!

I mean, I'm no expert on biology, but I'm pretty sure that the human body can't exactly revert all that growth in the space of a few minutes, otherwise you'd be faced with crippling physical defects! Even better, the body requires massive stores to keep you growing until you're 18! Suddenly you have enough body fat and energy to give you the ability to sprout hair all over your body, while make massive rewrites to your musculature and skeleton? It just makes no freaking sense, it'd be saner if the sandvich started killing the heavy, or Bin Laden was found this morning (US time), or even the US Congress actually getting someting done!

In case it's not obvious, I'm American and have a HUGE chip about Twilight.

Ah come on, I'm sure Twilight can be criticised for many things (wouldn't really know, it's barely in my periphery), but biology-defying mass change isn't a legitimate reason. At least werewolves are supernatural and not claimed to be based in science, like the Hulk or various Resident Evil creatures.

With the Andalite technology of the Escafil device, of course.

As the others mentioned, man, if you need everything grounded in reality, you should probably stay away from speculative fiction as a whole.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm willing to sacrifice science if the story is good. Seriously, I can stand stuff like the LotR films, and...well, actually, that's pretty much it. Really, I can't say I'm that big a fan of fantasy.

But even then, I'm sure there's a bunch better movies than...this...out there in the fantasy category. Any suggestions?

Dear sweet Jesus, 5 awards? At least it was only the MTV awards and not something worth while.
And all that merchadise, I've never seen one franchise sell out so fast. Twilight bandages? Whats next? Twilight toilet paper?
