Has anyone else seen this film? I was told about by a friend and can honestly say it's one of the most bizzare things I've ever watched. After a spate of organ failures world wide one company rises up to claim dominace of the world, financing the vital surgeries people need to survive. However should you fail to pay them back then organ repossesion is your fate.

Anthony Stewart Head is brillant in this and the rest of the cast are equally awesome.
Strangely it also stars Paris Hilton who....does a good job. If only for that surealist moment it really needs to be seen. Soundtrack is interesting too-ranging from actual opera to sleazy rock. I recommend this to everyone-though sadly only our Atlantic cousins have access to the DVD.

*Goes and listens to Zydrate anatomy*

I haven't seen the film sadly but it looks and sounds pretty amazing.

And it comes out on DVD tomorrow. Yes!

To be fair, I'd probably like it a whole lot more of it weren't for all the singing.

And Paris Hilton, unless she dies.

It has Anthony Head singing in an opera rock film. THe lack of singing would make it something else entirely.

I just got back from a showing of this at the Prince Charles, and I'd say it's a perfect example of Yahtzee's "Branston Pickle" effect - although it has it's flaws, it's sheer uniqueness makes it an absolute must watch! Where else can you see things like a heart and spinal cords with barcodes, or where Paris Hilton's face falls off? The music makes it quite the experience, I rekon the Prince Charles will do sing-a-long showings of it soon, to go along with their Rocky Horror and Sound of Music shows, now that'll be one hell of a night!

If the official soundtrack says anything about the quality, at least the music will be tight whenever I see this cause its surprisingly good.

Lidl.

This film is looking more and more attractive every time I watch the trailer.

A trip to Lidl is just fantastic. It's like stepping into a war-torn Polish supermarket inhabited only by people who have appeared on the Jeremy Kyle Show.

Everything you pick up off the shelf is interesting. I'm sure their entire business runs on the fact that yuo're curious about what's even inside the packet, and it's cheap, so you buy it.

I haven't been into Lidl for a while now. Curse the giant ASDA store directly opposite my street.

finally watched it and....well, it was not bad. The whole style and world is quite interesting, and the novel of singing does work. Only problem is some of the songs are a bit meh and the plot got a little confusing for me (oddly). You kinda just lose the appeal of the whole singing and blood and gore after the first half hour.

Love the Legal Assassin song though.

All I know about this was it was nominated for a few Razzies, got savaged by critics, and bombed at the box office. And a lot of people said it was trying way too hard to be Rocky Horror.

I probably won't check it out. :P

I would say watch clips of the songs on youtube. They are more enjoyable than the film as a whole while reflecting.

Anthony Head's performance was quite good though, didn't know he could sing that well.

I guess I'm by myself here. I thought it was shit. I felt that as inspired as the setting was the lyrics were equally uninspiring* and the majority of the acting was quite laughable at times when it shouldn't have been.

*With the exception of Zydrate Anatomy.

I thought most of the songs were pretty good but it wasn't as gory as I was expecting. Personally I liked it overall because I found it amusing.

Anthony Stewart Head did a great job in this, especially when he was singing as the Repo Man.

I agree-I do wish they'd looked into the clear dissassociative personality disorder Nathan was forming-with Repo man being the one who does the terrible deeds and not him.
In a way I hope there will be a sequel as it's an awesome concept and certainly one of the better Rock Opera's I've seen.

Just watched it, and while I love the setting and idea, it just didn't work as an opera. Or, at least, the songs were all just really awkward.

Also, it's stupidly unrealistic that everything should revolve around GeneCo. I didn't see a single thing that wasn't to do with the company, bar maybe one print advert for something. Does no-one else have anything else to talk about?

And I don't think there's anything more awkward and non-rhythmic than 5-4 timing.

It is odd you complain about a film with one global company given the fact alot of film and games and novels use the exact same thing across decades.

Yeah, but here there's no form of regulation as to how it's used, not even any mention of government. Even all the graffiti on the walls all just says anything about GeneCo.

No regulation on a company? A dream for buisnessmen indeed. It seemed Gene-co WERE the government for all intents and purposes-much like Omni corp anted to be in Detroit. Also if everyone has had surgery, everyone owes gene-co. Not so difficult to keep a senator, Governor ior President in your pocket when you remind him of all the surgeries he's had-not to mention his wife and children.

Fair do's, but I meant regulation in context of the filmography, the fact that they don't hold back in placing it everywhere.

As I was watching through though, I was less and less impressed with the art direction. Setting's nice, style is nice. Posters, magazine covers, newspapers all looked sub-par.

Come on. Faking 1930-40s Soviet propaganda posters does NOT MEAN USING THE CUTOUT FILTER IN PHOTOSHOP.

A lot of type just doesn't fit as well. Constant Futura Bold all caps on posters AND magazines, mixed with unedited Rockwell and Impact of all things. Someone's just grabbed all the default typefaces on a Mac and gone to work, shovelling these things out.

YOU'RE IMPACT WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE FRONT COVER OF A NEWSPAPER YOU DON'T BELONG ON THE FRONT COVERS OF NEWSPAPERS

The only explanation is that all the graphic designers died because they were underpaid.

I'm sorry but I really didn't notice this at all. Supose it what comes with being in design though.
