I heard. That's rather depressing news.

It is nice to hear confirmation on Unseen Academicals, though.

This saddens me. I can't think of a least-deserving person it can happen to.

I am currently in the process of buying all of Pratchett's books, I have all the Discworld ones from The Colour of Magic to Making Money, his latest, and Good Omens, gonna work on getting the pre-discworld stuff soon.

It's sad to hear, but I love his outspoken and non-defeatist attitude.

KHAAAAAAAAN!

Seems we might not be seeing much more from the foremost fantasy parody author...

Although on a lighter note, this could cause him to write some really weird stuff.

I'm afraid I am as illiterate as the prats on Myspace that write "Books!? As if! lol!" in their Favourite Books section so I have no idea who this guy is but it's always sad to hear about this kind of thing.

I see a lot of support for him - might pick up one of his books to see what I think...

:-O

I'm so glad I already have his full collection.

But if I didn't I'd be out buying every single book again.

And it's good to hear he's still writing because otherwise I don't know what I'd do.

Well...I don't have all his books, but I am a fan...I knew it would happen some time, (not the disease thing, the dying part) but it's still sad...

Although, I do like his attitude about it.

...But it's still sad. I expect my sister to shout, 'WHAT?!' and start shaking me madly when I tell her.

Yeah, I heard about this earlier... I really ought to get around to reading this guy's stuff one of these days.

Oh, and as for all the "I'm/He's not dead yet" comments... not to make fun of the situation or anything, but those comments keep making me think of the infamous "Bring Out Your Dead" scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail...

Hmm, he seems to be quite an optimistic and strong willed person. I only read a little bit of one of the discword novels (I'm a slow reader and the school library made me hand it back, damn woman....) quite interesting. Sigh life is cruel and full of suprises bad and good.

I think you need to read up on him, mate. Go get some Discworld novels and treat yourself for a bit.

Alright... problem is, I'm broke and the only thing related to Discworld I know of is the game for PS1... and I own it.

I'm reminded of Granny Weatherwaxes "I aten't dead" card.

You just reminded me of a conversation with my sister yesterday.

"Terry Pratchett has Alzheimer's!"
"Oh noes!"
"But he says 'I'm not dead yet.'"
"That reminds me of the "I aten't dead" card. You know, Granny Weatherwax's card."

As someone who has just started reading the series herself (I'm borrowing a couple from a friend at school in exchange for my copy of Mort and a free sketch) I'm saddened for him. But I also love the attitude he's taking towards it, if only more people took such a stance against these things.

If that doesn't go on his tombstone there's something wrong with the world.

But seriously, Pratchett is pretty much my favourite author. Damn. Hope the dude remains unaffected for a long time...

And when the inevitable does happen Mr Pratchett will hear "WHOOPS, BIT OF A TYPO THERE. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I COULD MURDER A CURRY."

Still he isn't gone yet and I look forward to what he will do in the next few years.

Okay, who's Granny Weatherwax?

Granny Weatherwax = witch, to put it simply...she has an 'I aten't dead' card because she uses a skill that I momentarily forgot the name of that is very hard to explain. It looks like she's dead, though, while doing it.
