...we just hire hitmen instead, less messy.

It was pretty clear though that there were problems waayy before this incident, but it was the spark.

Lawl.

But seriously, a sting operation on a kid? Don't ya think this was going a liiitle overboard? I'm pretty sure the threat of being taken to jail would be enough to make the little shit behave.

Great parenting there, rather than arrange some councelling sessions or talking the issue over, they put him into a case of police entrapment and get him arrested for attempted murder. Bet they think that will do him a world of good too, the cocks.

I like how a picture of the game Hitman is shown as if it's to blame.

Not exactly the brightest kid they have there...

I wonder if the kid's played enough games to understand 'pwn't'.

One would think after a hitman just magically shows up right after making threats to kill the parents that something isn't quite right.

I think the parents did go a bit over the top there. Counseling should have at the very least come first.

This is almost as sad as that ten-year-old boy who hung himself because his parents denied him to play playstation.

Or the one that hanged himself because he was playing a "Shadow Game" with his older brother and lost.

I wish I could make some pithy remark here, but it really speaks for itself.

A shadow game?  Care to enlighten me?

Sounds like Yu-Gi-Oh. In the series the Shadow Games were challenges where someone had done something wrong (usually one of Yugi's friends was hurt or put in danger by this person) and was then challenged to a 'game' which revealed their evil character flaws. The loser would suffer a harsh punishment involving losing their sanity/soul/life as a result.

I can't believe someone killed themself because they believed it was real.

As for the story itself, I feel sad knowing that the kid was stupid enough to believe it and that the parents went to such lengths to...what? Teach him a lesson?

Not only that, but I remember a kid (Russian as I remember) jumped off his 19th story apartment when his parents said "no computer".

True an heroes, in my opinion. (If you don't know what "an hero" is, go to Encyclopedia Dramatica and look it up.)

Why take the time, patience and responsibility to raise your children and teach them right from wrong when you can let a corrupt government, a sensationalist media, and an inept/insane society do it for you?

Then again, in a world where loving, responsible parents are fined or jailed for disciplining their kids when they step out of line (and subsequently vilified by the press), it comes as no surprise that some would simply give up and let little Jonny and Susie run amok with impunity.

Have you ever tried simply turning off the tv, sitting down with your children and hitting them?
