I love Blasphemy. There's jut something cute and yet troubling about him. So I figured I would try to draw him. It didn't quite come out as well as I pictured it in my head, but I think it's alright. Leave critiques, they are appreciated. Posted Image |

I'm no good at drawing chao but any unwanted BG lines/marks you could ease out as they are kinda seeable And perhaps smooth off your line work? |

erm...surely a graphics tablet should be used for this kinda stuff? if not then would it not be better to draw it then scan the image on the bloody comp? |

A tablet doesnt solve issues of drawing, it's merely a preference. Many artists work via mouse alone, tablet is just a natural progression. |

didnt know that. all I know is that usin a mouse is really hard whereas drawing with a pencil like object is considerable easier. |

Well ive bee drawing with a mouse for several years and dont plan on getting a tablet anytime soon. It depends on how accustomed you are with drawing with a mouse. Some people just cant do it. |

It really helps if you have photoshop 7 or something like that. And if you practice a lot. |

The severed chao head has a different light source than blasphemy and it's body do. On Blasphemy and the body the light source is the upper left of the canvas, the head seems to be being lit from a light source that is on it's right and right up against it judging by how much is in shadow. Blood doesn't cast a shadow btw. I second the person who said you need to clean your line work up more, try scanning at a higher resolution then shrink, it makes it smoother and try scanning grayscale instead of black and white for less pixellisation. As for the people who suggested Tablets? Tablets are a wonderful tool but they don't do the work for you, you need the skill in the first place. Admittedly Tablets can be better than a mouse, but you still have to get used to them and some people still find a mouse is easier than a tablet. I don't know what programme you used for this piece but if it was paint or anything like that, then you might want to get Gimp which is the freeware version of photoshop, though I'm personally fairly fond of Open Canvas 1.1 but then I've got a tablet so pressure sensativity and real media effects are a must have for me. |
