I collect dragon stuff...WHAT? I like dragons. I know they exist, their out there somewhere.

On the matter of collecting shoes: I know I don't agree with it, but still it is their choice. Yeesh if I decided to collect bannanas no one could do anything. And now to shut up and stay off this particular topic.

Why spend over £500 on a bottle of wine you'll never drink? Why spend thousands on statues and paintings when all they do is sit there?

For fucks sake people, IT ISN'T YOUR MONEY. Ergo, you have FUCK ALL SAY IN HOW THE OWNER SPENDS IT. Jesus, next you'll be whining at me because I collect multiple covers of comic books, or that I collect action figures purely to display. Masterpiece Magnus set me back £70, and "all" he does is sit on my shelf, looking suitably badass surrounded by his small army of Alternators.

People here seem to bitch about how "cool" people mock them for their lifestyle choice, but fuck me if most of those people are doing the same fucking thing about the so-called "cool" people.

Well, see, It's one thing to make an investment on something worthwhile, comic books, action figures, they're collector's items and sometimes have sentimental value. But shoes are an entirely different story. It isn't about me being victimized by the "cool" people. It's about how some investments just aren't worth a damn thing. Like the title says. Shoes are for wearing!!

Uh-huh. I don't buy action figures for the collectors value, and even if I did, there's a lot of people out there who already do the same thing, thus limiting the potential value in the future.

Fact of the matter is, it's still not your fucking money. And as I said, it's none of your business as to how it's spent. I don't like the fact people blow money on booze or tobacco, but they do. And frankly, it's none of my business.

Seriously, No.

If he wants to put the shoes on a pedestal, and spend his money on them, fair enough. Do you go around stamp collector's houses and yell at them for not using their stamps they spend ridiculous amounts of money on? Leave 'em be. :<_<:

These two posts happen to make the most sense throughout the entire topic.

So what if someone wants to spend so much money on shoes? More the fool for them.

I've got a couple statuettes in my room that obviously have no other funtion than to look pretty. That doesn't make it a bad money choice. My money, do what I want.

Yeah, but do you strap statuettes to your feet every day when you walk out the door? It an item is supposed to be functional like clothes and shoes then it's totally rediculous to spend more money than you should on them and not wear them. If you buy something like a statuette or a figurine or a comic book and collect it or just keep it around for looks-- that's just fine.

Uh-huh. By that logic, I shouldn't blow $15US + $20US international shipping on Penny Arcade shirts when I can buy a pack of plain beige t-shirts for £2.

Again, and listen carefully, because you're either not reading or you're ignoring this key point.

WHAT SOMEONE DOES WITH THE MONEY THEY EARNT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. IF THEY WANT TO BLOW £100 ON SHOES, SO BE IT. IT IS NONE OF YOUR FUCKING CONCERN.

If you're incapable of understanding that someone elses money is not anything to do with you whatsoever, then I'm just locking this topic as you're not really worth the effort of trying to ram this point into your fucking brain.

You know, last time I checked, weren't we all entitled to something of free speech here without being ganged up on by opposition? Y'know, you could've just not said anything and shut it down already.

Yes, that is but one functin of shoes.

It also has the function of looking pretty.

It's a multi-functional object. Just happens that the vast majority of people only use it for one function. To wear.

Heck, you could use them as a doorstop or a paperweight.

Nope. A forum is a dictatorship. You have what rights we decide to give you. The fact that I tend to request (See one of the stickies) rather than demand is a rarity - I like to be nice, but to steal a phrase, "my paitence is limited. Unlike my authority".

Disagreeing with an admin isn't a crime, which is why debate goes on in this forum. I personally don't agree with a fair few people here on certain issues, but I wouldn't ban them for that alone. Which is why you're still here, and why I haven't warned you.

Just in this case, you seem to be blatantly ignoring the fundamental point of the counter-argument, this being that someones money, that they have earnt, is entirely their concern, as is what they choose to do with this money. You may not like this, but you sadly have to accept the fact that it's none of your bloody business.

Despite the fact that there are two people ganging up on me with a counter argument doesn't halt my opinion. Hell, I never meant for this to turn into a bloody argument in the first place, I didn't think that it would halt the conversation and suddenly get one of the admins on my case.
So you know what? Hell. Let's get over this.
Lock it if you will, warn me if you will, ban me if you will.

Nobody's ganging up, for that would be bullying. There just happens to be two to this side of the argument.

Argument = Debate.

Most forums are there for discussion purposes. This is a discussion.

Meh. I collect Zoids. The only difference between me and them is that their thing has a practical use which they don't use it for and they don't need to stick the bugger together. And Zoids rarely come out in numbers less than 1000. The only recent ones I can think of are some random ones in Japan from some random magazine

... I have a sudden desire for Krark the Lord of Darkness right now. Curse the lack thereof of red Salamanders being released in the new line

My most recent zoid costed me $50 and all he does is sit, move when I turn him on and glow in the dark. But he's DEADBORDER. And therefore he owns you

>_>
