Ah the artillery or the RASC as it's known occasionally (Ronnie Barker gag.)

And about my Bin Laden comment...sorry if I offended anyone. I merely was pointing out that the Afghanistan war reminded me of Norriega's bust by the US in the eighties (ie a war to go grab one guy-one Evil bastard but still one bastard) and also the fact the American army does have a pretty high Friendly fire record.

It used to be alot higher. why do you think we came out with IFF systems?

Ever played planetside? it's a good day when someone doesn't jump out in front of your tank, or into your line of fire, or try to hack the very vehicle terminal you're bombing.

There are just so many people, in such a chaotic environment, all dooing so many different things, with so much information flying through the air, that it's just overwhelming. fratricide is always a horrible thing, but alot of the time it can't be prevented, which is even more horrible. the important thing is that we're doing all we can to minimize it. it's not really any consolation for the unlucky bastards who get it, but it's all we can do.

I served 2 years in the canadian army reserves as an Engineer, did a lot of fun stuff. I'm a 1 man A-team!!! Going back in probably, fairly soon, only this time as a regular force, not reserve. Canada's reserves are pretty well done, i liked it.
My original plan in life was to join the Royal Marines back in Englad as my Grandfather had done during WW2. Then i moved to Canada and i went and talked to a recruiter. First thing i said was "So, seeing as you're here, i'm going to assume Canada actually has armed forces"
Bravo on getting in, enjoy the time you spend there.
