Yeah, sure. Next up, the subject of DOA, and asking why he never uses the sword.
Look below.

Okay, I’ve established that Ryu, is not that much of a Ninja, but enough with the Ninja Gaiden, I don’t want to tell the entire story. Now I’m onto Dead or Alive.

Let’s start by mentioning two other characters, namely Kasumi and Ayane (Yes, THAT Ayane). If you’ve ever seen them, they really do not look that “Ninja” (Not on costume 1, anyway). Ryu definitely looks more ninja-esque than them, especially on DOA Ultimate, where he wears the same leather get-up (We’ve been over that…). Did you notice their professions?

Kasumi, she is a ninja. Ayane, she is also a ninja. Finally, Ryu is… the owner of a Curio shop? Yes, the one that looks like a (bit like a) ninja… isn’t a ninja? Okay!
(By the way, if anyone knows what a Curio shop is (And therefore what it sells), please inform me.)

Now, I know it would not be easy to implement a proper ninja into a one-on-one beat-‘em-up, due to the whole two characters facing each other thing, so I’m not going to gripe about how he fights (Plus the Izuna is too damned cool), though I will say one thing: HANDSTANDS?!

While he fights, Hayabusa still has the Dragon Sword on his back. Why not use that? He couldn’t get enough of the fucking thing in his own games! And don’t start with “Oh no, Dead or Alive is not supposed to have weapons!” thing, Genra (Omega) used a (Fucking BIG) double-bladed sword, and Bankotsubo the Tengu used a… fan… though with respect, he did chuck his staff away… but that fan could still generate huge circular gusts!

Still, since it was Ryu’s “Sworn duty” to rid the world of the evils Tengu and Genra (And possibly Raidou, though Kasumi got to him first, and I think the official storyline will make out Ayane to be Genra’s killer anyway. Also, Raidou was unarmed anyway.), why not just use the sword, even in a cut-scene? It’s not like he’s unskilled with it, and he does, in fact, wield it in a cutscene in later versions of DOA2.
