Thats' a lie actually.

How does one go about fucking up a launch of a major game despite having four months to pick up on the mistakes from the US launch?

Release a patch that takes 3 hours to download on LAUNCH DAY
Make sure practically none of the games site actually works, especially account signing up.
Make sure tech support is non-existant.
Have it so accounts can't log in as whilst they exist, you can't access them at all.

Fuck you Blizzard, you lazy sacks of shite.

World of Warcraft, I'm guessing? Haven't been paying much attention to Blizzard news since patch 1.10 for Diablo 2.

True, they probably should just let the series die off. I mean, honestly... the lich king got himself a new host body... that world is SCREWED, barring a direct intervention from Kil'Jaeden or something of the sort.

Ah well. They probably won't end it until the world blows up. And even then they're likely to move the action to some other world. Why axe a good source of profits?

As for releases? People will always find a way to muck it up somehow...

Why? As fantasy series' go, it's one of the btter ones out there.

As my account now works, I've started my hopefully lucrative career as a Dwarven Arms dealer, or Hunter as I'm currently known. Level 5 already. :D

It is. Doesn't bother me as I avoid PVP like the plague, what with the place being full of twats who want to have the snot smacked out of them. :P

Well, at least with Warcraft they can keep drawing out the story indefinitely.

I mean, the orcs, humans and assorted races have been going between Azeroth and Draenor as far back as the expansion pack for WC2. If the story options on Azeroth grow thin, what's stopping them from taking one or two storyline characters, sending them through a portal to another world, have a few baddies follow them and start off fresh?

Good thing for Warcraft fans, I guess. I'm not too crazy about the series myself.

I thought Starcraft and Diablo 2 were awesome games, and i still think they are. Hell, now that you remind me, I'm going to install Diablo 2 and play it again!

Thanks East ^_^

I quite hated Diablo 2 in too many aspects. I'm not bothered pointing them out...

Blizzard turned StarCraft into a FPS. Not that I much care about StarCraft itself, but I quite liked it. And after turning WarCraft into a RPG, what they did with StarCraft is beyond forgiving.

Proto: Stop whining. They didn't 'turn' the game into anything else at all. Completely different games can be part of the same franchise. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm withholding judgement on Ghost until I play it, but World of Warcraft is quite fun. Besides, not like they completely abandoned the strategy series. Wouldn't surprise me if they've been working on StarCraft 2 quietly for a while now.

But yeah, kinda funny to see them drop the ball like that on the EU launch. Maybe they weren't able to get all the patch code ready in time before the publisher had to start making copies?

Ah well, the game runs and I've been having fun, so I'm not complaining.

No, there is still the prospect of a StarCraft 2. Despite the fact it'll still be a poor Warhammer 40,000 rip-off that'll pale in comparison to Dawn of War, there is still chances of it being released.

Warcraft is a fantasy game. With heroes. What do you think would be the next logical step after making an RTS that's practically the same as the last two? Sports? Maybe a nice game along the lines of The Sims?

The thing is this. Blizzard are, like every other developer, a business. MMORPGs are practically a license to print money. You do the math.

It was expected, yes. But RTS are still pretty much alive, and the online mode of it on WarCraft 3 was pretty cool, but not as cool as the first 2 games.
But that's the suposed way to move along with the series I supose. Still, the story background is something pretty much open to quite anything, and it's world is quite easy to shape along with the story.

About StarCraft 2, it might turn out quite nicely, but they could of hurry up with it. But I'm not sure how loved was Ghost...

Patience. First they need to make Diablo 3, WoW 2, Warcraft 4, release another patch for Diablo 2, make a few re-releases of old games... Maybe you'll still be alive when they get around to planning SC2.

As for making a StarCraft FPS? Not the first time, really. Anyone remember C&C: Renegade? Sure, it wasn't a perfect game, but it had its nice moments.

what the hell? you make it sound like they are never gonna do another warcraft rts? WOW is a mmorpg so what whoopie fucking doo. There will be more warcraft rts. its not as if because they made star wars galaxies that all star wars games from then on have to be the same? Most franchises step into different genres every now and then (look at mario and sonic)

I never said such thing.
I state that, at the moment, there are no WarCraft RTS, period.

I'm sure they'll work on more WarCraft RTSs.
