How many others here are eagerly awaiting the release of this game? I enjoyed the first immensely.

I liked the first one up to a point. I got extremly sick of going back and forth and backtracking all the fucking time.

The first, while I'm assured was a reasonably fun game, I never got around to playing much of. Didn't quite capture my interest.
The second boasts Multiplayer, though, which gives it a fair chance of being a regular around here, even if I don't pay for it or play it much otherwise. :)
(fair, but not garuanteed - after all, Crystal Chronicles looked real good until we played it)

I want it, but I have to consider which has the most potential to become rare on my want list. Tales of Symphonia and Star Ocean take the top two slots with Metroid prime 2 in 3rd.

Metroid Prime 2 is a must get game for myself. Number 2 is going to be Final Fantasy Online and 3rd is Raw Vs Smackdown (As soon as it comes out here)

I doubt I'll get it. Metroid never greatly appealed to me, and nor did Prime, really.

I'm sure as hell getting it. The Space Pirates bases were my favourite bit in Prime, and by the looks of it there are plenty more in Echoes. Plus the Screw Attack'll be fun.

... The space pirates aren't important to the story, and there's only one small base, in Agon Wastes, allegedly.

It's less "Chozo and Pirates", more "Luminoth and Ing".

I think I know who the final boss may be, too, but I'm not telling.
Probably because I'll be wrong.

I can see it's appeal though. Metroid Prime was brought out for older gamers to appreciate the change, looking at the original Metroid, and looking at Metroid Prime and Echoes now, the transition is nothing short of stunning. Plus, Fusion was brought out at the same time as Prime 1 for the purists.

Or you can own both since both games are effing great.

Metroid Prime 2's definitely on my list for Christmas. I've enjoyed Metroid games ever since Super Metroid, and I thought Prime was phenomenal. I'm really looking forward to this.

Bah.

Oh well. Hopefully they'll fit Kraid into this one. After all, they already made him for Prime. They just didn't have space.

Semi-Proof

True, they couldn't do it in time.
Maybe this time will be Kraid's turn...

Metroid Prime 2 seems like a decent game, but it doesnt seem as "fun" to me as the older games were.

I'm a personal fan of the series so yeah I'll pick it up and play it. Though I hope that it doesn't have the stupid 'scan everything to unlock secrets'. Put it back to the originals. I want to grab every upgrade in under three hours to get the great ending and then let me try and shave off the seconds so that I can do it under two hours... God Super Metroid was good.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I wanted to make sure I didn't go make a thread that already existed.

Anyway, I certainly got the game when it came out, as the Metroid games are my favourite vidieo series for several reasons. I can't really be bothered listing down the reasons at the moment though.

I completed the game in at least less then two weeks, I thought it was excellent. Almost all of the bad parts in the first Prime game (such as excessive backtracking) have been removed. You don't have to backtrack as many times as you did in the first one.

Also, I consider this to be the true 3D Metroid. Just like the 2D games, all of the Bosses are challenging and difficult. *spoiler alert* Emperor Ing and Dark Samus III were slightly overdoing it though, in terms of difficulty.

I rather like the storyline as well, the Ing have only caused a lot more questions about Phazon and if you thought Dark Samus was just a simple clone of Samus, think again. Though if you haven't completed Prime 1 it won't really make any difference at all... ¬_¬

Be careful. Who or what Dark Samus is hasn't be proved (even though it probably is who you think it is).

Did normal with 100% items, 98% scans (damn amorbis), did hard with 100% items and 100% scans.

MP2 was definately my "Game of 2004".

Its sort of been proved.

*Spoiler*

When you do see Dark Samus' skull, it looks very similar to the face of Metroid Prime. Only more human shaped and with a third eye added.

*spoilers*

Still not proof. A better case would be that the 100% ending shows MP stealing Samus' Phazon suit. DS is probably MP in that suit although no part of the game says so.
