The staff has decided to do away with seasonal voting and just change seasons every three months. Now that that's the case, how would you all feel about dialling back the seasons so that the IC seasons match up more to IRL northern-hemisphere seasons? What I mean is that currently we are in autumn, due to change to winter in February, but we just had a huge snowfall here and it puts me in the mood to write winter things. By February winter will be already half over in real-life, but will persist until April or so in real life. Personally, it makes me feel weird, but I have no idea if anyone else feels that way, which is why I'm asking. I also know that not everyone is in the northern hemisphere. That or else winter lasts through March for you so it doesn't matter. That's also why I'm asking: to see if we can set a season cycle that's good for everyone now that we have a stirling opportunity to do so. I'd propose dividing the year up like this: Winter
Spring
Summer
Autumn
In this, the season would begin the first weekend of the first listed month and the last weekend of the last month. I am open to a huge amount of tweaking to this model. (: |

March is usually still winter or very early spring in this part of the world methinks - particularly this year, the 'winter' has been so mild that the cranes here just started leaving, a portent of colder weather coming. p_o That said, I think I'd prefer it the way you listed. Personally I feel more inclined to write things with the season unless I have a weird mood and write something sunny in winter, in which case..timestamp. I think the 3 month divide thing is a good idea and keeps it more..regulated. |

as a southerner of this good ol' us of a, every month is summer. there's wet summer, then slightly less wet summer, then okayish summer, then dry summer. 8) but honestly i like that system. keeps things regular and predictable, and i tend to think of those months as stereotypically [insert season here] anyway. I'd say go for it~ |

Speaking from the opposite end of the USMURICA! *FREEDOM INTENSIFIES, EAGLES SCREAMING* Spoiler: click to toggle It's like Winter all the time. And like 3 weeks of hot. It's poopy but we are the only ones crazy enough to live here. The 3 Month Plan looks solid. Each Month do speak for the season it represents, when I think Summer, I think June, July and August. etc. etc. But where I'm from it's Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Road Construction. I'm all for the 3 month plan. -EDIT: Literally everything Crow said above me. Edited by Shiro, Jan 27 2016, 08:57 AM.

Oh, I like this very much! It's much easier to keep track of and plan for. As for people being in areas where the seasons don't change in the same way... a Sotoan winter is quite different from an Ashokan winter, isn't it? I think we've got a lot of different types and times of seasons covered, Soaran geographical diversity taken into account. And this way, I won't have to struggle to remember what warmth feels like while buried under feet of snow IRL... Edited by Glede, Jan 27 2016, 07:04 AM.

I'm neutral. I can write for any season at any time. I'm not bothered by it being off-kilter at the moment. It was originally supposed to match up roughly with northern hemisphere seasons, but got off track. Where I live it's basically winter from October to April or May and then summer and then fall and spring happen somewhere in there, haha. And yeah. At the end of the day the different countries have different climates so if you're jonesing for some warmth, go hang out in totalitarian Ashoka. =D So then if people are generally in favour of this idea (which they appear to be), are we wanting to switch the season to Winter at the beginning of February and then switch to spring in March or how is that going to look? |

We could always do winter/spring 2 months each, so that it's not super short, unless people want a really short winter? Otherwise there's always...TIMESTAMPS! 8D |

This looks super good. Nice to have definitive timetable. Timestamps cover things that could get off kilter. I ENDORSE WITH MY DUBIOUS SEAL OF APPROVAL. |

Sorry for taking so long to get back about this, I was too busy working on my GINORMOUS ESSAY ON GULLIVER'S TRAVELS. (: I propose we sort of slide into it, say do the season change this weekend (I'll do it, Shadow, don't you worry) and have a sort of short winter, going until April. Whether people want it until the first or second weekend in April, whatever. Then this slightly shortened spring lasts until the first week in June, when we transition to summer and begin adhering to the proposed schedule. Does that sound good? To be honest, the weird late/short winter is also a pretty good depiction of what's been happening here on the east coast of the United States so far....It was supposed to snow today but nah, it's jut raining~~~~ |

You'll have to do it because I won't have a computer, lol. <3 That sounds good to me. Our winter is also pretty messed up... It's been above 0 C here for the past week. We get that sometimes, but then it plummets back to -20 C. And it hasn't and doesn't appear to be on the verge of doing that... |
