SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

A winter coastal breeze drifted along the isolated shoreline; its scent held the typical smells of the sea but was polluted with the overwhelming stench of decay. Set against the tide and overcast sky was the sight of an ocean that had vomited its contents until it dry heaved; the product of a month and a half of marine life that had driven themselves upon the coast. Mighty and massive forms that could have been the tales of legend lay in company of lesser sized but more well-known life. They lay long dead, rotting and festering away in the heat of one day after the next. Gulls and other scavengers had abandoned the buffet of a thousand corpses scattered across the beach leaving only the lowest of creatures to do away with the corpses.

One wayward group had ventured near the sorry sight and returned to civilization with a horrific tale, which was enough for a rumor to begin surfacing and circulating. It was believable for creatures to have beached themselves upon the shore, but animals so large and in such numbers? Surely exaggerated so how many and how big only rose from there. And then there was the why? Something so fierce and awful that it drove them out of the ocean and onto the shore! It was a serpent unlike that of which anyone on Soare had ever seen, large as a continent with teeth the size of mountains and scales the size of a man. One had even claimed to have come face to face with such a frightening beast and barely escaped with their life. Those who explore the uninhabited coast line should beware lest they come face to face with the whale swallower.

    “Forward. Forward.”

An endless march at the bottom of the Sea of Diverging Water. It had been several years since it happened, thrown overboard to never grace the land ever again. Latent magic had warped the armor. Ambition and hate drove it. Patience kept it sane if it could have ever been called that. What was a little bit longer after being imprisoned for so long? A new development brought hope to seize what it rightfully owned. The light above had steadily illuminated the blue abyss, it would not be long now.

A form of just over six feet in height trudged up from the depths, dragging its feet across the wet sand as waves crashed down but did little to impede its progress. A beast from the depths, covered in an array of colorful coral and dull seaweed that draped over it, barnacles attached here and there along a thick black leather layer of skin beneath it. With each step, from its joints bled a tar that ocean reluctantly walked away. It was hard to say just where it was. An island or the mainland?

It had truly been the happiest day she could remember when her long forgotten friend had returned. Ciara had let every member of her steed slip from her mind in whatever fugue had gripped her, until at once she knew. Deep her bones, so close beneath the skin draped on them, she remembered them.

And now she sat atop her long forgotten horse, hooves making a soft splash in the surf as they rode, and rode, the bond between them not needing words. Empathy. Sort of. Except it was not emotional, not really. Like her head and her body, she was her horse and yet she was separate. Only this time it was right, rather than something she could not help but feel was not how this was meant to work.

Of course she noticed the corpses. But the pure joy of her reunion distracted her at first. She was dead and spent most of her time around those who were also, a corpse held little note to her. On a similar note the air of wrongness that seemed to fill the air did little to touch her. For a while.

Eventually she came to a stop, without moving she looked back, and then forwards. A shadowy appendage emerged from the ground and wrapped around her waist, pulling her from her horse and placing her on the ground before being absorbed back into the swirling tattoo's on her bare stomach. Like a snake it coiled around her before flowing along her arm, forming a throned vine image that curled from the index finger on her right through to her left foot where it vanished under her sandals.

She knelt and touched her hand to the head of some large marine creature briefly, unsure of herself. She was slowly getting a sense of what was happening her. She reached to her horse which galloped at her before it to vanished into her tattoo's.

There was movement though, in the waves. She turned her body to face it and stood to face it. She was aware how comical it almost certainly looked. She looked more like a corpse than anything on the beach. Barely dressed and it was obvious she had not eaten in many, many months now. But she moved. The shadows danced around her and despite no heart beating she lived.

And she felt. For example, she felt curious. So she looked at the approaching figure from the water and she waited.

With each step it fouled the sand below with ichor, each drip tainting the ground upon which it dared to tread. Uneven splashes of it turned black as the unnatural mixed with earth, becoming tar-like but with a nauseating stench. It noticed her, an emaciated pale mockery of life that was cloaked in shadow. It lived without a head and somehow found the means to function. She was the sole thing that offered company upon the desolate shoreline and would be the only thing bold enough to willingly approach it with curious intentions. It did not recognize her want to know about it but it did see that she was lacking in aggression towards it.

It returned her disposition though the creature before her let out a low hiss and then spoke. It was as though the words came from within it and then burst forth from the deep that it had seemingly spawned from. It held an ancient and feral tone that resonated and spoke as though to demand.

“Perversion of life. One with the dark. For what purpose do you approach? Speak if you have the means.”

It was unsure of what to make of the matter before it. Beneath those waves there was no such thing as company. Only a drive to see the surface world once more and to reclaim what it had since lost.

"What do you desire of me?"

While she had been waiting Ciara had shifted how she was sitting a few times. It was difficult to get comfortable where her ass was so bony, even with such a soft surface as the sand. She had tried sitting on a dead whale, but the corpse had begun to fall away and collapse at the pressure. Continuing seemed like a way to make a mess more than anything. She as such was now sitting on a tentacle made of shadow that grew from the ground and curled into a loop to give her a seat. It helped she could arrange it as well so she could lean to the back or side when she felt like it.

Of course, this meant she was a little distracted when the figure arrived. Of course, lacking a face meant she did not have a facial expression to betray this fact.

    Well someone is rude

The words formed out of darkness and hung in the air.

Also, I feel a little bit hypocritical of you referring to me as a perversion of life and one with the dark.

The words remained for a few moments, and then formed into an arrow pointing to the ground at the beings feet that had been turning black as it walked, and then around at the sea creatures who lay dead in large numbers, before finally forming into a question mark above her head.

Of course, this is all by the by, Mostly I am somewhat curious. You do not appear to alive, in the typical sense, and I have suffered quite a lot from people expecting the

Differently living to be dangerous. So I want to know what is going on. Also, and I only think of this now, I have only heard of one other living suit of armour of late, and it was giving dullahan's something of a bad name. You have a head though, which makes you someone what of an odd dullahan.

Her seat shifted to coil around her waist and lift her up before gently placing her on the ground.

So I guess I don't want anything. I am just curious. Also about if this was on purpose or an accident

She gestured to the corpses, before shrugging. Admittedly she did so in an exaggerated manner, but that was because she found it best to make sure anything she did was very clear. Lacking a head made that helpful.
