SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

    Mother... where do You live?

The sun danced through the leafy canopy, scattering a shimmering green-gold upon the mossy floor of the Erth'netora. The air was warm outside the trees but inside it was cool and pleasant save for biting bugs, and upon the shady breeze was music, and the music was birds, crickets, and the occasional bee. An indescribable peace was settled here like a satiny veil, all unbroken but for--

    "HAYOOOOOW MOOSE!"

The birds ceased in their songs with the advent of a thundering series of crashes, followed by a woop and the bugling call of the largest member of the deer family in this latitude. Through the verdant underbrush a female moose exploded, throwing leaves and twigs around, and an unusual rider clinging on with reckless abandon.

    "HIYIYI!" Meri shrieked, laughing.

She hadn't meant to ride this moose, just like she hadn't meant to ride that one dragon. In fact she had been hunting it only a few moments ago -- she liked moose meat and had planned to turn it into jerky as it didn't have a foal or anything -- when another noise had caught its attention and it lifted its great head and spotted her. Fearlessly it had charged her and really she was bloody lucky it wasn't antler season or she might have been Merisiel Gore-Rider. The only way to go had been up, up to a branch that was above her head, but she hadn't had enough time and ended up sailing right onto its back. It had kicked and thrashed with its razor-sharp hooves, so she wasn't about to dismount, and somehow managed to turn herself around front-ways. Now they were riding merrily, Meri and her moose.

Well, she was, merrily, not the moose maybe.

She could have saved herself a lot of trouble by attacking from the trees rather than the ground and she couldn't think of a single reason why she hadn't except that maybe, deep deep down, she wanted to add Moose-Rider to her bucket list.

    Check.

Bushes and thin twigs whipped her mostly-bared skin, and within a few moments of this crazy fun she was stinging and bleeding from a hundred little scrapes and cuts and splinters. The moose's fury was uninterrupted.

    Totally worth it.

Zayne stalked quietly through the still forest. Although it was rather quiet, save for the birds and the odd bee, he found himself oddly calm rather than frustrated at a lack of prey. The spider hybrid sighed happily and breathed in the earthy smell of the forest. Unfortunately, Zayne's peace was soon interrupted by a loud yell and the bellow of a moose.

Irritated by having his peace and quiet disturbed, he followed the sound, only to nearly get run over by the irate moose. Clearly, the spider hybrid was not the only one irritated by the brown-skinned elf. Zayne raced after them, determined to kill something. Whether the something was the moose or the elf did not bother him. As the spider hybrid closed in, he lunged at the moose's back end, aim to either stop or slow down the enraged animal with his body weight.
