SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

If there was one thing that he'd decided since he'd come topside, it was that he didn't much like ships any better up here than they were down there. Well, it was a love-hate relationship he supposed.
He'd never really struggled to get to grasp with the moving deck, which was fantastic for someone who was used to walking on ceilings. Nor was it the rush of natural wind every which way, though it usually destroyed his hair, and why did he even bother trying at that point?
No it was the salt. It left his clothing feeling stiff, and his hair like straw after the exposure. And they said the whole mass of offshore water was like it too. It was just ghastly. How anyone lived with it was anyone's guess, especially in Reine so close to the sea.

It wasn't as though they had no such expanses of water underground. There was the Darklake for one...nobody really knew just how far that one went, expanses of water that might have been oceans for all they knew, fathomless deeps that would swallow a drow in a heartbeat, and secreted gods knew what monstrosities. Sometimes the ceiling sloped so low that it touched and dipped under the water, made it impassable. Not so here, there was just that staggering vast openness of the sky.
Somehow, that was worse. Underground, at least you knew that there was a roof there somewhere. And the darkness stretched off in every direction, eternal. Up here there was nothing but that freedom, if he could but just spread his wings...wings that he no longer had. How frustrating. Up here, there was the horizon, making him horribly aware that there was no land in sight for miles. It only drove home the feeling of being utterly stranded, that he was sailing away from light and heat, and the possible comfort of smooth dark skin and throaty laughter, dancing amber eyes...

Jhaereth cleared his throat delicately, peered over the rail at the rushing spray of water at the prow cut the sea like a hot knife through butter. This far forward on the ship, with a strong wind behind them, it almost felt like a glide, dragged the corners of his thin sharp mouth up into a grudging smirk.
He could get used to this.

Now if they could just remove the rest of the quarrelsome passengers and the hold full of cargo, they might go even faster.
Just thinking about the other passengers left him feeling mildly irritable. Especially the couple cohabiting the cabin next to his. If they weren't shrieking obscenities at each other then they were rutting like beasts. He'd spent most of his time up on the deck for that precise reason. A wall was no privacy when you made that much noise.

Most of them, he presumed, were returning from the party of the island's current ruler, still loaded with exuberance and drink, though that was fast fading at the prospect of being trapped on board for several days with one another. He wondered if he could get away with killing off a few and making it look accidental without anyone noticing.

    Probably. Fools, all of them.

He shifted as he heard feet on the deck, just enough that he might turn one acidic eye to glance back over his shoulder at the one intruding on his thoughts.
"Oh, it's you. Vendui, hello, hola, et cetera."

    Seian Verian
    Fluff the magic dragon~
Seian was restless. More than that, he was very, very, anxious, and no matter what he did to soothe himself he couldn't calm down. The noise didn't help, there was a large group of people near the back of the ship who still seemed to be having a small party of their own, and there were few spots that there wasn't someone sitting around talking. He'd managed to find a place to himself, but it didn't help him much. Really, he didn't understand how he could be this anxious- The calming drugs that were in his natural oils should have affected himself as well, not just those around him. Or at least they should have when he wanted them to. Perhaps that was part of the problem, actually- He recalled how the crowd around him at the party had been whipped into a frenzy instead of calmed. Something was very, very wrong.

He was certain it was tied to the reason he had showed up in Angkar without warning, and the reason that his memory had so many blank spots. Or one of the reasons, at any rate- He didn't know for sure that the gap between his time on Earth and his time on Elenlond was for the same reason as his memory suffering afterward.

Whatever the reason was, it terrified him. It also worried him that he'd been allowed on this ship for free, despite being unaccompanied. In hindsight, he might have been better off staying in Angkar and trying to find someone to help him find answers to his situation. Still though, he was here now, and there wasn't much he expected he could do about it.

The young dragon paced ceaselessly, his claws making small scratches in the wood. What was wrong with him, and what could he do to stop it? He didn't know, and it made him so nervous that he was shaking. He felt almost ready to break down crying, but for now was staving it off.

Finally, Seian decided to take a longer walk, rather than just pacing. He shied away from other people, walking quickly by while being sure not to move too suddenly. He'd almost made a full trip around the ship when he stopped, not far short of where the elf who'd called him a pet back at the party was standing. His shaking had increased, and he found himself having trouble breathing.

It took him a moment before he could address the elf who had spoken to him. "Hello. Is- Is everything well?" His very thoughts were slightly disjointed as he projected them to the elf, and as much as he tried to hold it in the anxiety was leaking out in waves. "I don't want angerhurtfear-" He shook his head, making a ragged gasp despite himself as he tried to keep his thoughts coherent "I don't want to bother. Apologies if I flawedworthlessbeing- If I intrude." His mind was attacking itself, and he was beginning to shudder. He started to turn away, trying to stagger through his near-panic to be by himself again.

What, exactly, did it want? It just stood there being all...blue and fluffy. Unnatural, he thought glibly. He'd seen it at the party albeit briefly. Well seen was an exaggeration, he'd stepped on the thing's tail. Perhaps it wanted to make amends for that and tear him into little bits. He would have, were the roles reversed, but then were that so he would have done it right there and then at the party and damn anyone who'd raise an objection about it.

Meri had said that that sort of behavior was unacceptable, since he shanked the big human barring their way in Madrid. It certainly seemed to get the backs up of everyone else. It also made him how horribly aware in the hours afterwards that this probably meant he was a racist, then it became funny again, and he decided that he didn't actually care.

It just stood there, quivering, possibly with contained fury. How was he to know? It was inconsequential, mostly, and he found himself carefully adjusting his hold on the rail to compensate for the spell that would call up a half dozen spears of ice. Just in case. After the saber cat had had the boldness to rip his coat and savage his arm, and mess up his hair it had occurred to him that strange creatures all, they were no less dangerous. He'd rather not have teeth or claws rending him again.

To his surprise, the invasive tickle of thought nudged into his mind, formed coherent words, although they were a touch disjointed. Perhaps this creature was not so uncivilized or barbaric after all.

    Perhaps.

He watched from heavy lidded eyes as the dragon made some jumbled panicky excuse and began to turn, the words slithering from his lips before he'd really considered.
    "You're not bothering me."
It had to be a step up from conversing with the peons busy slaking their unquenchable thirst for conflict and booze in the back of the ship anyway. Any distraction that made the time pass quicker was welcome at this point. Not to mention that it provided him with a decent pastime that didn't involve coldly cutting throats and dumping the waste over the side.
"I daresay you're far more interesting than the rest of this slovenly crew. Why don't you perch over here-" he pointed at the prow beside him, "-And just relax. The wind is quite refreshing, once you get over the initial slap-in-the-face."

All that aside, he wasn't sure how to ask the question of what the blue being was without seeming offensive, so instead he turned and placed his elbows on the rail, the wind eagerly tearing his hair to blow behind him in a white-blonde streamer. It wasn't that it mattered in any sense of 'should I be accepting of you?' as 'Are you dangerous and what can I expect from you?'
    "So..."
His venomously green gaze rolled about to fix the dragon in his peripheral.
"Tell me about yourself. What's your name? Where are you from? What...are you? Where are you going after Reine?"
It seemed intelligent enough to have at least chosen a name for itself, or recognize a name given to it. Not all were so fortunate though. Logic would demand that it had some idea of where it was going next, or maybe it was just wandering? People did that, apparently.
