Reid sat slouched over a battered wooden table, her curly head hung low over a large bowl filled with fresh fish chowder. Hot steam radiated from the soup, white wisps of heat floating whimsically from the tempting concoction. It was a welcome sight to see after a long morning's work. They had been instructed to clear ice from the docks all morning - no easy feat. Thick, sturdy icicles had formed like a forest off of the worn wooden walkways and clung to cogs like scared children. And a firm sheet of ice had crept just close enough to interfere with docking vessels. Winter in Soto was no laughing matter, that was for certain. And sailing in winter was just as so, if there was no one around to clear the way. Pale hands grasped the bowl gently, stealing the heat that crept through the wood and soaking it with her chilled hands. Even with thick gloves, a proper woolen coat, scarf, and hat, the cold had managed to stain her bones and chill her to the core. Even her nose wasn't spared, having been bitten red by the frigid air. Her cheeks were just as rosy, if not a touch more, which spoke to how long she'd toiled in the unforgiving temperatures. Yet all her mind focused on at the moment was the feast in front of her. Warm, simple, and hearty. A proper meal, like the ones she'd had back at home in northern Soto as a child. It was only until that first morsel hit her tongue that she realized how famished she truly was. Though the empty pit that was her stomach was quickly filled with the warm meal, and soon after finishing the bowl she called for another. Say what you will about The Anchor. Sure, the place was a bit worse for wear but they had the best damned fish chowder in all of southern Soto. "'Nother lunch break?" Reid had always assumed she was either a sever or maybe even the owner. It was hard to tell. An older woman with short grey hair and dark eyes, she had an easy way of talking that kept most people feeling at ease. With a mouth filled with chowder, Reid only nodded in response. "Bet they had you out there dealin' with all that ice." To this she simply snorted, breaking apart a fresh bread roll while she chewed the stew vigorously. The woman, however, chuckled in response. "Too right." Without anything else said she walked off to attend to some other matter. Taking a piece of doughy bread with a spidery hand, Reid dipped the loaf into the creamy broth and popped a bit into her mouth before taking a proper look around the place. It was fairly slow for midday, but that was all the better. The quiet was what she needed right now, especially after this morning's labor. Her back had been aching for the better part of an hour or two, and her shoulder had a sharp pain that wouldn't seem to leave her be. It likely wasn't true, but the stew seemed to help. To her left the only window was coated in a faint layer of frost, the view of the sea obscured by heavy flakes of snow. Reid shifted her gaze outside as she ate, watching the change in weather. The snow had fallen lightly all morning, although now it appeared to be picking up. Lush, thick flakes floated lazily from the grey sky at a steady pace, the amount increasing with each passing minute. It was a pretty sight, though would be a pain to work in. At least she was warm for now. |

Mammon wore his black heavy fur bear coat, gloves, pointed purple shoes, purple clothing, hat, sword on his left hand side of his waist, staff in hand, and a coin purse on his lower back carrying five hundred coins of Sotoan Gold. He had stacked up enough to last him a years worth of seafood, for cooking. But he still enjoyed visiting places. He hasn't been doing much in terms of work. Aside from wood chopping for a bit of coin there and here. Mammon was a big muscular dude, six foot and going. Though his true form is colossus compared to this. Mammon still dwelled in his past, when he ruled Hell with an iron fist. All of this gone.. It was like he still could not believe it. It annoyed him every one bit, that these Gods through him into a world of unknown where he trained, forged, and learned things he would not hope of learning as a demon. Curses One million times. All of them, let them all be damned. Mammon walked on the snow, heading for the port for some mead and chowder in his belly. Stuck in this mortal form had it's annoying limitation. Aging, Tiring, need to sleep, eat, train to stay fit, honed stills, etc. One thing that was not limited was his magic. Mammon held Intense Superhuman knowledge of magic and it's proprieties it wasn't a ability, it was a over the years thing of reading magic books, scrolls, manuscripts, etc. In hell. At least his knowledge was not corrupted when he entered this realm by these gods. Clutching his staff as he entered a place. Humans, Flawed creatures, and he was one of them. Wicked in mind, mortal in appearance. That will soon change."Oh I so missed this place." He announced, taken in everyone whom was around and noticing a woman. Yes, Mammon prayed on the women. Not for the lust, but for Greed. To influence it. To forge them, mold them, conquer them into his little pets. Making his way towards the table as he sat opposition of her, Staff placed down on the end of the wall,."Greetings. That Chowder is wicked good looking." He noted just by the smell of it. It was very good smelling. |

"Greetings. That Chowder is wicked good looking." His voice crept into her mind like a whisper during sleep, slowly bringing her attention back to concrete surroundings. Reid's much savored silence had since dissolved, her attention torn away from impending snowstorm and focused entirely on the colossal stranger that now sat across from her. Adorned mostly in purple and wrapped in a heavy coat of dark bear fur, he seemed to tower over the table even as he sat; a dominating figure no doubt. Reid met his gaze, still chewing the soft loaf with little care for manners, and swallowed the bit of bread down with a swig of what was likely ale. She wiped her mouth without much thought before she replied. "Best chowder in Reine. But ask anyone 'round here and they'd likely tell you the same." Her expression was stoic and her speech blunt, as was her way, and the social intrusion left her feeling vaguely irritated. More likely than not this fellow was just another minor lord passing through the city, looking for local information. After all it wasn't everyday she saw a bear fur coat like that. This fellow either had money or was quite the budding thief. Reid took another few spoonfuls of her chowder before speaking, vocalizing her assumption. "If you're passing through there's an inn just down the way that's pretty clean. Innkeeper's a bit of a loon but fairly harmless. Just don't ask him about all those ducks he keeps 'round. I could point you towards it if you need." |
