It was a pretty day out, one just like in the beginning of a fairy tale. The sun was out sparkling behind a few wisps of clouds, but its beams were dappled by towering maples, aspens, and pines before the sun warmed the ground. A warm breeze with a spark of chill weaved through the under-layer sending the scent of flowers, sunshine, and the coming of autumn. Inhaling deeply a young woman astride a tan horse packed full of belongings lifted her head to the sky with closed eyes and began to hum sweetly to herself. "Merrily we sailed along Though the waves were plenty strong Down the twisting river Rhine Following a song..." Humming under her breath Citrine Redbriar, known as Rain by her close friends and family, entertained herself while she wandered the woods on horseback. Her mid-back amber-red length hair was half done up in a twisted knot held by a twig with the rest curling lightly down her shoulders and beyond. A shine of silver gleamed at her earlobes as simple silver studs that matched a small hanging pentacle pendant. She wore a simple cream tunic layered over a darker fitting shift, with a dark leather belt pinching at her high waist, tight fitting canvas riding pants, and knee length leather wrap boots. A short whip was sitting like a snake in her lap, its braided leather worn and warm from the hot Soto summer. She sat casually on her horse, named Tarot, who kept an easy walk down the well traveled forest path. At this point Rain wasn't sure what road they were on exactly or what town or village they were closest too but that didn't bother her at all. Nope, instead she kept singing, a hum turning to soft words. Legend's faded storyline Tried to warn us all Oh, they called her "Loreley" Careful or you'll fall... Behind her curled up in a traveling basket was a dark grey and brown tabby cat with an orange tinted underbelly. Tail tucked over her face Khalessi, the true Queen of this traveling trio, dozed as only cats could - with grace and without one whit of care. This was her family on the road, a horse and a cat. Really Rain needed to find someone to talk to, and soon, before she started to serenade her companions-not-yet-familiars-but-she-was-damn-certain-there-was-a-bond-there-somewhere-anyways. Voice rising into a casual tempo Rain began to tap on a hand drum tied to the horn of Tarot's saddle. Keeping beat while singing was like breathing to the performance loving witch - the fact it made the general vicinity seem more occupied during these days of solitude was generally ignored. It had been about 4 days since Rain last saw a human being such as herself but it would soon be worth it. According to the map she'd gotten from Rick, who got it from Dean, who said his brother Sam drew the original map before Bobby redrew it with ink, she was just a few lengths from one of "the best vantage points Amaranth Falls had to offer." She'd seen the falls before, who in Soto hadn't, but from the best seat in the house? She couldn't refuse that. Plus all it cost her was a rune casting and palm reading. "Oh, the stories we were told Quite a vision to behold Mysteries of the seas in her eyes of gold... Laying on the silver stone, such a lonely sight Barnacles become a throne, my poor Loreley... Standing up in the stirrups Rain shielded her eyes from the sun and looked out for the landmark that marked the beginning of the off-beaten trail. It was to be a nail in the knot of a tree... of which she had no specifics of height or age. It was now Rain had the inklings that she might of been tricked. Well at least the map hadn't cost her any coin. Pulling Tarot to a stop, but still singing, the witch swung her legs off of the horse and 'hrumphed' her way to a thud on the dusty ground. Soto could use some real rain soon. Humming the chorus as she straightened her tunic Rain took Tarot's face in her hands and skipped ahead to her favorite verse and began to serenade her love to her favorite stallion. "Oh, the song of Loreley Charms the moon right from the sky... She will get inside your mind, loveley Loreley... When she cries "Be with me until the end of time" You know you will ever be with your Loreley..." A hot sweaty snort of horse nose-huff was the only applause she received from the only man in her life. Laughing like a tambourine Rain wiped her face and took the reigns. "Ah come on, yhou un'cultured thin' ye, lets gie ye tae th' falls an' giet ye a goud brushin'. Ah daur say efter thes afternoon's ride ye deserve it.... an' mebbe e'en a carrot." At the word 'carrot' Tarot's ears perked up and he excitedly followed his rider. Too bad the rider had no idea where she was going. |
