Pheonitia It would seem the child was under the impression that she was some sort of god, or the servant of one. Funny how in reality she was a servant of a powerful person, but never a servant of the god, such things did not exist. What was she to do however? It was a child and even if it was an adult who was she to go against the wishes of another, especially since they were doing nothing hostile, on the contrary. They felt they needed to repay the help she had lent them, and in whatever form it would come she would gladly accept it. She appreciated the polite gesture the child had made, taking off the makeshift hat, and on further insight was not the brightest of ideas due to the rain, but the paper was tick and for now it was holding up. After some rustling the child had managed to produce a wooden figurine of a goat, she contemplated in for a moment and smiled, taking hold of the offer. The child was pleased and wanted her to follow him back to the others. There was nothing for her there, at least she thought so, in her mind was guilt… but also hope, that she would soon be reunited with her creator. She did not feel like letting the child down, and with reluctance followed, it was then she felt the same shaking in her right hand again. What is this? Why is this happening? She had no answers and chances were she was not going to find them here, so when she came back to the group she was holding her hand and staring at it, trying to control the shaking. Reunited with the group, the child had gone and alarmed everyone to the injury the blond man had sustained earlier. She gave it a closer look to the wound, trying to forget the fact that her body was out of her control, a hard feat to achieve. Her red eyes accurately sized the wound, and it was pretty shallow, unlike to leave a scar. This was probably due to the fact that the boy still lacked strength and the entry angle was probably not the best due to the spinning motion the man was in. He sure had screamed a lot for such a shallow wound, but then again she did not feel like being brave was one of the man’s best traits. Thomas The skewed meat was beginning to sizzle, and the aroma was quite nice. In his own world he heard nothing, not even the voice of the woman that asked his name, they had to try harder to get his attention now. He had done away with the better part of the crocodile, and was about time to get some food in his belly. He looked around and the bottle was still around, pouring some more on the cup he gave it another gulp, then scratched his face. – Damn ants… - He muttered, they had done quite the job on him, with his face being all red from the bites. With two babes around he was a bit embarrassed to be in such state, but not too much. His so called inner peace was interrupted for a change, by someone has chaotic as him. - You are woundeds! I helps! - Said the boy as he reached out for something. - Wait what? – His eyes widening as he saw the blade the boy had taken hold off. Now THAT had grabbed his attention. – Wa, wai, WAIT! No one is cutting anything!!! He was quick to get up, long had his mind forgotten about the infected wound, but then again he had always made it. His father taught him something about basic medical aid, and he had been surviving with that knowledge, but when things got though there had been always someone to help him through it. Was this such a case? It did not felt like it, but then again what did he knew? Another glance at the knife and he was decided, the right thing had to be done. He did not even listen or saw the older man that was coming to aid him as well, he simply ran for the trees. - Take the apples in the bag, but don’t kill me… - Said the hero of the world from the cover of the tree. |

Juul's gaze kept with the scholar's as he spoke, having finished her predatory, slightly-paranoid scan of the surroundings as the cadence of his utterances washed over her ears. By Vespasian, the man's words were so obtuse! They twisted around, skirting their meaning, it was like shapes in the mist. You could see that they were there, but the finer details were lay beyond, inscrutable. The soldier shrugged her slim, but dense, shoulders and wondered on a response to him. His muttering possibly suggested an aversion to the conversation, but Juul didn't pick up on the cue. After a moment, she replied, her tone slightly unsure. "In Xeric, there's a tribe o' shepherds, I stay with 'em when I'm passing through. Good people, good mutton." she began, slightly wary of judgement as a mindless chatterer by the tall robed one "When a kid is thirteen summers, they send them away from the tribe with nothing but some supplies and a sling. They can only come back if they bring something of worth to the tribe. Could be a tool, could be treasure, could be knowledge of good pasture." She gestured languidly towards the boy, who was at this point hurtling back to the campfire, sporting what looked to be some kind of paper hat. A crown? She wasn't sure, but it looked like the could-be-boggart was following in his footsteps. "Maybe he's got somethin' similar. Most places have a come-of-age ritual." With that, she trailed off, looking at the crocodile meat that was slowly grilling over the fire. She hoped the young boy knew what he was doing with it; she was utterly unfamiliar with the meat. It was dark, like game, but its texture appeared more rubbery. She blinked as a glob of fat slid of the sizzling hunk, to spatter and hiss on the burning logs below. Her stomach writhed inside her, emitting a low gurgle, and she grimaced slightly, hoping the boy hadn't forgotten his charge. She glanced over at the still-unidentified Blondie, who appeared to be ignoring her. Perhaps she had been too hard on him - she was used to the crude flirtations of grubby soldiers, always flexing their biceps or worse, using rough, groping hands predatorily. She had knocked the teeth from many a would-be suitor, and her standard verbal response was either aggressive or dismissive. Men didn't interest her anyway. Her eyes returned to scanning the brush, the light rain obscuring the distant view. Something still did not seem right to her, a nagging feeling at the back of her neck. She had learned to trust that instinct. Her thought process was interrupted by the careening savage, yelling about the wound that Blondie has received, the latter cowering from the boy's frantic administrations. He had a point, she hadn't thought to see to his wound. A spear in the leg could be a serious thing, especially when it had been submerged in the brackish filth that seemed to constitute most of the swamp. She stood, turning to face them both. "If it's a bad one, tree sap and salt, and binding will sort it. I have salt and bindings, if you've a mind fer it." she spoke up, her voice slightly raised to cut through the cacophony "That, rest, and getting out of this damn swamp. Plenty of opportunities fer infection here." Edited by Juul Shaepah, May 14 2014, 06:09 AM.

// Sorry for the somewhat disoriented content and that it took me so long. Feel free to control the NPCs. // // Yada'nok // Without much hesitation nor questions asked Yada'nok shoved the blade he held into the ash, then unwrapping the roll of linen that could have been considered as bandages by someone extremely desperate for the sort. Smiling like a cookie he turned in his crouched position and was just about to grab the injured man's leg when they suddenly bolted off. His mouth fell lightly ajar out of confusement and not even a questioning Hey! escaped him when he stared at the Blondie run all the way up the tree. Well, they were good with climbing, had to give them that, maybe he could race them some time. In more formal and official means than the chase that had taken place earlier, for in that there had been no winner nor honour. Above which, he had been a monkey, therefore making the sides uneven. Nope, it would have to be fair. " Hey! We can'ts treat your woundses if you are up theres! " He yelled from under a commanding frown after recovering from the unamusing counter-reaction, gesturing wildly at the man. Should he drag the moron down before they hurt themselves further? He sure was strong for a twelve-year old in his own Mind, but doubted he was able to execute such only by himself. His look softened a bit when he let it travel to the two ladies in ponder, visiting the Divine first before letting himself to drift into examining the Soldier. It was as if he was awaiting them to do something, folding his arms amidst his indirect request for a helping hand. Or four, since the man might squirm. The brief moment of meaningless silence and staring was soon cut by the Archer's disoriented and scattered words, reaching timidly from atop the branches. His ponytail swung to the side like the whip of a torturer when he turned his head swiftly, hues attempting to portray a type of disappointment. " I was not goings to kill you, oeh pale man up in the tree... " He started, rolling his eyes amidst a somewhat mocking sentence. " You ares an adult, you may so take cares of yourself. " Was not really his way to dismiss a person in need like this, but he didn't see it as an option to force them to accept his help. Not sure if they were to even understand, the oddity that they were, vulnerable to all kinds of misunderstandings. In a type of ignorant conclusion he squatted down before the fire, giving the Divine a little smile and a dip of his magnificent paper hat in reminded gratefulness. Sure was the nicest gift he had ever gotten, if he was not to think back too much. At least now it felt like it, along with being a sign of caring and friendship that he had craved for the past few months. He couldn't name many that were Friends to him anymore, for most were temporarily lost and unreachable, but guess that was his burden to bear as the hardest part of the curse. The boy let his chin descend to rest against his knees, dark eyes staring at the ash whilst his right hand went to retrieve the knife from amidst the grey. His movement was about to take it to where it came from, hidden in its leathercase, but in a light arch of his brows he halted. The flickering stare wrapped around the shiny blade, searched for the reflection that was to look back, but only for a moment before his humming voice directed his thought and the knife was brought down to the dirt. After a bit of a pause, a melody took from behind his shut lips, silent like a whispered song in the wind, but hearable alltogether if one was to pay attention. He couldn't remember the words, but he recalled its notes from the time spent at Soto. The peaceful hum was accompanied by the crackle of the dirt and its stones, his delicate arm swirling above the ground in illustration of symbols and figures that were like a summary of his past days. To him at least, since not too many knew how to read his scribbles. He was the only one they were meaningful to, it wasn't meant any other way. // Galeas // He didn't get to open the saddlebag before the commotion resumed itself and made him freeze his intentions for observation. The cold look was fast to make up that the boy's haste had scared the target of concern to the thick growth that spread itself above, thus condemning them out of reach for the help that was to be offered. The gloved digits withdrew slowly from the buckles of Svala's burden and in light indecisiveness his boots directed to stand on the horse's side, a hand laying a calming stroke from atop its head down to the withers. Its head turned to shed a glimpse upon him, but he wouldn't return the look. The black of its coat shimmered like lead, the surrounding and those around similar in nature for they too were just a collection of heavy and dark edges. At least in the eyes of others torment was increasingly visible, if one was to pay attention to detail and the many shapes that circled their external as a misty reflection of the soul, but guess it was the part of all living beings. When the tribesman's rant calmed down and instead a hum took to flow from their direction, its familiar swirls captured his attention, made space for the Mind that had seen to its duty to escape whenever possible. He knew the song. But to him it was not the present clumsy voice that sang it, but a vivid chirp of a birdlike figure that had long since lost its original beauty. Write it into the sand Sand will keep its word Write it into the stream The water will travel forth Write it into the air The birds will raise upon their wings Write it into thoughts They branch like endless paths Look, where is the Wisdom That build the cities Wrote the libraries Filled them with loneliness When the desert wind flows through your riverbed And the prosperous syllables dry to the back of your throat Write it into the Light The rays will travel to infinity Write it into the Dusk Under Night it will fall Write it into Fear The fear will covet its own image Write it into words Another form is theirs to take When your memory no long- Then all of a sudden the words snapped from his Mind, broken away by a more immediate signal. Even if his observance took to hastily inspect the disturbance, there was no dramatic shift in his external. He shook the empty silence from his being, giving the animal an absent pat on the neck whilst the cyan moved in contained pace to the rest of the colourful collective. Didn't take him too long to to come into a bit more concerning conclusion amidst his suspicions. There were two presences approaching, outsiders to that for what he could count and make up by his skill. Svala's ears were turning in growing anxiousness and now that he was able to sense the source of such feeling, it all came more apparent. Wonder if the Soldier had been aware of the invisible shadows as well, since they sure had seemed horribly restless through the past hour or so. He was not sure if he was to alert everyone, for if there was danger to be had he'd rather make sure the youngling and the mildly injured staid away from it. Not that he cared for their well-being in some specific aspect, rather saw them as an obstacle when it came to everyone's survival. He didn't really have time to meddle over corpses, less so in such a backwood swamp as Loniar. A sharp exhale escaped him and a frown was thrown at the direction of the hum in delayed dismay, but the target seemed to be completely distracted by their own tasks to notice. Wonder what was up with the song anyway, someone as young as that is not supposed to know an amount of nonsense equivalent to the contents of those lyrics. Didn't matter they only knew the melody really, was just as preposterous. In a shake of his head the piercing gaze of his shifted to stab the back of the Soldier's head, words making their way to them in the same silent fashion as before. Was not time to waste now, for he'd rather surprise the opposing company before they did so to his. Of course he wasn't one to decipher if they were to be hostile, but amidst such a place as this one could not be too careful. Or that is the mentality that had enabled him to survive the past, for what it was worth. ' Judging by your restless stature as of late, I am quite certain it is by now clear to you it is not just this miscellaneous gathering that roams these grounds. I suggest we are not to alert the rest, since I- ' His thought was cut yet again, this time by an aghast neigh of the Friesian that was quick to turn on its place and take off like a shade pursued by the Sun. He stared at the darkness to which it blended, collecting himself back together from a lightly scattered state. Guess that was the last warning then. His sharp brows sunk a bit amidst mute determination and he shot the boy a quick 'Stay' gesture with his leather coated hand before turning on his heel. Hopefully they would take it just as if he was pursuing the horse, rather than taking to investigate the unknown possiblity of a hostility. He gave the Soldier a look over his shoulder that could've mean anything in its blank state, then briefing the Ethereal with something similar. Was not his way to ask for help, for he sure was able to take care of himself -to certain extent-, but it was rather a permission granting glance should they decide to grace him with their sustained presences. Might have use for a few swords. Both fiery and of cold steel. And then, without another word, he brought his hands together in a clap and dispersed. When he reappeared, not too far from the camp, he was welcomed by a most terrified gaze that collided with his immobile hues that rather interrogated than questioned this time. By a brief inspection he could tell they were a type of a warrior, but definitely not having their best days. Along with the fact that they were carrying another, probably a comrade in arms if one was to trust the matching armour. " I- I... It ate everyone... We barely escaped from i- " The shaking man started, their posture wavering under the weight that laid limp over their shoulders, a most displeasing experience and fear portraying from their eyes. " Where? " The Sorcerer stated in return, it being more of an order than a suggestion over explanation. It was left hanging however, for the man before him inclined to the side, in attempt to peer behind him for something. They swallowed heavily. " I... Do you have a camp nearby...? I mean... My brother requires medical care. " They stuttered, looking at him up and down. His features were overlaid by demand that was not met, thus all of him staid immobile and unflickering. " No. " It was a lie of course, something he knew he would not think of fondly later, but for now no other answer seemed reasonable to him. If he had wanted to turn the camp into some type of checkpoint and medical camp for weary and half-dead travellers, he would have set a damn illuminated sign for it. Maybe with recorded verbal instructions and a map over that. |

Pheonitia What a sight this was, at least it was what Pheonitia was contemplating while gazing at the boy and the blond man. The boy was confident in his ability to cauterize the wound, despite it being very shallow, the blond man feared for his life, how exaggerated his reaction had been, the pair was a good match. The boy did have the excuse of innocence, the man well… she would rather not judge least not be judged. She turned to smile at the solider, it was what most people would consider a humorous situation, but the solider was not smiling. Turning her attention to the older gentleman he was focused on something else, also not smiling, something was wrong, two people with experience seemed to be on her toes or uneasy in a situation that did not call out for such. She began to search for whatever it was that had both worried about, she would start with humanoid signatures, but just as she began to make use of her natural abilities her hand started to shake once more. This is getting out of control. Is something wrong with my body? It was definably something she should be concerned about, in the meantime her search did provide with results as two new humanoids had approached their area. Friend or foe? Hard to say, but everyone is a friend until they are not. There are at least three people fit for combat in this group, maybe I should just make it look like we are less. Before she could put that last thought into action the magic user gestured the boy to be still and in a clap of hands vanished from sight, she would find his magical signature the next instant near the other two new ones. Impressive, reminds me how I miss that ability. Still what I miss most is flying, with wings. Well the man had his way of doing things, but it did not change anything. Pheonitia simply looked at the woman and gestured to the trees. Quick and graceful movements allowed Pheonitia to elevate herself from the ground and into the trees, in a similar fashion to the blond man. She made sure she would climb the three as high as possible so she could hide herself completely and with a bit of luck have eyes on the ones approaching. From a tall tree branch she saw that one man was carrying the other that appeared to be injured, but appeared was exactly what she was considering. While the older gentleman may be suspicious by nature, I have to take into consideration the uneasy feeling of the solider. As un-logical as it may seem, this instinctive ability of the solider types is not to be taken lightly, better be safe than sorry as the humans of my world say. Thomas Thomas peeked out of sheer curiosity of what was going on, the boy seemed to have come to terms to the fact that there was no catching him. A smile followed by a chuckle was the reaction the archer had to the situation. Victory, thought Thomas and how proud of it he was, regardless if he had been the victor of another cowardly act. Of course this was all part of his survival instincts long passed on by Hawk and probably the only reason why the clumsy archer had been alive for so long was those very teachings, with a bit of cowardice on the side. The smell of the meat penetrated his nostrils. – Oh, I want some… - He moaned about it, but to obtain it meant facing the wrath of the boy and his giant two handed sword. He’s out for blood, my blood. A tribal boy? Must be one of those canneibales*! He had been too trusting of the group he was in, what if the camp fire was just a rouse and they planned on feeding him crocodile before cooking him. That's too stupid, even for you Tom. Still the boy inspired him no trust, but the growl of the stomach meant that he needed to do something. - Hey kid! Listen, if you don’t want to kill me as you say… then maybe you can give me some meat… and my cup... filled! – He pondered. – Maybe if you do that, I’ll come down? – He was as unsure of his last words as he was unsure of the day to come. – I’m not the one that started swinging swords around, so I need proof of trust! *((Cannibals – Tom often struggles with some words.)) |

The soldier remained standing, as she watched the young tribesman plunge his blade into the ash and produce some foul-looking bindings. They would do in a pinch, she reasoned, she had seen worse used on worse wounds. She gave a full belly-laugh as the youngling chased Blondie up a tree, her deep chuckle punctuating the young boy's reasoning with the man. She doubted that Blondie would come down anytime soon - she certainly wouldn't if their positions were reversed. As the little savage looked to her, she could only produce a shrug. She turned away to face the fire once more, as the little one returned to it. She idly watched his alien ritual, as she pondered what to do. She was drying after her dip in the brackish water, though the thick sleeves of her gambeson were still sopping and the bindings around her feet squelched with every step. She was sure to have blisters before the end of the day - she had planned to cover much more ground than she had, and made up her mind to leave as soon as she had eaten and was relatively dry. As the tribesman began his song, her ears pricked up and she began to absently hum along. She had spent much of the past three years in Soto and knew the tune. Her eyes darted up to the scholar, alerted by movement from one who had remained so still for much of the time, her brown eyes observing his calm ministrations to the anxious horse, the fright of which looked to be increasing. Perhaps it wasn't just her old war memories disturbing her - perhaps there was something more. Suddenly, her mind was pierced again, accompanied by the scholar's gaze. It was different from before, which had seemed like a lazy fog, this was far more acute - like a sudden headache or a stubbed toe. She jerked upright, out of her humming malaise, and she made a forceful step towards the scholar with furrowed brows. Her lips peeled back in a snarl, and she bared her teeth in preparation of giving him a severe shouting - but her breath caught in her throat as the man promptly vanished. Damn magickers! I'll pierce his gut if he wants to tap on my skull further! The meaning of his words washed over her as her sudden anger calmed somewhat - with no obvious target to strike at it subsided slightly. The message had not been entirely clear in the first place, and her luddite mind was utterly unused to such eldritch machinations. Still, she knew that something was awry - the man had just disappeared, with no rhyme or reason. She looked to the pale, graceful woman - who elegantly gestured towards the trees before disappearing herself. The hell is going on? The panicked whinny of the horse was the concluding bugle she needed. She returned to her shield, retrieving her byrnie from its temporary shelter and pushed its roughly over her head, ignoring the sharp tugs on her hair as she settled it in place over her torso. She looped her swordbelt around her waist, tightening it with a sharp tug, and carefully buckled her shield onto her right forearm before hefting it. As she made her way back to the fire, she called out. "Blondie! Grab yer bow an' nock an arrow to't. I think something's amiss." She knelt before the tibesman, gesturing with a hastily jerked thumb to the loose flaps of her chainmail, which splayed out across her back like small silver wings. "Do me up, little'un." she ordered, trying to reign in her tendency to become a sergeant at any sign of danger. Her eyes were fixed on the point that the could-be-boggart had shown her "Stick close. No wild chargin'. Yer mate's found summin' an I guess it ain't good." |

// Hope I didn't move too much forth. // // Yada'nok // - Hey kid! Alerted by the sudden call, the boy's hand stopped swirling above the ground, leaving a picture and song unfinished, attention drawn to the yell that reached to his direction. Or so he expected, since there was no other to be called a Kid. His dark hues narrowed in questioning and he shifted in his place to gaze somewhere above, at the face that peeked from amidst branches, eyes glimmering faintly akin to those of a prowling wild cat. In silence he listened, taking in their message and odd request, not sure whether to do as told or... Well, tell them to go shag a horse. Whilst the latter was quite tempting, even illegally so, he chose to grace the man with acceptance and an obedient nod. Not answering anything yet, he levered himself up from the ground and brushed the ash and dust off his hands, then measuring around for that blasted cup the Blondie had left behind. Ah! There... Spotting its form, fallen over in the dirt by the sudden escape of its holder, he slinged a hand to pick it up in an irritated grunt. He gave it a thoughtful brush with the tips of his digits, just to make it somewhat clean and neat, then reaching for that infamous bottle that laid next to the fire. What was he now... Some sort of cupbearer? His stumpy brows knit just a bit above his defiant glare when he raised the beverage up at the man in display of the deed being done, then falling back to his rump on the ground like some cranky teenager, placing the offered item to the ground next to him in similar manner. " Here, has your drinkses. " He gestured lazily, not paying any more Mind to the man and so bouncing a bit closer to the fire in examination of the sizzling dinner. Or was it supper? For all he knew it was Meal time, above all else, for he had already created an appetite for the whatever meat there was. He mostly didn't enjoy eating animals and other things similar, but during the whiteness of some foul creature Winter there had not been any fruit or other delicacies, thus he had been forced to get used to the stringy substance. Good thing he had the cookie, it would make for a nice dessert. Not sharing with the Blondie though. He removed the dead pipe from the corner of his mouth, giving it a little cleansing knock against a little stone before slipping it inside his cloak through the collar, stare fixed on the roasting crocodile. It did smell and look ready, if he was any judge. Probingly, he reached for one of the skewers, letting out a little hiss from between his teeth at the heat when his hands strayed a bit too close to the flame. Giving the limb a hasty shake and the food itself a little blow, he rolled the stick on his eye level for a moment. " Wants some of this foods too, Mister Bowman? " His irritation now having calmed down, he threw a sincere tone at the man, waving the skewer in the air invitingly whilst smiling as widely as ever. Were they to decline, would they end up a greater fool than he had thought. A beginning of a whistle escaped him when he stuck the skewer to the ground beside the cup of some-sort-of-horrid-liquid, making the masterful offering of peace complete, and extended his arm to take another for himself. Was when the horse expressed its terror and chose to excuse itself from the camp, both loudly enough for him to bolt up and grab his spear out of reflex. Animals going nuts was never good... Above which, it was his Friend's steed, its absence meaning that he too was about to be stuck in the middle of nowhere and his return to the Family horribly delayed. Was not going to do... In the slightest. Better go after. " Svala! " He shouted after the being, its figure nothing more than another shadow in between the mighty trunks that built the forest. Giving the ground a forceful, disappointed kick he had been about to sprint after the fearful equine like a headless chicken, but the ordering gesture by the Sorcerer made his momentum come to a stop. What nows!? We needs to catches the Horsie, dammit! Staying at halt in great reluctance, he observed as the magician took off as swiftly as the Friesian had, his frown deepening just a bit in annoyance. Was he not to follow for the pursue then? A shame, for he enjoyed a good chase once in a while. The Shield Maiden was in some sort of a rush now as well, having leaped up and hurrying to regain their armour all around. He stared with a lightly raised brow, arms hanging aimlessly next to his sides in confusement and anticipation. When they approached him personally and turned their back at him, he let out a disoriented 'Um...' and managed to just blink at the silvery attachments in puzzlement. He traced the straps and the supposed counterparts they were to be knit in order of fastening, his tanned hands traveling cautiously to do the pattern the best way he saw fit. Couldn't be that hard after all, could it? He begun from down as requested, working it one by one until the whole spine came to a close, then taking a step back as if an artist that was now to admire his work. " That good, Shields Lady? " He asked in conclusion, a pinch of timidness having crept into his tone. He was not exactly afraid of the red headed small woman, but neither was he completely comfortable. Screwing up a Knight's armour was probably frowned upon, if not punishable, therefore he wouldn't stand too close to them in case they were to strike a swing. Not that he expected them to, they had been nice and friendly so far, given him a share of the crocodile carcass and all that, what with being an honourable Tooth Collector in their own right. - Stick close. To the order he nodded in agreement, regaining his heroic posture and the weapon to be held sturdily in his hand, ready to follow on the Lady's heel like some underdressed, savage squire with an exceptionally fancy paper hat. Above which, he gestured a proud salute, bringing his feet together to stand straight and hoisting a hand with three fingers pointing upwards in some trained signal. " Yesses, Lady! " // Galeas // There was a pause, during which the newcomer measured him up and down, obviously doubting his word. He didn't really need any of his talents to tell that much from their disbelieving stare. However, what worried him more than their realization over his lie, was the restless glancing they executed over their shoulder every now and again, as if they were awaiting something to attack any second. He inclined his head to the side just a bit, to shed a glimpse behind the figure and the path they had arrived from, his calm standing in great contrast against that of the opposing party. " W-we can't stay. We must... must run. " The man begun once again, shivering in their spot and correcting the position of the unconcious on their person. They had been about to take a step past him, but he raised a hand swiftly, gloved palm pushing flat against the stained chestplate. A nearing presence tugged his senses then, somewhere back and above, and he felt a pair of observant eyes on him. The fact that someone was probably watching the terribly twisted scene, the Ethereal being his guess, did not matter too much in his Mind, for he wasn't one to care for the judgement placed upon him by others. He had held worse opinions about himself in the past than these people ever could, for sure. Denying aid from a frightened warmongrel was but a droplet in the sea of dismayed deeds. " Maybe I wasn't being clear. " His chilly hues wrapped around those of moss that slowly turned to stare back, some additional strength swirling to his fingertips in preparation to place a counterforce to a possible escape attempt. " Where? " Seemingly confused and horribly indecisive the excuse of a warrior tossed their index in delayed response, to the path that snaked into the dark of the trees behind them, to the right. Having gotten what he asked for the Sorcerer released them, the channeled tension disappearing from his veins when he stepped past the person in a nod. " Hey! You just going to leave us he- " They yelled at his back after getting their voice back together, lowering the body they carried to sit on the ground and positioning it to lean against one of the slippery trunks carefully. His sharp half turn was enough to interrupt their demanding sentence, spectacles under his vision emitting a faint glimmer against the pale light of a rainy sky that made itself through the dense branch roofing from above. " Your misfortune and injury is not mine, therefore I am not obliged to provide you with aid and guidance. However, the threat you acknowledged and chose to bring to my immediate reach is a shared matter. Thus, I will see to it. " He threw a glare over his shoulder to accompany the words voiced to narrate the situation as it was from his perspective, then resuming his step in a dismissive wave of his hand. Amateurs. *** In the distance loomed an opening, yet minimal light due to the entwined nature of the ancient trees surrounding it. Any rain had hardly passed through the ceilinglike growth above, the path towards crackling as if it was coated by dead beetles, no matter a sudden swamp pool crept to surprise every step in the misty gloom. When he finally stopped, for a moment he heard nothing, no faint chirp of an odd bird, no forever present buzz of the cicada... Even the susurrus of the circling forest Wind had wrapped away. His hooded head turned in investigation whilst the features remained akin to those of a severe tombstone, one more probing yet unafraid step passing to the writhing grass of the spherical area. The environment seemed to have gone dead in more than one aspect, for in the distance he could see dismembered figures or something similar to ripped apart piles, their immobile forms dotting the edge of the continuing forest on the other side. Seems the man had not been lying, bringing him to wonder whether to be impressed or concerned. The omen the corpses posed didn't seem too bright, was he to go further. Figuring he was alone, no matter the essences and footsteps that now drew nigh from behind, he stood still, both enjoying the silence and serenity as well as giving the surrounding time to notice him. He was in a better position in a halt, rather than moving for in such a case one was more vulnerable for being crept upon. Or leaped, if one was to keep in Mind there was some type of a mindless maneater running loose. Monsters hardly stabbed in the back swiftly, rather had a feral approach that was based on speed and exceptional size. In case those people had not gotten eaten by an abomination of a mouse, which he doubted greatly due to the frase ' It ate everyone '. The opposite would've been absurd and against all the rules of the twisted Nature. The sound that took place all of a sudden, echoing across the portrait of the lifeless , one-sided battlefield, surprised him displeasingly. It was similar to something he had heard for weeks now, the heavy gait of hooves, pushing forward in a lazy stride, iron grinding against the fragments of dirt. His gaze narrowed and the air around him rippled by the channeled barrier, an invisible glaze surrounding him weakly. One could make up without effort that it was a horse, absently stomping forth like any animal in their calm ignorance, the shadowy edges of it standing in little contrast against the rest of the monochrome of a surrounding. Svala? Seems it had not been too far off after all. In a sharp exhale of contained relief and some disappointment he let his defenses crumble, about to make it to the animal and drag it the hell back to the camp. A more disturbing and soundlessly appeared signal took then from almost the same direction as that of the familiar being, his hues seeking out a personality of small stature, their slouching form reaching one shaky, dark limb over to the equine. They seemed to be whispering, tone innocent and dry in the throat, posture suggesting a childlike bearing. " You brought us more.... Good boy. " |

Pheonitia Her red eyes caught some of the words the two strangers were exchanging with Galeas, she could read them on their lips, a trick long learned since her sight was so clear and precise, but what she saw worried her. Not just the words but the uneasiness of the two, not to mention one of them was wounded, it was not much of a stretch to think that they could have been attacked by someone or something, but what? I need do to take a closer look and I can easily jump from tree to tree, no worries about that. And so she did, she jumped to the next tree, trying to be as silent as possible, to avoid detection from an unknown foe, at least the possibility of a foe, one she could not sense just yet. As she went to grab another branch her body started to act up again, it was stronger this time around and missing the branch she was sent falling down the trees, the ground met her body with great force and she felt like her magical binds had shaken up completely, it was not pain she felt but an uneasiness of sorts. Nothing she had not experienced before, along with limb dismemberment and such injuries alike but for some reason this was slightly different, her body was not right, it was something more. As she struggled to get up, alone, detached from her group, her eyes widened and she began to feel, sense everything and anyone around her, every magical signature within range began to assault her body, she remembered this feeling from back when she had discovered that magic vault, too late she realized what was happening to her. Her body was tuning with this world. Pheonitia began to feel her core temperature rising, the muddy ground began to boil until it was dry, she took from the insides of her robe the wooden figure the boy had given her and she tried to take the smaller book she was using to pass notes to people but by then her hand had already caught fire, her robes began to burn away, she could not avoid to let out a loud screech as her body’s magical essence was being rewritten. She was nothing more than a figure engulfed in flames as her body began to hover a few centimeters in the air. She looked up trying to cope with all the energy she was receiving. It is too much, I cannot process so much I need to focus. I need to focus some of this energy elsewhere. She had an idea and she attempted to summon of her magical rapier, and as she held it head high she attempted to focus on it the remaining energy she was not able to absolve. The flames converged to that point and the rapier shifted in shape becoming a larger sword, like a short claymore with bird heads for a hilt. As quickly as it happened, it stopped and she was gently lowered back on the dry ground, the previous damage sustained from the fall had been healed in the process. She glanced at the sword in her hand, and just to be sure summoned back her rapier in the other hand. I can use both! I need to learn how to dual wield however, best stick to one for now. Also, danger approaches, I must help. She dispelled the rapier and picked up the wooden figurine from the ground. She stuck it in the sash of her dress, lost was the robe and then picked up her magical quill and stuck it in the hair. With her new sword in hand she rushed to meet up with the old sorcerer. Thomas The boy was suspicious, but why was the boy suspicious? If anything Thomas was the one that had that right, a crocodile had tried to eat hit, then a savage had tried to kill him, probably to eat him has well. There were too many things trying to make a meal out of Tom, so why would they look that way him? He should be the one giving people looks and not the other way around. His stomach began to growl, he was hungry. So when the boy agreed to give him the things he had asked for he was more than pleased. – B-But… I can’t reach that cup unless I go down. – He said has the boy left a cup full of wonderful liquid and then he came back with a skew of warm crocodile meat. Guess I’ll be eating you! I win! Or do I? He was unsure, as those two things that he wanted so much were out of his reach. Wind darn it! Fine… - He said as he decided to get down from the tree so he began to climb down and the other could hear a loud thud in the next instant. – I’m OK! – Thomas said peeking from behind the tree with a mud covered face. As he came from behind the tree, trying to wipe the mud clean of his face he started the boy down. – Leave my leg alone now, no fancy ideas… - He was going to grab hold of his food and drink when the solider woman warned out for danger, he glanced back at the tree he felt so safe before, and for a moment he thought to just get back up there. He didn’t… I will show her that I’m a brave hero of this world, just you wait and see babe! He jumped and made a clumsy roll on the ground to reach his bow and quiver, he attached the quiver to his belt, took and arrow from it and with his bow in hand he readied the arrow. If one did not know better it would seem that Tom was an expert bowman, his technique was peculiar not one an amateur would adapt, if anything it showed that Thomas had an instructor that actually knew what he was doing. – Ok carrot head, you tell me where to shoot. – Not sure I will hit, but… |

The soldier waited patiently, as the young boy set about his task at her back. She leaned forward slightly in her crouch, allowing the boy easier access in his unsure endeavours. Though she could not see his somewhat delicate work, the gradual tightening of the mail over her bust told her that his efforts were sufficient. As he was doing so, she checked the buckles and straps of her greatshield, tightening one and loosening the other. As the boy's hands crept upwards, she felt their ministrations become more sure. At his conclusion, she stood and shrugged her shoulders, and found the byrnie sitting adequately. She turned, grinning at the boy's salute, which bore more than a passing resemblance to that used by sailors of Kraken's Rage. Since when had that boy been a sailor? "A fine work, youngling. I'll make a squire o' ye yet." she spoke, gracefully inclining her head in appreciation. She shifted slightly, her eyes becoming set, her tone more serious "Remember littl'un, you stick close. Keep behind me. Use the reach o' ye spear to jab at 'em, whate'er they be." She drew her sword smoothly, her eyes vainly trying to pierce the veil of misty rain and undergrowth to ascertain where their erstwhile companions had disappeared to. She swung the blade downwards, before rolling her wrist and arm in a series of deliberate, loping figure-of-eights. The steel became a dull blur as it whipped the air, and the soldier felt blood running to her shoulder and back, warming the muscles. Fighting cold was a bad idea at the best of times, and she knew not what they were to face. Her warming achieved, she took a couple of tentative steps towards where the fey lady had gestured before her disappearance, but her progress was checked by the tumbling Blondie. She turned her head at his bumbling progress, but was genuinely surprised at his equipping and readying of arms. He looked experienced, and she saw him anew somewhat, observing the smooth draw his bandy arms would produce. She grinned at him, one half of her upper lip curled upwards as she gave a wink. "Carrot head eh? I hope ye shoot better'n ye sling mud." she goaded, her tone good-natured, before she looked back in Pheo's direction "Ye see anythin'?" She made her way forwards with careful, deliberate steps, her shield raised and her eyes keen. There was some disturbance in the trees above and ahead. It was muted by the distance, as was the following hiss, somewhat akin to a boiling kettle, and what looked like thicker precipitation. Her eyes narrowed. What could be out there..? // Yada'nok // The boy kept nodding at the Shields Lady, ponytail bouncing up and down in tune to his wild movement. The dark hues shot over his shoulder when the Blondie chose to crash down from the tree, letting out a little kiddish chuckle at their hasty notion and dirty face. Haha, silly man. His toothy smile remained, if not growing wider, as the swordwielder gave him the thumbs up for his work with the armour, hands correcting around the polished pole of his spear in preparation. Lets goes then, there be monsters to get trophies fromses! The Archer seemed to now have taken hold of their respected weapon too, making him shift out of the arrow's pointed direction in caution. Taking in notion how the man had acted so far, he didn't trust their bowhandling skills one bit. Not even if their grasp on the bow was relatively experienced, looking from the distance he tried to keep. He took little steps away from the man, measuring them up and down judgingly in an open manner. - Ye see anythin'? The call, directed at the Divine, made his attention turn towards the Soldier once again and as he noticed them having moved towards the bushes he was hasty to stumble after. One should obeys orders after alls. He gave a Blondie one more glance, pointing his index and middle at his eyes and then at the man. I'll be watchings you... And he sure was going to, if not for the sake of everyone else, then for the safety of his own back. He swung his spear to point vaguely in front, at the ready to... jab at stuff as the Lady had put it. They had mentioned there might be more than one opponent to face, over which he was more excited than intimidated by, for now there would be enough for all of the company to land a kill to. In case the Fire Ethereal was not going to sweep them all out before he got to the scene. He waded through the bushes, moving the thorny branches aside with the blade he held, gaze inspecting all around him. Was not often that he staid completely silent, but now was one of those times, concentration and wariness forming a frown upon his cheerful features, tongue pressed against the back of his teeth. For a moment he heard nothing but the clink of armour before him and the rustle of leaves against varied figures, but then there was a yell. " Hey, you there! Don't go, please. " A man's voice reached from the distance, their dark form looming between the thick oaken trunks. They were waving franticly, and as he tilted his head he was able to see another, laying their back against one of the trees. More injureds? His look shot at the Lady briefly, as if looking for acceptance, after which he bolted past them and their huge shield, disobeying the orders given just a few minutes ago like the impulsive child he was. All that had been said to educate vanished from his Mind, replaced by the need and will to help. Everyone and everything. He was not sure where the Sorcerer had gone by now, but the two that had popped to the scene like thimbleweed from a pile of snow surely were in a more acute need of assistance. The Magic folks can keep themselves. The fleetfoot was fast to reach the muddy and bloodsoaked duo, but before rushing blindly to their laps he slowed down his stride, then stopping to a distance questioningly and lowering his spear just slightly. They looked at him as if they weren't sure whether he was going to understand any of what they were to say, damn racist, but approached him anyway and gestured at the unconscious comrade. " Hey, um, boy, could you... " There was a pause mid-sentence when the stranger craned their neck to see past him, peering at the Lady and Blondie no doubt. Yada'nok frowned, folding his arms in childlike annoyance. How dare they ignore him... Fine thens. " Can you help us? I- I can't... " They started again, sweeping their dirty forehead as their words died into their mouth, turning into a sobbing mumble. Was shortly after that their brother in arms let out a grunt and a mutter, nothing but a name repeating under their heavy breath. - Jydar...Jydar...Jydar... The wounded warrior stared at the mouth that moved subtly in the otherwise immobile body, then letting their look wander over the yonder to the darkness. " Hell... Jydar..." Having recalled something crucial they turned rapidly on their heel, hues of murky green directing to those present pleadingly. " Look after my brother. I need to go back. " And then, without another word the man ran off, in the greatest pace a weak person with a light limp could. " Hey! You can't just dumps your friendses to us! " The tribesman shouted after, a growl in his outraged tone. Without hesitation he took a leap after the fledling like a hungry - more like starving - predator, jogging to the man's crackling wake. " I need to find the kid! I promised! " " Come backs, dammits! " // Galeas // His stare staid pierced through the mist, observing something that could've been claimed as both intimidating and endearing sight. To him it hadn't proved itself as neither for now and since there was yet to be a sign for him to have been noticed, he remained at his standing. He heard faint shouts from somewhere behind, mere whispers from the depths of the marshland, accompanied by a light breeze that dusted the branches above in a ghastly creak. The fog wavered, swirling above the ground of the clearing and moving to snake further throught he woods, the scenery regaining its hard and cruel edges from behind the veil of grey. His gaze narrowed. The shorter figure was still reaching a hand at the dark animal that had seemed to be only minding its own business until now, its long face slowly sinking down to meet the hand. But against to what he had expected, there were no loving strokes nor greetings to an animal friend. Just a grinding series of pleads, amidst a croak of an inhale. Was when the image got clear enough and he could see it was no youngling next to the horse, but a grown man in similar armour as the ones before, its violated and stained glimmer distinguishable against the dark of the surrounding. Their excuse for the lack of height was the absence of their legs, their figure standing on mere severed stumps in attempt of grasping the black equine. - Mercy... The warrior was able to grab the being's mane, but only for a moment before slipping to the ground unbalanced, face down to the dried mud. Amidst the twisted struggle before him he was able to notice the nearing commotion somewhere behind his back, the figure of the Ethereal coming to sight when he glanced over his shoulder for a split of a second. Unable to pay attention to greater detail, only making up there had been a change of attire and weaponry, he hoisted a gloved hand to his side in a halting manner. ' Stand back. ' He was not one to boss others around, a self-willed familiar at the least, but his suspicion was highly suggesting that rushing out at the possibly hostile unknown was against the simplest common sense and self-preservation. Above which, he was not done investigating the situation and was assured that the Ethereal's appearance was to disrupt it greatly. If not turn it to the worse. Circled by silence the horse shifted closer to the fallen, the step as rough as the voice that erupted in a calming hiss from its direction. - Shhh... And then, quite unceremoniously, the nightly animal slinged its head and grabbed the shoulder of its prey, ripping their arm off in one ferocious move. There was a maelstrom of sounds; a tormented scream shattering the air, adding to an orchestra of bones crackling, chainmail unwinding in a cheerful chime, an empty shoulderpad colliding with the hard ground in a lazy clang, all brough together under an unending munch of equine jaws when the beast devoured the person piece by piece. He could do nothing but stare at it, the ice of his eyes as frozen as the rest of him, the restraining arm staying at its raised state. As if in conclusion to its meal, the demon threw its head up and jerked its ears around, the silver of its phantasmal glare searching before locking into his respected direction. For a second there, he was able to see himself and those around sharing the faith of the man that was no longer anything more than a crimson pile of... nothing recognizable. But, as the complete opposite of a reaction and outcome, the horse didn't slink at him to deliver a personal apocalypse, but turned and galloped away at haste as if someone had just sprinkled holy water on it and thus scared it off. He felt eerie relief, along with disappointment, but due to former experiences with the type of creatures as this he was quite confident to claim that it would be back. When least expected, most likely. The Sorcerer lowered his arm and let it flop to his side, clothed head shifting to seek a link with the Ethereal Lady. " Should return. " He muttered in suggestion and advice, turning on his heel slowly as a vessel, his bearing setting towards that which he spoke of. |

Pheonitia As she ran trough the forest she sensed the unknown duo was going in the opposite direction she was heading, but as Pheonitia searched for the scholar she knew he was still up ahead. Thinking the warrior was more than enough to handle the two if they were to be trouble, she rushed to see if the older gentleman required her assistance. As the words assaulted her mind she complied but could not help but feel offended, in the past she had never used her ability without the persons consent, not that she felt Galeas ability was alike the one she used since with her ability she actually placed herself on the light conscious of the individual, and that had led to awkward moments were she would listen in to peoples thoughts. However in her present state she could not use such ability, or could she? Still, she felt offended. Only my Lord orders me around Sir, I am older than you, most likely wiser too. No need to stop me in such a rude manner, you want to be left alone, I can understand that. She did not realize that ever since she had taken the form of a humanoid and was forced to deal with people that she started to take things a little more personalty, no Pheonitia thought of herself as emotionless as her Lord told her she was. Still, her train of thought was closer to that of a human instead of a being without emotion. As she gazed on what happened to the person in front of her she could not help but feel confused, not shocked, no... she could have not done anything to prevent the twisted fate of the man in front of her. She was confused because of the attacker, she gazed to the old scholar and she could see it in his eyes. They were both thinking the same thing and she immediately dispelled her sword. We need to regroup if we are to make it out of here as a whole. I am not concerned for my safety, but not everyone made of magic. Yes their fellows were still back there, and the old mage agreed with her thoughts as he muttered the words. These clothes are hardly fitting for combat, but what can I do? Maybe... Yes, maybe there is something I can do about that. While my form is locked by my Lord, my clothes are not, maybe I can change those. This was what was going on in Pheonitia's mind as they made their way back to the others. Thomas - What in the wind's name was that? - Tom said out loud as he heard something coming from the woods, a loud screeching sound he could not quite identify. His confidence from before was gone in a instant, this is it Tom, this is the end of the road for you. You should have run, you should have run. Now you will die an horrible death, I guess you were the meal of the day after all. As he looked to the boy and the woman, they were both there, standing strong, fearless. Why could he not be as them? He wanted to be so badly, but in a moment two people came in. - Wait?! Carrot top, I can't shoot people, they are people... I can't do this! - He could not, he was strongly against the killing of humanoids, good or bad. Luckily it did not seem they came to hunt them down, still he aimed his bow, but did not draw back the arrow as luck might screw him over and an arrow would be sent flying against someone, it happened before. As they spoke he understood that they were no thread, and he could not help but let out a sigh, and then after dropping the injured person the limping man went back. - Hey! Don't... now what? He was a lost here, what would you do Hawk? His mentor would have the answer to this and all questions, when he was still with Hawk life was easy, the path clear, the coin was enough. Left alone Thomas had accomplished half of what Hawkings did and he felt frustrated about it. Many years had passed since and never did he lay eyes on his mentor once again, it was like Hawk was avoiding him, like he knew. Where are you? Sadness became him for a moment, but not for long, too much was happening and he could not lower his guard, Tom had to stand up to the situation for once in his life he could not abandon these people, he owed them his life. What kind of a man would he be if he ran and left them to a grim faith? No man at all... Hawk would be ashamed. |

A moment of indeterminate fraughtness descended on the trio by the fire - a feeling not unlike the still horror that descended on soldiers about to charge, a terrible pregnancy of unsure fates. They were ready, they were equipped, but a lack of definite direction and a common foe left a feeling of unease next to the fire. The soldier could sense it, even as she was acutely aware of the anxiety welling in the pit of her own guts, but a clear path was not laid out for her. Her mind whirled back to the heady days of the Morrimian advance through the swamp, tangling with Ashokan scouts and troops in clever ambuscades. She had had faith then, in her own sword-arm and those of her comrades - her troops now were of a rather inconsistent quality. Her mind snapped back to the present; she needed to focus. It had been some moments since the two eldritch members of their group had upped and gone, and she had received no sign from either, other than a few odd noises that had blended with the constant patter of rain. At least there had been no thunder or lightning for an hour or so - she didn't trust either of her present comrades not to flee. The mewling protestations of the bowman reached her ears as she made to slowly advance - they were like sparks on the tinder of her unease. She whirled, her brow furrowed, and rapped the blade of her sword against the rim of her shield, as she snarled. "Ye best learn soon, blondie," she spat viciously, her lips curled back over her teeth in a contemptuous sneer as she took two threatening steps towards the bowman "Between men an 'beasts, there ain't much in it. Ye stand, or ye run. I'll warn ye - do the latter an' I swear I'll stick ye m'self." For effect, she rapped the blade twice more, the metallic thud a distinct peak among the pattering rain and crackling fire that made up the sonic landscape. Angry now, she whirled back in the vague direction she had been heading. Her footfalls echoed her mood, heavy and projecting an air of aggressiveness. At that point, the youngling who had been dutifully behind her disappeared into the wilderness, careening wildly into the brush. She barked, akin to a dog, after him. "Yada!" She made to follow him as deftly as she could, though her size and heavy harness left her distinctly less fleet of foot than the young tribesman. Thick brush whipped and rattled against her shield, and she nearly lost her footing heading down the slope of the hammock of land. Her speed was slowed considerably as she waded through the brackish water, up to her knees. She had lost sight of the young boy, and her vision was obscured by rain, but still she pressed onward to the next dry sanctuary. She took stock, and saw three shapes silhouetted in the misty rain, bordered in her vision by two gnarled trees - of the old man and the fire-maiden, there was no sign. She pressed on, arriving a heartbeat after one of the men - they appeared to be soldiers - fled the scene, followed by the tribesman's frustrated cries. She arrived, her breath a little ragged, as she grabbed the young man's cloak, pulling him backwards. She made to cuff him, but thought better of it - to take out her own frustrations on a child was unjust. "Stick close!" she hissed, giving a sharp tug of his cloak before immediately releasing him. She peered at the wounded man, taking in his features and armour. He appeared to be a sellsword, unremarkable in his equipment, much like herself. He was grimacing, and writhing in pain, and she knelt next to him. She gently placed a gauntleted hand on his shoulder, and pulled him towards her. Her voice was soft, though the tone remained a little authoritarian. "Man up, soldier. What's goin' on? Where's yer mate goin'?" Edited by Juul Shaepah, Jul 13 2014, 02:34 PM.

// ARGH. Sorry it took me this long IswearIwillbegoodlaterdunkillme. // // Yada'nok // " YNGH! " The boy let out a high pitched grunt upon being denied his advance, the Soldier's forceful arm at the end of his cloak. He scattered, falling down to his bum shortly after. His widened gaze went to meet the Lady's eyes when they repeated their order, a disappointed pout forming upon his confusion. He traced as they released his garment and turned to tend to the runaway's friend, his hands extending to aid him on his quest of gettin up from the muddy ground. A tanned arm swung to pick up the spear that had dropped from his grip upon the unexpected halt, bringing it to stand next to its wielder. His brows knit just a bit, dark eyes under them seeing to the direction which the man from before had disappeared to, a rainy murk between the trees calling him to follow. He stood still, staring for a good moment, the somewhat one-sided conversation from behind him capturing only half of his attention. That reckless runner would get themselves killed alone in the woods, he figured, scratching his head absently. His curiousity was slowly getting the best of him and he glanced over his shoulder innocently, seeing the two soldiers commencing and the frightened Archer sticking to the background. Like they were to stop him... The man glanced up, fatigued stare ajar towards that whom approached. They swallowed heavily, breaking out into a cough under their shallow breath the same second, bowing their head in attempt of directing it elsewhere. In a faint thud a hand was placed on their armoured shoulder shortly after, questions floating in the air in a womanly voice. What, where, when, who... Indecisive over which to answer first, the wounded shifted on their place, exhausted and aghast gaze searching out the Lady's. " Don't let him... Don't. It's wrong... " Their voice started, sentence interrupted by another cough reeking of iron. The sellsword took a moment to gather themselves, in a more literal sense than was healthy, trying a few more words amidst the gurgling inhales. " Stop them... " *** Having sneaked off amidst it all, not caring for the yells that might have ordered him to stay, the boy tracked down the limping individual, jumping over pools and puddles like a gliding squirrel. They had not been hard to find, the wet ground holding quite a bit of information over their trail that zigzagged along the trunks, all the signs leading to a lit clearing. Like the long awaited light in the end of the tunnel. He picked up his pace, arriving to the opening. The brother-abandoning-person was there too, as expected, and in a wolflike growl the tribesman leaped to tackle them without further notice. Quick to bounce up, he placed his foot over the man's chest and pointed his trusty blade between their eyes, mere inches from their shivering skin. A beastly snarl took over his face to deliver the message. " I tolds you to stops, Hastylegses. " His tone directed and he leaned a bit closer to the person's face in addressing, as if scolding a child. The man was only staring back at him, head and hands shaking whilst the mouth muttered a number of excuses and empty apologies. A branch cracked under a foreign foot, from a direction that was neither behind or front. Not withdrawing from holding the man still he pointed his spear at the sound by reflex, derangingly angry glare searching the source of it. There was yet another figure, way smaller than those of the sellswords, a few inches shorter than him even if he was to measure from the distance in between. They were slowly walking towards him, heavy rain dripping all over from their oversized clothing, slender arms limp under the stained sleeves. He didn't like the colour of the dirt on them. - Why are you... hurting him? The child questioned, an eerie calmness in the green eyes that hoisted to inspect him. // Galeas // He had partly expected the Lady to rush the weird animal, having had their weapon in the ready along with other flaming talents, but surprisingly did the contrary. Finally a piece of the assorted expedition that was not a complete fool, blazing ferocious or utterly reckless, as was the case for the others. Upon turning in suggestion he had spied a change of attire, not neccessarily to the better. Instead of seeming like a humble traveler with an inpractical pair of footwear, they were now the embodiment of a lost noblelady, as if they had ran off from some flashy ball. He wasn't one to judge fashion in more than practical sense, but if he was to mention something positive they sure did wear their colours well. A nice gown, somewhat, ready to be defiled by the rain and mud that awaited all around. So that is why the shoes had seemed so out of place... When their eyes had met for that short moment, he had sensed the faint fragments of the umbrage taken, floating in a foglike state somewhere behind those fiery orbs. Whether the feeling was towards his commanding gesture or words delivering it further, he wouldn't know. Taking it was a woman he spoke to one might as well have assumed both combined, if he was to trust his experience in the slightest. The so-called assault through telepathy had gained him similar offended looks before, not that he had ever expected the forced exchange of thought to be exceedingly pleasant to the receiver. It was infiltration to one's most personal and closed realm, their Mind, thus they had all the right to be a bit... uncomfortable. Nevertheless, he refused to apologize, for in this case it had all been by evident necessity. Or so he told himself. His pace kept on the side of calm, whilst muted glances observed the surrounding from under his light frown. The silence felt artificial and he wasn't to let himself fall under the illusion of being safe just yet, if not due to the monster then for the eldrich being accompanying him, their crackling footsteps reminding of their existence. He had curiousity for them and that which they had written of, the past and the mentioned troubles, something he was not sure they were to share about should he have opened a debate. Secrecy was a quality which rather intrigued him than intimidated, calling him for voicing a question over the matter even if it would've been of Politess to submit into dismissing it. He was horrible at executing such a thing. " If I may pry, what is the trouble you are in exactly? " He begun in attempt of breaking the pressuring quiet, slinging a look over at the Ethereal. There was no demand in his voice, its peaceful tone of sincere interest rather than interrogation. Were they a criminal or not, he wouldn't really care for the situtation left little room to picking one's allies. Backgrounds had little value in danger and outskirts, least so in the Swamp which had formed into some sort of a meeting point to more or less otherwordly montrosities as of late. The rain was hitting heavily above the thick branches, dripping down from between more and more as the path advanced back to its root. A displeased hum escaped him and one gloved hand reached in gesture, movement of his digits conjuring a weak barrier. It blocked out the downpour, only displaying a halo of deflected droplets when it kept the nature from reaching him in a spherelike fashion. Some muffled yells echoed through the slosh of the surrounding then and he halted for a moment, gaze narrowing in ponder. If he was any guess the direction held the rest of the group, if not a few additions due to the shouts. Maybe they had discovered the wounded duo from before... He resumed towards the newfound bearing in an accelerated gait, keeping from running even if he suspected urgency in the voices. Was not long that he reached the splayed out scene, slipping through the last bushes as gracefully as he could to the open. The chilly hues shot around with haste, spotting only a part of the recent company. He tried extending his search on another level, but was not able to find that which he browsed for. Keeping his spot and distance he raised his voice to question everyone around in general, tone feigning a passive disinterest. " Where is the boy? " |

Pheonitia The rain now poured down on them, on the swamp, on the tree branches, animals… on the desecrated corpses mauled by the manifestation of evil now behind them. How unpleased sensation it left on her artificial skin, how appalling it was when the water ran down her back, along her arms and slowly down her legs. Her long nose, dripped with it, so inconvenient it now was, but her Lord had a vision, a vision of broken beauty in form of an elf. The long nose and small mouth, the perky ears and large eyes, all a whim of a man who hardly took advise from anyone but himself, even Pheonitia had problems getting her voice across his mind at times. She hated rain, she hated water, she hated the wet sensation along her body, if she were to think as to why, it was simple, the fire inside her retracted to it, like a battle of foes, if not for the arcane imbued body, it would be more than a nuisance, it would probably be fatal. Now was not the time to linger on thoughts that led nowhere, that offered no solution to the problem at hand. Like it or not, there was no weakness to the liquid element, her mind would have to shrug it off, what was a greater nuisance this time around was the man next to her, asking questions and has it poured down so heavily upon them, writing was no longer viable. Pheonitia was also torn, she would take this kind of abuse from her Lord, but she did not feel such conduct was appropriate coming from this man. If she were to strip both man side by side, her logical mind would have to agree they were not so different after all, and the realization that Lord Verithas would not behave in a different fashion than the aging mage next to her gave her some comfort. Yes, logical! However how could Pheonita communicate her troubles and worries? Another whim of her Lord was her lack of proper vocal cords, she could not use them to communicate. The man must have had that and oh so many other questions in his mind, who would walk the swamps in a fashion such as she did? In the end the Bird of Rebirth simply shook her head with followed by a light shrug, there was no way to get her message across, not while raining, not while under such a downpour of the unpleasant. Eventually they made their way to the others, but plural was an improper use of the term, other would be more exact. In sight she did not see the young native or the blond man, but when she tried to find both, she sensed the man leaving the area in a speedy fashion, away from them, away from the danger. The boy however worried her, she could not sense him, has he masked his signature? Or could it be, somehow his soul was claimed by the boy. The Scholar spoke without emotion in his voice another trait of her Lord, but the act betrayed him when he only asked of the boy, it showed that deep down he did care, he felt responsible and by his actions he had abandoned the role of “parent”, not that the two could not be any more different. The gorgeous dress was not fit for combat, even when under the thick robes it had always proved to limit her actions, it got stuck in places, it was yet another nuisance created by her Lord, so his whims were really hammering at her mind today. While the others tried to figure out a course of action for all that was to befall them, she simply widened her senses to see if she could catch any signature that would aid their cause. With that course of action taken it was time to do something about her fashion, she knew her form was locked, set in place by her Lord, and only he could release her from it. The clothes however had been forged after, they did not belong to her even if when torn they would regenerate… They were not part of her forge. She never attempted it before, but with the recent atonement chances were she could manipulate the magical fabric and reshape her clothes, she did not want to alarm her companions so she tried to be as quick as possible and in a flash of flames that wrapped around her body, she now found herself with a more appropriate attire. What bothered her somehow as the lack of head accessory, she had grown used to the hood she had and remembering the hat she had made for the boy, she decided to make something similar for herself pulling on the strings of arcane left hanging in the air and molded them into shape. When she was done, she stuck the quill on her new had and turned to her companions, her expression was that of ready, eager to help but worried for the two missing companions, even if she knew one of them was long gone… had ran away. Thomas "How can you fight against your nature?" This question must have been posed throughout history of countless worlds a million times and probably with little hopes of being answered accordingly. Tom was asking this very question right now, could he take a life of a fellow human, but before that could his feet move forward and expose himself to danger. Could he betray what he was and become the hero? Could he really? Luck had been a strange mistress to the blond archer, she challenged Tom daily and had thrown the poor fool it the most ridiculous of situations only to save him at the last moment. But that was the problem about the situation really, luck had already played with him, from now forward he would be putting himself in harm’s way willingly, but would the lady ride along with him. Would the wind let him be safe? Yes, of course the wind! The rain was coming down hard now, it splashed at his face as he looked up to see in what direction the wind was pushing the rain. The wind was strong, it blew with violence and it blew against Tom as a warning. This is wrong, if I go there I will die and then who will be the next Windrunner? Would Hawk be proud of me? No… NO! Run, I need to run away from here, I want to have a kid and see it grow, teach him like Hawk did me. His confidence was shaken, his mind set in dismay, he wanted to help, he wanted to get to know either of the babes he was with, but was his life really worth it all? Was it worth risking it for a night of passion with a woman with the wrong color of the hair? He took a few slow steps back, slowly and quietly reaching out for his backpack, no longer was he thinking of the food, his leg was in good shape. But he felt guilty, they had helped him and now he was going to abandon them, like the coward he knew he was, but instead he called it survival. No… NO! RUN!!! He was no hero, he was just a man who wanted to find the woman for his child, he just wanted to have a mug of ale at the next town, he wanted to tell the kids great lies of the adventures of the hero he was not, he wanted to flirt with the next girl that did not shove him off. He wanted to live! So he ran, he ran with a knife stuck in his chest, a torn feeling, guilt overwhelmed but the fool ran. Such was his nature and he could ask all he wanted how to fight against it… but nature was like that, it is what makes a fox hunt for mice and wolf prey on sheep. The strong conquer and bask in glory, the fools run away in regretful tears and so he did, as fast as his two legs could carry him and the wind push him. |

The soldier leaned forward, trying to make out the words of the stricken man in her grip. The rain had become violent once more, a droning hiss that filled the ears. The man struggled, his breath seeming almost to rattle from him in stuttered gasps, almost spitting out his words with exertion. Juul's eyes narrowed with concentration - trying to discern meaning between the gibberish and the driving precipitation. He seemed to be talking nonsense, imploring her to stop something, or someone. But what? There was some reason for his injured state, some reason why his comrade had flown off into the wilderness. She turned him over gingerly, so that he was on his side; his breathing was ragged, and he could easily choke on his own spittle lying on his back. She pushed herself to her feet, and scanned the area, eyes widening when she realised the boy had ran off once more. Quickly she surveyed the area, but the rain and wind impeded her view - until she spied the figure of the blond bowman, running like a hare out of the warren. She grimaced, and spat heavily, before cursing softly under her breath. That bumbling braggart would have been no good anyway, even if he did draw a bow well. That counted for nothing if you were too busy pissing yourself to loose. "Yeah, tha's right! Run, ye cur! The boy, however, was a concern. She considered tracking him - the wet ground would be easily churned under his little heels, but then remembered: he had been trying to chase the other soldier when she had checked his advance. He had probably taken off that way again, and besides, the trail of a man in armour would be easier to follow than that of a fleet-footed child. She made to advance, hand near the hilt of her sword, when the old scholar and the could-be-boggart appeared, as swiftly as they had left. Her focus was on the old gent, her eyes angry. "When ye speak t'me, ye use yer mouth. I don' care for whispers in m'mind." she spoke, eyes locked to his, her tone firm with restrained anger. She turned, and gestured lazily in the direction of the fleeing sellsword, hoping her prediction of the boy's movements proved true "He scarpered o'er yonder, after the other fella." She did a double-take at the fire maiden. Had she changed her clothes? She couldn't quite remember, given the frantic action, and it wasn't like they could answer her if she asked. She merely nodded at her, with the slight twinge of a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. She still didn't wholly trust the magickal thing, but it had proved reliable if a little odd. Her hand returned to her sword, and she forged ahead, after the boy. The trail of the sellsword would around slightly, over fallen logs and through sprouting ferns, up and down the undulating hammocks of land, and avoiding where the land fell away into stagnant ponds, and the beasts within their murky depths. The progress was good, if haphazard, and the soldier occasionally checked back to make sure her companions were keeping pace. Otherwise, she was silent, her eyes and ears open to sound and movement that disturbed the constant hiss of the rain. She halted, seeing the body of the soldier, and the boy standing before it. And what looked to be an odd imp, she could tell from this distance. Concerned, she called out. "Yada! Wha's the craic o'er there? |

// Yada'nok // His snarl flopped. The dark gaze of his orbs bounced up and down above the small figure, trying to make up the nature of their appearance. He halfly expected them to form a hideous grin akin to some nightmare and drawing a collection of knives from their hanging, stained sleeves, but for now they seemed to stay still. And horribly silent, just staring at him with those muddy emeralds, tilting their head, awaiting an answer. After an extended moment of tense confusement, the tribesman cleared his throat against his forearm loudly, as if an announcement of a great multitude was to follow. In truth, it was rather to make him look less stupid in his prolonged quietness. What was he to say to the youngling anyway. Sorry, but he ran and I was about to hunt him down like an animal. Would strike an impression at least. He turned halfly as a clumsy follow-up, withdrawing both his foot and his spear from assaulting the runaway man. They were quick to roll aside, backing off a few feet on all fours like a crab until they considered themselves at a safe distance from the ferocious tribesman. Noticing their cowardice, he almost smiled mischievously. His smirk was quick to disappear though when his glare shifted back, all features directing the very portrayal of questioning. To achieve a bit of an authoritan effect, he dipped his chin up a tad and swung the polished pole against his shoulder, posing like the ultimate image of a self-assured hero.. It was pouring intensely on the clearing, the cold of the early spring making its way to his skin slowly through his soaked garments, the three wrapped cloaks growing heavy upon his slim form. Almost absently, he gave his shoulders a little brush, sending a thousand droplets flying. The pressuring and disturbingly peaceful gaze was still resting on him, unblinking under a child's dripping brow. " See, I lets him go. Didn't means it like that. " He muttered in further confirmation, gesturing at the stumbling man in between his convincing words. The man huffed, expressing slight mistrust, and levered themselves slowly from the ground under his watchful eye. Now standing on their two feet once more, they scattered over to the child and knelt before them, grabbing their shoulders. - Gods! Here you are. I thought we had lost you forever. How did you survive anyway...? It was a massacre in here. The swordsman began, leaving him to the background as they embraced the child in a relieved and most swampy reunion. There was little response to their gesture, the little boy's form surrendering against them like a piece of traumatized meat, arms staying to the side whilst the chin evaded and hoisted to peer over the man's shoulder. He was about to wander off in disinterest, but as he glanced at the duo for what he had thought to be the last time, he took note of the unbreakable gaze, which still observed him. Why were they staring at him anyway... - A friend helped me. A shallow voice sang in answer, unexplanatory yet dead certain and truthful. On the smooth, dirty face of a kid, an innocent smile formed and for a moment it seemed as if their eyes had been glimmering in changing hues, brows above remaining in an innocent arch. The sentence seemed as weird to the man as it seemed to him and their confused being slowly let the little one loose, almost like recoiling, but before anyone had time to sound a question, another noise reached from over the yonder. The Swords Maiden. Should he have been an animal, he would've tugged back his ears then. " Oeh! Nothings in here. Mister Hastylegses just founds his lost Friend. " Yada'nok shouted at the redheaded that now emerged from between the trees, taking bouncy steps towards them whilst gesturing behind with his thumb. Glad he was no longer alone with the creepy two, the boy formed a generic, toothy smile upon reaching the Soldier. " Was not sure you was to follow, Lady. The other man dieds or something? " He paused to tilt his whole being to the side, peering to the space behind the Lady. His wide smile faded somewhat and he reached a hand to remove the paper hat absently, then turning it upside down in order to empty the waving brim. " And.. um.. Where is Mister Blondielocks? " // Galeas // And a yet another woman at dismay. How... surprising. He staid still, only his head turning slowly to meet the glare that opposed him from across the wide path. In answer he would not utter a word, just stare back from under his light frown that sustainingly adorned his gravestone of a face. I remember the time when telepathy was nothing special. Just another route of communication, terribly common, if not on the side of extremely private and personal. Foremost, it was never taken offencively. But, those had been the times when Necromancers staid underground, men were brave, women barely went around swinging swords at monsters and all kinds of obstinate ethereals weren't commiting crimes and strolling around on their own. And I most certainly didn't I run around in a swamp, looking for some dim-witted, reckless individual of a child. The Lady's words hammered his head on repeat. They seemed to get angrier, echoing amidst other voices and their expressions of discomfort, all features framed by a halo of wrath. Don't be shy about speaking up--- don' care for whispers in m'mind --- Get out of my head. Reaching a wavering conclusion, he exhaled. Times have changed, it seems. As if submerged into peaceful ponder, his gaze followed Juul's waypointing in silence, movement hazy and sluggish. It was half a nod that he gave in return, yet keeping from meeting their gaze of Soldierly blaze. This 'other fella' must have meant the less injured sellsword, taking their accomplice was currently nowhere near of being capable to run. His look shot about, finding confirmation for his suspicion. The wounded laid on their side , in a textbook position even. Such action had not prevented the breath to fade however, its escape into permanent cold having happened in dead silence. His brow raised subtly, hues of ice glancing at the back of the woman that had already taken to pursue the runaway tribesman. A shame for their assumed effort really. He took a few steps towards the given direction, following in the wake of another. Their armour clinked, the rain drizzled, multiple steps of different weights sloshed, light vegetation protested the waders in a swish. His observance searched out the ethereal briefly, their yet another change of attire unable to collect his interest for now. At that immediate moment, all he required was a swift exit from the environment he had ended up trapped in, preferably with the short shapeshifter. He figured he could've done without thought, if he only was to find that escape artist of a horse. Was not long until another painstakingly indifferent clearing loomed. And within it, a set of familiars and unfamiliars. The presence of Yada'nok was stricking, like a stench that could be sensed from a mile away with no effort whatsoever, and as they arranged their forever smiling being to address the Lady, he couldn't help letting out a sigh. What had he done to deserve this company anyway... |
