SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

Don’t mind me, I sometimes get these mad moments of inspiration that spurs from an idea in the depths of my mind.
It isn’t an important thing or even necessary, but I think it could be a unique little feature that we could possibly all enjoy.

    My idea is….. drumroll…..

A PLACE TO HAVE IC LETTERS!

I mean, its how people communicated back then and while these kind of thing can be easily sent in PM’s
I thought it would be fun if we could read each other’s, a plot to usurp a throne, a blossoming relationship from star crossed lovers. An employer and employee. A death warrant, a BOUNTY! I can go on and on with possibilities.

And also give room for dialog only sections to plots, personal or major.

Not only this, but it can be another way to get characters to interact. Perhaps character A could come across a piece of information via finding a lost letter, it being passed to prying eyes, ambushing the messenger!?

Ok I need to stop my mind is going to go into some crazy hyper place where I start spurting idea’s with even less purpose XD

And then she was gone, her hips swinging as the knives jostled her thighs, passing by guards with her head held high, a haughty smile upon her lips.

I thought that I had changed the description of the Chronicles forum to reflect the possibility of letter-writing, but apparently I didn't (or, alternatively, at the time it made sense in my head, which means it probably didn't translate over). That being said, that forum can actually be used for such a purpose that you describe, Dirge. And I definitely encourage plotting IC that way! I know I've seen other forums with such things. Since that forum doesn't get used very often for character journals and such, I don't think letter-writing would need its own forum. Unless people feel strongly on the matter?

now you have pointed it out, i can see that the chronicles have been edited! but yeah the description is a little cryptic and thus my eyes must of glazed over it =D

*feels silly by making this topic now*

anyway i think we should ALL do it~ it seems more fun than writing a journal anyway.

No, don't feel silly! :3 It's a good question to ask and it's good for me to note that I need to tweak that a bit in the future.

I could be nice. Hell! I know I'm nice, but ask yourself, 'What's the fun in that?'

Just chucking in my two cents worth even though I haven't added anything to mine for a few months, I personally would prefer writing a journal to a letter. I dunno why O.o But yeah, I think it could be a cool way to start threads. And I like the idea of a 'dialogue only section'. But then I guess that's kinda just like the IC cbox XD

Actually, I think that could be kinda cool. I suppose it could go in the Chronicles section, but it would be fun to show a correspondance between lovers or people plotting nefarious things. :> Good for building on your characters, yes?

If I may, I personally don’t like the IC box, its purpose confuses me just a little, and from what I can see it’s like an orgy of characters generally being silly? I also don’t see a use for it in terms of plotting and dialog, especially since you cant keep it to refer back too later. But that’s just my personal feelings towards it.

I’m all for character building, its the reason I have generally stereotypical characters and then through story build from that, after all someone once said that it is out memories, experiences and emotions that shapes us into the people that we are.

But in the chronicle section would you just make a topic called "dirge's letters" or something? Or make a letter for each thing? Sometimes it could be one letter? I imagine it getting very messy in there...

Perhaps a subforum within chronicles? For letters to keep it tidy, and then people can make a tracker for it, so they didn’t want to sift through it?

I can imagine a topic where two characters write letters they send back and forth to each other or some such.

The IC Cbox could be used seriously, but I think most things turn into crack in it. I have, however, seen and been a part of the moments where it's used seriously for serious character chats, though that was in its earlier days. Though a pain in the ass, it is also possible to copy and paste the Cbox messages into word so that nothing is lost if you're really attached to it.

The issue with making an entirely separate forum for letters is that not only are there very few journals in there as it stands, but I don't know how many letters will crop up in there, either. It's a bit of a toss-up because sometimes people latch onto ideas and a whole bunch of people will start something (ex. writing letters), and then other times only one or two people will do something like that. Unless the letters became immensely popular, I don't feel like there needs to be an entirely separate forum for them. If people are really keen on having an entirely separate forum, though, I can make one.

For each set of correspondence, I would just make a thread for it, and update that thread as necessary. Even if that means that, 3 months down the road, the character who initially received correspondence writes their own letter back.

    Double-posting for an update:

I have altered the description of that forum, so I hope it's a bit clearer now for everyone.
