Twilight was beautiful in a well lit city! The stars were bright above and Mio could swear she'd at least two streaking across the sky. The city was luminescent with the glow of lanterns and the vivacity of life, bundled up citizens milling about for late night shopping and festivities. Mio herself was a fantastic mood, trying to get her mind off of the political situations that she had been worrying about lately. This new job had proved to be more work than she expected, but she was far from giving up. The challenge would be met head on. All she needed was a night to relax and enjoy the simple life she had once been accustomed to. The kitsune was dressed in her usual clothes, shades of purple today, but the chilled night had called for black boots with soft faux fur on the tops of them and white cotton tights that had little flower print patterns on them. As she walked through the city her three tails swished behind her with the subtle sway of her hips and the slight jingle of the bells tied to her sash accompanied each step. A soft violet cloak made of satin had been tied around her shoulders with bright blue sapphire clasps, the hood hanging back behind him. Bright green eyes searched for something fun to do as she came to the market square. For a while she just browsed the different stalls, checking what each merchant had to offer. There were some sparkly gems that caught her attention, shiny necklaces, head bands and the like, but she restrained herself for the time being. Suddenly the sound of music filled the air as a few performers began to strike up a tune. It was the twanging of a fiddle accompanied by the lively melody of a pan flute, definitely and infectious song. A few people had gathered around, some tapping their feet but none really starting to dance, too shy. This was clearly a situation which required her assistance. She strode forward and slipped through the crowd, beginning to twirl to the music, stepping and arching gracefully to the tune so the ribbons of her sash bow flowed around her. The pleasant jingling of the bells on her sash added to the tune. There was applause before she grabbed the hands of another girl and pulled her in to dance as well, smiling sweetly as they spun together. It wasn't long before she'd gotten a good number of people going, dancing with partners and enjoying the crisp twilight. Mio slipped away from the group and smiled as she watched them, her three tails swaying with delight behind her. |

Vul Shok watched from a distance with content as the people danced and cheered a smile fell across his face, and he thought of home. The warmth of his leather armor and neck wrap fended of any chills he would have. "So many happy people..." he thought aloud as he watched the people. He looked to the skies for a second, thinking how long it had been since he started his adventures and how long it was since he had been home. His mind was brought back from his reminiscent thoughts when the strange women he had saw dancing walked out of the crowd. A look of utter surprise fell upon his face when he had saw her three tails. Seeing the tail his curiosity took over and he walked over to her "That was quite a performance miss" his voice muffled from his wrap though his voice was rather up beat. |

The dance had been exhilarating and Mio felt the warmth from the physical exertion spread from her chest and through her body. There was nothing better to fend off cold than activity. Sometimes of the innocent sort like dancing, twirling and stepping to the music. Then of course there were other outlets...but that was for another time. She couldn't afford to be so indulgent with her political status now, as hindering as that felt to her. A little sigh left her lips before the words of the mean wearing a muffler drew her away from such thoughts. Mio turned to face Vul Shok and looked him over. He seemed friendly enough, and the tone of his words, though quiet, was fairly cheerful. A smile lit up her already bright features and she put her hands on her hips. "Ya think so? What kept you from joining in huh?" Behind them people were still dancing, having exchanged partners and and laughing as they enjoyed the music that rose up into the night sky be-speckled with the luminescent beauty of starlight. Mio tilted her head and looked down at Vul Shok's shoes, raising a brow as she inspected them before raising her emerald gaze to meet his own once again. The fluffy appendages behind her swished a bit as she thought, still mobile with the excitement of the dance she'd participated in mere moments before. "Well it looks ta me like you've got a perfectly usable pair of feet, so ya got ten seconds ta give me a reason why you are lingering over here, instead of having fun over there. Ready?" Her hands were removed from her hips and she held them up, palms out and fingers splayed. She began to count and as she did a corresponding digit would curl down. "1..." |

Vul watch as Mio looked at him, then his feet, and back to him. His face showed more surprise, if only for a second, as not only did this girl have three tails but a pair of what looked like feline ears, he had not ever seen someone like her before.... well not this closely. Seeing her count down he began laughing, his face finally showed from under his neck wrap as he brought one hand up rubbing the back of his head. He did not feel any sort of rudeness come from her voice even with the threat of her counting down. "I am sorry I was more or less taken by how happy the people where dancing and singing, my mind just sort of wandered off." His breath could be seen slightly as he talked. |

Mio just laughed, the sound sweet and chiming, like the bells that jingled from the sash tied about her middle. "What use is watching people be happy when you could be joining in?" She'd stopped counting down after he responded and instead decided that there was no more waiting to be had. This man just had to take the plunge, that was that! And who better to show him how to let loose than herself? The worst that could happen was he might get a bit flustered but she supposed there were quick fixes to such reactions. Booze was of the top cures, and one of her favorites, it'd be a great excuse to indulge in such reckless abandon! Without further hesitation Mio reached forward and grasped Vul Shok's hand, her vulpine ears twitching ever so briefly. "Dance with me!" She insisted, optics bright and eager. Without waiting for a reply she pulled Vul Shok into the fray of happy people. Her hand still grasped his as she moved around him, twirling him within her grasp and then releasing gently. The way she moved was natural, at ease, as if the music flowed right through her body and animated it. "Come on, everyone can dance." She tried to coax him, letting a hand brush over his arm, teasing him, wanting him to have some fun. |

Vul Shok barely had time to react as he was pulled into the fray of the dance people and that was only to keep himself from stumbling. He looked around, everyone was so lively and whats more, the strange yet interesting women that he had just met had asked him join her in dancing. It took him a a few moments to realize it was her hand that was brushing up against his arm and he chuckled. "Alright miss, if you insist." He began moving slowly, his movement was slightly stiff as if mechanical. Clearly he was out of practice. He paused for a moment taking in the music hearing it's tempo and its rhythm and began again this time much less stiff. This continued for a few moments before his movement began to speed up keeping pace with the tempo, though his dancing wasn't extraordinarily impressive it did seem that he had some sort of training in dancing. |

This man was rather polite, clearly well spoken around women, or maybe just in general. It was hard to tell a man's true nature until you got a few drinks in him and his words were less restrained. The way he humored her insistence was nice though and Mio couldn't help but giggle as he danced with her. He wasn't terrible, certainly better than some of the others that had staggered about when trying to join, but that was fine too. It didn't matter what a person's skill was to the kitsune, she just wanted them to have some fun! "You're not bad!" Mio complimented, taking Vul Shok's hand and raising it up, twirling him around with a smirk before she released him. The fun was continued for a while before the musicians stopped and so did Mio, clapping. She hurried over and got out some coins to place in the little box the performers had set out for appreciation money. It was then that her attention returned to Vul Shok. With a swift turn and stride back over to the male she placed one hand on her hip and held the other out to him. "So, my name's Mio. Nice ta meetcha!" The introduction was finally made and she waited expectantly for him to reciprocate with his own name, and of course the offered hand shake. |

As the music died down and everyone began to part ways Vul began to feel his exhaustion hit him, he wasn't tired merely out of breath but even then his smile didn't fade. This was a night for fun and he had been having plenty of it dancing with this strange girl. The girl introduced her self as Mio a nice name simple yet unusual defiantly nothing wrong with that. Of course who was he to say a name was unusual. He extended his hand and shook hers. As he did he lowered his neck wrap to show his full face without any disruptions. "It's nice meeting you Mio, My name Is Vul Shok Markov." As he spoke his eyes would move slightly looking at her ears still amazed by them, then back to her, he did not think it nice to ask about them straight out he kept quiet. Mio was pleased to be able to see Vul Shok's face when he bent forward. Nothing alarming of course, not that she would have minded either way. People's outward appearances weren't too terribly important to her. She shook his hand firmly, her grip tight, more like a man's hand shake than a woman's. After he introduced himself she loosened her grip and withdrew her hand, smiling. "Nice name!" There was a curious look across her features as she noticed his gaze on her ears. The appendages in question twitched a bit before Mio gave a light chuckle. "Oh are you looking at my ears? You like them? I have matching tails~" With a grin the kitsune woman gave a short twirl so that he'd be able to see her tails more accurately, all fluffy with little splashes of black fur on the tip. Once she faced him again she folded her arms across her chest. "See? Let me guess you've never seen a kitsune before or something?" She supposed it was possible, not a lot of her kind traveled in this area. Kitsune were notorious for sticking with their clans so being alone like this was rather strange for her. That was a long story that she didn't plan to get into. "What about you? Are you a human?" Came Mio's question, not wanting to keep the focus on her. |

"Sorry I didn't mean to stare" He felt a bit guilty and let out a quiet sigh, his curiosity did tend to get him into trouble at times.Though thankfully she didn't seem to take offense. He watched as Mio showed her tails, indeed they looked fluffy and he let out a chuckle as she spun back around. "I have heard stories about the Kitsune from my mother but never met one myself. I'm actually from a village in the Soto country side." That's right, he remembered the stories he was told as a kid about his father befriending a group of kitsune on his travels. He quickly shook his head and looked back to Mio. "Also yes I am just a plane old human. Nothing really special about me unfortunately" he said spinning around as she did, his neck wrap nearly dragging on the floor, by his side one would also see a scimitar on his belt and he laughed. Mio just laughed off his apology, clapping a hand over Vul Shok's shoulder in reassurance. "Ah don't get yourself all bothered by it. I don't mind the stares as long as they aren't too mean." She winked then tilted her head as he went on. So he had heard of kitsunes in the past, well that was a good start. It was nice to know that their race wasn't forgotten in this world, despite the dwindling numbers. Thinking about that started to make her feel guilty though so she swiftly pushed such worries aside. It was a good day, no time for sad thoughts! "Humans aren't so bad. Don't live too long but I imagine that just makes ya wanna live the hell out of life huh? Make those years count!" She flashed a grin and looked around at the dispersing crowd before back at her new acquaintance. "So, Vul Shok, off to somewhere special or just touring the town a bit? I imagine this can't be your first time here, is it?" It was a possibility, she really knew nothing about this man other than his name and the awkward smile he gave when trying to dance. That had been amusing, but at least he wasn't bad at it. Heaven knew she had dragged some men to the floor who were as stiff as a board and couldn't hear the melody in music at all. |

"I hear that!" He answered with a loud laugh, from what he heard about the kitsune, they live twice if not four times as long as humans..... hmmmm which meant she could be four times his age without even looking it slightly. This didn't bother him at all though she seemed nice enough and he had a habit of trusting people, though he never really thought that people were out to get him. And he liked the cut of her jib. "Not really I have been here a while ago but it was a few years back, i have been traveling around all of Elenlond since i was 19. How about you are you an adventurer or traveler?" He looked around, at this point most of the people had dispersed though had it been that late? "If I remember correctly, there should be a tavern around here, and that dancing we did left me a bit thirsty. If you want I'm buying." he offered as he turned scratching his head trying to figure out where exactly it was. Was it left at the next block or right? Hell for all he knew the tavern could have closed down while he was gone. Edited by The Arc Runner, Dec 8 2011, 01:32 PM.

For a complete stranger Vul Shok seemed like an agreeable enough guy, and Mio found herself enjoying their conversation. She folded her arms behind her back and considered the information he shared about himself carefully. So he'd been traveling since he was 19 and he looked in his early 20s...so a few years at least. The span of time was the blink of an eye for a kitsune but Mio had found that as she got into the early years of her first century time was going slower. As time wore on would she too experience the long seasons of each year like humans did? It was a curious thought, but far too philosophic for a jovial evening. "I was a traveler, I explored far and wide for many many years before I settled here. Now I have a job in...government." Mio smiled sheepishly, shrugging. For whatever reason she didn't really want her position known. She didn't want Vul Shok thinking he had to treat her any different because of her position and she was enjoying his current attitude as it was. At the mention of a tavern, however, her vulpine ears perked right up and the interest was quite apparent in her bright eyes. "Paying or not, I'm dying for a drink, and I definitely know the tavern you're talking about. Let's go!" Without hesitation Mio took hold of Vul Shok's hand and pulled him away from the market square, heading down the cobblestone road to the tavern that she knew was not too far. Assuming the man consented in following her they'd soon come upon the tavern he was most likely speaking of, a nice looking joint with varnished wood sidings and a rustic sign out front that swung ever so slightly when the wind picked up. "This place right?" Mio asked, her tails swishing a bit as she turned to look at her new acquaintance. |

"Whoa!" was all that he could say as Mio grabbed his hand and started pulling him around, fortunately this time he didn't trip. She said that she worked in government but didn't say much else. He dismissed as to why if she wanted to tell him it was up to her, people have their secrets for whatever reason and it was not his place to ask a person he just met about their life if they didn't want to. He stopped right behind her as she slowed down. He was moderately surprised, half because she knew exactly where he was thinking and the other half because the place was still in business. "Yep this is the place" he moved to her side and opened the door with a smile. "After you." He said courteously. If there one one thing his mother beat into his head well enough, it was always open a door for a lady.... Well that and no lightning magic inside the house. |

Her deduction had been far from psychic, more coincidence really. As it was Mio was well versed in what bars and taverns happened to be located in many of the more populated cities of Soto. The one they now stood in front of was the closest to the market square. Plus, it had pretty good quality alcohol and people, which was always a plus. Then of course Vul Shok held the door for her and Mio couldn't help but smirk a bit. Men always thought they had to be such gentlemen, but she supposed that was better than the unpleasant types who got too grabby or boisterous. "Why thank you~" The kitsune said pleasantly as she walked inside, gazing about the tavern with keen interest. It was fairly busy since it was getting to be later afternoon but it hadn't hit peak hours just yet. Groups of friends were trading stories over drinks or new acquaintances were being made at the bar, blushing girls flattered with less than innocent intentions. It was the kind of atmosphere Mio was used to though she had been down to the very dregs of society to the shining layer of its upper crust. The places in between always seemed to be what she preferred, though there was a time and a place for the varying ends of the spectrum. "I hope you can hold your drink." She teased Vul Shok a bit as she ventured further inside and seated herself at the bar, patting the seat next to her for the man she had just met to take. Meeting people like this wasn't uncommon for the kitsune, so she was far from apprehensive. Instead she leaned her elbows on the bar and watched the waitress go about polishing glasses for a bit before the woman finally took notice and walked over to them. She was a pretty woman in her late 20s with hair tied back in a messy black bun. "Evenin'! What can I get for you two?" Mio hummed as she thought, tapping her chin. "I'll taaaake....do you have honey mead?" She was pleased with the waitress' nod. "I'll take that." Her gaze shifted to Vul Shok then, awaiting his order. |

Vul Shok followed after Mio also looking around, content. Taverns were always the best places for meeting people and having a fun time. Happy people drinking, talking, having fun, whats not to like? He enjoyed this atmosphere with gusto and made his way to the bar sitting in the seat Mio had patted with a chuckle. He quickly took out his Canteen and shaking it to his ear. Seems he was almost out of water. "I'll have a mug of ale and a glass of water miss" he said before turning to Mio. As he did he noticed some writing along her arm he looked slightly confused. Tattoos possibly? "Mio, what is with that writing on your arms?" Edited by The Arc Runner, Dec 13 2011, 07:19 PM.

The kitsune was not surprised by Vul Shok's order, the typical traveler's drink. Not that there was anything wrong with ale, she'd had it plenty of times, but she was in the mood for something sweet that could still make her chest swell with warmth and all her worries float away. What an amusing thoughts... If worries could float would they flow out one's ears or sort of pop out from one's mouth in bubble form, like a hiccup. Mio gave a light giggle as she considered this before looking at Vul Shok when his question was voiced. "Oh these?" The girl smiled as she held out her arms, fingers splayed as she fondly admired the various tattoos. "These are tattoos of words that I really like, things I've heard over my travels. Like...intrinsic, superfluous, melancholic..." Her arms weren't completely covered by the words, there was room for future additions as she was surely far from hearing all the beautiful words the world had to offer. Other languages for instance, though she already had a few in various tongues spread out among the more commonly known one. The waitress returned with her drinks then, Mio thanking her with a light purr before lifting the glass to her lips and sipping its contents. Her tails swished behind her in pleasant contentment as the alcohol spread through her system. |

Vul Shok thanked the waitress and took a large gulp of the Ale and let out a sigh of relief and his face lightened up as he listened to Mio. Writing words she liked on her arm? Interesting to say the least, he had honestly never heard of someone doing something like that. Though to each their own. He opened the top of his canteen and began to pour the water into it. "I see, do you still travel or does your work keep you in the city?" He didn't know much about what she did in government but he did want to know more about his new friend. His mind began to wander back to his own guild, Dido's Children... right he had to head there after this so he could file some information on his travels. He looked as if he had gone into deep thought before putting his hand in his pocket pulling out a piece of paper it looked like a picture with some writing on the back of it. |

It was a good question, one that Mio didn't really know the answer to herself. Did she travel? To the outer regions of Soto maybe, to its forests, rivers and bays, but not really past those boundaries. So the answer was probably no, not when compared to the long treks she had made in her past. She'd experienced the different flavors of both people and drinks in many different taverns across the continent, but now she had to grow comfortable with one place. Mio lifted the glass to her lips and took a long drink of the mead within it, eyes closed as she savored the sweet taste. By the time she lowered the glass it was almost three quarters of the way empty. "Compared to my younger days, not really. This is the first time I've really had my own home too, since I was a child I mean. A home that I stayed in for more than a few days, a week...you get the idea." The kitsune hummed as she thought about this, tapping the outer rim of her glass before she cast her gaze to the young man sitting beside her. "And you? Are you just passing through or has Madrid become your current place of residence as well?" She smirked a bit as she thought about the reasons why Vul Shok might be there but kept them to herself. It was no good to assume the worst of people, or even the best. Guesses were best left to those with particular insight, and Mio had very little on this man she'd just met. |

A smile crossed Vul Shoks face yet again, for one reason or another it looked like he never seemed to be seen without some positive look on his face. He couldn't imagine staying within a city for so long, the world was out there and it needed to be explored, learned of and enjoyed. He flipped the paper to look at the scribbles. "I'm just passing by for now, I have some info I wanted to relay to the Adventurers Guild before heading to my parents house. After that no idea." Mio's smirk would be met with a look of deep thought, he never really did plan ahead for most things wherever the wind took him he went and found adventure and a new friend, usually.... |

"The Adventurer's Guild huh? Guess it's a good way to keep from getting bored." Though Mio knew little of the Guild, the one she previously headed had little contact with them. For a moment she really missed how it felt to just drift from town to town without a care, not worrying about where her feet would next carry her. The thrill of a new location and wondering whether or not she'd meet anyone interesting there was somewhat forgotten now that she was confined to one area. She supposed there were still some new experiences to be had and people to meet so it was probably best not to let such thoughts bother her too much. "And your parents live here then? You're fortunate to have them still in your life, I know many travelers can't say the same." She mused. The glass was liquid and Mio drained the remainder of her mead before waving over the bartender. "Hey do you think you could pour another for me? I'd really appreciate it~" She spoke charmingly to the barmaid who smiled and refilled Mio's glass, taking the kitsune's coins afterwards. Mio took the newly filled glass and sipped again, letting out a sigh at the taste of the sweet liquor. It was nice, relaxing, sitting there and just chit chatting. "No kidding." He said with a smile. As he spoke he looked back on his adventures, the people he met and the friends he made. Had four years really passed since he left his house in the Soto country side? It felt like a blink of an eye to him the days he could recall, while distinct, felt so short as if they were brief flashes of light. Four years he had been traveling, four years since he saw his mother and sister and the country side he had spent most of his life on. It really was a strange feeling. He looked to Mio and though... what was four years like when someone could live so much longer than a human? He smiled and shrugged off the thought, it was a calm smile that came across his face as she spoke about parents. He moved to take another drink from his mug of ale. "Well at least one is still there, my father is gone. Last time I saw him was when I was no more than three or four. He protected the village I grew up in and supposedly died doing so. But at least I get to see my sister finally head out on her own for the first time!" He spoke not with any sadness in his voice, he had no reason to be sad if his ideas on the matter were true. Yet again he took a big gulp of his ale polishing it off this time and setting it down. He too asked for another mug, whether it to keep up with her or he was just that thirsty was unknown. Either way it didn't matter to him he was having fun with his new friend. |

Family was a difficult subject for most, and Mio was no exception. It was refreshing to see that apart from an absent father Vul Shok didn't seem to have many qualms with his own. As she recalled witnessing her own father cry for the first time she couldn't help but feel a bit melancholy. The glass she had recently had refilled was gently tilted back and forth in her hand, swirling the liquid it contained. "I don't even know if my parents are alive or dead." She admitted finally, a sort of somber note to the otherwise upbeat conversation. With a laugh, she apologized, "Sorry, don't wanna be a downer. It's great that you get to see your sister become more grown up and such." For a moment Mio was silent as she gazed out the window of the tavern, trying to gauge what time it was against the tasks she was responsible for in the morning. It wasn't late enough to warrant not finishing her drink...or maybe getting another mug. There were a lot of responsibilities one had when in her position and a night of intoxication made it a lot easier! Well, psychologically speaking, physically speaking everything came much harder due to the lack of coordination and the sickness in the morning. But that didn't have to be worried about for the time being. She lifted the glass to her lips and took a long drink of it before putting it down with a contented sigh. "So how long you think you're going to be staying around these parts, hmm? Some people find Madrid pretty exciting, others not so much." She shrugged. |

As Mio talked about her family, Vul Shoks' smile went away, the first time it had since the two met. He understood that feeling well. It was only once he had turned 19 that he found out about the possibility of his father being alive and that was by chance off of some information his mother had told him about the night his father 'died'. Before that he truly felt saddened by the though of family, fortunately had found ways to cope with it through the stories he was told as a child about his father. It seemed that, sadly, Mio didn't have the same fortune. He looked at her and put his hand on her shoulder and quickly changed his expression back to a smile and tried to cheer her up. "You needn't worry from what I heard the Kitsune are more strong willed than most people, I am sure your family is alright." With that he took his hand off her shoulder and reached for his ale taking another drink. He did hear stories about how strong the Kitsune where and there was no reason to be sad, what would that accomplish? True Vul Shok had seen many things that would bring people down but that wouldn't stop him. People were given arms and legs for a reason, to stand up and build the future with their own hands, that was the creed of his family. "As for my sister Glissa, yes she is turning 19 in about two weeks and I promised her and my mother that I would be there when she would go off and start adventuring for herself." Vul Shok chuckled for a second "I wounder if she will see eye to eye with me when she starts on her journey." He thought back to his childhood on the Soto countryside. While he and Glissa were close, be it training, sparing, or being enthralled in their mothers stories, he and her were like day and night on many things such as politics, fighting and most importantly killing... "Anyway my stay all depends on what the guild master has planned apparently there is some kind of big adventure he is planning. I even heard that he was using a ship that flies through the air!" His tone became very excited on that note. Edited by The Arc Runner, Jan 24 2012, 05:27 PM.

Idly Mio nodded. She liked to think that her family was alright as well. Both her mother and father had qualities that could be described as helpful in continuing survival. Her mother was strong, firm, confident and brave. However that impulsive and brash nature could also get her in trouble. As for her father, well, he was wise, kind, good at negotiating, but maybe too trusting sometimes, too kind. If she was to keep her cheerful demeanor she had to stop thinking this way though, so instead she downed the rest of her drink and pushed the glass aside, looking at Vul Shok. "Your sister and you don't agree on much I take it?" Mio guessed as the man began to speak about his young sibling. She supposed that wasn't uncommon. Brothers and sisters rarely agreed on everything, it was just natural to fight with someone that you grew up with. Or something like that. Mio wasn't entirely sure on the specific reasoning behind such occurrences other than that they happened often. The adventuring perked her interest a bit more, brows raising in curiosity. "A ship that flies? Really?" She laughed. "Well that would certainly be an adventure! No matter where you ended up going..." |
