SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

There hadn't been much thought put into Illid's decision to make another trip to Ashoka. Not much exploring had been on his last visit and was curious to see what the city had to offer. It was warmer than Soto as well and that was always a plus, both for him and the serpent wrapped about his shoulders. Fortunately the weather wasn't plagued with unpleasant downpours either or the demon would have been less inclined to explore the city. Currently he was making his way across the long bridge that spanned the length of the city's oasis. Below the water shimmered brightly in the sun and he found himself skeptical of the suspiciously clear blue hue. He was suspicious that water in such a densely populated city could remain so clean.

His clothes of the day consisted of a short sleeved, light blue shirt with a hood attached to the back, lined with silver silk trim. The bottom was a bit long so he had a belt around his waist to make it a tunic, his various throwing knives secured in hilts to the leather strap. For slacks he'd chosen long black ones tucked into brown knee high boots that laced up and also had several buckles. The outfit left the scales on his arms exposed that matched the ones on his face.

Illid's steps slowed for a moment as he noticed a man and a woman standing on the side of the bridge. The girl was very pretty, nicely dressed in an expensive blouse and skirt, while the man seemed to have slightly shabbier clothes with soot on them, probably a laborer of some sort. They were having a hushed but serious conversation, and the woman looked upset. The demon looked down to Chimer, the viper that was wrapped about his shoulders. The two exchanged a look and the near silent exchange of hissing was heard before he kept walking, still at his casual pace. After he passed the two he stopped and folded his arms over the guard rail. It wouldn't make sense for him to continue on after all, he couldn't actually go into the palace or anything like that. He'd just wanted to enjoy the view. Which included more than just the water around him.

"Lila you know that I love you..." The man had begun talking, Illid able to pick up bits and pieces of their conversation.
"Matthew you know I love you too but...this other man...he has so much more to offer..." Her words carried on into the usual blather that the demon didn't care to pay attention to.

Without warning however the woman let out a scream, taking a step away from the man.

"You...on your face...and mouth! Get away from me!" She screeched.
"Lila what are you talking about, relax!" He reached out to grab her and she struggled, eyes wide and terrified as she studied the visage of the man she supposedly loved.

She continued rambling on about his face, how they were coming out of his eyes, biting at his skin, and demanding why he couldn't see it. Finally she pushed him back hard enough that the man fell off the bridge and landed in the water with a large splash. The woman ran off without hesitation, panicked.

Illid just tilted his head and let a delightful smile light his features as he watched the floundering man. He turned to walk off the bridge and towards the rest of the city. There was no need to linger, he had gotten his thrill and wanted to find something else that was worth his time. Above a few clouds floated overhead, making the sunlight flicker only momentarily before it was once again bright blue skies.

It wasn't particularly often that the demon Mirix was spotted wandering through towns during the middle of the day. He much preferred the twilight hour and general nighttime for his city visits, and usually spent the daytime in a lot less public or crowded locations. Today was one of those rare times however where the opposite was true, and luckily for everyone in the vicinity, his reason for doing so wasn't to go on a brazen killing spree. Admittedly the thought had crossed his mind, and he wouldn't, still, be opposed to going through with one if provoked… But, instead he figured he might as well just bide his time until nightfall.

Now though, Mirix wandered rather aimlessly through the city; he'd been here once or twice before, but today was much different from those times before. The last time he was here the place was in ruins, still yet to be rebuilt from the destructive war path that was burned through it during the days of his previous employer's quest for domination. Not to mention, the last time he was here, he was quite out of his mind via the use of various mind altering chemicals. Now that things were rebuilt and back to normal, and he sober and actually paying attention to his surroundings, he found himself curious about the place and kind of wanting to see the sights.

And so, he spent most of the day doing just that; wandering to and fro with his hands shoved into his pockets and eyes flitting about to take in all the visuals. He'd gotten several suspicious looks during his wanderings, mainly from passing through residential zones and peering through people's windows; making lewd faces at random people from a distance and generally just being strange and suspicious acting. When he had grown bored of bothering the everyday people, Mirix thought perhaps he'd take a look at the famed bridge and the watery oasis over which it stretched. Why not?

However, when he reached the foot of the bridge, something strange happened. His feline ears perked and his brows furrowed as a familiar sensation washed over him in a wave and caused his skin to prickle. Mirix stopped by the side of the railing, his eyes narrowing as the feeling struck him again. His eyes flashed as he began to scan the area for the one he was sensing, a sudden obsessive desire striking him and making the discovery of the person in question something of the utmost importance. After about a minute it happened, his light irises zoning in on a fair, brown haired fellow with a snake wrapped around his shoulders. He studied the male for a long moment, of course not recognizing him, but with a slowly growing grin appearing on his face.

"Hey! You with the snake!" He called from out of nowhere. "C'mere!"

A strange feeling crept over Illid's skin, making his hair stand up ever so slightly. It wasn't a particularly unwelcome sensation but it was a peculiar one none the less, not something he experienced all too often. Just what it might be was, for the moment, unknown, but he intended to find out as his eyes gave a subtle sweep of those around him. Up until that point he'd been enjoying the triumph of his little game and the poor man that had climbed out of the water drenched and perplexed. As far as the poor human knew his true love had just gone insane and rejected him, how unfortunate.

There was a moment of clarity as Illid's slit pupils locked on Mirik. It was clear from first sight that this man was also a demon, and by the energy that he was able to sense a very old one. His gaze quickly shifted. As far as he was concerned there was no loyalty amongst his own race, especially when this was one of a different breed. His own kind had never known kindness based on kinship and he doubted others were the same. Food was food, right? Ah not that he'd indulged in such a delicacy in a long time. Raw meat that was, and not an animal's. Such thoughts were swiftly pushed aside however, he wasn't about to let such barbaric thoughts sway his image.

"Hey! You with the snake! - C'mere!"

The sudden yell to him had caught Illid off guard. Was the other demon really calling him out? And for what purpose? He was grinning, which in his mind wasn't a particularly good sign. All danger pushed aside, the serpentine male decided he wouldn't let himself lose face. It was worth his pride to risk physical harm, nothing he couldn't hopefully slip out of should he need to. But he also didn't feel it would be very fun to just waltz over and introduce himself. Instead he looked back to the man who had called to him and smirked before sticking out his forked tongue out for a brief moment. That done he turned and ran, the movements surprisingly swift as he disappeared through the a nearby crowd that had gathered around a street performer.

Once Illid emerged from the other side of the crowd he jumped onto a pile of crates, the bottom of his boot touching them only for a moment as he used them as a foothold to reach the roof. A silent, fleet footed run carried him across the shingled roof before he climbed atop a chimney and perched there, hands gripping the sides and legs bent at the knees as he waited to see if the man from before had decided to follow. It was all up in the air really, whether his sudden run would be taken as insulting or amusing, he'd find out soon enough. He still had Jack back at the inn after all, he hadn't finished his project with her, it would just be a shame if he were to somehow be rendered incapable of returning to her.

Chimer had coiled up around his neck now and reached further, now curled around his forehead as he sat atop it to look around, little black tongue flitting out now and again.

Mirix could see that his calling out to the other had been a surprise, but should it have been? Surely the other demon had sensed his presence just the same. Unless there was some kind of secret demonic outpost somewhere in this world that he was unaware of, he would also assume that the other didn't often run into other demons. With that thought in mind, he'd think it would be considered expected, almost mandatory that one would call for the attention of the other.

Seeing the serpent-like male dash off into the crowd made Mirix's smirk widen to sinister proportions and a sudden thrill ran up his spine. Hopefully the act wasn't meant to make the cat eared one lose interest, for it only served to pique some of his base instincts when it came to dealing with those he had set his sights upon."The chase begins…" He whispered the words to no one in particular, feeling his body tense up as he gave the other a few seconds head start. Once finished with his internal countdown, he took after him.

It was fairly easy to trail the other demon, now marked as a target, from the ground. While Mirix pretty much bulldozed his way through the crowd, he watched the male make his way to a nearby rooftop. He chuckled quietly to himself at that. Taking to higher grounds was generally a good idea, but it would do little good if the snake demon's goal was to avoid his silver-haired kin.

Making his way to the opposite side of the building, Mirix paused as he looked up to where the chimneystack poked up and his target crouched. He smirked, figuring the other demon would be expecting him to have followed him directly, expecting him at any moment to appear at the far end of the roof, using the crates to gain rooftop access. Mirix instead simply scaled the wall before him, directly beneath the chimney, defying gravity and running up the surface on all fours.

When he reached the top of the building, instead of simply saying hello or anything at all to grab the other's attention, Mirix opted for a more startling option. The demon swung his arm with full force through the chimneystack, sending the bricks which constructed it flying and the entire structure that the other demon was perched upon collapsing in upon itself.

    "I've found you!"

There wasn't really much that Illid was expecting at all. While he had assumed the unknown demon would give chase of some sort he was not going to assume just how it would be done. His experience with other breeds of demon was limited and at best he only knew not to pick a fight with one. He was not stupid, he knew he was startling young for one of his kind and if he got into physical combat with another he would most likely not win. Ending his short life in such a way was not a goal of his, he'd like to see what this spinning world looked like about 1000 years from now, not how his own funeral would be. Rather stark he assumed. An unmarked grave perhaps? Well he assumed Jack would be terribly distraught. Maybe she'd go on a rampaging killing spree and take a handful of souls with him? That was a nice thought.

Ah but there was no time for this sort of musing. Illid came back to attention and scanned the streets for his pursuer. A slender brow was arched as he saw him bulldoze through the crowd of unhappy civillians, several sent sprawling to the sides or atop each other. He couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the display. There was a good deal of docility in him when compared to other demons he supposed, his own methods leaned more towards passive aggressive torment than outright torture. It was after this amusing scene that he lost sight of Mirix and became tense. Where exactly had he gone now, was he still coming after him or had he lost interest? There wasn't much time to consider this as he heard the sound of claws and feet joining him on the rooftop. His head turned just in time to see the powerful arm swing through the brick sides of the chimney.

A loud hiss that was probably some sort of curse was heard as Illid leaped from the swiftly collapsing structure. He rolled forward across the rooftop, tumbling upright onto his feet before he quickly stood and turned around to face Mirix, eyes wide. The viper around his hand had shifted down to squeeze his neck during the jump and had to slowly uncoil to allow Illid to breathe once again as it relaxed. What the hell had just happened? He'd heard of abrupt greetings but this was just kind of ridiculous. There was also the added certainty that several eyes from the street below were locked on them now in a mixture of terror and confusion. Had the chimney just exploded? No, a man had just casually smashed his arm through it like it was made of plastic blocks.

But...at least it was interesting. Even if he was reluctant to admit it, if Mirix had simply strolled up and offered him a handshake he would have been terribly disappointed.

"Well, fine. You've found me. And what do you hope to accomplish with that?"

Illid's voice was calm and collected despite how he had just very nearly jumped out of his own skin. It was a fright that didn't come often to the male but how else was he supposed to react to something like that? Besides, he wanted to know what this demon's angle was. What did he want with him? Was it just because they shared the same speciation or was there something more? Either way he was ready to run if it wasn't a particularly favorable reasoning. Hopefully Chimer wouldn't constrict around his neck again as he kind of enjoyed the privilege of breathing.

A pleased, amused bout of laughter erupted from Mirix as the other leapt away from the chimney. He himself stayed where he was, eyes momentarily shining silver through the dusty red haze that was created from the debris of collapsing bricks. "Did I scare you?" He asked darkly, the tone of his voice implying that he hoped that was the case. Mirix paid no mind to, nor cared about the reaction of the humans below. Humans in general, unless there was a specific one on which he was focusing his attention upon, could very well just not exist as far as he was concerned. It wasn't as if any of them would have the guts to venture up to the rooftop to investigate anyway. Even if one surprised him and did, that would be a foolish mistake, and indeed the last one they'd ever manage to make.

Mirix stared at the other as he tumbled and righted himself, his gaze holding a dark intensity. He took in the sight of the other more completely now, looking him up and down several times over. He looked young, fresh, with his fair skin and snake companion, but in the end that didn't mean much. When it came to entities such as demons, looks could be horribly deceiving. Much to that effect, Mirix didn't much think that he looked his age at all.

"I am not sure. I've been wandering this world for quite a while, but this is the first time I've run into another of our kin." Mirix left out mention of his brother, for he didn't exactly count when it came to this particular circumstance. The silver haired creature began walking forward then, slowly, casually, with no intention on being particularly threatening. His voice, in turn, was fairly cheerful; though with a hint of excitement to it which combined might seem a bit surprising.

"Who are you anyway, and where have you been hiding all this time?

    Our kin

So was that his angle? He was just curious upon finding another demon? Well it made sense he supposed but it seemed rather simplistic. Plus Illid had always been taught that there was no real loyalty between their kind and to treat another demon as he would any particularly threatening individual; with caution. But, so far aside from destroying private property in close proximity to his form Mirix didn't seem particularly inclined to cause him any physical harm. So for the time being he'd give him the slightest benefit of the doubt and indulge his curiosities, to some degree.

"Scared....no. Startled that you'd destroy the entire chimney to get my attention, just a bit."

That he couldn't lie about, his wide eyed expression had told it all after he'd tumbled off the pile of rubble that used to be a chimney. Frightened wasn't the exact word he'd use though, that caused a certain different rush of adrenaline, as he'd come to understand. To be perfectly honest he hadn't run into another demon in some time either, not since he left home anyway. And home was just...another story altogether. Not that he'd been hiding as Mirix implied, he'd been traveling rather openly. It was kind of difficult to hide one's species when he had scales on his face, reptilian eyes, and a forked tongue. Speaking of non-human additions, Illid couldn't help but notice those fluffy ears atop Mirix's head. That was strangely...adorable for a blood thirsty demon. Not what the serpentine male would really categorize at cute but he could imagine the wide eyes of little girls before they realized this kitty cat was more inclined to eat them than purr.

"I haven't been in this area long, and I certainly haven't been hiding..." Illid's arms folded across his chest as he studied Mirix.

It almost seemed as if the older demon was excited by their meeting; was it really so strange meeting another demon? It wasn't as if he'd run into any others either but he found himself more suspicious than thrilled with the situation. Maybe this man would prove him otherwise but for the time being he would remain cynical.

    "My name is Illid. Yours?"

He figured there was no point in playing hard to get with titles, it wasn't as if his name was a secret or particularly infamous. As for this demon's name, well, he had no idea what it might be so he had to assume that if he was well known it was at a point before he'd arrived in the country, as his own knowledge was limited to what he'd gathered in the past ten minutes or so. Chimer had settled around Illid's shoulders comfortably now and hissed close to the young demon's ear, almost as if he were speaking though there was no sound of words.
