Jundamr walked through the desert, his hair dripping occasionally. He was a miracle, a man in a desert that was soaked. The irony got to Jundamr and he chuckled slightly. A sea creature by nature Jun was lost, He always was. The serpent sat and thought for a second, then he took the jerky leaf out of the bag across his shoulder and took out a small peice. As he put it in his mouth he felt calmer. Funny how such a tiny thing made him feel better. Then he tucked away the leaf after tieing it up. Jundamr stood up and set off walking, he turned the jerky over in his mouth thoughtfully. This masive endless desert wouldn't beat him. Then Jundamr began to sing a song. A song any sailor would know, it was the song of the sea at night. While no land creature knew it, exept sailors. Every sea creature knew it by heart, The song of the Sea. |

Shrista hated the sand. Hated it with a vengeance. It got everywhere, in her mouth, up her nose, in her eyes and unbelievably under her clothes. Tying a damp cloth over her eyes had helped somewhat, though the front was now gritty with tiny grains of the stuff. At least the light material was just transparent enough to see through. If it limited her visibility, it couldn't possibly be worse than being half blind by the glare of the dunes anyway. Her cloak was thrown back over one shoulder, whipping like a flag in the buffeting wind, hood thrown back so her short pale hair rose around her head like a halo, tangling itself like loose threads of raw silk. She stopped, bent double, one hand clasped to her mouth coughing, near choking at the sand that had just had the indecency to fly right into her mouth and lodge in her throat. Why had she even taken this job? Aside from the money, there must have been others. Oh who am I kidding, I spent more than a week in that town chasing rumor and waiting for someone to offer me something, anything. Never going to catch it if I just stand here eating sand. Unfortunately although she'd been making good progress, the wind had gradually grown stronger over the day and was erasing the tracks she'd been stalking. The deep furrow in the sand was all but gone as far as she could see. Maybe if she topped the dune she'd be able to see on the other side, and it'd be a little more sheltered... Her foot sank further than expected, and for a wild moment she opened her mouth in a gasp, taking in another lungful of grit, waving her arms crazily. By Lolth's underwear! She toppled forwards, foot coming free as she hit the sand, rolling and skidding down the dune to rest at the bottom. Groaning at the light burning sensation of friction burn, she levered herself up, catching sight of a silouhette not far from where she'd faceplanted. The Drow's eyes narrowed as she watched them. They appeared to be walking away, which is why they'd not seen her yet, and she behind the dune with her cloth hadn't spotted them until full on in the light. Wiping sand from her mouth she took a swig from one of the waterskins tied to her belt, mumbling "What are they doing all the way out her? I'll take no competition..." Carefully she climbed to her feet, and noted the vibrations beginning to make her teeth rattle in her head, the sand jumping about as if alive. Her hand went to her whip, in the split second that the dune she rolled down exploded outwards, showering her with debris, and revealing a twenty-foot Sand Serpent, still drooling blood and acid from their last encounter, and now seeking it's quarry with hungry rage-filled eyes. |

Jundam reached the top of a dune and grinned jumping onto the downward slope. His feet hit the sand which began to move under him. He managed to stay balenced though and slid down the dune quickly, as he hit the bootom he rolled and jumped to his feet before walking forward. He had to find a town soon, he told himself calmly as he continued on. Soon the sea creature began to feel something was wrong, a sence of foreboding. He put his hand on the handle of his hammer and then the vibrations started, and the snake brust from the ground. It was no-where as large as Jundamr in serpent form but was still rather large. In a swift movement Jundamr drew his hammer and got into a battle stance the sharp end of the tooth pointing to the ground. His left hand gripped high on the handle while the right was as far down as possable nearly. "WELL THIS IS ALL I NEED!!!" Jundamr yelled the agitation clear in his voice. It was times like this he wished he had a companion. ((OOC:my chosen battle theme for this fight: the dark collossus destroys all.)) |

The serpent hung for a moment, the rest of its body slipping from the dune and coiling around it. Forked tongue flicked out from his lips, tasting the air, head swaying from side to side as looked between the two humanoids. Shrista balanced herself, feet apart, as her whip uncoiled with a soft 'thup' onto the ground, looking itself like a spined snake lying in wait. Uncertaintly boiled in her stomach as she watched Jundamr draw a huge hammer and prepare to attack it, head on. Her hand twitched, causing the whip to jump. The serpent had turned its baleful gaze on the stranger at his shout, drawing its head back with a vicious hiss it exposed fangs, jaws gaping wide, a deep slash into the left side still weeping blood. The flattened hood of skin came out, making it appear even larger and more threatening as it began to uncoil and move in his direction. "Fool..he must really be crazy, walking in the desert, and now..this!" Gripping the shaft of her whip til her knuckles began to turn white she swallowed what fear was still trying to hold her there and darted forwards, snapping out her weapon, the barbed tip licking across the serpents back and tearing a bright line through the flat shining scales. "Come on big boy! You want me? Well..HERE I AM! ULU ULTRINNAN!" The whip snapped another bite across the creatures' body, before she began to run in the other direction, leading the now furious beast away from the stranger. Heat on her back made her shift her cloak, now spattered with venom so that it didn't touch her skin. She'd seen what it could do to buildings, and really didn't want to find out what damage to her skin could be done by it as well. ((I'm listening to 'this' :D)) |

Jordan looked head on to the snake, he didn't fear it because he knew he was really bigger. The snake however lacked this knowlage and just saw Jun as a meal, a pity for it. Then a woman appeared and struck the snake with a whip. While this hurt the snake it probably wouldn't kill him. She was obviusly just trying to keep Jundamr safe. Jundamr sighed to exhale all the air in his lungs the breathed in deeply and charged forward, he pushed of the ground with both feet and smashed the blunt end of the hammer into the creature's crainium, wath a loud battle cry. "Hey green eyes! don't mess with a bigger serpent" Jundamr smiled from the snakes head then swing round in a windmill strike sinking the sharp spike into the creatures face, hard using the momentum of the spin to inflict more damage. Then he smiled to the drow. Need a hand love? He asked |

Shrista blinked, nearly losing her balance as she saw the serpent begin to strike, jaws gaping. She was ready, she would kill it this time before it had the chance to run. Her kris flashed into her other hand as she crouched. Closer..closer... The giant snake reeled back, blood and spittle flying from its maw as the stranger leapt forward and struck it hard in the face with his hammer, catching it with the spike on a powerful backswing. A bigger serpent? 'Need a hand love?' His comment both galled and amused her, and she found herself not knowing whether to grind her teeth or start laughing. There was no time however, ducking a swipe of the tail she launched herself forwards, rolling low to avoid a second sweep and driving her blade into the soft flesh of the serpents belly, the jagged metal edge tearing a ragged hole before she stuck it in again, blood coating her to the forearms, slick and warm, reeking of iron as it splashed over her chest and middle, splattering into the thirsty earth and turning the sand black. Twisting away she delivered a swift strike of the whip to the beasts open mouth, grappling a fang and dragging it's head down towards the ground. It might have worked better had the creature not reared up suddenly, spitting acid and taking her up with it, feet kicking as they left the ground. She hadn't expected it, with its face now ruined and blind in one eye to even be able to resist so strongly, and clawed at the smooth scales for a purchase with her nails as she slid from its back. Fuck! This wasn't how it was supposed to go! Why do ideas always seem better in your head?! |

Jundamr watched as the woman attacked. Both attacks were effective and the snake reared up. Jundamr smiled slightly and and ran down the nose. "Now you die!" Jundamr yelled in snakeish. Then he smashed the hammer across the snakes face with the blunt end and jumped off. He swung his hammer again sharp end this time, burying the hammer in deep and as gravity dragged Jundamr down the hole was ripped wider. Then in a swift move Jun ripped out the hammer. Getting ready to attack the snake just in case. The moves Jun had used were strong but he was curretly human, so the serpent didn't know how well they would work. The drow might want something else from Jun any way so it was probably better to keep it out. |

Landing hard on her backside, Shrista winced and started, scrambling backwards as the giant snake toppled, raising a light cloud of sand. It settled, and the beast lay where it had fallen, the life bleeding out of it into the sand. Hmph...coulda handled it myself...guess he'll want a chunk of the reward now as well. Only fair, he didn't have to help... Shoving her dagger several times into the sand to scrub off the sticky blood, she awkwardly got to her feet, returning the blade to the sheath hidden in the lining of her boot, the confortable weight settling back against her thigh where it was supposed to be. Jerking her wrist the whip flew up, coiling, and she began trudging to the other side of the snake, both to assess the damage, and see who this stranger was. As she rounded the creature's head and noted the glazed unseeing eye, Shrista knew it was over, and felt relief. She'd never had to fight anything that big, except for that one time they accelerated the growth on a young wyrm, but then, it did have the mind of a child, even with an adult body. Frowning she gazed at the stranger, still holding his hammer. He was...soaking wet, in the middle of a desert? How curious...and he had shouted something that had sounded like a venomous hiss as he leapt at it before it fell. There was surely more than met the eye with this one. Warily she approached, and offered him a guarded thanks, "Thank you for that...I suppose you'll be wanting something from this so...well, take one of the fangs. You can use it to claim half the reward on this things head..." That said, she turned and began applying her boot to the serpents mouth, loosening the already weakened tooth she had been after until it came free with a squelching noise, dragging most of the bloodied root with it. |

Jundamr quickly realised the creature was dead and dropped to his knees, panting slightly. He sheathed his hammer slowly and stood as the woman spoke to him. "No, I didn't need the money. You however might, so could I pay you my half to get me out of here? Jundamr asked honestly. He was fed up of this sand. As a reflex Jundamr shook his head, splattering the area with bits of water. The serpent walked over to the drow and smiled. "your welcome by the way, and me names Jundamr! he said holding his hand out. |

Well that was a turn up for the books. At least she wouldn't lose profit. Getting them back on the water she had however might prove to be more problematic, and as it was already westering towards night, she wanted to be moving. At least then they could get back to that oasis and refill her water skins. "Aye...I'm Shrista." She slapped her hand into his and gave him a firm handshake. Why all the touching? Their society is most strange. "Well...I have been chasing this for four days now, winding back and forth...half a days hard walk from here there was an oasis. If we're to make it back alive, we'll need to top up my water supply." She took a pull from the skin of tepid slightly stale water and grimaced. "Not great, but it'll do for now." Tossing the skin to him she drew her blade and began cutting out the other fang, considering whether to cut a chunk of the snake meat and carry it with them. It would make a good enough meal once cooked, and would save having to run around chasing small lizards and insects again, or living off the toughened travel bread in her pack. She could check her cloak for damage later, no doubt there was some, with acid like the creature had running through its glands. |

Jundamr with drew and nodded as he was told the drows name. Then she told him she'd been tracking the creature for four days and they were a way from the nearest oasis. then she took a drink and threw the skin to Jun. He caught the skin and took a swig, more for looks than anything. He sighed slightly as the meat was cut from the snake and got a piece of jerky, he then offered Shirista a piece and put it back. He straighted his shirt and passed back the skin, then Jun made the motion to lead the way. |

Declining the jerky politely, she accepted the waterskin back and took another pull, capping it and returning it to her belt. Grasping the remaining bloodied tooth she pullled hard and it came free with a wet sucking noise, leaving a gasping hole in the serpents mouth. She'd seen enough damaged flesh and organs over the years to not be phased by this, pulling a sack of woven burlap from her bag and throwing both fangs in, then after a moment, cutting a few choice pieces of the tough meat and throwing those in the bag too. She didn't know what this man would eat, but if he didn't want the meat once it was cooked, then it would last for a while and could replenish her supplies until the town was reached. Shrista slung the bag over her shoulders, wiping her rapidly drying hands on the material as dried blood, caked over her knuckles, flaked away again leaving her ebony skin to show through beneath. The town was north, and the oasis to the east a little, I came almost directly southwest so... Glancing at the sand she picked out her tracks leading away into the desert, the horizon shimmering gently with the reflected heat from the sand. Bracing her shoulders she set off the way she came at a steady ground-eating pace. "Let's be off, I've taken more than I can stand of this accursed desert." |
