The place was interesting, so far. She hadn't seen much but the river and some clearings, but there was supposed to be a town somewhere on this island. That's the rumours she'd heard, atleast. With a sigh, Ira sat on a small, flat rock, getting the katana and dagger off her hips and lying them down next to her. Her "choice" of clothes today was much the same as she'd been wearing the last few days in this area. A loose brown shawl with gold tints and reddish brown shorts. She'd have to find a hiding place on this island somewhere, a good one, obviously. But for now, she would practice some of her magic. The invisibility was first up. She practiced cloaking herself in it and trying to keep herself from becoming at all visible the faster she walked. After almost half an hour, she was minimally better, being able to even run for a few seconds before the cover slipped enough that it was obvious to anyone else someone or something was present. After that was practicing healing. She took a break first, sitting on the grass, looking up into the late afternoon sky. It was cooler today than it had been, which was a welcome relief. One of the reasons she'd picked today to actually really work on her skills. Done with her break, she took her dagger, unsheathed it, and started making small cuts on her arms, then larger ones. She could always find some hurt animal, or even a dying plant, but this was easier. And she didn't have much experience with healing plants. In fact, she had none at all. The young woman figured she should probably work on that too; but not today. This exercise took longer and drained her more than the invisibility had. After an hour, she decided she'd done as much as she could. As far as she knew, she hadn't gotten any better. Not perceptively atleast. Ira cleaned the blade carefully, resheathed it and laid back, head against the rock. She had to learn more magic too. Offensive stuff; though shapeshifting was already pretty good for that, it left her without clothes, and that was an irritation, no doubt about it. After resting a bit longer, she got up with a grunt and grabbed her katana, then got down to practicing those skills, swinging her blade through the air, sidestepping, thrusting, rolling. This was going to be the exercise that really tired her out. She had yet to encounter anything very dangerous on this island, and so felt safe enough to tire herself like this. Maybe it wasn't a very smart idea. Edited by Ira, Sep 25 2011, 12:11 PM.

Jordan sighed, it was a sigh of contentment. Jordan loved to be among nature. The kitsune was enjoying his stroll. His two tails wagged slightly behind his coat. He walked along a river for a while before siting down. It wasn't the best way to spend the day but it was his favorite. About lunchtime Jordan reached into his pocket and pulled out a couple of slices of bread and some sliced cheese, he put the cheese inside the bread slices and bit in. After he finished eating Jordan took a drink from the cool waters of the river. he straighted up and began to wander again taking in all of the view. it was remarkably quiet, only the sound of animals broke the silence. The kitsune breathed deeply and then exhaled. then in the distance he spotted a woman on a rock. The kitsunes curiosity drew him the the woman and he walked over to her. "Afternoon" Jordan said as he got into range. Then he sat downthrowing his coat back so as not to pull it tight. |

Ira heard something, whipped around, sword raised. There was a...person. She knew anthros, but this one didn't seem the same. He was non-threatening, though, and only greeted her with a word, so she lowered her weapon. "Sorry, you have to be careful out here. Good afternoon to you too." She kept her eyes on him as walked over to the rock and sheathed her katana, then stood, watching him silently for a few moments before speaking again. "I don't mean to be rude, but...what are you? I know you're not an anthro. But..." The woman trailed off, shaking her head slightly and smiling. "I've heard of the term kitsune. They're supposed to be humans with animal features, which is what he looks to be, but...I don't know." With that thought done, she decided to sit on the rock, and smoothed out the small tangles in her hair with her fingers as she looked at him, waiting for his answer. the woman had turned to him with weapon drawn, but she had quickly lowered it and aplogised before greeting him back and sheathing the sword. She watched Jordan and he smiled slightly at her. She was unsure what he was but Jordan felt sure she had a rough idea. "I am a kitsune, but rather more importantly I am called Jordan." Jordan chuckled. The woman absent mindedly played with her hair. "don't worry I mean no harm" Jordan hadn't eaten much and his stumach growled. He was quite embaresed and so made a joke to feel a little better. "you know that it is considered impolite by some to not offer powerful mystical creatures something to eat when they grace you with there presence?" Jordan frowned in feinged anger for a second then chuckled, throwing his head back. Then his right ear twiched slightly. |

Squatting down within the trees, Jethro remained still as he watched the two in the slight clearing before the river. He had been there for some time, watching the woman cut herself than heal it. He was fascinated by magic as he never had the aptitude to perform it himself. He had been coming this way to replenish his supply of water, his store of it had almost ran out. Luckily he had sensed that there was water nearby. He had only assumed that he could sense water because of paying attention to his surroundings, little did he know that it was an ability beyond just noticing details. The woman had switched to practicing more martial skills, things that he could understand and perform. He skill was mediocre, there would be much that he could teach her, or he could easily overtake her. This thought made him giggle inside his head. "Perhaps I could overtake her and take her things..." He perused her further and noticed something. "Well it doesn't appear that she has much does it dumby?" He was having a quiet conversation within himself under his breath. Than a Kitsune walked up and the conversation quickly rolled into food. They appeared to be cordial to each other and Jethro laughed to himself. He walked out of the trees, looking rather dirty with his hair a mess and arms out to his sides palms out. "Don't mind me, I'm just looking for water..." He said as he started walking toward the river. |

Ira nodded, confirmed in her suspicions, then laughed with him when he joked about mystical creatures and food. "Yes, by some," she said playfully. Then she shrugged and added, "But I don't have food anyway, so I couldn't offer it to you even if I wanted to." The young woman thought a moment, then asked him, "But how are you powerful? Do kitsune transform into their animal counterparts?" Hearing something, she followed the noise and saw a man emerging from the trees. Hrm... "Just looking for water? Okay, well I'll trust you for now." She nodded in his direction as a response, then looked back to Jordan. "Oh," she said, mentally smacking herself. "I forgot. My name is Ira." With that said, she took her katana from its sheath and laid it on her lap, cleaning it as a pretense to have it out, glancing between the two men; one because she wished an answer and the other because she didn't quite trust him. Untidy and/or unclean never gave you a good first impression, and so she had reason to watch his figure out of the corner of her eye. |

The woman answered with her own answer quickly. She was clever. Jordan waited for a second as the woman looked about to ask a question. she asked about shape shifting, Jordan was put out by this as he had yet to learn to do this. Then a dirty fellow walked towards the river and told them not to bother with him. Jordan turned and nodded smiling. Then the woman sat and began polishing her blade. Jordan thought a second before replying to her question. "Well I have a fair magical understanding. Yes kitsune can turn into other creatures and return to there natural fox shapes, a skill I am currently working on learning." Jordan said honestly. He still didn't know how to transform but his mother always told him one day it would just come to him. Then the woman told him her name. "pleased to meet you Ira." Jordan said. He then realised he should at one point probably get some proper food . . . hunting was always an option. "well Ira, we should probly address the no food problem. Would you like to come hunting? I always have a problem with cooking and could do with a hand taking down something to." the kitsune asked hoping she did hunt. |

Jethro walked through, realizing that the woman drew her sword in order to clean it. He found it somewhat funny as he had watched her clean it but a few minutes before the tailed one came on. Reaching the edge of the water, the man sat his knapsack on the ground and withdrew a canteen to refresh it's insides with cool water. Listening to the swift conversation he smiled, at least they were being cordial. Though most times that kind of conversation ended awkwardly. "Should we intervene and give them some of our bounty?" Jethro frowned to himself as he pulled out another canteen to fill. "I don't know, I mean I did track it and kill it myself, it's part of my stores. You know I'm not a fan of sharing that unless they put effort into it." Jethro wiped off the second canteen and deposited it into his knapsack. "You know that some people aren't as fortunate as you are. Besides, how are you supposed to get a crew together if you don't share with them?" He cinched up his face in frustrated defeat to himself before lifting his still open knapsack and turned to the others. "Well it seems that I have just the right amount to share. I've already eaten but you can partake if you'd like. I have two cured squirrels here from yesterday that I haven't eaten yet." Coming a few feet away from the other two he sat down his pack and took out the two cooked animals and held them out to the woman and Kitsune. |

Ira smiled when Jordan asked about hunting, but was quickly interrupted before she could agree. Of course, she'd been thinking of shapeshifting to hunt (it's how she'd always done it), and she wasn't sure that would have been a very nice gesture. He couldn't do it, and it might make him feel bad. She tensed, hands clutched on her sword as the other man spoke. Then with a shrug, she forced herself to relax and took her sword from her lap, slowly sheathing it once again. Extending her hand, she took the cooked animal from him. "Thank you." The young woman wasn't sure how to broach the question she wanted to ask Jordan. Then again, it would still be a bad idea to shapeshift around him - she wasn't sure if he'd feel like she was flaunting or something. So instead she made a general statement. "Any time it's needed, I'd be happy to hunt. I'm quite good at it, actually." She smiled slightly, then eyed the squirrel before taking a chunk out of it's side and chewing vigorously. Honestly, she didn't care much for manners, and she couldn't imagine eating it any other way. Actually, she usually ate in one of her other forms if she wasn't in a tavern or inn. So she didn't know quite how to eat like this. |

Jordan smiled at the wildman. "why , thank you" he said smiling and began to gnaw on it . . . not unakin to how a fox might. He nodded at Ira's comment. He knew he hadn't offended her which he was glad of. The kitsune turned and smiled at the wildman again realising he hadn't been invited to sit with them. "Would you like to join us sir? I am Jordan" the kitsune said kindly, no malice of any kind in his voice. He then when quiet, his curiosity was eating him up. It was in Jordan's nature to be inquisitive. "So you two seem interesting, what are your stories?" Jordan asked as politely as he could and began to listen his right ear twiching a bit. |

A nod replied to their 'Thanks'. Jethro smiled when they started to eat his food. It wasn't but a few moments before he plopped right down where he was standing, folding his legs underneath him and setting his hands on his knees. He shifted around a bit before straightening his back with a satisfied smile. "I am the one they call Jethro D'Angelo." He looked down and to his left slightly before speaking again. "Should we give them the long version or the short version Jethro?" He chuckled and shook his head. "No, no, no...if we give them the long version than they might as well stuff themselves in those fanciful positions like a bobcat in a palace hall!" Jethro sniffled in a chuckle before looking back up at the two and smiled as if nothing had happened. It always brought on some measure of awkwardness in conversations that he had with people when he did this around them. "I am a mercenary by trade. Though the reason why I am in this region is rather different. I tire of working for some random Lord or Lady who wishes to attack someone or acquire some measure of vengeance. I have an ambition to gather together a crew and explore the Ruin of Storms." The man sat there in his stiff yet comfortable position on the dirt, looking like a bag of mess, smiling as if he had just proposed a walk on the beach between two young sweethearts. ((EDIT: Spelling error.)) |

Apparently humans ate much the same way as animals when they had no utensils, albeit a little more neatly, for the most part. "So you two seem interesting, what are your stories?" "Like hell I'm going to tell you my background. You may mean well, but you're still a stranger, and a magical being." The problem of answering was once again solved by the other man, who she now learned was called Jethro. And...who talked to himself. Strange. She talked to herself sometimes too, but not in company. When he looked up to smile at them, she smiled in return. "The Ruin of Storms...? I have yet to visit there." Ira was reluctant to trust him, but he seemed harmless enough right now. Something nagged at her, but with a shake of her head she dismissed it and added on to what she'd said before. "If you wouldn't mind, I'd be interested in joining. Like I said, I have yet to actually explore that area myself, and I also have some coin that could help with financing such a trip." This man seemed like either the very picky, or not all picky, sort. The young woman couldn't see a reason she shouldn't be allowed to go. If necessary, she could always trot out all her skills; healing (which she imagined could be very important), shapeshifting into powerful and dangerous animals, the ability to turn and invisible and possibly sneak somewhere that was otherwise guarded. There was always the matter of her affinity to animals and her stronger senses, too. |

Jordan listened kindly to the strangers story and nodded occasionally, to show he was listening even if he wasn't too good at eye contact. "I have an ambition to gather together a crew and explore the Ruin of Storms." These words echoed around Jordan's brain. The ruins had been rarely explored and rarer any info brought back. The kitsune's right ear twitched again and he spoke to the other two. ""i two wish to come if there is room, my little knowledge of magic may be useful. There may be lost magic or other information down there. maybe even an artifact or two i could investigate." he said calmly then the thing that he though would seal the deal with anyone who wished to join or fund such and expedition slipped past Jordan's lips. "you know, any information or working artifacts could be worth a lot of money here, enough to make anyone rich he said absent minded. |

The Ruin of Storms was always a weird topic of discussion with any number and type of people. The only thing that was standard in those discussions is that interest in the subject would be revealed. No matter who it was any kind of mysterious place or subject would spark a conversation of 'what is there' or 'what could be there' that would eventually lead down the path to 'we should go' or 'could you imagine what it would be like to be there?' No one can deny the lore of the unknown, no matter their standing in the world. "I expect that both of you would want to come. But the issue is as thus..." Jethro smiled and waved his hand continuing to speak. "I need to take people who are only useful to the expedition. I'm well aware of the possibility that there could be many riches there, both of an academic and monetary nature. I can not just take anyone though. Every person must fill a necessary position." Some moments Jethro was the image of a intelligent and professional person, the other moments he was his usual self...though that was different from how he was before he left home. He still had no idea how he would seem to his family when he ran into them again. "What is it that the two of you can offer to my crew? Your financial aid would be more than useful Ira, but what else? Also, what is it that you do Jordan?" |

"Well, makes sense he would ask," she thought, sighing to herself. "Well, besides the money," she began, putting down the half-gone squirrel and glancing over at the kitsune. Jethro must have overheard her name when she told it to Jordan, because she certainly hadn't told him... "I can also shapeshift into pretty much any animal, and I can heal minor wounds. I can turn invisible for several minutes at a time. I have enhanced senses, I can communicate a bit with animals, and I can disarm simple traps." She'd forgotten about the last one. She'd just recently learned that one, but it usually didn't have much use so she hadn't dwelt on it. Maybe it would be helpful here though. Ira glanced to Jordan, biting into the squirrel and watching him, curious as to what he could offer. |

Jordan sighed a little as Ira spoke her talents, she could shape shift . . . she looked his age too and she did it even without naturally being a species that had the ability. He looked at the floor a second then realised he had no confidence in his own abilities and felt sure he wouldn't get on the expedition. "Well I am a scholar by profession, I specialize in magic and mythology. I can fight with most weapons in a basic style but stick to my sword and sickle. I have a basic ability with gravity, time and wind magic though I am learning more." the kitsune said calmly. If he wasn't accepted into the expedition then fair enough, he would be upset but could live with it. |

"Hmm...." Jethro simply said to himself. His mind was flowing throughout it's great river of thought. Possibilities both positive and negative popped into the forefront of his mind. "Are they crazy Jethro? I mean they only just met me, I could have murdered my gran with a hammer...or better yet...a serrated spoon for fruit." Jethro chuckled at his own conversation. Then suddenly looked back up to them with a boyish smirk and stated his mind plainly. "Well, we have an infiltrator and a healer in you..." Jethro motioned to Ira kindly nodding his head, then continued on. "And a translator for what we might find there, you could most assuredly appraise what it is that we find. Thankfully though, you state that you can handle yourself in a tiff." Jethro giggled like a school boy as he loved hearing and especially saying the word 'Tiff'. "Both of you would be a worthy addition to my team, if your abilities are what they say they are. May I ask the both of you what your terms are in joining? Or are you possibly crazy enough to join my team without setting terms for yourselves? I wouldn't mind though, some say that I am a bit crazy." Another chuckle left the man's lips before sitting there before them waiting for a response. |

Iraeni cocked her head, listening to him ramble. It could get to be either annoying or endearing, if she had to put up with this. And it looked like she would, since the man had just accepted both of them. She finished up the squirrel and sighed, wiping her hands first across her mouth, then onto the rock to get rid of any mess she'd left. "Terms? Well, I'd like a share of the profits. Since there are just three of us, I would say a third. But I'm assuming we're going to get more. Unless somebody just sits and does nothing but complain the whole way, I think we would all get an equal share, if possible. Then again, it might not be money or anything easily sold." The young woman thought a moment. "Well, whatever we may find, or shortly before we set off, we can decide on what we all think is fair...to be honest, I've never done this before, so I don't exactly know how it all generally works." With a shrug she eased herself off the rock, pacing slowly while she waited again for Jethro or Jordan to say something, thinking about this new experience that was to come. |

Jordan coughed embarrassed as Jethro spoke to himself, then he asked what Jordan's terms were. Before Jordan got chance to answer Jethro, Ira spoke up about wanting a share of the profits. Jordan smiled at her, he had to admit she was very clever with money. That was something Jordan failed at, money management. Jordan looked at the floor, and thought about what he wanted. "Well, I would like a claim to any magical knowledge, like book and things in there to study them and to have my name recorded as part of the expedition, mainly as the translator behind the thing. That's all I require, and I honestly I know that the chances of books surviving the ages are slim, maybe some tablets but I only wish to study them for a while. Then you may do what you like with them." Jordan knew he was rambling but his terms need to be stated. He grinned, The kitsune was looking forward to this now, the adventurous side of him anyway. The knowledgeable side of him was . . . actually that was just as exited. |

They had spoke their terms, or at least their thoughts on terms. It is an odd situation, as most people unless they are professional explorers or mercenaries would not know what is or is not reasonable terms for something like this. What was better though? An adventure filled with dangerous mystery and possible fortunes that no one could imagine or predict. Most of all though, for Jethro, there was the fact that he would be that great man that gathers people to go on his adventures, not the other way. "Those all seem like reasonable terms. You Jordan..." he motioned to the Kitsune and continued to speak. "Only wish to study the artifacts, that is fine to me. And you Ira wish an even share of the profits." He nodded to the woman as he said her name. "I would like to offer everyone involved an equal share, and that includes the artifacts..." Jethro visually went into thought for a moment, looking into midair for a moment with a serious face displayed. "This will all be divided on the return trip or at the full return of our voyage. That will be determined once we undergo our voyage back." He took a moment more to consider something. "For now though, I wish you both to meet me in Madrid to find a vessel to our next destination in one week. At high noon by the dock master's office. I will have the next destination at that time and hopefully more people involved. Questions or concerns?" Jethro wore a smile as he sat there, almost ready to get things under way, or at least he was getting things under way finally. |

All perfectly reasonable, good for a first experience. She just hoped nothing would happen to get in the way of everyone having an equal share by the end. "Madrid? In a week. Noon, dock master...? Might as well head there starting tomorrow. Better to be early than miss the opportunity. Has he been there before? Sounds so sure." Ira stared at him for a few seconds before shaking her head. "Nothing comes to mind," she said, walking slowly back towards them, arms crossed over her chest. Not any necessary ones, atleast. Any questions she might have were those you usually wouldn't ask of someone; not quite private, but not something to usually be exchanged between strangers. The young woman brushed away a stray strand of hair with her hand. With an almost physical start, she realized she'd shed her distrust completely and left her weapons just sitting near them, unguarded. It took her another few seconds of staring before she brushed that away too. Not only did they not seem malicious at all, but if they had wanted to steal something, then they would have done it by now. |

Jordan thought for a second. "no that seems fine, I will see you then and there" He said calmly and grinned. Everything was fine with that, he could not think of a problem. Jordans mind wandered, perhaps there was lost magiks down there. he could improve and maybe even learn to shape shift down there! There are so many, many magics in the world. Jordan wondered just how many could be found. Of course he would share any knowledge, but such promise made Jordan tingle. The kitsune wanted to leave and get his stuff and supplies but wasn't sure how to politely excuse himself. |
