It was a beautiful day and the sun was high in the sky, peeking through the treetops. It made the whole place seem a lot brighter, and unfortunately for some, a lot hotter too. This was of course no problem for young Lana though. She wasn't exactly sure how she'd found this place, but she was thoroughly enjoying the heat here. Of course it was nothing like sitting actually in a fire, but it was somewhat similar and it made her feel a lot more comfortable than many of the other places she'd been to. Lana peered up to the treetops and seeing no signs of any ferocious looking birds, she shifted into a salamander. She felt her insides shrink- a surprisingly good feeling- and felt a warm rush push through her body and ignite her tail. She loved being this small because it gave her a different perspective on the world and could show her things that she would have missed if she was human. Scuttling over some fallen branches, Lana made her way through the jungle, hoping to maybe find food of some sort. She had not gone very far when she heard some crunching echoing through the trees. It was without a doubt the sound of someone walking through the jungle, but who would come somewhere so hot? Out of sheer curiosity, Lana followed the sound. She was quite fast at moving through the jungle, not because she's fit or anything, but because she can easily manoeuvre around obstacles. The crunching was getting louder and louder, and soon Lana was sure that the mystery person could not be too far away and sure enough, a few minutes later she spotted a figure moving through the trees. Lana cocked her head to one side and looked the figure up and down. He appeared to be male, but she could not be sure from this far away. Quickly moving again, Lana darted to a rock not too far in front of the man and watched him as he approached her. He was close now, maybe 10 footsteps away when suddenly she lost grip of herself and accidentally shifted back to a little girl. Embarrassed, she spoke up. "Umm, hi. Sorry if I startled you, my name is Lana Eithne. If I'm not intruding, may I ask what you're doing in this Jungle?" |

Most normal people wouldn’t think about roaming the jungle alone, especially the No’Bu Jungle alone. Such things are dangerous. However unlike most sane and normal people, they aren’t Dwonald. He hadn’t been on this plane for very long. In fact no more than an hour at that! He was immediately intrigued by his surroundings. So why not wander! There were many horrible horrifying things. Pythons, panthers. But Dwonald’s happy go lucky attitude kept them all away. He whistled a merry tune. Suddenly! This bright red colored hair was his way. Followed shortly by nothing but some sort of distraction. Dwonald stopped his tracks. He flicked his right ear, possibly out of habit. Something was wrong. They were long and pointed! Why! They weren’t like that hours ago. Or were they, for him it was quite hard to tell. The girl couldn’t have been no more than twelve. And here she was alone in the jungle, an assassin perhaps? Had his dreaded rival sunk so low as to send young woman to do his dirty work!?! The horror. He wasn’t sure quite yet what to make of her. He decided he’d play along if this was some sort of charade. She introduced herself and then asked him what he was doing here. He pondered for a moment. He looked at her, he scratched his chin. “You see. Dwonald was wandering around town this fine afternoon when suddenly this portal opened up. It made promises of sweets, gold, women and whisky. Dwonald jumped at the chance but found himself tricked and sent across dimensions.” He extended his armor outward, circling almost. They were brought up to his head. Raised high. As he did so he made a variety of audible sounds. “Whoooooooo! Bam!” His hands were now raised above his head. “Dwonald landed on his head far back from here on a most cuddly looking Sloth! The sloth did not mind and we proceeded to dance in the moonlight. Or was that a dream. Hard to tell.” It was hard to tell if the man was sane or an eccentric. His hands were still raised above his head. He brought them back down and rubbed his chin some more. “So Dwonald wandered and then Dwonald eventually wound up here in this somewhat wonderful place. Although Dwonald must wonder if this is really a jungle or some type of trial being pushed on him. Alos hard to tell. And that is how I am here.” He grinned. “As for who Dwonald is. Dwonald am I!” He looked about again. “Although one must ask if you are alright? Are you alright Lana Eithne? And by chance do you know a foul little cretin by the name of Colindorf?” He still suspected she might be an assassin. Why else would she be here? Maybe she was responsible for these new pointy ears that he would need to remember to panic about at a slightly less appropriate time. Who knew? He considered panicking about it now but why not build up to it? He mused the thought a little bit more. He liked attention. “Oh. By the way. You don’t happen to be an assassin? This would be very beneficial for Dwonald to know and believe that not telling Dwonald this would ruin any chance of friendship we may have.” Now that he thought on it, she didn’t wish him harm. He could feel it. |

Lana smiled. This man was funny, but he seemed to be quite nice too and that made him alright in her books. When he asked her if she was alright, she furrowed her brow in concentration. "Good sir, Your second query is easier to answer than your first. I do not know of anyone by the name of Colindorf, but I do not know many people at all. As for your first question, well I've never really had someone ask how I am. I… I am physically fine if that's what you ask. It is a beautiful jungle and an even better day." As she finished speaking, her hand moved to the bow at her side, and her thumb began tracing the carved out names of her parents. "An assassin? You mean like someone who is sent to kill you?" She let out a giggle. "Oh Dear Dwonald, I am most certainly not an assassin. I hate using any sort of weapons and I think it would be hard to assassinate someone without weapons, though I know it's not impossible. I carry this bow merely as a means of defence, as well as a reminder of my family." Not wanting to have the man fear her, she pulled her bow out of the bow sheathe at her hip and set it on the ground. "Now the only thing I have of use on me are arrows, but I know no one that can throw an arrow like a bow does." She felt the air get slightly hotter and started to close her eyes to enjoy it, forgetting all her surroundings. She took a deep breath in, and let it out slowly. Snapping her eyes open, she looked at the man. "Oh good sir, I forget how hot this place must be for you. I think we should try and find our way out of here, but I should show you something first. Please don't be alarmed." Closing her eyes again, Lana let her body shrink and her tail ignite. She did a quick glance behind her to check that her tail was completely lit, then she turned her head back to Dwonald. She hoped he would not be frightened, or discourage her from being like this as her parents had done so many times. Shifting back to her normal girly self again, she prepared for whatever he might do. "I am a salamander. I hope you do not find this to be a bad thing." |

Ah! So she was okay. That was good, it looked like that fall at hurt quite a bit. Though it could not possibly be lethal and dying in such a manner would surely embarrass someone to their demise. So to speak. And then even better she confirmed she was not an assassin sent to depart him from this world! A wonderful few hours in this strange new land indeed. She even showed him this fancy looking bow of sorts. He looked at it with wonder and admiration. He wanted one! He nodded at her explanation and then claimed no one can throw an arrow like a bow does. He frowned. That was a challenge and he intended to take it up. He thought about the kind of bow he wanted. It had to be water proof and decorated. The ends of his mouth upturned into a large smile. Then she mentioned she wanted to show him something. Perhaps something amazing and wondrous! He shook with anticipation. Slightly. Then she changed before his eyes in an impressive fashion. He leapt for joy. His arms went wide. Incidentally he knew just what he wanted with that bow. Confetti sprayed out as if he willed it and from nowhere a very decorative Osage self-made type bow materialized plopped to the ground along with a leather quiver with around thirty arrows within it before the two. When Dwonald landed back on the ground, he was oblivious to it, instead he looked at the salamander girl. “Dwonald finds it impressive! Dwonald knows of spirits and such! Are you a fire spirit! Aye!” His smile was as wide as ever. He stopped, face became puzzled and he looked at the bow on the ground. “This sort of stuff always happens to Dwonald.” He reached down and gripped the bow and strapped the quiver on his back. “Dwonald isn’t quite sure why but it must be coincidence or a gift from some mysterious entity from beyond. Who knows, Dwonald doesn’t think of such things ever and has no reason to.” Edited by Dwonald, Jul 8 2011, 01:49 PM.

Lana giggled. "Yes I am a fire spirit. And whoever gave you the gift of the bow must like you indeed. It is a beautiful specimen." She remarked as she stared at the newly present bow. She bent down and picked her own off the ground and sat it back at her hip. "Now come on, let us leave to find a cooler place." She turned towards the east and began walking, remembering that she had crossed water not too long before. If she could find little else, she would at least bring him to water. As she walked, she though about how he had gotten the bow. Granted, it was not like she had no magic of her own, but she didn't know of any people who could just conjure up something like that. He didn't seem to know exactly where it had come from either, but it was his magic and she found it quite odd that he wouldn't know more about it. She stared up at the sun as she walked, hoping it would not be too much further. She liked Dwonald, but she didn't want to be the one to drag him to civilisation if he became dehydrated. Thankfully, she could here the soft trickle of running water in the distance. Pushing away some hanging vines, Lana walked over to the water's edge. There was a large rock in the middle of the water, so Lana carefully stepped over the running water and onto the rock, twisting as she did so she could face Dwonald. "Dear sir, I do hope this water is good enough for you to drink. I have little idea as to where the nearest civilisation is, and I would hate to see you pass out from dehydration." She carefully crossed her legs, and lowered herself until she was sitting cross-legged on the rock. She was about to pull out her bow and practice shooting arrows into the water, when she lost her balance and fell below the surface of the water. |

"Indeed! Dwonald is truly glad to have something like this! It is quite impressive yes! But coincidence!" He was ignorant and oh so naive. He trailed behind her happily humming something to himself. Wandering about to through this jungle was rather tedious and bothersome. Granted his cheery attitude was about as contagious as bubonic plague. One couldn’t help but feel happy around him. She would notice all other wild life would be influenced by this behavior as well. It prevented the mighty predators of this jungle and fierce birds from bothering them. Eventually they came to a river of sorts. He looked at it. “Dwonald doesn’t think this is the most sanitary things. Dwonald is not very fond of su-” And then she fell in. She had her bow drawn and everything. Dwonald paused for less than a moment. He opted to dive in after her. He was a hero after all and hero’s must do heroic things lest they prove they aren’t heroic at all. It made sense enough in his head. Besides. What if she couldn’t swim or was hurt with contact with water. Or worse! What if there were piranha or some other form of strange and horrific beast beneath the tranquil surface of the water before him. He dove in and immediately began searching for his friend whom was currently missing in action. Perhaps he was just over exaggerating things at the moment. All he knew was the water was murky and smelled funny to him. |

She couldn't see anything. She couldn't feel anything. Most fearful of all, she couldn't breathe. She'd never done anything with water but drank it and washed dishes and clothes. She even avoided the rain for this exact reason. It really hurt. She flailed her hands wildly, trying to claw her way to the surface. She'd never been taught to swim before, and it was because of this that she wolf probably die right now. Hitting the bottom with a thud, Lana tried to stand of her feet and push herself upwards, but she was out of breath. She started feeling extremely dizzy and her eyes began to shut. Just before she blacked out, she remembered a slight tugging sensation on her arm. She woke with a start, the sun pointing straight in her eyes and making the edges of her vision remain blurry. She felt sick, like she'd just eaten a bad egg, and she couldn't hear anything. Her ears were probably filled with some kind of underwater goo or something disgusting like that. Either that, or her mind was busy with the fact that there was something important she was missing. Sitting up suddenly, Lana reached her hand to her side and checked her hip, with a gasp, she realised what was wrong. Her bow was gone. Her precious bow with her mother and father's name so delicately carved in it was lost in the water. Still feeling slightly dazed, she stood up and walked to the waters edge, all surroundings forgotten, and hoped her bow would be floating on top. "My bow! My precious bow! I won't leave you behind!" Arms over her head, Lana prepared to dive back in, even though she swear she could hear someone shouting at her. |

He had successfully dragged her out of the water by her arm. Granted it wasn’t hard the water’s nature made it difficult to see. In the process he had also rescued that fine bow! The water would rue the day it had decided to trifle with the one they called Dwonald! Regardless of whether or not the water could rue anything he had departed it and waited patiently by her side till she regained consciousness. But then as she began to regain her senses she stood up and started shouting about her bow like she was a crazed, possessed farmer. It was a bad comparison but once again it made sense in his mind and the only logical conclusion that he had for why she would want to jump back in was that water was clearly a vile and evil thing even though he had no sense of why a body of water could possibly be evil. Thinking quickly he tugged on her arm and began to shout at her. “Dwonald has your bow! Please don’t throw yourself into the evil body of water! It was hard enough dragging you out the first time. Dwonald does not approve of that water!” He pleaded hoping he would hear him or at least understand the gist of which he was trying to communicate. |

She was about to jump, when she looked down and saw her reflection in the water. There were circles under her eyes, and it seemed if she had gotten paler. She slowly put her arms down to her sides and took a small step away from the water. As she came to her senses, she realised how cold she was starting to feel. Water was not so good for her, and she knew she'd need to stand in a flame soon or she'd fall ill. She turned around, Dwonald standing there, her bow in his hands. She smiled, thinking herself a fool for nearly jumping in the water again. He had saved it. "Oh Downald good sir, I don't know how to thank you. You pulled me from the water, and saved my most precious bow! I don't know how I'll ever repay you!" She curtsied, then turned to face the water. It didn't look so friendly, though most water looked bad to her. She bent down, careful to steady herself with her hand so she wouldn't fall in again. Scooping some water up with her right hand, she studied it as it trickled through the gaps in her fingers. It was not a normal colour, and she couldn't believe that she'd allowed herself to fall into it; she should have been more careful. Straighting herself, she turned to face Dwonald again. "So what do you suppose is wrong with this water? Though, no offence to those who like it, I find it to be horrid anyway." |

He sighed with relief when she finally came to her senses and then offered to repay him, or said she might not ever be able to repay him. Something along those lines he though he wasn’t paying much attention to that detail. A curtsy, he smiled glad he had done something he considered to be good and just. She now wanted him to theorize why this water was so horrible. “It is likely tainted by some sort of arch demon! Or is just murky and not good for drinking because of wild life living in it.” He thought of it. He looked to her, she seemed…cold. “Dwonald…” The odd adolescent frowned. “You don’t seem well…” He removed his cloak for her. “You’re shivering.” He seemed more serious now than he had been before. He didn’t particularly want her to fall ill, it would cause many problems. Especially in this place. "We should find a way out of here soon." He nodded as if he expected her to approve immediately of his recommended action. |

She shook her head and looked down at her feet. "I'm sorry dear friend but I can't oblige. If I do not find a source of fire soon, I may very well become deathly sick." She flicked her wrist, trying to make a ball of fire in her hand. Her hand felt slightly warmer, but it was almost like the ball of fire itself had been doused with water. Frowning at her hand, she clenched her hand and re-opened it multiple times, yet nothing happened. "I do not think my usual powers will be able to light a fire. I will have to do this the old way. I will need to try and find some flint. If no flint is available, this will be tricky indeed." She felt something scratching in her chest, so she quickly whipped her hand out from under Dwonald's cloak to cover her mouth as she broke out in a coughing fit. She sank her knees to the ground and curled in a ball, trying to warm her chest up as much as possible. Lifting her head, she spoke in a horse whisper "Please help me Dwonald, I'm not ready to see my parents again." |

Dwonald frowned deeply. He wanted to help her, but how?! He thought for a moment. The quiver! The arrows must be magical! Usually they were in some shape or form. He immediately cleared a spot nearby. There wasn’t much so he had to rely on his knife to cut away excess brush near this river. It took three minutes. Dwonald then drew an arrow. He looked at it and frowned. It did not feel fiery so he drew another. This arrow seemed give off a slight warmth, it had a glow by the tip of the head. He shakily knocked the arrow and drew the string back. He took aim by the slightly clearing. Everything was tinder. “Dwonald took a class on this once. Dwonald recalls little of archery so Dwonald thinks he knows what he is doing.” He fired the arrow. SWOOOSH! And it missed its mark, barely hitting the edge of the circle. The area around it erupted in flame. Any brush immediately ignited in the somewhat contained area. Dwonald smiled with relief although he pondered how much this would spread, this wouldn’t be the first time he inadvertently burned down someone’s home, jungle or cabinet set. “Will this help?” He hoped the answer was obvious as he began to tend to the fire. |

She started to feel dizzy again, her vision blurring around the edges. It took all her strength to stay standing, and just when she was starting to feel that she could hold on no longer, a sudden warmth filled the surrounding air, giving her enough strength to open her eyes. Her eyes sought out the flame, and instinctively she walked forwards to the open fire. Shaking, she put a toe in the fire, like one might do to test the temperature of water. Almost instantaneously the shaking in her lower half stopped, and she felt warmer. As if she hungered for it, she rushed greedily into the centre of the fire, crossed her legs and sat. The fire tickled her skin, brining warmth and colour to her cheeks once more. It had been awhile since she had sat in a fire, and it felt good to feel energised once more. She closed her eyes and focused on the warmth of the flame filling her once more, but in doing so she had stopped paying attention to the fire itself, completely unawares to the fire's rapid growth. A hint of a smile played at the edge of her pink lips, her now good mood and better health making her feel better than she had in a long while. Felling much better, she opened her eyes to stand up, but stopped in her tracks. She new it wasn't her entirely her fault, but at the same time she felt responsible for what was happening. |

He starred at her, concerned unsure of if his efforts were futile or not. She managed to her feet and moved towards the flame. She stuck a toe in and Dwonald flailed about wildly. He was concerned of course. But then he stopped. She wasn’t in pain. Then she rushed towards the center and stood dumbfounded, perhaps impressed. Then two and two clicked together. Salamander…was she a fire spirit? He had heard of such things but knew little other than some general knowledge. He watched, curiously. He sat as well, crossed legged at the foot of the fire. Far enough away that he would not catch flame. Being flammable, one of his many weaknesses and he was sure everyone knew of it. He made a mental note to take care of this, sometime in the future. She seemed much better, a smile on her face. He smiled back just because she was smiling. “Feeling better? He could see she was but hearing it in detail would be much better. “If you are perhaps you can tell Dwonald about this new land Dwonald is in. You see, by some sort of evil wizard’s sinister plot! I am stuck in this place.” He scratched his chin. Perhaps it was a bad habit. He did it often, he knew that much and sometimes did not even think twice about doing it. Or once for that matter. “Don’t tell Dwonald this is some sort of odd jungle world. It would be quite upsetting to hear.” |

She stretched her arms like she would normally do as she woke up, feeling all the muscles in her back tense then relax again. "I do feel much better now. Thank you for asking dear Dwonald." She giggled at his theory, her smile showing small, white teeth. "Now dear sir, do you really have reason to believe that someone would have reason enough to do that to you? And it's not so much of a bad place to be stuck in. I've lived here all my life and have found very little reason to believe that there is anything to bad here." She walked over to her bow and quiver of arrows, throwing the strap of the quiver neatly over her shoulder while simultaneously strapping her bow scabbard to her waist. She gave a quick to on the straps to make sure they were all sitting tightly, then turned back to face Dwonald. "I can promise you that there is more to this land than just jungle. I have been to many great cities and towns, though I thoroughly enjoy living in the forests and jungles than your standard house. I grew up in a cabin in a forest, you see." She turned her head and stared at the fire, pushing her past to the back of her mind. "We should put this out before we move again. Seems a shame to extinguish it though." She said forlornly. She looked around for a way to snub out the fire, but found it hard to do so when everything around her was, well… flammable, excluding herself of course. "Well, we see to be in a bit of a sticky situation." |

Reason to believe? Dwonald knew quite well his foe would do anything to get rid of him. Even if it meant sending him to the most wonderful place in the world! Oh the cruel irony! But she insisted that it quite nice. He shrugged and nodded. But hazzah! This was not some jungle or forest world he was stranded on. But now there was another problem. Everything was flammable! He nodded. He could just douse it out when she’s done. “Hm…Dwon…ald.” He said aloud, his way of thinking. “Indeed! It seems we’re in quite the hot spot…meh. Dwonald does not care much. Just walk out. I’m sure nothing can possibly go horribly wrong.” He nodded and smiled reassuringly. Secretly he prayed there would be no second or third degree burn accidents. If there were hospitals in this land, they were not here. “I promise you that we will cross that bridge when we get to it. Hmm…do you happen to know the way out of your…lovely home?” This was her home technically right? But if so…he was implying he did not care about it. He frowned at the thought for a moment. |

"My home? Well, I do indeed know the way out of the forest, though I do not live her permanently. It is merely a place I enjoy coming too." She smiled at Dwonald, clapped her hands together, then ran to the nearest tree. She shivered into a salamander, using the grip she now had to easily climb to the top of the tree. Once she found a firm branch, she shivered back to her human form and peered over the other tree tops. She looked down at Dwonald, unable to make out his reaction to her sudden decision to climb a tree. "Well dear sir, it looks as if we are not too far from town. I think I can see buildings not too far off, so I imagine we'll be out of here within the hour!" She grinned at the thought. Maybe she'll be able to have a steaming cup of tea somewhere in town. She took a last look at her view from the treetop, then jumped precariously from branch to branch, until her feet were set firmly on the ground again. A sudden rush of happy adrenaline, Lana grabbed Dwonalds hand, and started marching south-east, towards the civilisation she saw. "Come on Dwonald. Today has been an adventure, and this is just the way to top it off!" |

As she ran she trailed fire for a bit but it did not spread far. Stomp! Stomp! Stomp it out! Gah! Why was it no-oh there we go! He sighed with relief. Easily disposed of fire. He grinned, happy that he had murdered the treacherous fire. He giggled and then noticed she had climbed a tree. HAZZAH! A town was in sight, an hour! Home! Wait…there was no home here. Civilization! He watched as she impressively leapt branch to branch to branch. Next thing he knew the young girl had taken his hand and began marching towards town. Dwonald didn’t budge at first, he was still processing all his joy! And only so much joy could be processed at once. Her hand was very warm to the touch, hot. Not quite scalding but uncomfortably hot. He grinned regardless. “Woo! We’ll sack that village and take their valuables! Adventure! Wait…no…I mean! Find an inn and sleep the day away after being dumped in the middle of this jungle!” He grinned, his joke was in no way serious. Sacking a town equipped like this was just plain silly and stupid. Especially since he had no desire to do such a wicked thing. With his destination in sight, things felt fine. Perhaps this would lead to another adventure. In time. |
