Mirix stretched out lazily, the wrinkled, white sheet rustling against the grass around him as he yawned and opened his eyes. It was now early evening, according to the low lying sun and reddish-orange tint it threw against the sky, and he could see the tiniest twinkling of stars just beyond it. Mirix was mildly surprised that he had slept for so long, last time he checked before falling asleep, it was just about midday. It had been an unusually warm morning for spring in Soto, and he had spent a lot of time just soaking up the sunshine and looking for something to do. Now though, the lakeside breeze drifting in kept him soothingly cool and made the area around him whisper with the sounds of nature. All about him were a myriad of different items. There were several bundles of clothing piled around the base of the closest tree, and a couple miscellaneous tools strewn about rather haphazardly. At the base of the sheet was a rather large basket, filled with various snacks, and to the side, a bit closer to the water was a half constructed campfire. None of these things actually belonged to him; his boots, shirt, gloves and gauntlets were placed rather neatly at the side of the sheet, left to dry after his time in the lake at only an arms length away. A small group of friends had claimed this picnic site first, and he only happened to stumble upon them while wandering. They hadn't noticed his presence at all, but the demon had picked up on them from a quite a while away. He had overheard them talking about various legends and beliefs regarding the lake and whether or not they should actually go swimming in it. Mirix had taken it upon himself to test this out and while the group had been distracted by their fun and games, he slipped underneath the water's surface with a practiced ease. Once they had gotten over their debate regarding the legends and dove in, he struck. The demon had picked off the visitors one by one, snatching them under the surface and mauling them beyond recognition, leaving only tinged water where they had vanished. It had been a game to him, and he would have let any who ran away escape, but much to his personal enjoyment, none did. Whether it was confused fear over what was happening, or just a desperate attempt to save their comrade from whatever was in the water, each had lingered just long enough to become his underwater chew toy. Once it was over and what was left of their mangled corpses sank or floated away, the demon had decided to nap, and what better place to do so than the already laid out picnic sheet. Now though, Mirix simply stretched once more, taking up the majority of the sheet with his movements. He couldn't yet decide whether he wanted to get up and move or just lie here a while longer. Perhaps some nyad perturbed by the violence within the water would take issue with him. At least then he'd have a reason to get up and do something. Edited by Mirix, Jun 23 2011, 04:57 PM.

With the setting of the sun the Drow felt more at ease, at least somewhat. The light of the day had always bothered him even in his previous body; actually it bothered him more in his last body. But that was neither here nor there, well it was there but that's not the point. The point of the matter is that with it being darker once more the Drow was more comfortable moving about. He was still at a loss to where he had ended up, he thought he knew but things were still a little fuzzy. Memories darted on the edge of his mind's eye and whenever he turned to look, so to speak, the image was gone and so too was the memory attached to it. Even though staying in the city would have been a safer course of action, the hustle and bustle even at this juncture of the day was not easing his mind any. In fact all the noise only seemed to fray his memories further. Thus the Drow had decided to go back out into the forest, where at least there would be quiet, perhaps too much quiet but it was better than too much noise. Once out into the woods away from the city the Drow pulled the cowl down from his head, letting his silver hair catch what little light it could from the stars. There truly was no reason to hide his identity, though he was still weary of what those in this world thought of Drow. But some part of his mind told him that it was not something he should concern himself over. He carefully picked his way through the forest, making sure to keep a mental account of his direction and any unusual foliage that could serve as landmarks when he returned to the city. The Drow had no destination in mind; he was just letting his frayed memories lead him. It was some time later before he came upon the lake his ears flicking slightly as he listened to his surroundings. It was peculiar as he started to notice a slight lack of wildlife activity in the area he had stumbled into. Slowly the Drow made his way around the lake's edge until he came to the picnic spot and the demon that now rested there. Wondering if that was the cause of the quite wildlife the Drow kept some distance for the moment though he did not hide his presence, he merely stood calmly near the water's edge. Careful red eyes studied the demon for some time before he cleared his throat to gain its attention. |

His eyes had closed again after having the thought about the nyad. His ears twitched idly as he began to once again drift away into dreamland. This was then suddenly interrupted however when he picked up on the appearance of another. Even though he didn't move, he smiled inwardly, thinking that perhaps his thought was answered and an angry nyad had come to confront him. Only when he heard the clearing of the person's throat did he physically respond. With a groan that seemed more appropriate coming from a tired teenager, rather than a demon of his caliber, he stirred. Mirix rolled onto his side, turning to face the direction where the sound had came from. The figure that caught his gaze was surprising indeed. They weren't at all what he was expecting, but not necessarily a disappointment either. "A Drow… Here..?" He questioned aloud lazily, eyes opening more from their previously tired and half-lid position. The silver-haired creature then pulled himself into a hunched over sitting position, pulling his legs to be sprawled in front of him, eyes staring at the new arrival blankly. The demon then yawned again, but shook his head immediately thereafter as he attempted to shrug off the tiredness of just waking up. "This is surprising… I didn't know your kind lived in this world." Without moving his head, his eyes surveyed the area, looking around for signs that others were around. "You here all by your lonesome?" The tiniest hint of a smirk began to play on his lips. |

The Drow tilted his head a little at the demon and his brow furrowed slightly at the first question. It was his first indication that perhaps it had not been the best idea to disturb the demon. However he continued to hold his ground merely standing by the water and watching the other with curiosity. The second comment to come out of the demon's mouth further worried the Drow. Just the use of the words 'this world' had his spine tingling slightly. Did he not belong here? Though he was almost certain he recalled seeing Drow in this world before he left, if this was even that same world. "That seems like a loaded question," remarked the drow shifting his weight to one side as he continued to watch the other, "you could use it to your advantage if I am. Although also it might make you pause as well, after all why would someone travel alone if they were not confident in their abilities to survive such creatures as yourself." |

It was easy to tell that the new arrival was wary of the demon having his attention focused on him. Logically this made perfect sense, especially with this particular demon. It was always difficult to try and figure out exactly what his intentions were. As the other spoke, Mirix appeared rather aloof. His own head tilted to the side, but only so that he could easily scratch at the back of one of his feline ears. "Ehhhh, don't worry too much about that, I'm not," he said dismissively. "I'm not going to do anything to harm you. Right now you're only thing keeping me from being bored to sleep." The demon was being as honest as possible at the moment, not that he really expected the Drow to just take his word for it. "Name's Mirix." He announced, once again stretching out his limbs. Mirix then motioned towards the basket of food on the blanket. "You hungry, stranger?" If he were really going to attempt to be pleasant and a good host, he might as well try and make the Drow feel more comfortable. "I'm sure the group who left this had some pretty tasty things… Feel free to check it out if you'd like." After that, Mirix simply continued to sit there. He didn't feel like getting dressed just yet, and though the male in front of him seemed fairly confident in himself, he also appeared a little skittish. As such, he didn't want to make any sudden movements. It would be such a shame to scare away a rare find like a Drow. |

The Drow peered more closely at the other, though his distance did make minute details hard to distinguish. Feline-like ears...an image floated into his mind of a being he once knew, but he shook it away knowing for a fact that this was not the same person, they were too short. The aloof nature of the other had the Drow worried slightly; he did not like being around someone so relaxed yet so obviously dangerous. "Yes of course, gods be damned you fall asleep due to sheer boredom," commented the Drow with just a hint of amusement to his voice. A slender silver brow was arched slightly at the demon's odd honesty and even more surprised was the Drow by the offering of a name. "I am Neriasis," he offered in compensation to the other. "No, thank you though," said the Drow smoothing the cloth that draped about his legs. Neriasis was not a huge eater and had already eaten at the inn he was staying at before he had left to go explore the surrounding forest. "I'm also almost certain that by 'left' you mean something completely different. But that would be me assuming and how terribly rude of me would that be?" The Drow moved a little bit closer to where the demon sat. Though the Drow did indeed give off an air of confidence the demon was correct in assuming there was some skittishness there as well. After all he wasn't sure where he was or even if he was on the world he assumed he was on. But by all the wills in the universe he certainly hoped it was. |

Mirix smirked at the other's words. Good, it seemed like the guy had at least some sense of humor. From what little bit of information he had on Drows, combined from the little interaction he had with them in the past, they generally seemed rather stoic and unemotional. Such traits were boring to him, and he hoped that this would not entirely be the case with the one in front of him now. When given the name of the Drow, he simply nodded. Neriasis… That was interesting sounding. Now all he needed to do was find out what this Neriasis was all about. He shrugged at the Drow's declining of the food. It didn't really matter to him, he just thought it would be 'nice' to at least try and not create unnecessary waste. The demon himself had no need or desire of what was in the basket. He could eat it if he wanted, but since his diet normally consisted of those like the ones who had packed it, it was extremely unlikely that there'd be anything there to entice him. Watching as the Drow moved closer, he snickered a little at the comment that was made. His grin widened before he reached up and smoothed his hands back through his hair. "If you're implying that I perhaps did something to them, I'm offended…" He replied, a clearly playful tone to his voice. "…Regardless of how right an assumption that is…" A small laugh escaped him then, before he averted his gaze to look at the lake. "So what bring you to this part of the forest, Nerasis? Were you drawn to the serenity of the lake, or are you just a wanderer?" |

The Drow made note of the other's reaction to his accusation. It was always a bad sign, at least to some, when a demon was quite cheery with their deeds. Then again Neriasis assumed that was the case with most demons. One that didn't show such enthusiasm might appear weak on the outside but often times ended up being far more dangerous than one would imagine. "I do not know if it was the serenity itself or something else," said the Drow looking over his shoulder briefly to glance at the glimmering water. Yes the water did seem familiar to him, he was certain now that he had been here before. So the night was turning around for the better, there was just the wondering of if this was the same time period that he had originally left. "I was just following the voices of the past," remarked the Drow as he turned his attention back to the demon. "And yourself? I assume it wasn't for a picnic, at least not a scheduled one." |

Mirix listened to Neriasis as he spoke, and flicked his gaze back to him as he looked out over the water. The Drow definitely seemed lost and forlorn, which was curious. Perhaps he would ask about it later. When it came to why he was here, the demon didn't have to think too hard about how to respond. "Mmmm… The heat of earlier drew me here, and the allure of having a soft blanket to dry out on rest kept me from leaving." Mirix neglected to mention that his desire to slaughter the previous owners of the site also helped with his desire to stay, but the Drow probably didn't need to know that information. "So, where are you from? And are there more of you there? I must admit that I find Drow's intriguing… If only because I haven't much experience with them." |

Neriasis shifted his weight over to his other foot now. There were no further forward movements towards the demon, the Drow seemed quite content with his current position. He drew his arms up to cross over his chest; the otherwise loose sleeves were bound at the wrists and just above the elbows with dark leather strips. Not once did the Drow's red gave leave the demon, was it confidence or merely paranoia that kept the Drow at rapt attention. "That is a difficult question to answer," said Neriasis with just a hint of a grin forming on his slender face, "If you mean where I am originally from, the answer is that of an island known as Menoko. But if you are wondering where my little Drow self just crawled out of, I would be hard pressed to give it a name that belongs of this world because as far as I know it does not. But there are indeed more Drow from that place." |

"Menoko?" Mirix repeated skeptically, tilting his head just a little to the side. "Never heard of it." Though Neriasis said that it would difficult to give the name of the place in common, Mirix would have been just as accepting of an answer in whatever language the Drow saw fit. He didn't know anything about the Drow language itself, other than that they had one, but if he knew the name, he could at least repeat it in the future. However, he didn't put this thought forth and instead just skipped to the one that came after. "Hmmm… So, if that's the case, where is it? I'd love to give a visit sometime." The tone in his voice was dangerous, and could perhaps be taken as a threat, but as was generally the case, so could everything else he said. What his exact intentions were however, were unknown. Mirix could be just as content with random peaceful interaction and observation as he could be with violent rampages. The demon then took notice of Neriasis' body language and the way he was being stared at. "You know, you can relax. You're in no more or less danger now than you were when you first gained my attention." His lips parted into a fang-filled grin then. "If you want me to tell you if I suddenly change my mind and decide that I want to kill you, I can." Mirix then clapped his hands together and laughed. "We could make a game of it! Like hide and seek! How does that sound?" He was joking, sort of. Just trying to make the man loosen up a bit, though was subconsciously aware that he was probably accomplishing the exact opposite. |

"That's not surprising," said the Drow lightly, "I don't recall very many knowing of the place before either." The Drow lifted a brow at the tone of voice the demon took on to ask where he might find the place that Neriasis had just come from. However the first response from the silver haired Drow was a laugh, before he tilted his head to the side and fixed the demon with a hard stare. "Unless you can rip a hole into the very fabric of time and space I doubt you will be going there anytime soon," commented Neriasis. Sure he could have been more tactful about where he had just come from, but why bother. He was still at a loss as to what was going on around him; and even if the demon was 'evil' there was still a chance of getting him to let slip things about this world that would help Neriasis in the end. "Then why relax if I am in no less danger?" asked the Drow his head lifting in an almost arrogant manner. He snorted slightly at the other's talk of making his intention of attacking into a game. "I had almost forgotten how your kind can sometimes behave; but as such if you claim that you would tell me I'd rather not take my chances with the unpredictable. Come back a couple hundred years ago and try that again, it might work." |

"Actually, that's not too far off from my skill set." He responded easily, his gaze moving upwards thoughtfully as he tapped a finger lightly against his chin. To be honest, Mirix himself did not actually have the ability to split time and space and move between dimensions. However, he did have access to items that could do that, not to mention if he ever wanted to get back to his own home, it wouldn't take much for his father to do the same and allow him passage to return. As such, it was kind of a curious thought that maybe there could be some way to utilize his resources to make a passage that wasn't just between this world and his home world. Either way, that was a thought for another time and place. His attention returned to the Drow once he took notice of the dismissive snort. Mirix just listened for a bit, but then laughed a little once Neriasis was finished. "Ah! A sense of humor! I'm glad you've got one." The demon wasn't phased by the others words and he spent no energy trying to determine whether or not what was said to him was intended to be an insult. "My kind eh? What run-ins have you had with demons before? I'm curious. What types of creatures were they?" Mirix then paused for a moment before vigorously shaking his head. "Scratch that, I don't really care…. What I do care about is helping you find out more about whatever it is that you came to this lake to discover. So, let's just stick to that. Sounds like an interesting adventure, I think. |

Neriasis raised a slight brow at the other, but he should have expected as much. There always seemed to be tricks up the sleeves of demons so it was not so strange that this one had a way to travel between dimensions. After all if he recalled most demons weren't usually from the plan of existence that he was used to. Of course that still didn't mean he was going to tell the demon the way to access the world he'd just left, not that he really would have been able to anyway. Because even he was not certain where it was that he had just popped out of, and to be honest he wasn't looking for a way to get back there or to even return on accident. The Drow would have answered the demon's question but then the other seemed to rethink the question. Not that Neriasis could recall exactly what he had encountered, just that the island he had been 'born' on was filled with all kinds of curious creatures; most of which were demons. "I do not know if it is so interesting," responded the Drow with a soft sigh, "After all it's just trying to remember things that happened in the past. Perhaps there is no reason to remember them at all. It doesn't seem to affect my functioning." |

"Oh?" Mirix looked at Neriasis with a disappointed expression. Did the Drow not find his own thoughts and feelings about himself and whatever was going on inside his head of any interest? "Strange.." He murmured, eyes going to look at the ocean. "I would have assumed that a person would think that finding out more about themselves to be of great fascination and concern… Especially if they were going to go through the trouble of following clues towards such ends." Mirix knew that if he were in the Drow's situation, he would likely take any offered help with enthusiasm. "Regardless of whether or not it had any true bearing on your present, I think I would want to find out about my past. Simply because it was unique to me and my experience…" He laughed, moving a clawed hand to slide back through his silvery hair. "But maybe I'm just a sensationalist." Mirix then shrugged and offered Neriasis a small smile. "Well, if you don't want to do investigate that, what would you like to do instead? Since we are in each other's company for a bit, might as well do something." |

"Well perhaps my past is boring?" the Drow said with a little shrug, "But I suppose that is one thing I would not know about just yet." It wasn't that he didn't want to know, he just wasn't sure the kind of help he needed to regain what he had lost. Perhaps he should take the offered help, but what would the demon be able to do? Then there was the concern of being seen in the presence of such a creature. His kind after all was not well received already, adding a demon to the mix would probably further soil that reception. The Drow brought a hand up to his head wincing slightly from a small spike of pain that seemed to have stemmed from the demon's words. However, exactly why that had happened he was not certain. Of course as he considered the words in more detail the Drow took a slight step back and even grimaced slightly. Neriasis shook his head slightly and cleared his throat, no need to get into any hasty conclusions. "That all depends on your ideas of something to do," he commented lightly. |

"Perhaps… Perhaps not… Who knows? The part that's exciting is finding out" He commented with a grin. Though Mirix may not always put that side of him to the front of his social interactions with others; like his brother, he too had a love of hunting for treasures. The difference though, was while his twin seemed more focused and enthralled by physical ones; he was more drawn to knowledge and lore, and things of legend. It was a curious thing, considering that most people would say that his desires were set mostly in destruction and not discovery. Mirix caught the wince, and wondered for a minute what caused it. The man did not appear injured, and his arm seemed to be working fine moments ago… Maybe it was just a facial twitch. Or maybe the guy was simply really frail and falling apart. That could be interesting too… Though the Drow would need to be extra careful to try and not appear as an injured creature in his presence. The demon was predatory by nature, so any sign that made the male look weak, also made him look like dinner. "Would you like to search for nyads?" He asked, nodding towards the lake as he did so. "Supposedly they live in the water and don't like trespassers, but… I dunno, I haven't seen any." Mirix then shrugged a little. "Could be fun though, we might end up lucky." |

Neriasis shrugged a little. Sadly the Drow did not seem as enthused by the prospect as trying to unravel his past. Sure he might have wanted to know more about the world he was returning to. After all he'd been searching for a way back to it for years, at least years for him, he was not sure truly how long it had been for the world he had left. For all he knew he had been gone for mere seconds. "I am not sure what a Nyad is," remarked the Drow raising his brow slightly. Though he might not have remembered much about this world he was fairly certain he remembered most of the races he had met. The word Nyad eluded him, he knew what a Dryad was and the pronunciation seemed similar so maybe it was just a water dwelling version. One delicate ear flicked a moment as he turned his head to peer out across the waters once more. There was always a bit of unnecessary trouble to be had in poking at spirit like creatures. Though he was a little curious now to see what said Nyads looked like. "Perhaps..." |

When the other shrugged, Mirix followed suit, tilting his head slightly to the side as he let the idea wash away from him. If the Drow himself wasn't that interested in discovering his past, why in the world would he volunteer himself to be the one to push it? After all, Mirix didn't really care about it one way or the other, it had nothing to do with him and no reward had been offered, so 'eh'. The demon gave a light laugh in response to the Drow's words of not knowing what a Naiad was. "Neither am I!" He exclaimed pleasantly, grinning suddenly. "But we can find out, together." Mirix nodded in affirmation of his own suggestion. He too, had no idea what the supposed inhabitants of the lake were supposed to be or look like or anything; never had he run into one of them in his travels before. However, the demon simply loved to meet new creatures, though it was never for the simple discovery or the pleasantry of just that. As his Drow companion then looked out over the water, Mirix got to his feet and began to make his way towards the lake edge. "Don't be shy now, let's go. There isn't much else here to do anyway, and at least this will be a bit of fun." |
