His head was bent low over the exposed throat of a young female victim. His quarry was not a child; that is, she was beyond puberty but not yet fully grown to adulthood. Sad to say, her chances of ever doing so were becoming increasingly slim. The demon hunched over her was lean and muscular, much broader in the shoulder than his slender meal ticket. A cascade of silver hair, tips dipped in crimson poured down his nape like oil. Through the darkness, sharp eyes closed briefly as the rush of blood from his victim's neck wound slowed. Gradually, the young woman in his loose embrace began to lose her battle with mortality. The girl hung limp and unresisting in his arms; not yet dead, but death would not be long in coming for her. From time to time, a slow shudder wracked her cold, thin body. The night air, rising fresh and slightly salty from the bay, stirred her auburn curls and her sightless eyes sought out stars obliterated by the thickness of the evening fog. Beside a large merchant barge, where its inky shadow fell across the lonely boardwalk, she would breathe her last. The demon knelt over her, lapping rapidly and efficiently at the cruel gash that had opened up her throat like a second mouth. Without lifting his head, he shredded what was left of her once beautiful dress and undergarments, destroying that last shred of her dignity. Single-mindedly he continued to run his searching tongue to and fro within the bloody slash, holding the youngster in his arms and across his knees as gently as a suitor with his lover. The pool of blood that spread out around him, slipped between wooden planks and merged with the bay beneath the boardwalk, all turned to mercury by the light of a moon that was not quite full. It soaked into the knees of the demon's well-worn black pants as the scent filled his nostrils, almost euphoric, and his mouth watered, invaded by the rich, ferrous flavor of warmth and life. He touched his mouth to cold, gasping lips and inhaled deeply as the last desperate spasm of agony wracked the child's fragile body. Unseen by the eyes of mortals, but felt by those in tuned with the beyond, the girl's recently soiled soul was devoured by him. When it was finally over, he pulled away and licked his lips, carelessly discarding the youngster into the bay's lapping waves. Rising steadily to his feet, the creature stretched its neck, and looked to the sky with brief sigh of contentment. Then, he simply turned and strode back along the boardwalk towards the rest of town, followed by the lingering traces of sex, blood, and the dwindling aura of his quarry. |

Unknown to Mirix, he was not alone with the girl. Just before the girl's life was cut short, a quick, short scream pierced the night, cut short by the slashing of her throat. However, the shout disturbed no one... except for Jabari. Groggily, the black-skinned man rose to his feet, and quietly made his way to the source of the noise, probably against his better judgement. And he could not believe what he saw. Knelt over the body of the girl who had woken him from his slumber was some sort of... demon. He lapped at the bloody gash in her neck and tore her clothes from her body, hungrily focused on his victim, so much so that he did not know he had company. As for Jabari... he did not know what to do. He had never seen anything like this in his life... And he had seen some things in his life. Finally the demon knelt down and... kissed her? No, it seemed much more malicious than that. Or perhaps that was simply the context of his previous actions. Now the demon was finished, and began to walk away from his quarry. It was only another moment until Jabari would inevitably be discovered. He decided he might as well make the first move. The half-elf stepped out from behind the post into the moonlight, trying to look as casual as possible. "Strange night, isn't it? You should be careful... There's some really fucked up shit going on out here." |

As Mirix wandered, he was totally oblivious to the appearance of others within thee area. His mind was elsewhere, swimming in a flood of endorphins triggered by the combination of gore and fear. The girl he had convinced to come with him had been a good source of the essence he desired to consume; her innocence and age being what drew him to her. Now though, he was thoroughly pleased and with no real thought or idea as to what he was planning on doing next. When the dark form of another stepped out from the shadows, the demon was completely oblivious. "Uh huh…" He agreed dreamily, hearing what was said of him, but not actually registering them while stuck in his reverie. It was only after the words had come from his mouth did he stop and blink, bringing himself back to reality. His light colored eyes held with them a silver glow as he slid them over to the one who spoke. The creature took a quick moment to size the male up, very slight muscle movements in his face causing his previously pleasant looking face to take on a much more malicious façade. "Fucked up shit ya say? Heh, that sounds right up my alley." He whispered huskily, the points of his still bloodied eyeteeth quite visible in the moonlight. The demon didn't immediately take any violent action after that, instead appearing to be quite calm and nonchalant. His clawed hands stretched above his head and he rode the pleasurable sensations in his extended muscles with a low purr. "And what of you, Friend?" He asked, narrowing his gaze. "Do you always like to watch, or was this your first time?" |

The demon's first reply didn't surprise the half-elf at all. Of course he was into some messed up things. Look at what he'd just seen! The second reply surprised him a bit more though: That thing knew. Was he going to share the same fate? Or, did the monster have other plans for him? Not that he had much to be worried about. Sure, it had slain a small defenseless girl easily... But that wasn't Jabari. He was neither small, nor defenseless... And the demon hadn't seen anything yet. What did he really have to be afraid of? "No, I don't usually like to watch shit like that. But it was so disgusting, I just couldn't look away." Was he actually insinuating that Jabari had enjoyed that? No way. That was sick. He wasn't like that. ...Was he? He had done some pretty cruel things before. Nothing like that, but his recent treatment of that nun, Helene came to mind... Was he really that much different? Of course he was. He didn't kill anyone, unless they had it coming. "What was that last thing you did to her? What the hell even areyou?" |

Mirix watched the other's face intensely before receiving a reply. There was something curious about this person that led the demon to neither want to immediately kill them, nor completely ignore them. He could see something of use inside this person already. All that had to be done at this point was to explore that and make sure he wasn't just seeing things. "Usually?" Mirix flashed a fang-filled smile then, playfully twisting the others words and meaning. "So you do like to watch ever now and then… It's nothing to be ashamed of really." He shrugged nonchalantly, not really thinking anything much of his actions. He was still staring intensely at the male in front of him though, and something was telling the demon that the man was second guessing himself about what he had said. "Last thing..?" He repeated questioningly, cocking his head slightly to the side as he redid all of his actions in his head to mentally see what it was that was being spoken of. "Uh… Hm." Mirix paused when he figured what was being spoken of and merely passed over giving an explanation of his actions. "Don't you worry about that. We've only just met! No need to be so forward…" The demon then breathed out a small sigh and easily slid a clawed hand back through his silver and red-tipped hair. "My name is Mirix," he began with a small laugh, "and what I am, is trouble…" |

"What?! No, that's not what I meant!" The half-elf then realized that getting worked up like that would be what this creature wanted. He was deliberately poking at him with his words, and he was giving in. He couldn't keep getting worked up like this... It still came out sometimes when he did... But was that really such a bad thing in this case? Whatever this guy was, he seemed to be pretty evil, and would it really be much of a loss if Jabari transformed and ripped him apart in a blind rage? Probably not... Unless he couldn't. He had encountered so many people with abilities he had never thought possible since he had come to this land... This guy was likely to be another one of them. Would the dragonized form inside of him really be able to take him? Or would it be torn apart instead by this demon? Finally the creature broke his train of thought about this, and the rage began to subside into a mix of wariness and annoyance at the demon's attitude. Mirix. Interesting name. "Trouble? Yeah, I can see that... Question is, how much trouble are you going to be?" Was he next? Was the demon just toying with him in preparation for ripping open his throat with one of those long, clawed fingers next? He pushed the suspicion off his face. Showing fear would only provoke him more. Maybe he should simply... fight fire with fire. "I'm Jabari. And I can be pretty good at that trouble thing myself." |

The demon giggled in a strangely pleasant manner in response to the other's outburst, smiling slightly and shaking his head. "Lighten up my friend. As I'm sure the past few minutes have taught you, life's too short to be riled up by every little thing. One second you're here, and then splash, you're not." Mirix had no qualms with imparting these assumed and fairly dark words of wisdom on the man. Mainly because he highly doubted the male would heed them, which was a good thing since what the demon found most amusing about him was his current attitude. As to how much trouble Mirix could be… He did not say, instead only smiling knowingly and keeping it to himself. Mirix didn't want to be the focus at the moment; he already had his playtime, and good manners told him it was best to take turns. The demon had no real intention of causing physical harm to the man; if he did, it would've been done by now. In fact, he wasn't sure what he wanted, but if the guy in front of him could be coaxed into some excitement and interesting interaction, why not go for it? "Then what are we waiting for?!" He exclaimed excitedly, throwing his hands into the air dramatically once he heard that Jabari enjoyed trouble as well. "Come, come!" He approached the other, eyes alight with a new kind of enthusiasm. Mirix ushered and then led the half-elf towards the village, the inn specifically, his arm wrapping about the man's shoulders as if they'd been friends forever. "The whole world is our oyster, this village just an appetizer." He explained whilst gesturing to the world at large. "Let's see what kind of mischief you can pull off. Are you a violent man, Jabari? Perhaps a bar fight would be right up your alley…" Mirix then snickered as he led the two of them to a stop in front of the building. "Or perhaps your vice is lust? Heh. Tell me what you're into and we can make a game of it. It'll be fun." |

Jabari couldn't believe where this had taken him. He had been disgusted with the demon. He still was. But the confrontation had changed into a more casual conversation... And now all of a sudden they were about to go places together. What happened? Why in the world was he doing this? And what should he do? Any other time he would have gone with lust, but after seeing Mirix's treatment of the last girl, he didn't want to put another in his path so easily. He wasn't a killer, after all. "I feel like taking some anger out... So I guess fighting it is." It was true, he'd found himself wanting to dragonize and let the demon have it several times during the conversation. He wasn't sure what it was that kept him from doing so, but, now he was curious. Curious to see where Mirix would lead him. Curious to see where the night would take them. With that, he pushed open the bar door to which Mirix had taken him, and stepping inside. The place was packed with people, torches and gaslights illuminating the room brightly, the pale oak looking even brighter in the warm glow of the torches and lamps. "So, what game do you have for this, hm?" |

If the male was worried about putting others in the demon's path, he was in luck. Since Mirix had found him, and since he had put up no real resistance to the demon's suggestions, the spotlight was now on him. Mirix already knew what danger he was and trouble he could get himself into. What he was curious about checking out and exploring was what this Jabari kid could do. He wanted to try and push the male's limits; to see just how far he would go to get a kick out of life, and whether or not he'd enjoyed it. "Ah, yeah, wrath. That's a cool one. Not truly my style, but we can make it work." Mirix chuckled. Some would call it ironic, but out of all the sins, wrath was perhaps one of the least descriptive of his beings. He wasn't one to easily get enraged. Hell, he wasn't one to even get angry. Mirix passed the other once they were inside, completely ignoring the other patrons within the establishment. There were no tables readily available, so he just led Jabari to the opposite side of the room. He stopped to lean against a support beam and crossed his arms over his chest, a smirk playing upon his features in response to the question posed at him. "Hey you!" He suddenly called to a rather large looking bald man at the table closest to them, kicking the back of the chair with just enough force to get the man's attention. The man was flanked at either side of the table by two others; the three of them engaged in a game of cards over ales. With a snarling rumble of a voice, the red-faced man turned around in the creaking chair. "Whar do ya want?" His tiny eyes, bloodshot from a good while of drinking and lack of sleep glared at the demon from under large, brown brows. With a smug looking grin on his face, Mirix nodded at Jabari. "My friend here says to get you, and your mangy, fleabag, swag-bellied, logger-headed group out of his seats and the fuck out of his bar." The words were followed with a slightly more powerful kick of the chair, enough to make it visibly bounce with the burly one still sitting in it. After that, it didn't take much imagination to guess what happened next. The man's chair was haughtily tossed to the side as he raged to his feet and swung a heavy hand to the demon's face. With a practiced fluidity, Mirix dodged it, rolling to the side and seeming to disappear behind the pillar he was leaned upon. Not more than a moment later and he was immediately behind Jabari and perhaps a bit too close for the man's comfort. "Showtime," the demon whispered into his ear before giving Jabari a hard shove to send him smashing hard into the angry bear of a man. |

Jabari quickly found his answer from the demon, as Mirix proceeded to find the largest, roughest-looking man in immediate eyeshot and provoke him kicking his chair and demanding he and his friends leave, before quickly dodging behind Jabari and shoving him into the man. Well, that hadn't taken long. Now all that was left to fight like his life depended on it. Because against big guys like these, it most likely did. Almost immediately the man whom Jabari had been shoved into moved to throw a punch at him. A big, hard, furious punch. Luckily for Jabari though, he had been taught how to deal with this kind of thing. He grabbed the mans wrist, and in a move so quick that one couldn't even interpret what he had done, had him kneeling over and screaming in pain. Hey! Not bad! Oh wait. That guy had friends. Jabari was painfully reminded of this fact as another of their fists flew into the corner of his vision and clocked him upside the head. Ow. That was not how this was supposed to go. Hey, another one! That hurt too! Okay, it was time to get serious. Jabari took the man who he currently had at his mercy and swung him into one of the others a shorter and stockier man with a shaved head as well, then flinging the first man aside as he prepared to deal with the other one, who had picked up a chair and was brandishing it as a weapon. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the other two stand up and start heading for him again. With all three big angry men headed for him simultaneously, ready for blood, he couldn't help but wonder what Mirix planned on doing during all this. |

Sit down, shut up, and enjoy the show. That was what Mirix planned on doing, and there was little in the way of stopping him from doing that. Of course, at first, one of his original target's friends had gotten up to attack the demon too, but it didn't take too much effort to convince him from actually embarking on such an endeavor. With a slow tilting of his head, a crazed fang-filled grin, sinister glint of the eye and a casual showy extension of those vicious crimson claws, the burly man quickly re-evaluated the situation at hand. In the end he decided against going up against the one who had actually started this mess and instead turned his attention back to the not quite overwhelmed Jabari. This of course caused Mirix much amusement and he laughed a bit to himself, retracting his claws and moving to find a good spot to watch the brawl. He then moved to an unoccupied table as the tavern quickly filled with empty space as those who had no interest in fighting got out of the way. Pulling a chair from it, he spun it around and straddled it, folding and resting his arms against the back of it. "You're doing good, kid, keep it up!" He shouted to the fighter with a chuckle. Little did Jabari know was that Mirix was mentally timing this entire event. While Mirix didn't want to have to step in, if Jabari proved to be too slow, he'd guess he'd have no choice but to show him how to end a bar fight as quickly, and as bloodily as possible. |

"You're doing good kid, keep it up!" He heard the demon's exclamations over the din of the bar fight, not having time to answer as the men all closed in on him again. A fist came out of the haze of the smoky room, and his fingers wrapped around the wrist, hurling its owner over his shoulder into another one of the men. Seriously? Were these guys that dumb, to keep falling for that? ... Ow. Again, a fist came out of nowhere and clocked him in the head. Apparently, his opponents weren't the only ones who could fall for the same trick over and over. And another, and another. It wasn't long at all before he found himself on the ground, suddenly overwhelmed by the onslaught. Pain shot through his body as he was pummeled by hands and feet all around him. But the half-elf wasn't going to go down this easily. There was a flash of blue light and then a giant sweeping arm, covered in a heavy layer of sapphire, tossed the whole crowd of them aside as Jabari climbed to his feet. He was no taller than before, but much bulkier, mainly attributed to either an incredible increase in muscle mass or the sapphiric armor plating that covered the majority of his body, all except the front of his torso and his head. It came off his back in massive flume-like shapes, as though water had been spouting vigorously and turned to stone before it had had the chance to go far. The men all stood back and stared at him before the largest, with his head entirely shaved, charged towards the dragonized man, preparing to land another blow on him. Alas, he never reached him, as Jabari's stone fingers closed over his face and hurled him away, smashing into the wall at top speeds. "Any more takers?" |

Mirix watched the fight with genuine enthusiasm. At first it seemed like the kid was doing pretty well for himself. He was obviously strong; strong enough to hurl one of his attackers over his shoulder, but strength alone usually wasn't enough to win a tavern brawl. One also needed endurance. Endurance was key, actually, as generally everyone involved in a tavern fight could be described as strong. Mirix's new 'friend' however, would find that his test of endurance was coming up quite fast as well. As the flurry of punches came out of nowhere and struck his companion, Mirix couldn't help but feel the corners of his lips perk upwards with each and every blow. If a person were paying attention to him, they would probably wonder whose side of the fight he was on, as it appeared as though he was taking just as much pleasure in seeing his friend getting pummeled as he was in seeing his friend doing the pummeling. The silver haired demon sighed deeply once it appeared that Jabari had lost; what else was he to think when there was a group of men surrounding him both kicking and punching? Mirix had just swiped a clawed hand back through his hair and was about to stand and finish the group off himself, when suddenly a flash of light erupted from the group. With a surprised look on his face, the male watched, tilting his head to the side to narrowly avoid a thrown body which nearly took his head off. "Ooooo…" Mirix cooed, pleased at the sight of his companion, now transformed, who stood in the center of the room. "Didn't know you could do that. Not bad." He commented, sounding pleased. His light colored flashed then as the bald aggressor sped towards the half-elf, only to be easily repelled and smashed against a wall. When Jabari asked if any of the others wanted to test their luck, a heavy feeling of hesitation fell over the crowd. Sensing this, Mirix chimed in, standing up from his chair. "Come on then! Don't be pussies! Get 'em!" The baiting seemed to work wonders and just then, the rest of the men, eager now to prove their manhood against this dangerous enemy, rushed towards Jabari amidst roars of aggression. |
