SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

And then she was gone, her hips swinging as the knives jostled her thighs, passing by guards with her head held high, a haughty smile upon her lips.

The state of Morrim has been detailed in its Lore article, however, to sum up current events and to make this process faster, this is currently what state the nation is in:

    Quote:

Empress Isra Amiel is dead - or presumed to be, as the case may be. Neither her advisers nor her people have seen her in over six months, and hope has been lost. Even the Emperor who had taken her place, Andromalius, has suddenly abdicated, leaving the throne without a monarch or an heir. As such, rebel factions composed primarily of serfs and peasants within the country are taking the opportunity to voice their dislike for the current regime and are endeavouring to enact swift change: they want to implement a democracy, or some sort of system that places more power into the hands of the people, and, in the grand scheme, remove the feudalism that permeates society. The nobility have their own ideas, however.

Morrim's feudal lords, having lost their king and are thus no longer subject to being his vassals, are currently trying to seize power for themselves. Hoping to create an oligarchy - rule by the best people, the elite - they are petitioning the late Empress's advisors in the hopes of swaying their decisions. They, like the rebels, seem to be turning reactionary, on the verge of summoning their own vassals in order to storm Kinaldi. No action has been taken as of yet, but there is talk, and rumours are flying.

The state of the nation's financial affairs is also looking grim. With the reign of Andromalius came the marauding of the various cities, towns, and villages surrounding Kinaldi and Orl'Kabbar, destroying nearly everything. The countryside has been ravaged, most human establishments are barren and poor, and starvation and disease are running rampant. Since the banshee appeared and took the Empress's mantle, Morrim has also experienced an unprecedented rate of decay nationwide, with rivers and streams becoming polluted, and farms and grazing land rotting away to nothingness - nature itself is beginning to wither. And nobody knows why.

Rumours are circulating that a small culture is beginning to form around the Black Tower, Andromalius' former stronghold, and could one day develop into a city of its own.

Due to the current situation - famine, increased mortality rates, the beginnings of a violent and bloody civil war, dissent, and financial bankruptcy - patrols are currently walking the borders of Morrim, keeping those who are in the country in, and those who aren't out. Nobody leaves, and nobody comes in. Morrim is in a state of perfect isolation.

With that being said, since Morrim is in the most deplorable state at the moment, it would be most fitting that all forum-wide plots focus primarily on it at the moment. To sum things up simply, Morrim is facing:
    • Civil war. Some want the monarchy, some want an oligarchy, the rest want a democracy. Arms have not been taken up yet, but it's only a matter of time.
    • Bankruptcy. Morrim literally has no money at the moment, due to crop failures, unexplained pollution, and the money that was spent to keep the army functional while Andromalius was in power.
    • Suffering. Famine and disease are running rampant.
    • Isolation. People cannot enter or leave the country at the moment.
    • Suspicion. Ashoka and Soto especially are extremely wary, due to Morrim having declared war on them both (indirectly) throughout Andi's reign.

This is where you guys come in. I would like to create a permission mask that enables people to only post in Morrim. This would be done based on which characters you nominate, and I would apply the mask to their accounts. So, you would only be able to create threads in Morrim, although you would be able to reply to anything before this plot, but would not be able to make new threads outside of Morrim, or participate in them. This would only be temporary, until border patrols are slackened, at which point some accounts would return to normal masks, while the rest will do so gradually. There is a catch for certain characters, however: if your character is a shapeshifter or an animagus there is a possibility that they could come and go as they please. Some transformations would be extremely suspicious (a guard would notice a unicorn leaving, for example), while others not so much (a hawk, for example). The plot lines your characters could and are invited to follow are as such:
    • Engagement with the civil war.
    • Discovering where/why the earth is decaying so badly.
    • Finding a new Emperor/Empress.
    • Disease and how to cure it.

More, of course, can be created, and you'll have all the freedom you desire, with the staff and I tossing little tidbits (for example, a rumour of what might be causing the decay) out periodically - say, once a week, or once every two weeks. An official announcement thread would be created for the purpose.

For those who don't want to be posting in Morrim for the next while, Ashoka is currently being ruled by Orion, who is as liable to remain King as he is to disappear randomly, so there is an opening for the King/Moghul position, should someone desire it. Soto and Angkar are fairly normal, however, despite the extreme decay and the natural disasters in Soto, which are definitely linked to Morrim's problems (so for all you Sotoan's out there, there's a plot entry point). And, of course, we can't forget that Andromalius just abdicated suddenly and is off hiding somewhere. Who wouldn't want to hunt him down right now?

Post here if you'd like to sign your character up for time in Morrim, and I will change your permission mask. If you, the members, would like to start a rumours thread, about things your character may have heard, by all means go ahead - this plot is as much about the forum's individual members as it is collectively. The more the merrier, and I would love to utilize any ideas you guys may come up with.

Liron's too attached to Soto to want to spend oodles of time in Morrim, but he'll definitely be following up on the natural disaster/decay stuffs. =)

    ...unexplained pollution,...

As part of Andi's reign, he invented cars. People don't ride around in them, they just turn them on to listen to the engine and pollute the air. It's fun. Sorta. *revrev*

Okay. Done joking. XD Vincent would like to remain stuck in his homeland, Morrim. =3 'cause... he's like... noble and such.

She'll be able to get in and out, but they'll try and shoot her down and/or kill her. It'd be the same if a dragon tried to fly out, or a phoenix. Anything out of the ordinary will be attacked.

That really only applies to regular citizens. Sovereigns would be allowed to come and go as needed; I was actually going to mention to you that you might want to be involved, especially when it comes to the whole Morrim-lacks-an-empress thing.

I think I'd like to sign up Shara for this. That is, assuming that she gets a chance to return once she hears that Andi is gone... Then again, even if border patrols stopped her, she might try and find a mage to teleport her in...

EDIT: Oh, also, Estressa is in Morrim, she needs something to do, and I can well see her trying to manipulate the whole situation somehow to put it in her favor. She has teleportation, as well as shapeshifting to disguise herself, so it might still be possible for her to leave if she feels like it.

    Quick question...
Coincidentally, I’ve been in the process of creating an assassin. I’d love to throw him in the mix, so is there anyone with a character who may have a purpose for an assassin in this plot? I’d LOVE to find a character seeking an assassin to search for and attempt to kill Andromalius. Your characters’ reasoning is his/her own, my character won’t care and probably won’t ask. Anyone interested? And, is this even possible, or should I keep my character out of it?

I'm sure someone could find a use for an assassin somewhere along the line. Razarod, King of Angkar, will be involved with Morrim and such, so if you feel like trying to kill off a good guy... I'm sure we could fashion a plot out of that, too. The plot is in part run by you guys and what you do. =)

Just a note: Those who do not want their characters in Morrim will still have their characters locked out of Morrim, so you'll only have Soto, Ashoka, and Angkar as your playing fields. Do keep that in mind. =)

Likewise, teleporters will be able to come and go as well, provided they can teleport a far enough distance away.
