((Continued from Unknown Pool)) After Nicolet had got onto Drake's back, he flew into the air, up into the sky. Flying like this was always exhilarating, feeling the cool air flow along his scales... Even with someone on his back, it was still just as amazing. Perhaps even more so, sharing the experience with someone. If Nicolet was paying attention, she'd probably notice that Drake wasn't actually using his wings to fly. Sometimes he would flap anyway for some unknown reason, but normally it was kind of like... Floating, at high speed. As if by magic... Which probably was the case. It didn't take long at all at the speed of Drake's flight for Madrid to come into view. Drake thought for a moment about landing right in the city while in dragon form, with Nicolet still on his back, but he decided not to. Maybe next time though... Drake landed about fifty feet away from the city. As he laid down on the ground to let Nicolet off, he asked, So, what did you think? Did you enjoy flying? |

Nicolet held on as they lifted off the ground. The feel of flight wasn't foreign to her. Though this was completely different. The wind pulled at her hair, ruffling it as it would have her feathers. Her arms helped stabilize her but didn't have to work like wings to keep her a drift the winds. Her eye's stung from the speed of wind that hit them, and tears streamed down her cheeks but, she couldn't help the smile. It was something she hadn't done before, at least not that she could remember. Though it was a memory she intended to suck every ounce of joy out of. Even as she realized the time it took to fly by dragon, was about half the time it would have taken her in her raven form. She had been to busy enjoying the experience to notice anything else. Till they landed just outside of the city. She slid off his back, still smiling brightly. After all it had been a great ride. “So, what did you think? Did you enjoy flying?” He asked. “It was absolutely amazing!” She responded even as she wiped at her cheeks to remove the tears that had streaked them. Nicolet wasn't lying she had enjoyed the ride a great deal. Probably more so then she would ever admit to anyone. Though there was no harm in giving him a bit of pride. From what she could tell he'd needed the emotional boost. After all wounds that bleed aren't healed. That takes time, and care. She thought spinning on her heal as she looked towards the town. “While I wouldn't mind walking in with a dragon. I'm not so sure the towns people would find it as acceptable as I do.” Nicolet offered the gentle reminder. After all they'd come for music. Not to shock the towns people. Though she had nothing against watching the flee in horror, or faint in shock. Still, that wouldn't help the boy, find some peace in the lonely night. |

Glad you liked it~ Drake responded when she said that it had been amazing. And indeed, he was. He was glad that he was able to share an experience he enjoyed, and the one who he was sharing it enjoyed it as well. Then she mentioned that the townspeople probably wouldn't appreciate seeing a dragon come into the town. Drake laughed, Why do you think I didn't land inside the town? He then shifted into his human form, with the normal flash of light accompanying this transformation. "Well, let's go on in." he said, as he began walking toward the gates of the city. Once inside, Drake glanced around, "So, where to look for music?" he wondered aloud. Almost as soon as he'd said that, he heard the sound of a piano playing from inside a nearby house. The song was one of the most beautiful things he'd ever heard, if not THE most beautiful. Drake simply stood there, listening, barely able to believe his ears. He honestly wasn't sure just how anything could be as beautiful as those clear notes ringing through the moonlit night... |

Nicolet was happy that he seemed to have transformed with the short distance they had traveled. Even to the point of laughing at her as he pointed out that he hadn't bothered to land in town for the vary reason of transforming. “Well, let's go find it.” He said as she watched him being walking towards the gates of the city. For a moment she stood there remembering, his words of sorrow and pain, while they looked on the pool. Now he was a different person. The sorrow and pain were still there, only now he had a bandage over the wound. She followed him, for no particular reason. After all she really didn't have anything better to do then to watch as he made the discovery for himself. “So where to look for music?” He mused aloud. Even as she heard a song coming from some where nearby. She watched as he turned his head one way then another. She realized he'd heard it as well, and was in the process of locating the sound. She stood silently just behind him, as he listened. Nicolet tuned in listening as well. The melody was sweet and lilting. The notes resonated clear and precise. Though she couldn't name the instrument. Even if she had heard such an instrument before she doubted she could name it. “You should seek it out every chance you get.” She said softly, not wanting to intrude on his enjoyment. Knowing well enough that it brought him a sense of peace and wellness he would not find in her company. |

Drake heard Nicolet speak, "You should seek it out every chance you get." He didn't respond, only listened to the music. But perhaps... Perhaps he should listen to music whenever he got the chance. After all... Even small things like this could make a world of difference. Listening to this music, he felt so calm, somewhat at peace. His mind drifted slightly, into somewhat troubling thoughts, as they always did, and the music wouldn't change that. However... He found that as long as he kept listening to this song, he would feel at peace regardless. And finally, it ended. The beauty faded. And yet... It didn't stay that way. He soon heard another song playing. It was a bit faster than the previous one, but still quite beautiful, and somewhat uplifting. Once it ended, he realized that he had a smile of contentment on his face. Drake decided to sit down and listen until whoever was playing stopped. Yet another song played, and Drake listened, his attention staying on it. This one was faster than either of the ones before it, and he wasn't quite sure what to think of it. It wasn't nearly as calming as the first one, nor as uplifting as the second, nor did it seem like "happy" would be a good term for it but it certainly wasn't one that would invoke sadness. However, it was still quite beautiful, and he enjoyed listening to it. Eventually, the song slowed down... No, it was transitioning into another song, a bit similar, but slower. After several seconds of this song, Drake was surprised to hear an almost angelic voice come in and sing along with it in a language he didn't recognize. It wasn't coming from inside the house with the piano however... When Drake looked toward the source of the voice, he saw a girl with golden hair standing in the street, obviously the one singing. She actually did have white wings, so she looked like an angel in addition to sounding like one. Eventually, the piano playing, and the singing ended. Neither resumed, and the singer simply stood there. Drake stood up, and said to her, "You have a beautiful voice." The girl appeared startled as she looked toward him, "Er... Thank you." she responded. Edited by Drake Aurelis, Nov 4 2009, 12:30 PM.

Nicolet watched as he became more and more transfixed by the music. Taking care to step back carefully and quietly as to go unnoticed she moved into an ally formed by the houses. Willing herself into a more friendly shape, one that couldn't and wouldn't intrude. Though even as she did so, she began to notice smells and sounds. Her fur ruffled and ears twitched, her muzzle led her back out onto the street, even as she padded on soft paws. Smelling the girl before she arrived watching her young companion. At first she wasn't certain what the girls intentions were. Till she opened her mouth and started to sing. The sound was soft, sweet and coiling. Almost visible in the night air. The language the girl used seemed to hum and vibrate the air around them. Causing Nicolet to move a little closer to Drake. An animal would be better for him now. Besides, no advice she could give could heal him. Though maybe the girls voice could. She thought, even as he took notice of the young woman. |

Drake and the girl looked at each other for a moment more, until finally she just said, "Well, I think I'll be going now. Goodbye." She then flew off, on those white wings of hers... Who was she? "Bye..." Drake said, sounding confused. At this point, he realized that what appeared to be a wolf was standing next to him. It didn't seem to be hostile, "Hello?" he said, confused, as if it would actually answer him. At this point, he realized that Nicolet wasn't there anymore. "Nicolet?" he called, "Where'd you go?" Perhaps she hadn't wanted to keep listening to the music... But wait! He could sense that she was still nearby... He focused, and he realized... He sensed her being right where the wolf was. He hadn't actually realized that his abilities had reached the point that would let him sense where his friends were, but... They had. And now, he also realized, he'd be able to use his telepathy outside of dragon form, and over longer distances as well. Drake focused, and spoke to her using telepathy. To someone with human hearing that wasn't paying attention, it would have seemed like he was speaking normally. Though if she had a wolf's hearing now, she'd probably be able to tell the difference easily, Nicolet? Is that you? |

She watched and waited patiently, as he turned around. Greeting her with a soft confused whisper. Causing her to incline her head in response. As she sat there, waiting and watching. When the light seemed to dawn in his eye's as he looked around him. Calling for her human form. The air around her seemed to stir and shift. Nicolet knew it wasn't a visible shift, no more a shift of the moons aura. Which she found interesting and quite disturbing. Prompting a small whine from her as she stood taking a tentative step forward. Something had changed, she didn't know what it was. She couldn't name it. She simply felt the difference in the night around her. As something seemed to begin to hum in her ears. Causing her to shake her head. Even as the buzzing became a soft but clear and crisp sound. “Nicolet? Is that you?” The sound, the buzz seemed to ask. As realization hit. Some how he knew. Some how he'd felt, or sensed her. Which really shouldn't be possible. She thought, not sure she liked the idea. Though their was little she could do about it now. Instead she yipped a gentle response, and moved her head up and down slowly mimicking a human nod. The best she could do. At the moment, other then drop her wolf form. Though the thought of doing so didn't feel quite right. She knew that night was passing swiftly. It was only a matter of time before the sun would rise shattering her calm. Taking a wolfish huff of air. She shook her fur out. Allowing the moons aura to wash over her form. Changing her shape quickly but fluid. Allowing him at least the comfort of knowing why she was so willing to accept his unique nature. After all she had nothing better to give at the moment. “That is quite the talent you have. Most mages would sense nothing more then a wolf. Even the elves, had difficulty recognizing me outside of my human form.” She admitted softly, even as she looked at the place the girl had once been. “Your not going to follow her?” Nicolet couldn't resist the question. The womans song had been amazing, ringing with a sound she couldn't begin to describe. |

Drake heard a yip from the wolf, and then saw as it moved its head in a way that somewhat resembled a nod. So, Nicolet was able to change her form too? That was interesting to know. After several moments, she then shifted back to her human form, and then noted that it was unusual that he'd been able to detect her. Most mages would simply have detected a wolf. "Well," he began "I suppose I've never been 'most mages' after all. My abilities seem to be becoming more powerful over time, and it never was simply a matter of learning spells... Honestly, I'm not sure how I sensed you either way. I've never done anything like that before... But... If I focus, I can tell where those I can call my friends are..." He paused, "For the most part. Some seem almost to have disappeared..." Of course, Valerie was among those who had done so. But, did that mean... Were Shien-Zen and Chase dead? He hoped not... Then, Nicolet asked him another question. Asking if he was going to follow "her" "The girl who was singing?" he asked, confused, "No... I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate a stranger flying after her. Especially if he was in the form of a dragon, since I can't fly in human form... Besides, it's probably too late anyway. She's already out of sight." He shrugged. He then commented, "It's not that often that I meet someone else who can change their form," Suddenly, he chuckled, "Of course, I don't really get to know very many people well at all anyway. I'm still the only one I know of that can turn into a dragon though..." He sighed. He still had no idea what he was... But then, he shrugged. There was no use obsessing over it. |

She listened as he made excuses for his abilities. Remembering a time when she did the same. Which really hadn't been that long ago. Though he wasn't able to explain anything, much the same she was. The ability, at first was nothing more then an instinct. An odd feeling that there was something more and different. Not unlike when she had felt the shift of aura. Or even when she first recalled feeling the aura. A steady calming coolness that seemed to settle in the pit of her stomach. A relief from the fragmented memories she had. He paused even as he asked about her question. Picking up on her meaning and carrying on through his confusion. He was right, taking off after the girl as a dragon now would be the only way to catch up. Which in turn might cause, unneeded distress on her part. He was intelligent. She had to give him credit there. As he was able to pick up where he'd left off. Before her odd question had caused him to change direction in the topic. “Common? I suppose that would be something like "most mages".” She said softly even as she took a step deeper into the city. After all they had only traveled about a block from the gates when they had first heard the melody. “Really serves me right though.” Nicolet admitted about her slip of the tongue earlier. After all neither of them were common. After all they more then anyone should know appearances were not everything. Though it still ruffled her fur that he'd managed to sense her. “I'm still the only one I know of that can turn into a dragon though.” He stated with a sigh. Causing her to pause in her step and face him. “You mean it's not a spell?” She asked, more interested then before. After all she didn't know much about magic, not really. Though she knew enough from the elves to understand some of the basics. Like her he shifted form without, a need for anything but the will to do so. Which explained why, like her. He found comfort in his non-human form. “Have you ever tried to study dragon legend? I can't be sure, but what if some of your ability's aren't directly related to the form you take? Like music, there is likely a reason it sooths you.” Nicolet offered while thinking. It was the same advice she had once received. Not that she bothered with it. There were other things she was more concerned with. Though, it made sense. As she thought about it. “After all it might be worth the effort, to know or try to know yourself. Hmmm...” She said aloud more to herself then to him, even as she turned and began walking again. |

Drake heard Nicolet say something about "common" and then something about serving her right... He wasn't sure what she was referring to. Had he lost track of something in the conversation? That did sometimes happen... When Drake mentioned that he was the only one he knew of that could turn into a dragon, Nicolet seemed surprised, “You mean it's not a spell?” Drake shook his head as he responded, "No, it's not. Honestly, the first time it happened, it wasn't even voluntary. I'm not even sure what I am... My eyes turn golden when I'm angry, I have all these abilities that really don't seem to be quite the same as spells I was actually taught..." He shrugged. It had been something he had thought about many times in the past, but right now, he wasn't going to obsess over it. Then, Nicolet suggested studying dragon legends, and said that it might be worth the effort to know himself... Though, the way she said the last part... Was it really directed at him? Well, whatever. He realized that she was walking, and he slowly followed her, "I have thought of that," he admitted, "But I haven't had a good chance to do so since the thought occurred to me really. Last time I was in a library, it ended up with my ending up nearly being murdered by the woman who raised me..." Drake then facepalmed. How the heck had he ended up bringing his past into this? Gah... He always managed to do stuff like this... Come to think of that, HAD that been the last time he'd been in a library? Time seemed to blur a bit for him sometimes... |

She had been right on both counts. He did know spells. Though his transformation wasn't part of that it was natural, instinct based. Even as he went on to explain things like his eye's changing color based on his emotions. She fell into silence as she walked not knowing where her feet were carrying only that the need to move forward seemed compelling. Even as she noticed he began to follow, admitting he had considered looking into his nature. While saying he hadn't had the chance to do so in awhile. “Last time I was in a library, it ended up with me nearly being murdered by the woman who raised me.” He continued, as he followed her. She wasn't looking back, though she had the impression he had said more then he wanted to. “What do you want to do? Are you really satisfied spending all your time flying around as a dragon?” Nicolet heard herself ask. Even as she stopped walking to look around. She didn't know this place, it was an area she hadn't been. At least not that she could remember. Then there was Drake, she wasn't sure what she should be doing at the moment. Only that in a matter of day's she would be moving on. Where and why, were the key. She didn't have an answer, though she was pretty sure Drake would be better off without her. He needed goals and direction just as much as she did. Still she was fairly certain, their goals were different. |

Nicolet didn't comment on what had Drake said about the last time he was in a library. Well, at least that saved him the explanation... However, then she asked a question. Asked him what he wanted to do, if he was really satisfied spending his time flying around as a dragon. He shook his head, as he responded, "No... I'm not satisifed with that. I want... I want to help people. But... I'm not sure how..." He sighed sadly, before continuing, "Really... When I try, it sometimes just makes everything worse... Sometimes much worse..." Sorrow entered his voice at the last part. As he remembered Valerie... It wasn't COMPLETELY his fault, but he still felt the guilt over it... The fact that her death wouldn't have happened there if it weren't for him... But he didn't want to think about it. He then asked her, curiously, "How about you? What do you want to do? You mentioned being lonely earlier... If you don't have any special goals yourself, maybe we could travel together... Or if you do, maybe I could help?" He then paused, "Er..." Drake had succeeded in making himself feel exceptionally awkward again. Where had that come from? ...He really didn't even understand how his own mind worked. |

He admitted to not being satisfied with what he was doing at the moment. Not much of anything! Nicolet thought, even as she turned to look at him directly. He then explained that he wanted to help others. An ideal thought, really. She couldn't help thinking, even as he continued on about not being sure how to help others. Nicolet heard the note of sadness, in his voice as he commented on making things worse when he tried to help others. She didn't know the cause of his sadness, and she wasn't going to dig up his skeletons. Though there was something about him. Nicolet didn't understand and couldn't explain, what or why. Though here she stood still, talking with him. Doing absolutely nothing in particular. Which was exactly as he had found her to begin with. She realized as she thought things over. His question interrupted her train of thought. What about her? What did she want? He continued with mentioning her loneliness. Only to add an offer to travel together, and help her. Hmmm, it was an interesting thought. Nicolet looked up at the sky to see it lightening. Really, there were things she needed and at the moment. Rest was at the top of her list. “At this time all I can think of is sleep. I've been up all day, and now all night. An Inn would be ideal. After a good rest, I'll consider your questions a bit more. For now I'm just plain tired.” Nicolet admitted. Even as she knew she should be telling him, exactly what he should be doing. So that he could get to his goals. She knew, though at the moment nothing was more important then a bed! She'd kick a drunk out of his door way, if she couldn't find a place to rest and soon. She thought looking around once more. |

Nicolet said that she wanted to rest before talking about it anymore, "Ah, alright then..." Drake replied, and then thought for a moment, "Hm... I don't really know of a good place to rest..." However, something caught his eye, a sign that said "The Dragon Blade" Judging from the light he saw coming from the window on the building the sign was for, it was probably a tavern. "Ah, let's ask over there," he said, pointing, "At the very least, someone should be able to tell us where to rest, if we can't rest there. After all, taverns sometimes double as inns..." He then walked down the street toward the door before opening it and heading inside. The inside of the tavern was rather lively, but it had a highly relaxed atmosphere. Drakee felt... A lot more comfortable in here than he had in other places like it, honestly. He wasn't sure why... He walked up to the counter and asked the barkeep, "Er... Do you know a good place to stay for the night?" The man laughed, "Right here! We're not just a tavern. Or did you not notice the stairs over there and the rooms at the top?" He pointed. Drake then realized that, yes, he had missed them, completely. Why did he miss things like that? "Erm... Anyway, do you have a couple rooms available?" he asked. The barkeeper shook his head, "Sorry, only one, but two people can stay in it. That alright?" Drake paused, "I'm not sure..." He didn't know if Nicolet would need a separate room or not... He decided that he'd need her answer. "Hold on." |

She was tired, even as she listened to Drake as he accepted her statement. Though he admitted to not knowing the town that well. At another time that would have been fine. She would have enjoyed getting lost. Now it was simply annoying. Her temperament certainly wasn't improving with her exhaustion and the rising sun. He pointed out a tavern as he saw it, beginning to move towards it. Explaining they could find answers there concerning a place to stay at any rate. Not that she cared, she'd sleep on a bar stool or table. Nicolet thought with a slight smile, as she recalled the last time she'd done just that. The poor fools that had woken her. Quickly realized it wasn't the brightest idea. As it had cost him and a friend a few fingers. Still she followed him to the tavern. After all something was better then nothing at this point. She thought. Watching as he walked up to the counter and asked the barkeep about rooms. Listening half heartedly to the discussion. “So long as I can sleep without being disturbed, I could care less where.” Nicolet answered. Though it sounded a lot harsher then she had meant it to be. Still, warning was the least she could do as her mood seemed to be running west with the moon. She thought even as she waited for Drake and the barkeep. Pulling a small pouch from her belt she fished out a single silver coin. Which should cover the cost of the room, and anything else they might need or want for the night. She thought, stepping up and setting it on the counter before the barkeep. |

Well, that was that. Nicolet impatiently said that she really didn't care as long as she could sleep without being disturbed, and handed a silver coin to the barkeep. He responded, "Alright, your room is at the end of the hallway to the right after going up those stairs. Have a nice night~" He handed a key to Drake, who took it and headed up the stairs. He then headed to where the man had said the room was, and opened the door with the key. "Well... Goodnight." Drake said to Nicolet. Honestly, he was a bit tired himself, and he wouldn't have any trouble heading to sleep... Though for some reason, he REALLY wanted to go into dragon form... Oh, why not. If anyone came into the room without warning, they kinda deserved the surprise they got. Besides, there was only one bed, and if he simply curled up in the corner, it would be left to her. He shifted into dragon form and did so, not bothering to offer any explanation. |

It was an average sized room, with a bed. That was all she needed and wanted at the moment. Nicolet was satisfied even as she watched for a moment as Drake said good night, and proceeded to shift forms. She could have done the same, slept anywhere really. Though a room was good. Allowing more privacy, and a better chance of not being woken by the odd passerby, or anything else. She thought throwing her sack into the other corner. She flopped onto the bed, and was out before she even noticed. ** The day had been a long one, she'd spent it wandering around the forest, looking for nothing, wanting for nothing. She had simply been trying to know where she was. She liked the forest after all. The night had brought a sense of peace she hadn't felt in a long time. Then there was Drake. Something of a riddle himself. She liked riddles to, though only when she could figure them out. When they woke, things would be as they were. His riddle... Her memories... The fire and embers... The burning ash, as it seared her skin... The stench.... She couldn't remember her name. Or where she had come from. As the smoke stung her eyes, burning her nose and throat with each ragged breath she took. How long had she been like this. She wondered even as she reached out to pull herself forward once more. ** OOC: ** symbols denote Nicolet is dreaming. |

Drake himself didn't fall asleep quite as fast as Nicolet had. Instead, he sat there, curled up in the corner, while thinking... This happened a lot. When he tried to sleep, or any time he didn't really have anything to distract him, occasionally even then... His thoughts would drift. Sometimes into disturbing places, sometimes not quite as much... But quite often, he'd think about the world. How twisted it could sometimes be... He would never deny the good in the world, but neither could he stand all the evil, the death, the suffering... Though really, his thoughts couldn't focus on anything consistently, especially at this point in time. There was a lot of noise coming from downstairs, and it was seriously bugging him. And then there were also the sounds that came from outside, crickets chirping, maybe a dog barking or a cat meowing in annoyance at something especially loudly. Of course, there were also much less annoying sounds... Slight blowing of the breeze outside, and maybe a little rattle of chimes somewhere, though those were nearly drowned out by everything else. And of course, Nicolet breathing over there. It wasn't as if he could NOT hear that, what with her being in the same room... However, eventually, Drake did manage to get to sleep. And of course, his sleep wasn't entirely peaceful... He wouldn't be able to remember everything the next day, but at least one of the dreams was one of those annoying ones where whatever that demon was that was sealed inside him would taunt him... At this point, he'd learned to pretty much ignore it until whatever dream it was would end, since really there were no mental assaults anymore for the most part, and certainly not this time... But then, he also heard a beautiful, angelic voice in his dreams, singing... It sounded a lot like that girl from earlier in reality... Though he never saw her, that beautiful voice did at least manage to soothe him a bit more, even if it was in a dream... The next morning, when Drake woke up, Nicolet was still asleep. And then he realized that something was wrong, and he moved closer. She appeared to be having a nightmare... It was quieter now during the day, than it had been during the night when the tavern was active, and Drake was able to clearly hear that both her breathing and heartbeat were faster than normal... And she almost seemed to be afraid... In pain... Drake didn't want to just leave her like that, and he was about to shift into human form and shake her awake when he got an idea. Nicolet? he said, using his telepathy, Are you alright? Relax... Whatever's going on, it's just a dream... He hoped that it would help calm her down at least... |

OOC: Graphic ** She new it was day time. The smoky haze was tinged with orange but not from the flames, those no longer burned. Unlike the embers and ash, which lent its glow to the, smoky haze. It was one of the few things she knew for certain. As she reached forward. Her nails, were broken and bloody from having done this a thousand times before. Feeling for a grip. Her nails tearing through the crispy, mush of charred flesh. Who or what it had once been she didn't want to know. The broken and charred bodies stretched out before her. Some still retaining their original shape. Allowing her glimpses of human forms, or animals among them. They seemed to go on for miles. Her hand found something stable and steady. She didn't want to think about what it was or what it could be. Everything hurt, she couldn't deny that knowledge either. As she pulled herself forward slowly. She had lost track of when her legs had given out. Having over worked those muscles a long time ago. Leaving her to rely on her hands and arms. Occasionally she'd pull bones free from the mass, tossing to them to the side. Trying to ignore what she knew. At one time they had been like her. They had died trying to reach the small hope they could see. She was determined not to add her corps to the mass. As she climbed forward. Though her strength was failing her. Even as she concentrated on the opening at the end of the haze of smoke, embers and ash. Her only hope was the small opening some where up a head. A small glimpse of day light beyond the bodies and smoke. At night when it was dark she'd continue to crawl forward slowly inch by inch, to reach it. Then she'd see the stars glowing beautifully beyond the utter blackness around her. All she knew all she wanted to know, was that she was going forward. Some where up in front of her there was an end to the stench and decay, the fires and the flame. She would not end here, as so many had before her. ** “Nicolet? Are you alright? Relax...Whatever's going on, it's just a dream..” The voice tore through the dream shattering the images, the feelings. Causing her to stir, and open her eye's to find its location. Drake stood near the bed. Nicolet sat up with a moan clutching her head. That dream again.. It had been so long. She thought as she tried to remember the last time she'd had it. It always left her with a headache. Today it seemed was no different. She thought even as she tried to shake the fragmented memories. |

As Drake had hoped, his voice had reached her, and she woke up. As she sat up, she moaned and clutched her head, as if she had a headache. You alright? Drake asked, concerned, Sorry about waking you, but you seemed like you were having a pretty bad dream. After waiting a moment for an answer, he then remembered that she'd said that she would consider what he had asked earlier last night after she'd rested a bit. Before he actually went and mentioned it though, he then decided maybe to wait a bit to see if she'd bring it up herself. He simply sat there a bit away from her bed, still in dragon form... He really didn't want to shift out of it. He wouldn't until they left the room, and even then, he would be extremely reluctant to do so... He wasn't sure why his dragon form was feeling more and more comfortable to him, and his human form less and less so... |

“You alright? Sorry about waking you, but you seemed like you were having a pretty bad dream.” Bad was an understatement. Was she alright? “I'm in one piece though my head feels like it's in a million at the moment. I'm alright.” She whispered through gritted teeth even as she clutched her skull together knowing that in a few minutes the pain would ease to a dull tolerable throb. After a few moments of concerned silence, and a few deep breaths on her part she was able to pull her hands away from her head. Staring at them for a moment she could still see the difference, the scars at the tips of her fingers and the discoloration of her nails. She remembered every detail vividly, having relived it a thousand times in her dreams. She had long ago lost count. Though it hardly haunted her as much as it once did. She looked up to find a concerned dragon looking at her. While she was disappointed her sleep had been disturbed the concern was hard not to forgive. Nicolet thought even as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and stood up. “I really can't agree to travel with you. You want to help people, though before you can help anyone. It would be best to take care of yourself. The best way to do that would be, to get to know who you are what you can and can't do. Then you can make a real difference.” She said even as she walked to the corner where she'd tossed her bag. Picking it up and pulling the strap over her shoulder. “Now I need hot tea, and then a bath. After that I'll be on my way. Might I suggest you talk to the owner here. If you need work while you dig through the library, you might be able to help him, and improve your way of dealing with others.” She offered even as she headed for the door, not bothering to wait for him. After all she really needed to be on her way. The dream alone gave her reason to get out of this town as soon as she was able. |

Nicolet said that she was fine, but her head felt like it was in a million pieces. Drake wasn't sure how to respond, so he simply continued to sit there. After a few moments, Nicolet looked at him, and as she got up from her bed, she said that she couldn't travel with him. That if he wanted to help people, he should find out more about himself... I suppose... he said, though it was obvious that he was EXTREMELY unsure about it. He remembered that she'd suggested looking into dragon legends and such to see what he could find... He really had thought of that before, but he was unsure of what he would find, and also unsure that it was worth taking the time to do so when he could be helping people during that time... Nicolet then commented that she needed some tea and a bath, and suggested asking for work from the inn's owner. Drake didn't bother commenting, but he figured that it wouldn't be necessary. After all, he could sleep outside the city, in the forest, and also hunt there if he needed food. Drake shifted to human form, and said, "Well, if you don't want to travel with me, then bye I guess... Hopefully we'll run across each other again... Oh, and don't be surprised if you suddenly hear my voice in your mind if I'm ever lonely~" He wasn't sure why he'd said that, he'd just felt like it. He walked out of the room, then out of the inn and toward the library... Hopefully he'd be able to find something. |
