The leaves whispered gently in the nights sweet air. The moon, glowed gentle and bright. Without clouds to fight, so that is silver aura, was lent to everything it touched. She padded through the forest on soft paws. Pausing to listen as the water trickled from the stream she'd chosen to follow. She could hear the night creatures scurrying to get out of her path, and reach cover. Though other smaller creatures, didn't seem to notice her in the slightest. Catching the slightest hint of movement along a tree, she moved towards it. Sniffing at the caterpillar inching along its rough surface. If she could have she would have laughed. As its bristled back tickled her nose, she sneezed. 'Hurphf', with a shake of her head she turned padding deeper into the forest. A flash of light caught her eye's behind some bushes. She moved softly into them slowly. Crouching low and inching her way in. Quietly, softly. She didn't want to disturb any thing or anyone. Merely feel, something more. See things a bit differently. After all she'd been, traveling in her human form for day's causing her to itch in her own skin. Not something she enjoyed or found comfort in. She thought, even as she caught a glimpse of the light she'd been searching for. It, bounced and danced, off the gentle ripples of a rather large and calm pool of water. Carefully she sniffed the air to assure herself no one outside the forest creatures was about. Then she, shifted. Slowly gracefully. Taking the time to let the silver light gently sweep over her, wrapping around her in soft waves. Spreading over her, till she stood on two feet. The pack she carried slung over her shoulder. This she let slide to her hand, kneeling to open the flap. As she pulled out a flask, and moved carefully to the waters edge. Dipping it into the water. She whispered softly, “Thank you, element of nourishment.” She didn't know why she spoke those words. Or any for that matter, it just felt like something she had to do. She capped the flask, and tucked it back into the the sack. Before, setting it softly next to her as she sat upon a moss covered rock near the waters edge. She found herself being drawn into the moons reflection, as it rippled gently across the waters surface. |

Drake flew through the forest, still in dragon form, He'd escaped Morrim, and he doubted anyone would have followed him this far, even if they'd seen him enter that cave, and made the connection between the black dragon that had entered, and the green dragon who had left... Drake cringed, the memories of what that monster that had possessed him had done. He'd been too drowned in despair to fight... To even understand anything. But the memories still haunted him. He knew that it hadn't been him doing the killing, the destroying... And yet, if he'd fought against it, there was no doubt that he would have at least been able to reduce the damage. While the memories of the destruction were still fresh in his mind, he still couldn't remember what had snapped him out of it. And he still missed Valerie... She was dead... He wouldn't be seeing her again... But he had to move on. There were others that still needed protecting, and though he still doubted himself sometimes, he wouldn't stop doing his best. Drake could feel the dark presence still waiting... And he'd never know when it would strike, try to take control from him... But he wouldn't let it get to him. Perhaps he could even look for a way to make a seal that was better than just his own willpower alone... Unless there already was a seal, and perhaps it had been weakened... But where would that seal have come from? He supposed it didn't matter. He should just enjoy the night in the forest. So peaceful, so calm... He could hear the breeze that gently blew through the leaves, through the grass. And feel as it blew along his scales. He could smell other animals around, their fear of the dragon that flew through the forest. But he wasn't hunting right now... Then he heard the water. That sound... I must be at Amaranth Falls. he thought. He suddenly felt like going for a swim. To feel the water flowing over his scales... But as he got closer, he heard a slight change in the water's flow for a moment. Something was there. Then again, it was probably nothing... Then, he was able to smell whoever was there. Not an animal of the forest, but not quite human. And then he saw the person there. A woman, with pointed ears. But... He could somehow tell that it wasn't an elf. She was sitting on a rock near the water. As always, Drake's loneliness came up again once he saw another person. He wanted someone to talk to... Hello? he said, somewhat softly so he hopefully wouldn't startle her. |

Nicolet was so absorbed by the reflection of the moon on the waters surface. Watching as the water rippled coming towards her, almost as if the moon itself was reaching for her. That she'd forgotten her surroundings. Not bothering to listen to the night and the creatures around her. Till a single whisper intruded on her peace. “Hello”. It was a simple soft yet gruff whisper. That caused her to look around. Half wondering if the water had spoken. Yet knowing she wasn't capable of hearing the elements. After a moment she looked up. At the edge of the tree line hovered a green dragon. At first she wasn't quiet sure what to make of the creature, watching as his wings beat against the night air stirring the trees. Part of her responded with the idea of kicking herself. As she should have heard him coming. Though he was still at a comfortable distance. The knowledge that he'd come up without her noticing wasn't something she could exactly smile about. None the less, had he really spoken? “Uhm, hello?” She responded in kind. Half wondering and half hoping she wasn't loosing her mind. That quiet possibly the dragon had whispered those words. And what would she do if it had? She wondered watching it. She hadn't really been expecting company. Especially, deep in the woods as she was. Though she wasn't one to run off either. At least not if she didn't need to. She thought, with a slight tilt of her head watching the dragon and waiting. For what she wasn't certain. Though she wasn't going to rule out being dinner, if the creature were hungry, and its ability of flight made escape a more challenging idea. |

Drake heard the woman respond back, and he came a little closer. Sorry if I startled you. he said, and then paused. I just... I saw someone here, and I felt like talking. I'm lonely sometimes... He then realized that it was probably disconcerting for her to be talking to a dragon. He sighed, not really wanting to shift to human form, but deciding to do it anyway. For some reason, he seemed to be wanting to be in dragon form more than human lately, and it was getting harder for him to bring himself to be in human form when he wanted to be a dragon. There was a flash of light, and then Drake was in human form, and he said, "I suppose you probably would find it odd just talking to a dragon huh?" He paused. "Anyway, I'm Drake. I mostly just wander around by myself, and being alone gets old... So, uh..." He sighed, shaking his head. "Gah... I'm horrible at just bringing up any sort of conversation, and you probably think I'm crazy, coming out of nowhere like that..." He found his hand heading toward his face as he felt awkward as usual... |

“Sorry if I startled you.” She watched the dragon speaking directly to her as he came closer. So he did actually speak. She wasn't so far off her rocker! Nicolet thought listening as he continued. “I just..I saw someone here, and I felt like talking. I'm lonely sometimes...” A lonely dragon? Well, why not? Nicolet thought to herself as she listened to him, watching as a he settled to the ground just at the tree line. A flash of light washing over him, almost blinding her for a moment. As her eye's cleared and adjusted, she noted before her stood a male. He was young, and tall. She noted looking him over. Mage or shapeshifter? She wondered even as he began speaking again. “I suppose you probably would fin it odd just talking to a dragon huh?” He said stating the obvious. Before carrying on. Though as he spoke she found the corner of her mouth hitching up in a slight smile. “Anyway, I'm Drake. I mostly just wander around by myself, and being alone gets old... So, uh...” By the time he paused for his second sentence. She'd developed a full blown smile, her eyebrows slightly raised as she let him finish his ramble. “Gah... I'm horrible at just bringing up any sort of conversation, and you probably think I'm crazy, coming out of nowhere like that...” Nicolet stood unable to help the smile that covered her face. He was young, and honest. Something relatively human, as a mage or shapeshifter. She thought taking a step forward, and extending her hand. “It's a pleasure to meet you, Drake. I'm Nicolet Moon. Hmm, I admit it is a challenge to accept that a dragon would bother to stop and talk to me for any reason. Yet, seeing as how you are not merely a dragon. I suppose it explains your need for conversation.” She said softly as she waited for him, to accept her introduction. As far as introductions went the first ones were always the most uncomfortable. The young were more prone to embarrassment, and not as likely to be able to hide it. Which she noted when his hand moved towards his face. So a hand shake would suit, to ease the discomfort. Giving him something to do with the hand in question. She stood waiting. |

Just as Drake was about to finish facepalming at his own awkwardness, he noticed that the woman was smiling, and holding her hand out. He took the hand away from his face and shook hers, responding, "Er, hi Nicolet. I'm not just a dragon, but I seem to be less human every day." He felt awkward just speaking like this and yet he was doing it anyway, for no apparent reason. It was odd, how he felt so awkward as he kept talking, more and more so the more he spoke yet he sometimes just kept going... "Honestly, normally I would have gone back to human form before speaking, but I seem to be preferring my dragon form more and more lately..." He sighed, and after a moment, said, "I seriously don't understand why I do this. I just bring up something that you probably don't care about just to talk... I've done this with other people too..." He winced. Why couldn't he be more sure of himself as he spoke? ...Well, it probably had something to do with how he sometimes would still feel ridiculous just looking back on an event. He was almost always clear enough so it wasn't difficult to understand him, but it often wasn't difficult to misunderstand him either, or even think he was just plain odd... Or at least, that's what he thought of it. Perhaps he wasn't the best judge of himself... He wasn't sure. ...He was rarely really sure about anything. |

His hand was warm and firm, as he shook hers. Not to mention a good deal larger she thought, as she listened to him. At his admission her mind caught on the words “less human.” Her smile didn't leave only softened as his hand dropped from hers and he kept talking. As he mentioned preferring his dragon form she reflected on her own feelings lately. Though he carried on as if, he had to say something. Explaining his rambling, as he admitted having done so with others before. She noticed the slight creasing of his warm eye's. As he spoke. “Funny, really I don't remember mentioning thinking you were human, or less human. Nope! Just found it odd that a dragon would bother to speak to me. Vampires, Elves, and other various less human creatures..Well, they all need conversation, even if it's only with themselves. So I can say, you seem a great deal less crazy then those who prefer to converse with themselves.” Nicolet admitted softly, even as she turned away from his slightly to take a seat once more on the moss covered rock. “As for preferring a less human appearance. Sometimes its easier to accept the loneliness if one is.. different.” Nicolet offered turning her head to look back out over the water. “It really is a lovely night. I really don't mind sharing it, if you wish to enjoy it as well.” She offered after a moment even as she watched the moonlight dance on the waters surface. A soft reflection of the trees. Created the illusion that the leaves were dancing in some unseen and unfelt breeze. |

Less crazy than those who converse with themselves? Drake chuckled slightly at that comment. He supposed it was true. Though he did have other problems that could make him seem a bit more than crazy... Thankfully, that wasn't an issue right now however. And hopefully it wouldn't be again... However, something else she said caught his attention. Accept the loneliness when you're different...? That didn't sound like something someone would say unless they were lonely themselves. Before he could comment, she said something about that she wouldn't mind sharing the night. He then stood next to the rock she was sitting on and said, "You said something about accepting the loneliness when you're different, right? That sounds like a comment from someone who's had experience with that sort of thing." He smiled at her, warmly, "You know, I don't mind listening if you'd like to talk as well. Even if you've 'accepted' the loneliness, it can't hurt to feel a bit less lonely, can it?" For some reason, he felt awkward even offering to listen, but he did care, even about this person he didn't know at all. |

“You said something about accepting the loneliness when your different, right? That sounds like a comment from someone who's had experience with that sort of thing.” He said as he stood beside her. His words were kind and sweet. She couldn't help the touch of sadness they triggered. Though the reason for it was still far beyond her. She looked up to find him smiling at her warmly. Even as he offered to listen, to ease the loneliness she might feel. Though what good it would do well, that was something that no one could say. Turning her eye's up to the moon, she inhaled the sweet night air and closed her eye's. Even as she opened her mouth to speak. “Your young, and vary kind.” She said allowing herself a self loathing smile. Even as she turned her eye's once more to the water. “Though I have no stories to share. No memories of things, lost. All I have is the night, and this one is especially nice. For my mood is as welcoming as it is. I don't mind sharing. I just have nothing, except this night, to share.” Nicolet offered softly. There were a great many things outside the night, that were well different. Though she new none of it mattered here and now. That was the greatest lesson she had. Loneliness, was an emotion she knew to well. She also knew that it was nothing more then a cover for the sense of loss. Yet, she couldn't remember what she'd lost in the first place. Nor did she really have much desire to dig it up out of the ashes. She smiled, again at the thought. Even as her smile became a twisted shadow of itself. As her thoughts moved to the day, and what the sunlight might bring. |

"No memories huh?" Drake asked. He then laughed slightly, sadly. "I wish I could lose some of my memories... If I didn't have them, I might not be so sad... And the truth is, they don't make any real difference in anything I do." Suddenly, tears were falling down his face. Remembering Valerie... He hadn't been able to do a thing to save her... And because of his despair, there were so many other people he hadn't been able to save, because he couldn't even comprehend it in the state he'd been in... He shook his head, and sighed, "But there's nothing I can do. And even if there was, I'd probably fail to do it miserably..." He then suddenly laughed again, but it still sounded sad. "And just listen to me. I'm just going on again... Gaah... And I can't stop crying... I feel so pathetic..." Why couldn't he just stop going on and on...? He probably wasn't making that much sense to Nicolet either. The moon looked down upon them, and his tears shone in its light. He felt so lonely... Even if Nicolet was here now, he'd soon be by himself again. And he didn't know what he could do... He felt so pathetic... Edited by Drake Aurelis, Oct 31 2009, 01:39 PM.

Nicolet heard his question. His statement, and the thickness that gathered in his voice as he made it. She didn't bother to look, the sadness ran so deep she could hear it. After a moment he was able to gather himself once more and continue. She listened intently as he made another statement, this one full of self loathing. Followed by a hollow laugh. Only to explain away the pain in more self loathing. “I've always thought tears are the blood of wounds to the soul. Though without memories, how would one know if they even carried such wounds. I have memories, though none worth sharing. None worth crying over. They're kind of hollow.....” She said letting her words drift on the soft night breeze. “Anyway, at least you know what you've lost. What you didn't do the first time. You have the ability of knowing that you can and will do things differently. You might fail, there are no guarantees. You have the pleasure of knowing you tried. Remembering what went wrong, and the ability to find a better way to handle it.” Nicolet offered knowing that her advice was nothing more then sentimental ramblings at the moment. Brought on by the nights serene and quiet beauty. She wasn't about to fool herself some where in the world others would use the night to their advantage, for good or ill. Neither which really mattered to her. “What do you enjoy most from life?” Nicolet found herself asking. It wasn't anywhere near the subject they had been discussing but her curiosity had sprung to life, and well. She wasn't one to sit on a good question. |

Drake listened to what Nicolet said. At least he knew what he'd lost? But that was the problem. He probably would have been better off if he'd never met Valerie... And so would Valerie herself... It was because of him that she'd been in that cave. Because of him that the fight that had led to her death had happened. If he hadn't gone and attacked Drium... And he was right there, and he hadn't been able to stop her from being killed... Just for trying to intervene in the fight... But wait! Maybe... Maybe it was better that he could remember. Because he knew who he needed to stop. He would destroy Drium... Stop that monster from hurting anyone else ever again. And perhaps it was better that he remembered the destruction that the creature that had possessed him had done. So he wouldn't let it happen again! He'd fight with his entire being to stop it! Suddenly, Nicolet asked him a question. "What I enjoy most in life?" he repeated back. "Hm... I'm not sure really. I suppose... Maybe, helping people. Protecting the innocent from those who would harm them for their own greed. But... I dunno. Mostly... That's just something I feel I need to do mostly." He sat there, thinking for a moment more. "Perhaps... Music. It's not something I hear often, but it can be so beautiful..." He shrugged. "I don't really know. What about you?" |

Helping people, protecting the innocent. Nicolet could see how he'd be the kind to find some satisfaction in such ideals. Rather then sharing her thoughts though she merely nodded politely as he continued. Waiting as he paused to think. Before giving her a more reasonable answer. Music, now that was an idea. “Music's nice. Perfect for a night such as this. Wanna find some?” She asked standing and grabbing up her sack and slinging it over her shoulder, as she turned towards him. He really needed a lift. Music was something that might do the trick where she couldn't. She vary well knew she wasn't about to try rescuing damsels in distress. That would only get her in a mess, and she wasn't much in the mood for messes. Though, watching some one get toasty warm, listening to music, in some dive somewhere. Well, that might be worth enjoying. She thought, even as she stood waiting for his response. |

"Hm?" Drake looked up at Nicolet, "Yes, I'd love to listen to music, but I wouldn't know where to find any. I can play some piano myself, but I obviously don't carry one with me." He chuckled slightly, before thinking for a minute. "I'd guess that a city would be the most likely place to find music... Madrid is closest, so would you like to head there?" Drake looked at Nicolet while waiting for her response. He wondered though... She had said something about being lonely because of being different... Would she want to head to a city? And if not, where was she planning on finding some music? |

Nicolet smiled as she stepped towards him. He responded, with a joke about not carrying a piano on him. A city, Madrid being the closest. That was good enough for her. She thought, tossing one last wistful look at the pool of water. “Madrid, can't say I'm familiar with the area so I'll have to follow you.” She responded turning another smile on the charming boy. City's brought trouble, though she wasn't hunting for any tonight there were other easier ways to enjoy, a peaceful evening. She thought waiting for his response. Half relishing the idea. Even as she imagined the easiest way to get to the nearest town. Which certainly wasn't by foot. Though at the moment the question was how was she going to respond when the time came. Would she share with the honest young man, or would she keep her secrets to herself. After all she loved a good secret. Edited by Nicolet Moon, Nov 1 2009, 08:54 PM.

"Alright then." Drake said, "Follow me." He then began walking in the direction of Madrid. Suddenly though, he stopped, and then shifted into dragon form again. He said to her, Sorry, but I think I'd rather be in this form. Suddenly, he thought of something. It seemed odd, but... Why not? If you want, I can fly you to Madrid. I'm more than strong enough to do that, and it will be faster than if you walk and I stay back for you to catch up. I dunno about you, but I'd rather get to hear the music as soon as possible, wouldn't you? He paused, and then, sounding much less sure of himself, Of course, I can understand that you might not want to be carried by a dragon through the air... Really he'd felt awkward asking to begin with. He wasn't entirely sure why he hadn't sounded so much like it at first... |

“Alright then. Follow me.” He said as he turned and began walking in the general direction. Nicolet was vary tempted to laugh, though held it check as she moved to fall into step with him. If he was planning on walking all the way there, it would take considerable time and they'd likely get there in a day or so.... She wasn't so sure she was up for waiting that long. She was glad she'd been paying attention, because he suddenly stopped in front of her. Had she not been paying attention she would have plowed right into his back. She had to take a few steps back as he shifted form. Once again taking the shape of the green dragon, that she'd met initially. She listened as he proceeded to apologize for wanting to be in his dragon form. Then continued to carry on, about how flying would be easier, and that he could carry her there much faster. Sounding happy, and upbeat about the idea of seeking out the music. Then he paused as if thinking. Before he continued on, about understanding if she was uncomfortable.. and blah, blah. That was it decided, if he preferred to be ridden she wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to fly on a dragons back. Even though it occurred to her he hadn't said anything about riding, hmmm. She thought looking at him for a moment. "Flying would most certainly be faster and easier.” Nicolet admitted. “I'm not disturbed by your dragon form. Only...” She looked him over taking a step closer as she did so before continuing her sentence. “I've never flown by dragon before, so I'm curious as to just how you plan to carry me?” She said softly phrasing the last few words more as a question. Allowing her natural curiosity to show through, every word and expression. After all this was all vary interesting, and now that she wasn't focused on the moons reflection. She was really beginning to get into the excitement her curiosity always brought. |

So, she did want to fly after all? Good! She asked how he was planning on carrying her though. Well, I could probably put my claws around your arms and lift you up, but I doubt that would be very... Or at all... Comfortable. he began, It would probably be better if you get on my back. Here, He then proceeded to lay down on the ground, facing away from her. Go on and get on. And don't worry, I'm not going to drop you. He let out a rumbling noise that resembled a growl, but was a laugh, and would no doubt come across as exactly what it was. After all, I have done this before. |

She got to ride the dragon! She thought watching as he lay down on the ground. Offering his back. Promising not to drop her. As if she was afraid of falling off . She couldn't resist the laugh that bubbled up at the thought. Which she allowed upon hearing his rumble as well. Nicolet took a deep breath as she approached him to settle herself. As she lifted her leg and climbed onto his back. She was thankful now that she hadn't offered more. Seeing as she wouldn't have had the opportunity, other wise. That and it was handy she didn't know her way. At the moment she was content to just go where ever the wind took her. Which had landed her in a few hot spots, but this by far was the most entertaining moment yet. She held on knowing that the jump to get off the ground was going to be a shaky ride. None the less she was thrilled. “Alrighty, I suppose the hunt for music is on!” She said enthusiastically, looking forward to the ride. It was going to be her first memory of flying without having to be in her raven form. That thought alone made it worth, while. She thought smiling. |
