| Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members. Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity. But how long will that peace last? Enter Elenlond; Turn the pages and tell your own tale. If you're already a member please log in to your account to access all of our features: |

"All of the necessary arrangements have been met. All you need to do now is make a decision." The dim flicker of candle light made the shadows on the walls dance across ancient clan tapestries, large black symbols painted against rich purple and blue cloth. This particular clan was highly ritualistic, as they sat in the same semi-circle upon silk pillows every time a visitor arrived, even a visitor as ominous as this. He was proposing a change, something they didn't wholly accept, but the bargain was not one that they could take lightly. This was the greatest opportunity their guild had ever been offered. The price, however, was equally as outrageous. They didn't have a moment to spare, otherwise the offer would vanish. He'd come in the cradle of darkness and now sat amongst them, giving the guild leaders ten minutes time to decide. The air was thick with fear and magic. "We've decided to accept your offer," the aged woman in the center spoke with a serious tone, her eyes dipping to the floor in wavering stability of what she'd said. "To ensure you will not double cross us, we will prepare a ritual of bonding. Do this to win our favor, and you will have your new guardians." With a heavy sigh, the meeting was over. The ritual took ten more minutes to prepare, longer than he'd intended on staying, but necessary. With the clap of arms against one another, the bond was established. Magic was its witness, as white ropes of light wrapped around their arms and vanished. He never intended on betraying them. This new unit will be more influential and useful than any of his military, and its duty began immediately. "Perfect," the white serpent grinned wolfishly. "You begin tomorrow night. I want the imports destroyed and the evidence left for Soto to examine. Use the terrain and hide yourselves well. Fail, and our contract is void. I will kill you all." A cold hand landed on the old woman's shoulder. "Try not to worry too much. No one will be expecting anything, and your chances at success fall with the rise of anxiety. This will work. In exchange, you will receive any and all information you desire, and at the end, my war journal, something no one else will ever have." "Yes, My Lord," she bowed her head respectively as the Emperor turned to take his leave, swallowed up in shadow upon reaching the threshold, vanishing like the apparition he was. She and the two men beside her were left watching one another, conversations passing by eye contact as they asked themselves if they really knew just what they'd agreed to. "Do not fear..." she whispered. "He was bound to come along anyway, and Soto is ill prepared. We side with him and we side with the winning team. We've secured our survival and the acquisition of much more. The things we will learn..." A candle in the corner dimmed as the flame reached the bottom of the wick and died. A moth rejoiced the passing of its allure. |
