Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

Sophia

The air seemed to remain on a knife edge as Tekun spoke. Everyone was still ready for a fight, and Sophia would not sheath her blade whilst she was outnumbered three to one, when any of them could turn incredibly hostile at any moment.

The first part of Tekun's tale was nothing new to her. She knew her who her father was, she knew why he died. Her eyes narrowed when he mentioned how she used to like her Uncle, was he trying to aggrivate her? Did he want her to attack again, and then most likely die herself in return? It was possible. But her mind was calm enough now to resist the urge that ran through her body.

Mjor.

One word jumped out of is monolouge. Her brother... Was alive? She barely remembered him, he was months old when she saw him last, little more than a handful of bones held together by a veneer of flesh. She had assumed him dead... She had only lived because in a panic, not knowing at all what was happening, she had been told to run. She had been too young to carry her baby brother... She went back later, and saw only the villa, but soaked in blood and scorch marks, blood was on the walls, on the floor... She remembered seeing her dead parents... She had never found Mjor... She had not belived anything could survive the carnage. Now she looked back, she realised in many ways, she didn't. That her, with the future young Sophia had, died there and then, every emotion became blocked off, so that she did not have to deal with what happened. But Mjor lived.

Her voice hovered on the brink of breaking, but she kept it together enough to give anything away. A sign of weakness and this nest of vipers would be on her in a second. She was not going to die here, not now. "What happened to him?" she asked "Is he still alive?", her voice managed to contain more distaste for Tekun than usual.

Tekun

"Mjor is alive today, good health too, so i've heard. After the slaughter, Davidoff had become a broken man. A mere shadow of what he had been previously in his life. No purpose, except one. He took Mjor in, to coup, to make up for his sin, his cowardice. I......allowed it." Tekun swallowed air and awaited to be slapped. "My life style is too dangerous to raise a child and I couldn't trust anyone else to raise him right. Davidoff, was the only option."

Tekun looked back up with Sophia, he knew what her reaction would be.

"I....have kept track of Mjor though, but, 15 or so years later. Davidoff had been slain, Mjor had been left alone once again. Davidoff kept his word, kept Mjor alive. Raised him right, but, he knows not the truth behind what happened those years ago."

Sophia

Mjor still lived? That was good. But... Tekun had left him with Davidoff? She hit him in the face, hard, the sound of her fist connecting somehow seemed to drain some of the lack of control she had been feeling from her. She dropped her sword and used her other hand to hit him again. "What the hell!" she demanded, still emotionally quite empty, but evidently annoyed "You left Mjor with him!" she growled, and looked ready to hit him again "You let him live?" she demanded, grabbing onto Tekun's face and forcing him to look her in the eyes "Why?".

She was unsure what she felt... Emotions that had been blocked swirled around a little, and she knew not what they really were... Did she want to see him? Did she want to avoid him? What was he like, was he like her, cold, wilted like a flower left too long in the sun? A mere shadow of what could have been glorious, dedicated to one art and ignoring anything which may bring happiness or joy?

Tekun

"I can't trust strangers. I can't trust people I don't know." Tekun said with a look of resolve in his eyes as he stared into Sophia's cold brown eyes. He had not reacted to the punch, nor the second.

"If you want to make someone suffer, you allow them to punish themselves and give them a constant reminder of what happened. Mjor was that reminder. Davidoff had become a shell of a man, there was nothing left for him other then to raise Mjor. Imagine the feeling, the fake smile, the fact he could never tell Mjor what happened, never beg for forgiveness. Dying is but an easy way out."

Tekun was cold, almost angry. He punished Davidoff by making him Mjor's guardian. But it was his attonement too. More importantly, Mjor's only real family left and one of the few people Tekun could trust to take care of him."

"He died on the inside that day. Mjor lived though."

Sophia

"And you just walked away, and continued as before. You washed your hands with him and were done" Sophia challenged Tekun's justification, not buying it at all. "If you can't trust strangers why trust him with a baby!" she shouted, losing herself slightly in emotions which bubbled up "Your just twisting your reasons to suit what you did! Even if you wanted nothing to do with it, there must have been places to leave Mjor than there... You had him grow up amidst a sea of blood because you were so desperate to leave it all alone and get away! You forced him to grow up as a killer!" she stopped, and closed her eyes, calming herself. Maybe some of her own bitterness was showing a little now, maybe it would not have been so bad... Maybe Davidoff left his old lifestyle behind him... Doubtful, he was a fighter through and through. Maybe it was not so bad if all you ever knew was violence... But what effect would it have on his mind? Sophia knew her own mental stability had long ago been sacrificed for the purpose of her survival. Of course, Tekun would have some clever reason why it was all okay and he was right, he always did. Thats why she... Yes, she hated him. So much.

She released Tekun, and stepped away, picking up and sheathing her sword, before coldy informing Tekun of her view "You are nothing but a pathetic self righteous self justifying arrogant monster. And now I have twice as many reasons to look forwards to the day when I kill you" she scowled, and walked back to her parasol, which she picked up. She was considering going, but the rain still looked bad... She walked a little further away, and used her parasol to directly block her view of Tekun. She had no interest in anything else he had to say.

Tekun

"Hate me, despise me. Be bitter about the brother you never knew. What would YOU understand about any of this child. You know nothing" Tekun scolded as he glared "Tell me. You found out about what Davidoff did, but you did know how his mind worked, how he was before this tragedy." Tekun clenched his teeth.

"Am I sure I did the right thing? No. Did I think I did. Yes. If I left Mjor there or within that area. Odds are that he would have ended up serving that man one day. It wouldn't be safe for me to bring a child far away. With Davidoff, he had a somewhat of a future. You've become bitter. Too bitter. You are nothing but a cold shell of a woman. No emotion, just anger and hate. Your not a warrior. You are not a warrior. Perhaps the term to use would be assassin."

Raenie

Her small faerie wings were fluttering so rapidly now that a pipsqueak of a humming noise much like that of the humming bird could be heard from just a couple feet above the scene of tension below. She had taken flight once Tekun took the first blow to the face after almost falling from his shoulder beforehand. All the while the little fae cried out in protest against Sophia's strikes but she doubted she had even been heard. It felt as if Tekun and Sophia's conjoined auras formed an atmosphere in which just the two of them existed; where nothing save for their own voices could be heard or even acknowledged and all visuals around them besides each other had blackened from their view. Even the air surrounding them felt as if gravity had thickened so much that if Raenie were to even fly near, she feared she might meet her fate at a cold, swampy ground. Here above the action, she was safe and out of Tekun's way, which is what he wished. Still, her worried look of concern never left her face.

Fortunately, the faerie was at last allowed to breathe a sigh of relief as the tension eased once Sophia turned and sheated her blade, appearing as if she were leaving. Tekun, of course, had to insult her as she did as if he wanted her to hit him more. "Tekun, stop!" she pleaded, sure that the bitterness was going to fill the air once more if the blademistress turned around. Even if she were an assassin, Raenie doubted that was what Sophia wished to hear at a time like this. Please keep going... she hoped, watching in wait of the woman's actions.

Sophia

"You did what was right for you, and nothing more" Sophia scowled back at Tekun, noticing the fae fluttering around once more, but ignoring it. She continued to walk away, albeit slower than she had been before. "You took the easiest option open to you. Was it the right one? Maybe. But that is not why you did it. And to pretend otherwise is just egotism on your part. Knowing what is right, is not something any of use can do".

She adjusted her parasol a little, although usually she held it in such a manner as to obscure her face, not for any reason, it was just what she did, here she had to move it to block the rain better. "An Assasain though? Yes, I suppose so. But I have no delusions of being anything else, I do not care about what I do, I do not boast, I do not tell everyone I meet how I am so tragic because I killed so many people... If you actually did that, and gave a damn about any of them, you would honour their memory rather than use them as a tool to justify yourself." she span, looking right at Tekun "You are worse than my Uncle, in so many ways. At least he could admit he was not perfect. Look at you... Its pathetic. You cannot let yourself be wrong can you? You always have to find a reason why what you did was right, the best thing to do. You are pitiable. I look forwards to the day when I put this dog out of its miserable half life".

As she spoke these final words, the wind around her picked up to a massive level, and using it she dashed away, and within seconds she was long gone.

Raenie

Raenie’s emeralds gleamed over in wonder as the summoned winds seemed to sweep Sophia from where she stood and onwards. She hadn’t ever seen someone dash quite so rapidly. Such a sudden departure made her feel as if the blademistress might be able to walk on air, her movements propelled by gusts of whirlwinds and her body light enough so that her feet never even had to touch the ground. Traveling on wind alone must have been a freeing experience to someone so trapped in violent anger as Sophia. The little fae was relieved she had parted without injuring her companion further. After all, he was still in no shape for battle.

Her words were harsh but somehow the faerie wondered if perhaps each stabbing insult might be true? Did Sophia know a side of Tekun Raenie failed to see? Perhaps as their adventures progressed, she would find out more about him and the history he just told of. Even though several of these questions were spiraling in her mind, she knew that standing still in such hostile environments was dangerous, and thus hoped to inspire the party to move. But what about the witch? she wondered as she noticed the silhouette of scarlet still hovering on her broom with jolts of red lightening dancing along her fingers, sparking like fireworks and cackling like fire. “Tekun, perhaps we make like Sophia and leave? This swamp is no place to stand still for long.” Although her words were directed at Tekun, she turned to nod at the witch as she spoke to invite her to follow.

Scarlet Witch

Her eyes widened in amusement as the drama played out, the story was quite tragic, it was no wonder that the assassin was a few hays short of a stack, quite emotionally unstable indeed. Scarlet didn't really pity her, it was more of a disgust, sure she had to resort to a life of violence and what not, but Scarlet was sure there were many other people who had worse lives, heck even she had a terrible childhood. Aside from Aggy her beloved toad, everyone usually ended up betraying her. Especially that old witch, now that was traumatizing, her eyes narrowed at the memory of the old woman. Did what's her face ever get threatened with being thrown into an oven and cooked to perfection? Probably not, but she was still fine. Scarlet shook her head, not everyone it seems had the iron will that she did.

She returned her attention to the scene that played out before her, the woman insulted Tekun a bit more, she had quite the tongue, lashing at him verbally. She thought that she would strike him once more, the red sparks still racing along her fingers as she watched to see if she would raise a finger to Tekun. She didn't really know why she cared so much, perhaps it was her way of paying back the way that Tekun saved her when those bounty hunters arrived. Suddenly, in a gust of air the woman left, she was kind of impressed by the display, not aware that she could do that.

The threat gone, she allowed the sparks to dissipate. The fairy invited her to join them in departure, she shrugged mentally. Might as well go, the fairy was right, it wasn't safe to stay in one place in the swamp. She turned her broom towards them and floated down to their level.

"Yup, we should get going" said Scarlet with a nod "Meanwhile, you can tell me how you managed to get so beaten up Tekun." She may need to learn some sort of healing spell in the future, or even better, a health draining spell that would steal the life force of one thing and give it to another, yes that would be much more fitting for a witch of her magnitude.

Tekun

The fae and the witch both wanted him to leave. Tekun couldn't help but chuckle at the thought. He made a slight effort to get up but found it a bit too strainuous for him.

"Probably best for me not to do any more travel. Unless Scarlet can carry me on the broom of hers, I'm not gonna be able to do much." he gave a sigh. Sophia was a handful, and now he was being urged to rush by his new found companion and the witch he had met earlier.

"Can that thing handle my weight?" Tekun questioned. He made another effort to get up but managed it this time. He pulled the zweihander and then pulled a scroll with a rune from his cloak and rubbed it on his large weapon. As he did this, the rune transfered from paper to steel. When it finally finished the transfer, the blade felt weightless.

"Saved it for such an occassion." Tekun grinned. "It makes things easy for carrying. Only for carrying purposes only."
