Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.

Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

Mjor

Holding onto Alyssa's hand, Mjor walked through the entrance chamber, examing all there was to be examined, the symbols of air, water and earth. Nature. He wondered if the priests here saw the irnoy, in nature the elements all mixed together, the seperation of them was decidely unnatural. Sometimes, he would of out and out told them that, mocked their seperation, but this time, he was with Alyssa. He did not want to embaress her.

The walk here had not been overly long, and it had been nice talking to her. Honestly, looking back he could not remember what they had talked about, it seemed incredibly important at the time, now it was just a happy memory, one forever shrouded in rose tinted glass... No, there was no tint, it deserved its place without him cheapening it by adding to it with his thoughts and ponderings. They walked to Madrid, they had breakfast, Mjor having fruit, wanting to keep it simple, and he had demanded to pay for it all. It was not much, but he was feeling rather wealthy at the moment. He should enjoy that for the short time it lasted, for it was sure to not be forever. Money was a fleeting thing he would always chase, so he had thought. However, he had found out something could make him happier than mere money, and that was why he was here. For her.

"What do we think?" he asked as he examined the hall, walking slowly through to the earth shrine "They certainly do make a nice building" he kept examining everything as he went, like a curious child coming into contact with a subject they do not understand.

As expected they reached the Temple of Nature around noon, she and Mjor had a rather lovely breakfast. They had found a shop where a man sold a whole bunch of foods, he had tables set up outside of his storefront. Alyssa and Mjor both ordered fresh fruits for breakfast, and chatted leisurely while watching the various people shopping or casually walking by. She loved the whole environment of the city, all the plants, all the people, so positive. They left Madrid both in happy spirits talking about a whole bunch of things, none which she could recall now, but the time spent was what mattered most.

He held her hand as they walked into the Temple, she looked at all the pictures depicting scenes of nature. The eagle soaring in the heavens, riding the thermals looking for prey, the deer running freely through plains, a fish jumping out of water. The detail was exquisite, she wondered how long it must have taken for one to create such scenes. Neutral priests dressed in white standing at the door nodded to them as they walked passed. The temple then split into three great corridors, she somewhat remembered it now the earth section was along the middle path.

"Yes" she said, as they walked passed two priests dressed in a rich green "This place is beautiful" Though she didn't like how they separated the elements like that. In Mjor's Glade all elements were clearly together in harmony, there was the temperate wind, the beautiful plants, and the calming waterfall, why was it that they felt that they needed to separate them so? She shrugged it off as they entered the chamber of earth.

There was a definite warmth within the earth chamber, and the light that shone through the ceiling was green due to the tint. Alyssa wasn't sure whether there was an actual floor or whether it was soil, vegetation grew everywhere. She could faintly hear the aged whispers of the various plants around her. It was slightly unnerving even though she knew they meant her know harm, so many different plants in one area was giving her a slight case of claustrophobic-ness. They all had distinctive voices and they were all saying something different, it was like being in a large crowd.

"Alyssa"said a clear voice. She drew closer to Mjor "This really is a beautiful place." she said, attempting to cover any fear in her voice. She tried to ignore the voice that had called her, it had been all part of her mind, just another one of the plants. She mentally said a hello, and focused on something else. Oh yes, the Lily of Sanita, she would have to find that. She scanned the chamber, lined with various plants and a few trees serving as false pillars. It was definitely not going to be easy. "Mjor, I'm looking for a lily, its called the Lily of Sanita, and its golden in colour...and has a bright green stem, could you help me look for it?"

Mjor

Mjor could feel the air warming as they proceeded into the earth chamber. He guessed it was for the plants, as there was also a very slight humidity, which he could just make out from its taste in the air, it was subtle though. They passed a couple or priests in green, and Mjor nodded to them cheerfully, they seemed pleasent enough people, not of course that you could really tell, but they did not have the faces for people who... Well, for people who would employ him, really.

As they got into the earth chamber proper, he felt Alyssa suddenly draw closer to him "This really is a beautiful place." she told him, but something was off. He could not tell what it was, but there was something else there.

"Is everything alright?" he asked, with a slight trace of concern. He was worried that there was something she had expected him to do. What if it was dissapointment in her voice? Was he meant to say or do something? She moved on to ask him about a lily. There was no denying it was a strange request, but, if it was what she wanted "Gold and green? Sure" he told her, a little confused. He was someone who never really bothered with the details of plants, sure he liked to look at them, but he never learnt their names or properties, with the exception of what was edible. Why she wanted this Lily of Sanita was confusing to him. Was it a paticually special plant? He guessed it had something to do with the various potions and powders she made, a thought which calmed him immensly. It was the only reason he could think of why she would want to look at a specific plant in a room full of plants... Unless it was something to do with her mother, she had mentioned that she taught her all about herbology, did this lily hold significance?

It did not matter he realised, what he thought of the reasons. The simplest way to find out would be to ask "What's its importance?" he queried, scanning the undergrowth. he noticed something gold... Or was it yellow? On the far side of the room "Is that it?" he took a step forwards, still holding Alyssa as close to him as she had drawn a minute ago.

Alyssa's mind wandered around the shrubbery, scanning each and every plant her eyes fell upon. So far her search had been in vain, for she had yet to see anything matching the description her mother had given her, perhaps the stem was gold and the petals were bright green, it was quite possible for her to have mixed it up...No. She knew she was right, she just wasn't looking hard enough. It probably would have been better if they split up to go looking for the flower on their own, but she knew that something was out there, something that knew her name. She found that to be rather disconcerting, no matter how hard she tried not to focus on it, her mind returned to it. The voice, sounded so old....was it even alive?

She was slightly startled when Mjor spoke, "Well, my mother says that its a powerful healing plant, every part of it can be used to cure almost anything. It would be handy to have." She glanced over her shoulder, as if looking to see if she could spot the flower, though she knew that she wouldn't, unless by a mere stroke of luck, because the sole reason she was looking was to see if anything was following her. That was the problem with nature, it was neither good, nor evil, so the spirits that dwelt within the temple would live likewise, some would be kind, others would be wicked. She wasn't sure whether whatever had called her name was either wicked or good, she just didn't like it personally.

Mjor noticed something on the far side of the room that she had been too preoccupied to notice. It seemed to be deeper in the brush, not as near to the altar where most of the light fell. In fact it seemed to be somewhat in the shadows, she vaguely saw what he was pointing to, it was a bright yellow speck amongst a bunch of other colours, she would not have noticed it alone. She was glad that Mjor was there with her. They walked together to where Mjor had spotted the flower, they stayed close together, arm in arm, an action that Alyssa was rather grateful.

Before them growing amongst a tangle of vines, populated by violets, and crawling daisies of pink, white, and a pale blue. The flower in questions grew elongated over the rest of the flowers like a king over his subjects. Each petal was a bright golden colour, it had almost a metallic quality, growing lighter in colour as it reached the end of the petal. The stem was green, which she had originally though to be of no importance when she heard it from her mother, but this shade of green was much different, it had an emerald quality, each leaf was heart-shaped and broad and the stem was rigid and thick like a stalk. Alyssa walked over to the flower and knelt before it, touching the petals softly, they were silky smooth beneath her fingertips. This had to be the flower she was searching for.

"Are you...the Lily of Sanita" asked Alyssa mentally.

"Why do you speak in your mind, when you have a voice?"asked the flower, its voice calm and wizened. Alyssa knew right away why she didn't, she was afraid of losing Mjor. Would he think she was crazy talking to a plant? How often had he dealt with the spirits of nature? For her it was a common place thing to do in her life, casually greeting an air nymph as it floated by or a rock nymph sitting beside its cave. She didn't want Mjor to treat her different, she was already a noble, and that had already provided a potential gap between them. Spirits were another thing all together. She felt slightly guilty, why would she judge Mjor like that? It was clear that he loved her with all his being, as did she...but she wasn't sure if she was ready to share that part of her life yet.

"Do you give enough credit to your love, young sprout" spoke the flower. Alyssa stared at the flower, it was clear it was not any normal type of flower, it must be the Lily of Sanita. The flower...had read her mind. "You have answered your own question." stated the plant contentedly. "Now answer mine" Alyssa had no intention of answering the plant, it was a plant, and she was human. "What difference does that make?" She did not like being the tale end of a one sided conversation.

"This is it" she said cheerily to Mjor, while examining the plant further. Nothing would be weird about a bit of plant magic...she was sure plenty of mages would be able to do it in one way or another. Resting her hand on the stem of the plant, she willed it to grow another flower. Nothing happened. "I refuse to grow" stated the plant. Alyssa sighed, and hung her head, for a plant, it sure was stubborn.

"Alright..."said Alyssa out loud, not even bothering to look over her shoulder "Please, Lily of Sanita" she placed her hand on the stem, it felt notably warm under her hand, whether it was the Lily preparing to grow, or the sheer smugness of the plant she wasn't quite sure "Please grow" she must have looked like a fool talking to a flower. The Lily quickly sprouted five stems from the main stem, at each end a bud formed which soon quickly bloomed sending a shower of pollen into the air around both her and Mjor. Alyssa sneezed, and held out her hand, one of the lower flowers spit out a group of seeds into the palm of her hand. She planted the seeds into the soil around the plant, each began to sprout rapidly, some starting to sprout even before she put them in the ground. The youthful cheers of the new Lily of Sanitas surrounded her as she planted in a feverish state, not bothering to stop once, the urged her onwards as she planted until she collapsed. Their voices grew silent as she fell unconscious, a bunch of the seeds still in her hand.

Mjor

The two of them looked aroudn the garden, arms entwined. Mjor had to admit it was quite pleasent, although it felt more claustraphobic than back in the Glade, where the open sky was a constant reminder of freedom... And he loved nature for its representation of freedom more than for its own sake. He also liked it for its pure classlessness, something that was man made and... He stopped himself. Was Alyssa not a noble? That caused a little conflict, he tended to view the nobles as foolish, weak, pathetic and only worth dealing with because they were rich and lazy enough to hire others easily. And yet Alyssa defied that view heavily, then again, she did not carry herself like a stuffy noble, she did so like someone who was free and careless. Her parents did not sound that sort he was used to either, he certainly got the impression that the main use of a daugther, to a nobleman, was to marry her off to another noble... And here she was, roaming the beautiful wild, unfathomable world they lived in. Then again, letting her run free was one thing, accepting a bloodstained common mercenary like Mjor as her lover was quite another...

She seemed slightly ill at ease, Mjor noticed as she explained the lily to him, and glanced back. Something was not quite right... Was the Lily some kind of secret? Did she have some other reason for being here... Mjor's mind jumped back to a dark place, could he be being manipulated again! No... No, Alyssa was not like that, not at all... But something was up. He kept one eye on her, a little concerned. She kept close to him as they crossed the room, which now he was looking, seemed to confirm his thoughts. However, he had to release her arm when she knelt down to see the lily, he knelt next to her, and looked at it... It was nice, yes, but nothing overly special to look it... There was something of an air of majesty to it, though, he had to admit.

She seemed to concentrate on the lily for a little, just looking at it. Mjor just assumed that she was identifying it, double checking it was what she was looking for and... And then what? It looked to be the only one here, so he doubted they would be allowed to take it, even a sample. Just what kind of game was she playing, why did she need to know what it was? Was it enough to say a flower was beautiful, without knowing what it was called? Was she trying to steal a sample, perhaps... No, it did not look like it, she was just... Thinking about something. He frowned ever so briefly as he tried to work out just quite what was going on here. "This is it" she told him, which he nodded to, although still unsure of what was to happen now.

It turned out she placed her hand on it, and Mjor began to wonder if she was plannign to steal it. He had not thought her the type to do such a thing, and he glanced around nervously to check they were not being watched. What happened next was more shocking. She... She spoke to it? He had heard speaking to plants could be relaxing, but this was not the same at all. And... She was asking it to grow. He shifted a little uncomfortably, unsure quite who Alyssa was all of a sudden, although part of him relaxed when it did grow, he was still unsure as why she needed to speak. She rapidly planted the new seeds, each one growing quickly, and a look of concentration on her face. It was like she was possessed, something was strange, he regretted bringing her here... He was scared to say anything that might break her concentration.

And then she collapsed. Mjor's battle hardened reflexes immediatly kicked in, and he sprang forwards, immediatly grabbing her before she fell onto the plants she had just grown "Alyssa!" he called out, worried despite all the doubts that had just flooded into his mind. He pulled her back, so she was resting in the crook of his arm "Alyssa" he repeated "What is it?" his voice full of concern. He looked about, nothing. He cursed, and picked her up, bridal style, and carried her back through to the main room, meeting a green robed priest in the hallway, who looked at him strangely. "She just collapsed as we were looking at the plants... Do you have a bed?" he asked, his panic evident, but fading as his more combat oriented self came to the fore, and took command of the situation, blocking out as much as it could other than what he needed to do.

The priest seemed to understand his worry, and swiftlyy lead him through a door Mjor would not have noticed, and there was a few beds. Mjor took two which were close together, and rested Alyssa on one of them. He looked over her, checked that she was breathing, before looking up to the priest. "I will go fetch someone more medically inclined, if you wish?" he asked, to which Mjor nodded, the priest left. Mjor slowly unhooked her bag, and put it on the other bed, along with her staff and anything else bulky and unnessecary, before finding the seeds in her hands... Unsure of what to do, he wrapped them up in a small piece cloth he ripped of a larger piece he kept to use to bandage any wounds he recieved. Only after this, did he look back at her... He hoped it was nothing bad. Did she know this was going to happen? She did seem nervous before. All doubts vanished as he grasped onto her hand, and looked into her closed eyes, wishing she would open them.

"Come on Alyssa... This isn't funny" he asked her, his battle hardened facade falling now he was alone with her.

Alyssa woke up to the sound of birds chirping, she looked around, where was Mjor? She sat up, and found herself in a great garden. Shrubs, roses, fruit trees, and well designed flower beds were spread throughout the garden. The gentle gurgling of a round fountain filled with lily pads that floated on the surface. A gentle breeze blew through the garden bringing with it the various scents of the garden, scents of spices and flowers mixed together pleasantly. The grass was lush and thick, reminding her of the grand rugs within her home.

A woman in a flowing orange gown stepped out from a tree casually with a tray. Her hair was greying to almost silver. It was clear that she was an elderly woman, but she stood tall without a slouch. "Get up my dear, the orange tea is ready" she said to Alyssa kindly, yet sternly. Alyssa not exactly sure where she was, and dreadfully worried about Mjor followed the woman to an outdoor table covered in a white tablecloth where she placed the tray on the table. Which had been set with two teacups, small plates, and small platters with various orange treats, orange pie, orange jelly, orange tarts and orange cake. A steaming pot sat in the middle of the table which the woman poured for herself and Alyssa, who nodded her thanks while she sat down.

"No, no, dear, you say thank you." she chided "None of this nodding nonsense you are a lady." She stirred her cup while Alyssa drank some of the tea, it was orange tea, why was the woman so obsessed with orange? She wondered while looking at the spread of the table. "Well, I must say that I am pleased my plan has gone through as I wished." said the woman while placing a napkin lightly on her lap and flattening it so that not a wrinkle appeared.

"Your plan?" asked Alyssa confused, afterwards taking a bite of an orange tart.

"Chew like you're hiding a secret my dear" clucked the woman "Yes, my plan. A minor possession really, but you got the job done" she wiped her mouth with a white napkin and wiped the rim of her cup before taking another sip of the tea.

"Are you the Lily of Sanita?" asked Alyssa, becoming impatient with the woman, and slowly beginning to think that everything, the garden and everything within was an illusion of some sort.

"Oh no, I am Olanna, a nymph in a sense" she paused "Somewhat like you" She chuckled for reasons unknown. Alyssa stood up, this was all a waste of time, she wanted to go back to the temple, she wanted to go back to Mjor. She couldn't imagine how worried he must have been about her. "Sit down dear" said Olanna sternly, Alyssa complied with the woman's wishes despite wanting to leave "So you are the seed of Gardenia." she nodded to herself "Well anyways the plan. Well I merely needed you to grow a few Lily of Sanitas. I must say, you're not as good as your grandmother has credited you. Had to take over midway though."

"So why am I here?" asked Alyssa.

"Didn't you coming here for a blessing?" she said, her voice suddenly sounding much older and weathered. It became cooler in the garden and the sun was covered by clouds, and an autumn wind blew stray leaves, before quickly returning to the cheery summer atmosphere. Olanna raised her hands towards the sky and spoke. However it hadn't been in the common tongue, she was speaking the ancient sing song tongue she had heard before as a child. Alyssa looked down at herself, nothing seemed to be happening, perhaps she had done the blessing incorrectly. She crumpled to the ground unconscious.

She heard a faint voice calling her, it sounded familiar, Mjor? Mjor! Her eyelids fluttered as she recollected what had happened to her. Had it all been a dream? She thought she could vaguely smell the scent of orange. She opened her eyes, Mjor's worried face was the first thing she saw. Was this another dream? She was in a small bed, her head propped up by a pillow, in an unfamiliar room. She sat up on the bed, and hugged him, she didn't like him to be worried about her. "Mjor?" she asked quite puzzled "Where are we?"

Mjor

The priest who supposedly knew medicine was useless. He looked over her, and told Mjor that nothing was wrong. Of course something was wrong! His... He wasn't really sure what to describe her as... Alyssa had collapsed! That was not normal. He had argued with the man briefly, but when he turned and left Mjor found that he could not leave Alyssa alone, so he let him go.

He stayed like this for a while, just watching over her, waiting for some sign of movement or action, any difference in breathing. There was nothing at all for near enough twenty minutes. And then she moved a little. Mjor immediatly was right by her "Alyssa?" he asked, concerned. Nothing, although she appeared to look different now, he could nto tell how, but moments ago she had looked serene, and now she... Just looked different somehow. He brushed her hair off her face, something he had done before, but had taken on a routine quality now, and noticed... What was that smell? He moved in closer to her. It was definate, her breath had an ever so slight smell of orange to it. What on earth was that about?

Suddenly, she twitched a little, which startled him, "Alyssa... Can you hear me?" he asked, just before she slowly, magically, fluttered those enchanting eyes of hers open, and sat up, hugging him. He returned the favour, hugging her strongly, holding him to her so as not to let her get away from him "You scared me" he told her, relief dripping from his toungue as he spoke. "We are in the temple still, a back room the priests let people who need to stay for a night use... I carried you here when you collapsed" he continued to hold her close to him "What happened? Why? Was it something to do with that lily? Is there something wrong? Can I help? Do you need anything?" he spilled out desperatly, wanting to help, the confusion she caused him earlier completely out of mind, for now.

The solid touch of Mjor seemed to reassure her that she had in fact returned back to her plane of living, and not trapped eternally in Olanna's garden. The thought of being stuck with such a fussy nymph for eternity was almost frightening. Eating orange flavoured things...forever. She nuzzled Mjor's neck as he told her what had happened to her while she was unconscious and where the were. She was glad they were still in the temple, they could perhaps stop in the other two sanctuaries before leaving for their next destination.

Alyssa abruptly stopped when he had asked what had happened to her. What would she say? Would she lie? Tell him that she was just a bit tired from last night's ordeal....It sounded quite plausible, he'd believe it...he had no reason not too. No. The whole thought of lying to Mjor was stomach churning. No relationship could last with a foundation of lies, it sounded rather cheesy in her head, but it was true. Mjor would most definitely have to know eventually if she was to stay with him. She couldn't tell him all at once though, that could be fatal to the relationship, like pushing someone into a pool of water, he would have to get used to the idea of her not being the average human.

"Well" started Alyssa not exactly sure how she would start, though hoping that what she said was going to make sense. "You see, I can kind of interact with spirits of nature" Yes, that was the truth, she was just like those channeller people, except she wasn't dealing with ghosts. "I suppose the nature spirit just needed me to magically grow more of those Lilies, its nothing to worry about" she put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "See I'm fine." Not too much not too little, now all she had to do left was wait for Mjor's reaction.

Mjor

Mjor continued to hold Alyssa close to him, as if scared at what would happen if he let go. If they really did love each other, than that would have to include this suffocating, over protective love along with every other type. He wondered if that would ruin it all...

She seemed to pause and think about her answer. Mjor felt his heart drop. Was it because she did not want to tell him? Did she not trust him, een after Mjor had told her deepest, darkest secret, spilt his hidden guilt, to her? It couldn't be... Could it? He hoped it wasn't, but he felt doubt sneak into his mind... He tried to push it out, but it stayed there, one of his old insecurites resurfacing nicely to sabotage his life.

"So... Your just a seer?" he replied, after a moment which he used to wrap his head around it "But a nature seer?" he sounded ever so slightly dejected as he spoke, wishing for something to put his niggling doubt to rest. But he knew there was nothing that would. Was this it? Was this doomed to fail because of his insecurties? Or because she didn't trust him enough? He did not blame her, he was a good for nothing blood soaked common waste of space, she was a kind, beautiful, talented noble. "So you can stay with me now?" he asked, his voice full of hope "You don't need to do anything else? It won't call you again, this isnt a regular thing?" he pulled her even closer, amazed that he could "I don't want that to happen again... I was so afraid... I love you" he whispered, desperatly wanting her to reply with something to confirm his darkest fears were not true.

They couldn't be. He told himself, she loved him as much as he loved her. She had to. He smelt the soft fragrence of her skin, and tried to use it to push all doubts away, he was just being insecure, of course she would be confused after something like that. The actual issue was unimportant, he loved her for who she was, not what she was, it was just... Please he thought Prove my fears wrong

He came closer to her, it was like the warmth from his heart was breaking her down, forcing her to tell the whole truth. Why was she so afraid? Mjor loved her, would he really toss her aside because she wasn't entire human? Who was anyways? Everyone probably had a bit of dwarf, maybe a bit of giant or elf or troll. She knew that she could trust Mjor, but she couldn't understand why she was keeping such vital information from him. Was she going to hide her grandmother from him forever? Maybe it wasn't the fact that she was afraid of Mjor finding out but maybe she was afraid of fully revealing herself as basically a nymph. He said that he loved her, she couldn't take it any longer, she was drowning in her guilt.

"Mjor..." she said softly "I-I don't deserve your love." Alyssa looked down at her lap guiltily she couldn't bare to stare into his compassionate eyes."To tell you the truth I'm not a seer...I don't even know if I'm really human. Well, I'm pretty human because my father and the rest of his family is but my mother she's part nymph....and my grandmother is a wood nymph. And somehow it skipped my mother well not really but I'm much more attuned to my gifts it doesn't really make me a nymph well sort of Though I still have so much to learn...but I'm not sure if I want to learn. Sometimes I want to be normal...I can hear plants talking, I can talk to plants...I talked to the plants in the glade, and I talked to the Lily of Sanita." All of this came rushing out uncontrollably as she spoke, she may as well lay all her cards on the table if she was planning on telling him everything. It was near rambling and she wasn't sure even if Mjor had understood her. She was sure he was going to be displeased with her, she wondered where she would go next all alone...she might as well go home. She kept her head down as she fidgeted with her hands.

Mjor

She told him everything. Or it sounded like everything, at least. The rambling style she said it all made it sound like she wasn't thinking of what she was saying, and thus not holding any back. Was this what she scared of telling him? She thought that mattered? How... Cute, how quaint.

Mjor ran one hand under her chin, and gently pulled her face up so she was looking at him "Alyssa..." he whispered softly, gently, passionatly, and then he kissed her in the same manner, it was the simplest way to prove it did not change anything at all. Well, it had other bonuses to, it was pretty much a bonus in itself.

After he looked into her eyes, and with a slight smile told her "I did not fall in love with you because you were human, you could be nymph, elf or anything else, and I would feel exactly the same way". He reached down, and took her hands in his "It does not matter what you in this life, but who you are. And who you are is... Kind, lovely, compassionate, beautiful, funny and charming". His mind looked back over the time he had spent with her... Yes, it made sense he guessed, although talking to plants was a little odd... He had always assumed plants to not really have any thoughts, and just exist. But he was a big enough man to admit he was sometimes wrong. He also found him wondering if her nymph heritage was the reason why in the tavern, what felt like years ago now, he had been so drawn to her... It did not matter, he was here now, so he had to live with here. Not that it was a chore, his life seemed to be in a good place. "So don't say you don't deserve my love" he added "Because your stuck with it now, for better or worse".

Alyssa heard nothing for a few seconds, would Mjor get up and leave her straight away, or would he do something terrible before leaving? She could never imagine Mjor doing either thing to her, she wanted to cry, she should have told him from the start, save her the time and pain she was feeling right now. Her unrealized fantasy coming to a quick and sad end, no adventures, no Mjor no anything. She didn't expect Mjor to be the hitting type of man, but she knew that mercenaries were capable of smothering emotions while they fought, would he strike her without thinking twice? No. He would never, he had said he loved her, she was taken to his secret glade, they had kissed in the rainbow display, they had slept under the stars together.

His hands glided under her chin, and lifted her face so that his eyes stared into his. She saw no hate, no rage, or fear in them. He whispered her name, his voice laced with passion, could it be? She loved him for who she was, and not what she was? Her other grandmother on her father's side Lady Margaret, whom she rarely visited, always told Alyssa that her powers were a nuisance, unladylike and made her a mixbreed. Had those harsh words and emotions managed to worm their way into her heart? Had she been secretly afraid all this time, is this truly why she didn't want to get married? He kissed her. All her worries washed away with a flood of passionate love that always emanated from Mjor. She loved him so much, she should have never doubted him or mistrusted him.

Alyssa smiled as Mjor told her what she really was, and held her hand with his. She never thought of herself as funny, charming, or even all that beautiful. It wasn't until recently that she had even begun paying attention to herself in the mirror, actually checking if she was really as beautiful as Mjor constantly said, comparing her to the breathtaking beauties of nature. Everything seemed to mean so much more when he said it. She would now live to be herself, despite what her unkind grandmother had said. In fact, she couldn't wait to introduce both sets of grandparents to Mjor. The shocking dismay of grandmother Margret's face to hear that she would elope a commoner would be the icing on top of the cake.

"For better or worse?" asked Alyssa mischievously, her mood clearly brightened "Might you be hinting at something?" she laughed and stood up. Surprisingly enough her legs didn't wobble she thought she was going to be weak or something; she had never experienced a possession before. She took her bag which was hung around the head of one of the small beds. It was well into the afternoon, but she still wanted to see the rest of the temple. "I think we have time to visit another one of the chambers before dark, which one would you like to go to?" she asked.

Mjor felt his whole body relax as he saw that Alyssa accepted what he said, that she understood that he did not care what she was, as long as who she was stayed just as it was. He hoped her mind was at ease with it now... If she could accept him, despite him being flawed the whole way through, he could accept her being slightly different. He would always accept differences in people, who was he to judge?

"For better or worse?" Alyssa replied to him, mischief dancing in her eyes "Might you be hinting at something?". He realised quite where those words came from. Marriage. Was she really thinking about that already? Suddenly, every muscle in his body screamed at him to run, get as far away as he could. He couldn't possibly marry anyone, he was a roamer, he never settled down to any extent, he was a free spirit. He calmed himself a little, hopefully before anything showed. Of course he did not need to deal with marriage. Not for a while, anyway. She was just making a joke, because thats how his words had came across... But... Mjor realised, if he were going to get married, the only person he could imagine doing it with would be her. Mjor still felt a little strange about it, not liking the fact that a ceremony was needed to let each oter know how you felt... But... That was a potent reminder of how different their backgrounds were. She was a noble, and to them marriage took on this special signifcance, binding two families together... She had probably been raised with the idea her duty was to marry firmly implanted by society. Or was it he who was at fault here? Was it really a great show of affection, that he just did not understand, isolated as he was from most of the world, and then when he wasn't blanking any serious romantic emotion out.

Whatever way round it was, he realised one day, he would marry Alyssa. He had to. when he put it on his mental to do list, somehow it seemed much less scary. However, that was a while away yet. "Me? Hint at something? Never!" he scoffed with a sarcastic smirk "I wouldn't know how". She stood up and asked which other chamber he would like to visit. Mjor thought for a moment, and then had an idea.
"Why don't I show you?" he grinned, and placed his arms behind her back and legs, scooping her up into his arms. He was not sure if it was because she was very light, or because his lifestyle and training regime had meant he was very strong, but it was easy to carry her. Not waiting to hear any cries of protest, he proceeded to the door, preparing to head for the water room.

One moment she was examining the contents of the bag, checking to see if she had all of her belongings within it, she was glad to find a few of the Lily of Sanita seeds inside her bag, the next moment was filled with confusion and amusement, for she soon found herself swept off her feet literally, finding herself in Mjor's arm. Without any pause whatsoever Mjor left the dormitory. Alyssa rested her hand on his chest, enjoying the ride, despite how unusual it must have looked to those they passed. They were a young couple it was sure to be understandable. She loved how Mjor was never afraid to show that he loved her. It was like everything he did was in thought of her, it made her smile.

They entered the main hall back where the tapestries hung splendidly. A set of priests in plain white walked by them, and nodded casually as they passed. It seemed like it was what they enjoyed doing around here, nodding, nodding, nodding. Priests dressed in green were flocked around the earth sanctuary for reasons she was not quite sure off. Was it because of the sudden flourish of the Lily of Sanita? She hoped they thought they had accomplished it themselves, she didn't want to draw too much attention to herself...or to be possessed by Olanna once again.

He turned away from the earth sanctuary and headed down the other hall, a growing murmur could be heard as they neared the water sanctuary. It was the tell tale sound of a waterfall, which churned the waters serving as a pump. The entire sanctuary smelled of fresh water, a smell she found distinctively different from water collected from a well. Swinging her legs over Mjor's arm she landed on her feet with her hand still holding onto Mjor's. She led him over to the large pool of water. So still and motionless, clean and pure. A startled koi fish caused a small part of the water to ripple, but even that seemed perfect. She breathed in deeply. Alyssa also enjoyed things connected to water, for without water there is no life, especially plant life. She stared at her reflection in the pool of water her mind slightly adrift. Thinking about her home, her parents, her grandparent, her best friend Phoebe....she felt slightly guilty for having not thought of her in a great while...she would have to tell her about Mjor eventually. The whole atmosphere seemed peaceful and relaxing.

The walk to the water sanctury seemed to be so short, it seemed like it took no time at all. Mjor did wonder what the priests thought of them as they passed, he had been carrying her like this earlier, but earlier he had to admit, she did not have the option of walking herself... Well, if they did not like it, then tough luck for them. He wanted to carry her to the water sanctury, an action which was partly out of concern for her, she may have been acting as if she was fine, but she had been out for a little while, she could have been putting it on. And if she wasn't, well, it was a nice gesture, and after her insecurity about herself coming to light, she needed to see how much he loved her.

It was interesting about her nymph qualities though, as finally Mjor had something he thought he could pin down about why, when she walked into the bar, he had been so enthralled right off the bat. But was that really the reason? He was sure Alyssa would have been just as beautiful where she not part nymph. No, it could not of been that... It just must have been some kind of fate, perhaps some type of God had decided to take pity on him, and had gifted her to him, or maybe, and this was the one he leaned towards, there was no reason, nothing behind it, and all that happens was just a series of coincedences, which somehow led here, to this wonderous, surreal place.

Once they got to the water sancturary, he felt Alyssa start to swing herself out of his arms, he lowered his left arm (which was under her legs) a little to make it easier for her, and then followed as she led him by his hand to the waters edge. A fish moved about, Mjor was not overly sure what type it was, but it was an edible one, which left the little section of the water alone. Well, not quite, there was still the reflection of Alyssa. Mjor, still behind her from where she led him here, rested his head on her left shoulder, and put his free arm around her waist and holding her to his chest. He had expected this to make it look like the reflection had two heads, but it was easy to tell it was two people, Mjor being a little taller and broader than Alyssa. He wondered if she would have thought that childish. Maybe.

He had to admit, he liked this better than the earth sanctury, which seemed to... Closed in, so pack with plant life as to shove it down your throat. Here was more... He hesitated to think it, but natural. He decided not to tell Alyssa this, she probably loved the varied conversation of the earth room. "This feels... Relaxing" he sighed into her ear, before coming out of his strange hug with her to kneel down by the water (keeping hand contact), and place a finger into the water, making a tiny ripple. With a grin, he then made a small splash at her, before looking up at the woman he loved.

Standing closely, side by side, only added to the perfectness that was the water sanctuary. However, similarly to the earth sanctuary there was a sense of separation or that something was missing. The unnatural separation of the elements got to her a bit, they could of at least had one main sanctuary with all the elements together, oh well, it wasn't she who constructed the temple, and it wasn't like she had any say in the way it was run either. Whoever had the temple constructed probably had his or her own logical reason for its design. She looked into the pool of water, reflecting their images perfectly, they made a rather cute couple. Mjor's arm around her waist while her head rested on his chest. She wished she could keep the image forever, it was something she would hang on the wall above a grand fireplace, sadly she didn't think a painter would be able to catch the beauty of their scene as the pool had.

He shared the same thought as her, she realized. He too also found this place to have a calming quality. He placed his finger into the water causing it to ripple, she watched the ripples intensely and was surprised when water splashed at her. "Hey" she said laughing while kneeling beside the water and splashing Mjor as well, skimming her hand against the surface of the water as she scooped the water.

Mjor smiled as he saw a laugh cross Alyssa's face. It was a good look for her, and one he hoped he would see many times more. But could he... An image of her sitting along, sobbing, on the side of a moth eaten bed sprang to mind. That could happen. To think he could cause that... It knotted his stomach in all the wrong ways.

However, before he could dwell further on this he felt the cool, but not cold, water that Alyssa had splashed at him land upon his face and neck. He grinned like a child, and splashed her back more, and shifted his footing. However, the ground was slippery from the water and he stumbled a little, tumbling into the water, which made rather more of a splash. Initially he struggled as his arms got tangled with his cape and glaive (Always a troublesome weapon to carry), but he soon freed himself, and began to tread water. He laughed heartily, largely to show Alyssa he was fine, but also to take his mind off the fact the water was much colder when you were actually in it.

He shook his head a little "You win then" he told Alyssa, before he began to unhook his glaive with his left hand, placing it back on the ground. The length of the weapon would have made it tough to climb out with. His cape, which had become staggeringly heavy, soon followed. Only then did he start climbing out himself, raising his hand to Alyssa in a silent request for help. He could not stop smiling though, even when he noticed one of his bags of gold was missing...

Alyssa doubled over laughing at Mjor's plight, a frightened school of koi fish scattered as he splashed into the water. It was so sudden, she hadn't expected him to fall into the pool of water. She briefly wondered if he was even allowed to be in the water, she shrugged, in nature people swim in water so it should be alright. She watched as Mjor placed his glaive on the side of the pool along with his cape, both must have been heavy with the addition of waterlogged weight. He extended his hand for her help to pull him out of the water. She took off her cape not wanting it to get splashed, and grabbed onto his hand with both her hands.

Faint giggles managed to slip as she looked at Mjor in the water. He looked adorable drenched in water, would a child of her's look the same way, while he or she learned to swim or was given a bath. That was something she would take care of though, she wouldn't have just any old servant bathe her children, she would roll up her sleeves and do it herself. She hadn't had a nice warm bath in quite awhile either. She remembered the scents of lavender, strawberry and vanilla twirling together in the hot steam. Oh well, such was the price of being an adventurer, the luxuries of life would have to be put aside for the time being.

She pulled, remembering once again the task at hand, attempting to help Mjor out of the water. "Are you sure you don't want to stay in there?" she teased "You seem to be having a rather lovely swim."

Alyssa grabbed onto his hand, and Mjor gripped hers in responce. She asked if he wanted to stay in for a swim "That depends" Mjor smiled "Will you come in with me?" he made a gentle movement to pull her in, however, he was careful to make sure it would not actually do so. He smiled after, and began to climb out, getting out of the water, and shaking himself off in a over the top manner, getting water everywhere. It was then he felt his belt. He was missing money... Most of it. He looked back to the water with a panic, kneeling down at the side, peering into the depths... Where was it? He could not see it. Damn! Dejectedly standing up, he began to count what money he had left as he stripped to the waist and removed his boots (which were full of water in a somewhat comedic fashion). He had about enough left to last him four days... But with Alyssa here as well, it would be less... Looked like he would need to get a job... And he had wanted to spend time with Alyssa, not needing to do anything and caring about nothing so badly. He sighed.

"It looks like I am going to need to get a job soon" he dejectedly told her, after he finished removing all the waterlogged clothing he felt he could remove in what was a public place "Most of my money is in there somewhere" he added. "I thought we would beable to spend more time together before I had to do this... Sorry"

Her eyes widened as he pretended to pull her into the water along with him, for she knew without a doubt that he most certainly had the strength to pull her into the waters. Her feelings of falling were short lived for it seemed to be a false gesture, she smiled and mentally noted she would get him back. He climbed out of the water looking like a merman fresh from the sea, he was handsome no matter what situation he was in. Her imagery was brought to an abrupt close as he shook himself, spraying water everywhere, including herself. "Hey!" Alyssa exclaimed raising her arms in front of her face. He said nothing comical in return, she was slightly puzzled, was something the matter with Mjor? He knelt down beside the pool which still rippled slightly from Mjor's disturbance, and he stared into its depths.

Alyssa considered whether to walk over to his side to see what he could possibly be looking at. She couldn't see anything in the darkness of the depths of the water. He stood up, a look of disappointment creased his face. Perhaps he had lost something while in the water? Her assumptions may have been true for he began to count his money while removing the wet articles of clothing on his body, stripping to his waist, and poured out a rather surprisingly large amount of water from within his boots. He sighed, she walked over to his side and placed a hand on his slightly wet shoulder. She felt sorry for him, and wished that she knew some sort of spell that would dry his clothing, it was the least she could do.

He told her he was going to have to get a job, in a rather dejected manner. Alyssa was confused, did Mjor not enjoy his job? She thought he said that he enjoyed the lifestyle of a mercenary. He nodded in the direction of the pool of water, telling her that most of the money had sunk to its light deprived depths. She walked to the side of the pool looking down into the water, perhaps some sort of plant lived deep within, seaweed or kelp of some sort, but it was probably much too great a distance for her to make contact with the plant. No water nymphs happened to be playing by the waterfall which river nymphs were renowned, such was the plight of having an unnatural waterfall.

While she thought about possible ways she could get at the bags of money Mjor told her that he had wanted to spend more time with her. That was the reason he was so upset? Her heart fluttered, Mjor truly was the perfect man for her. She got up and despite the wet hair that clung to his face, she slid it aside and kissed him gently upon his lips. "There is nothing to be sorry about" she said cheerily "While you go and find your next customer I can sell a bit of the potions I've made." She hugged him, the wetness of his body dampening her clothing, "We should stay her for the night" she suggested "The priests can have your clothing dried thoroughly by tomorrow morning."

Taking up her bag and her cloak she couldn't help but smile while she held out her cloak to Mjor. It was clearly a woman's cloak, rather slimming and embroidered with darker shades of green into the shapes of blooming flowers. "It might not be the most manly of cloaks...but I suppose it's dry" she said while smothering a laugh with a cough.

Alyssa walked over to the pool, and looked in... It was fruitless, really. Mjor guessed it would be long gone by now, lost to the depths forever. What a waste... Not only had he lost money, one of his great loves, but he also now would have to spend time away from Alyssa, the only one he loved more. Life just wasn't fair sometime, it could not even let them have a week together in perfect bliss. Spending time with her was more important to him than money, but he needed it to survive.

She brushed the wet hair from his face and kissed him, an act which took Mjor entirely by suprise. By the time he realised what had happened and responded, the kiss was over, those soft, perfectly formed lips moving away from him. He smiled as she spoke and hugged him, she did not seem to care that it would make her damp also. He was glad he had found someone so special, someone who accepted him... He also was glad that she seemed to have tacitly accepted the fact she could not come with him on his job, something he had been scared of talking to her about, he was glad she would just be selling potions whilst he worked... He hoped she did mean that. If she came with him... It would be dangerous. He would not let her walk into danger like that. "It probably is best if we stay here" he told her, suddenly noticing how different it was not to be alone with his next line "I will see if I can get us those same two beds next to each we were on earlier". Two beds. Strange... Usually he went for one, even if, no, especially if he was with a girl. Love had a strange way of maturing him, in that regard.

She then offered him her cloak, and he could not help but chuckle at the reveral from last night, where he had offered her his "Well, surely this is the wrong way around" he said, still chuckling "But thankyou... I would love to borrow your cloak" he placed it gently around his shoulders... His nostrils were filled with a scent that had become oh so familiar oh so quickly, and he loved that fact, he noticed he was getting a little lost in the enchanting smell of Alyssa, and snapped back to reality "I would be thankful for anything dry... But something of yours is more valuable than anything of anyone elses, you know?" he leaned in and kissed her forehead, not wanting to get her any more water on her than there was already.

Mjor put on the cloak, which would at least keep him warmer than any of his clothing which were all drenched. Alyssa smiled as he kissed her forehead. It was settled then, they would spend the night in the temple, then tomorrow he'd go find a customer while she sold some of her herbs, then together they'd go on whatever mission had been assigned for them, and then they'd be free to travel where they pleased once again. She was slightly shocked that Mjor hadn't asked her to stay behind while he went on the mission. Normally most men would want their woman to stay home while they fought or did something dangerous, she didn't think to much about it. It was probably just another reason why she and Mjor got along so well.

Looking back at the pool as she turned back towards the corridor that led out, she gazed at the entire water sanctuary. The water had returned to its previous still state, and the koi had come out of hiding. The waterfall splashed and the altar stood perfectly. She wasn't too worried about making an offering of any sort, firstly none of the spirits of nature needed money, and secondly an accidental good chunk of Mjor's money was more than enough for an offering. She took Mjor's hand into her's and they walked down the corridor, leading them back to the main hall. They passed two priests dressed in blue who looked at Mjor with a puzzled expression. There was no longer a cluster of priests gathering around the opening to the earth chamber.

"Excuse me" said Alyssa to one of the neutral priests dressed in white. "We would like two beds for the night please. His clothing also got a bit wet by accident could you please have them cleaned for tomorrow morning."

"It would be my pleasure" replied the priest in a very calm and slow manner. Alyssa smiled her thanks, she loved the atmosphere of the temple, it made her feel relaxed. He walked down a familiar corridor lined with lit torches that hung in wall brackets. She only vaguely remembered where they were going because she had been unconscious the first time she went through, and too busy staring at Mjor while he carried her out to the water sanctuary. However when the priest opened an inconspicuous door she knew they were in the room they had been in earlier. She saw the two beds that were closer than the others, and the bed that she had been in still had its sheets dishevelled.

"I will take your wet clothing now" said the priest standing with a white robe in his hands held out to Mjor. "You may use this for the night"

After taking a last look at the pool, Mjor felt Alyssa's hand snake into his. It was amazing how perfectly they fit together... As they began to walk away he entiwned his fingers with hers, ignoring the confused looks of priests as they walked back to the central room. He did not care what they thought, he had never been one to overly fret over the thoughts of others, and those priests were others. Alyssa though, wasn't. She was... Part of his life now. If she were to go... Mjor could not think about it. She wouldn't, he was sure of it. It would be the two of them for as long as he could imagine, wandering the world, ignoring whatever happened and just... Enjoying every moment.

She seemed to take the lead in talking to the priest, so he hung back, letting him lead them back to the room. Once there he thanked the priest, and exchanged his soaked clothes for some dry white robes. He took the robes, and walked behind a section of wall, changing the last of his wet clothes for them, before handing them to the priest also with a smile and another thankyou. Once the priest had left he looked down at himself.

"This is weird" he stated, moving a little. He had never been used to robes... He handed Alyssa back her cloak. "I never thought I would be dressed as a priest." he laughed a little, and took a seat on the bed, but not in such a way as to suggest he was tired. Quite the opposite, minutes ago he ahd been plunged into the water, he was well awake. He slowly set his weapons down on the floor, pushing them under the bed, before looking back at Alyssa "So, could you love Mjor the priest as much as Mjor the mercenary?" he asked, spreading his arms wide, brushing some strands of wet hair from his face. He grinned a little cheesily too, still amused by the absurdity of the situation... Him dressed as a priest... Well, it had happened once before, but he had drank too much, and the priest had been rather less willing to switch clothes than this one. Admittedly, the next day him and the priest in question laughed about it, and had a good time before Mjor moved on, but even so... Mjor felt a little ridicolous.

Mjor called his priest's apparel weird, and Alyssa had to agree, however it wasn't a bad weird it was just different from his usual clothing, quite conservative as opposed to his normal clothing. Barely any skin showed while he wore the robe, unlike his normal clothing where his chizelled chest could be seen. She laughed at the idea of Mjor the priest, walking through dark corridors and wandering the depths of expansive libraries. Hobbling around with his back hunched over, his handsome face hidden in the shadow of a hood. Just about as stereotypical as it could get.

She walked over and sat on her bed directly across from Mjor. She slung her bag off her shoulder and it landed softly on her bed, which she straightened the ruffled edges of the sheet, the temple's revitalizing as well as her unintentional rest when she fainted made her feel well rested, and not quite ready to sleep yet. He asked her whether she loved Mjor the priest or Mjor the mercenary better, she laughed again at the thought of Mjor the priest, while taking out some bushels of tied herbs together with her pestle and mortar.

"Hmm...I say I like Mjor the man" she said with a cheerful smile. "Though....Mjor the man drenched with water was my favourite" she added with a laugh. She slid her bag on the headboard of the bed, she was going to need it later tonight. She had a few potions to make for sale, restock some of the potions that she kept for herself, as well as complete the charm of all protection she had planned to construct.

"Ah, in that case, truly" Mjor bowed a little after Alyssa had responded to his question "Bless you my child" he went onto one knee, before looking up with a grin. His heart stopped when he realised quite where he was. He was on one knee, in front of Alyssa, the woman he loved, in a private place, after just sharing a happy moment. He suddenly had no idea how to proceed...

He settled on comedy... Although one day... If everything went well, if nothing ruined their happiness, then maybe he would have to get onto that same knee again, for quite different reasons. "But, as a man of the cloth, I do think your thoughts of water drenched men are quite impure... Whatever shall we do with you?" he stood up, pulling the hood over his face to hide the slight redish tinge he was sure must have appeared. He faux pondered for a moment, long enough to calm his usually steady and unflappable heart, before turning around. He relaxed utterly, and dropped the slight accent he had used for his priest version of himself, and filled with affection and tenderness he repeated "Whatever shall we do?".

He looked over her as she sat there, and drank in every detail. Truly, he was blessed... She may have been part nympth, but that was nothing, there was something about her more unique, more unusual and far more important than that. His mind wandered to a happier place, where he was not a mercenary, and she not a noble, where their love did not end in some kind of doom (for Mjor could not see how her father would allow him to marry her... And quite possibly would arrange for him to dissappear. It happened, Mjor had at times made it happen. Alternatly, he may die in battle, like so many of the down trodden, generally desperate group known as independent mercenaries). He imagened simple things, days in the fields with her, dancing in the sunset (Mjor was quite proud of his dancing skills... They were not much, but he could get by. To many times acting as a bodyguard at a formal ball, getting a little drunk, and trying to woo some noble or servant made him learn fast). It made a slightly silly smile drift onto his face as he looked at her.

It took about a minute for him to snap back to reality, where upon his mind immediatly grasped for anything it could think about. Mjor sighed, and flopped onto his bed, swinging his legs up on so he was just lieing there, hands behind his head. "I had better stop neglecting my training soon" he mused, hoping he would not be asked what he was thinking... It was embarresing... "Otherwise I will be the puniest and most useless Mercenary in the world."
