| Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members. Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity. But how long will that peace last? There was something pleasing about the breath being squeezed from her lungs. It was a surprisingly soft caress, allowing her to feel the smooth, dry underbelly about her neck. Her eyes were dazzled by the varying blue and gold patterns weaving like a pendulum before her. Death was greeting her as a lover, passionately pinning her to an ancient tree. A forked tongue tasted her cheek but she dare not turn away for fear of a swifter kiss. However, her fear was unfounded. The serpent was old and wise, and liked to strangle its victims within an inch of their lives before swallowing them whole. It was also cunning, having grown up in the shadow of a prominent city. Stealing a life merely for food was a waste when he could taste the last beats of a woman's heart. The captive squirmed at first, having woken with a start. It was early morning and the sun was just risen above the treetops. The woman was high enough up on a sturdy limb to watch the sun wash the sky in pale orange. Yet the grandeur was lost on her in the struggle for her life. As she became aware of the situation she ceased to struggle, though the damage had already been done. The tree in front of her was wavering and the serpent's head seemed to become two. Futilely she gasped for breath, the harsh sounds squeezing from her lips merely whispers. One paw had carelessly been left free, and she slowly raised it to chest level. With a quick thrust she plunged her claws into the body of the snake, which immediately began to thrash around. Alyth ducked as the head of the serpent came at her, it's grip about her neck loosened. She seized hold of it with her other hand paw and sank her claws in deeply. The weight and length of the snake as it fell limply upon her caused her foot paw to slip. With a hoarse cry she overbalanced and fell off the branch. The air whistled past her sensitive ears and flattened them. As she fell her lithe body smashed into branch after branch. Extending her claws she attempted to grab at each branch as it passed, though she only succeeded in slowing her descent. Finally she and the serpent fell with a great 'whumph' on the forest floor. Hardly dazed the serpent attacked again, still seeking to bite. Unfortunately for the serpent, Alyth bit back. Her fangs delved deeply into the tough neck and continued to go deeper by growing. With a jerk of her head she ripped the serpent's head off. Blood spurted over the deep jungle loam and oozed from the half-feline's mouth. Her strangely colored eyes watched the snake for more foul play, shoulders heaving from panting for breath. Above her head there were signs of destruction. Branches hung loose, gouged by claw marks. Birds had taken to flight in haste, leaving behind feathers and sometimes their young. Below small pests were already emerging to gorge on the serpent. Alyth took a step back from the mess and spat some of the blood from her mouth. A feral grin illuminated her face at this auspicious start of a new day. |

The Insatiable

Nighttime in the jungle had been fairly uneventful for the cat eared demon. He had spent most of the night simply wandering, ignoring the random species that inhabited it just as they ignored him. He would have liked to have run into some people to torment, but alas, Mirix had no such luck this time around. If he weren’t such a nocturnal creature or, rather, if he required or desired sleep at all, he would have simply rested until daybreak, but time had slipped away from him. Before he even truly realized it, the sun was beginning to rise over the horizon and he found himself in a part of the jungle he was unfamiliar with. Just then, the sounds of a struggle reached his ears and the demon stopped to look up just in time to see a strange sight crashing down through the treetops. The silver headed one blinked in mild surprise as he watched the birds screech and flee, and the tree limbs snap and crash beneath the falling… Thing. Mirix jumped back at the last second, right as the bundle of girl and serpent hit the ground a foot or so from where he had been standing. With his head tilted, he remained perfectly silent and still as he watched the fight continue on the ground. A part of the demon called for him to shrug and jump in, to rend the two creature’s tussling for naught as he tore them both to shreds. However, he kept that feeling at bay; the urge to act was overridden by the desire to have a show, and this was certainly that, even if he knew that it would be over much too soon. He watched in delight as the humanoid tore into the serpent, eventually beheading it and painting the jungle ground red. The smell of freshly spilled blood was inviting; though he wished it had come from something with more of an ability to vocalize its pain. Regardless, the small female’s ferocity brought a quirky smile to his face, though if were one to look in his eyes, it would become clear that there was something sinister lurking beneath the surface. When the female took a step back, she was actually moving closer towards the silent witness; suddenly now well within arm’s reach. Absently, Mirix’s crimson claws extended at his sides and his arms rose slowly as if he were about to strike, his lips parting to reveal his own hungering fangs and desire. A moment passed and nothing happened, and nothing would happen. The demon’s claws had retracted and the look on his face had vanished, replaced by a much more placid, albeit strangely amused one. Leaning in slightly over her shoulder, he dared not breathe before cooing softly into her ear, his words silky and heavy with an indescribable accent. “Was it good for you?” |
