Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity. But how long will that peace last? Name – Alyssa Gardenia Iris Orvacious Age – 20 Gender – Female Alignment – Neutral Good Social Class – Noble Born Occupation – Herbalist Race – Human, though with a bit of wood nymph, her grandmother is supposedly one. Weapons – Alyssa wields a wooden staff, said to have come from a spell wood tree her grandmother had grown years ago. Spell wood is known to be a fantastic medium for magic, capable of amplifying magic to whoever wields the staff. It has been polished as well as engraved with various markings in ancient script. Physical Appearance –Alyssa is 5’5 and has a slender build. Her hands and feet are notably dainty, allowing her to swiftly run through the forest without making much, if any, sound. Her hair is light brown, and straight, growing to about mid way down the length of her back. Her bangs are long, and straight they frame either side of her face. Her eyes are a very vibrant green, and her lips are a rosy red, both said to have been traits inherited from her grandmother. She is quite beautiful, almost to a nymph-like quality, though she doesn’t pay much attention to her looks. Usually she wears a reasonably closefitting, short sleeved green dress embroidered with silver leaves and vines lining along the neck, the edges of her sleeves and along the slit, which is fashionably cut rather high up, revealing her legs and a good portion of her boots beneath. Her boots are made from fine leather died a dark black. They extend just below her knees. They are tight and light, providing both warmth and the capability to run around unhindered. A dark green hooded cloak is tied with a string around her neck, providing both camouflage as well as warmth. Around the bottom of the cloak in a darker shade of green, an embroidery of blossoming flowers can be faintly seen. Personality – Alyssa has always been a carefree and compassionate woman, much like her mother, and her mother’s mother the wood nymph. She’s the type of girl who would run through a forest just for the pure sense of exhilaration. Despite being a noble woman she is empathetic to all people, especially those who have not the chance to live the life that she does. She is highly attuned to nature, and will spend hours in her own private garden, nurturing and talking to the plants. She easily grows attached to those she meets, and when hurt by another may react unpredictably. History – Alyssa was born on a warm spring day underneath a great tree, a rather awkward though necessary ordeal. You see, it had been asked of by her grandmother that her grandchild be born under the branches of a spell wood tree, for reasons unknown everyone, including the new young mother. However the task was completed and they need not worry any farther, Lord Austen, and Lady Rosaline were both pleased with their beautiful baby girl, who stared at them with innocent, startlingly bright green eyes. Alyssa was a very spirited little girl, always eager to show her mother the new flower she had found or the latest leaf she wanted to add to her collection she had in the chest in her room. Forever close to plants and flowers she would journey into the edge of their family’s forest. Her parents never worried for they knew that she was always watched by the spirits within. It was clear that nymph blood ran thickly through her veins, her eyes were a key indicator, since both her parents had brown eyes. Her mother, Lady Rosaline, spent most of her time in the family’s gardens with her daughter, teaching her about the properties of many of the herbs and flowers that she had planted. On one of her excursions into the forest, her grandmother happened to spot her and introduced herself to the child. Alyssa had always known that her grandmother was some sort of forest spirit but she had always doubted it within the depths of her mind. It was at that moment many other wood nymphs stepped out of trees, all of them wearing garments from vines, leaves and flowers. The nymphs held hands, and invited the girl to their circle, who tentatively grabbed her grandmother’s. Together they spun and danced in the circle; singing in a language Alyssa did not quite understand but could vaguely “feel” its meaning. The dance soon came to an end and the nymphs faded away like wisps, Alyssa was left with a sense of awakening. After that incident, Alyssa had notably become aware of a lot more things around her, as if she could hear subtle voices from the earth, the trees, the plants, and the leaves. It was a time of uncertainty and confusion in her life. She often ran to her father or mother, slightly afraid of the voices while she was in her room at night. It was then decided that Alyssa would have to immediately be taught how to use and take control of her powers, her father hired the wisest of sages, one who was acquainted with the ancient spirits of the world. As expected, Lady Alyssa dived into her studies with enthusiasm and determination, eventually reining in the voices as well as teaching her a good deal about nature magic, and her nymph heritage. Little Alyssa blossomed into a beautiful young lady. She was still studious delving into the world of nature magic, but she also shared her mother’s love for herbs. Together they would concoct many healing potions, for back aches, toothaches, headaches, or just general pain. She could easily recognize which herbs were safe and which were potent poisons. All the while, many men fell for her alluring beauty, a fact she did not take into consideration. Her father told her of his intentions to marry her off to any of the noblemen whom she thought she would love. She was grateful for the gesture but she felt that she was not ready for marriage yet. Perhaps it was the heart of a woodland spirit that refused to be tied down and become a lady like her mother, whiling her times away in the garden even though the world had so much to offer. Informing her mother of the internal conflict, Lady Rosaline knew that nothing could stop her as long as Alyssa had her grandmother’s blood running through her veins. With her parents’ blessings, they set their daughter free, for no one could contain a wild spirit of nature. Alyssa left the castle, parting fondly with her parents turning to undetermined roads that she would travel upon. Eagerly awaiting the various people she would meet. Despite the large amount of money that she was given, she still prefers to make her own money, through the selling of her various potions. Alyssa runs freely about the world, searching for adventure.
