The Great Red Seal Ship of Ayame sailed though calm seas, it was a beautiful day the sun filled the sky with its warm glow. Up on deck sat Aya book in lap daydreaming as the teal land before her as it hugged the horizon. Shaded by the great red sails of the merchant ship that took them back ‘home’, Aya too was a vision of red, the colour of life, dressed in several shades of the colour in today’s kimono. Her skin tingled as she couldn’t wait to return to see old friends and to show them her new treasure, for the child’s father to set eyes on something that was half his too. Ceres dressed in a western Styled frock played with a golden butterfly, chasing it unstable on human legs, and just as unstable in human form, the toddler girl stumbled for the 4th her concentration failed and she returned to the charcoal coloured cub form, she felt most comfortable in, with a yelp. The butterfly too vanished in a sparkle of gold dust, the Kitsune cub looking over her shoulder towards her mother with distressed silver eyes. With a mothering smile Aya stood and crossed the deck to sweep her child into her arm and comfort her, turning her child’s head towards the lush lands the lay beside them, as Ceres snuggled in her arms. ’Do not despair little one. I too fell many times as a cub and double the amount as I sprouted each tail. But don’t rush your youth for there is plenty of time to mimic humans and be their desire...’ A Dark shadow cast over the boat somewhat bird in shape, a few deck hands looked up but the bright light made it hard to decipher what it was they looked upon. The shadow vanished as quickly as it came, falling from the skies and landing gracefully, a white hair Kitsune male landed on the dusty wood and kneeled before her, raising his iris less eyes, to look upon mother and child, eyes that glowed with a smile, but his mouth covered by the piece of parchment he held in his mouth. Genshu the former beast of the kingdom of light stood up removing the parchment from his mouth with his hand before offering to Aya. Dressed in red leather amour fitting for her people from the remote eastern island. Setting Ceres to the floor she took the parchment with a look of indifference, taking one glance at Genshu before breaking its seal to read what words held within it. If Aya had not know Genshu before she would think the handsome Kitsune man before her would make a suitable mate. ’All is well back home?’ the note said so but she wanted to know from his experience, it was easy for one to write a lie upon a parchment but hard to hide such lies form Genshu’s power gaze. With a nod he confirmed before the icy disconnect voice of him echoed within her voice. ”All is well, the people miss you and pray to the Celeste for you safe return but there is no unrest that the council cannot take care of in you absence” Ceres scampered back and forth between Genshu’s legs seeking his attention for the roc was her giant climbing toy not her protector, he bent down to playfully knock her off her paws before just jumped up and snapped at his fingers. Aya lent back against the boats side, ‘ah~’ how blissful life was with the family she have carved out of nothing. Genshu a great companion and father figure for her little Ceres; could not take away the nights of loneliness she had felt after all these years, Aya would not permit it for many reasons. As the teal coloured blur on the horizon drew closer and turned form teal to a lush green her heart raced, would she find ‘him’ here? The boat drew closer to shore, as the men who worked on it jumped off and pulled it closer to the bank at the rivers mouth, Genshu too dismounted and assisted in pulling on the ropes to haul it in. Ceres was scooped up and placed below deck in Aya’s quarters , The Kitsune vixing cooing at her cub as she made her lay down with a firm but gentle touch, a reminded to stay put and stay silent. She would be alright after all, since there were sailors and handmaidens upon the boat that wouldnt leave the child abandoned. Coming back on deck a runway had been slid down the side of the boat, Genshu outstretched his hand to take hers and she balanced herself on the wooden board and walked down it to the sandy shore. Tzel moved through the forests of Soto the lush green of his home lands was a good place to recharge; but also a dangerous one. He knew that there was an inherent risk at all times, that he be found by his father’s agents. He was not overly concerned at the moment. He had been traveling for a ways and had seen neither hide nor hair of another sentient life form. Tzel didn’t mind that, he liked to be alone sometimes in the forest where he believed he was aware of where any danger might lurk. The little golden fox with brown tipped tails made his steady way through the woods. At present a little blue butterfly had the majority of his attention as he chased it about playfully. The butterfly was soon replaced by a small robin, and then a white rabbit. The white rabbit lead him through the woods faster and faster till Tzel forgot he had been chasing anything at all and was instead simply scurrying through the forest enjoying the freedom to run for no purpose. His feet were as free as his mind at the moment, and he soon found himself slightly tired and rather thirsty. He didn’t feel like taking his humanoid form again, and his things were in a bag hung from a tree a ways back. However the sounds of a river reached his ears and the Kitsune decided it would do him little harm to investigate. Hopefully it would be a freshwater river and he would be able to drink happily. Luck was on his side as the little golden fox drank from the fresh river until his thirst was quenched. His four tails swishing happily behind him, he followed the river a ways until the smell of salty sea air hit his sensitive nose. Tzel hadn’t realized how close he had come to his greatest fear. Seeing a large rock he soon pranced up it to look out over the horizon better. His hazel eyes piercing over the horizon to see what he could make out the rolling waves of the sea quite clearly. From this distance, the ocean did not frighten him. In fact even if he were on sandy shores he would hardly be afraid if there was a large expanse between him and the sea. From a distance like this he could admire the beauty of it with ease. The rolling waves, the fluffy clouds, the crimson ships in the distance...wait… Doing a double take he saw drawing rapidly closer and his curiosity was piqued. Strangers bearing towards the land! Were they merchants blown off course? Reine was not too far away… perhaps they were headed that direction and he was misinterpreting their trajectory. However as the ship loomed bigger and bigger he was made more certain that it was headed this way. Excitement tingled through him. Whatever this was, it was sure to be an adventure brewing for him. Supposing, of course, that they did not stay on that wretched sea. Pirates! What if they are pirates! he thought excitedly. The runaway kitsune had often liked the stories of pirates out at sea despite how much he feared the ocean they lived on. He had always believed he would never get the chance to meet any; but now it seemed that was not entirely the case. Tzel waved his tails excitedly, as the ship grew closer, he grew more cautious. The Kitsune ducked lower so he would be harder to see from the boat. Squinting he could make out the figures and what he saw began to concern him greatly. They were kitsune. Had they come for him? Those were not the colors of his father or the council; but still, that did not mean they were not associated with one of the many guilds of Soto, paid to seek out the son of the councilor. Tzel was not sure what to make of them and so hid lower. He had realized that the shore was their target, this river providing a good place to dock their ship off the beaches. Soon, it was upon the shore, and Tzel watched the soldiers and the white haired Kitsune put up a plank for those still on board. Tzel was hidden in the bushes, still a fox for he figured this would be his best bet of escape if need be. Quicker, able to dodge through the undergrowth, and harder to grab hold of, these things made his foxform ideal for running away. From the bushes he continued to watch them disembark, until there was no one for a moment… then SHE appeared. Tzel hadn’t noticed at first, the beautiful woman was halfway down the ramp when he saw her. Kitsune or human, he could not say, her species did not matter for it would not change how surprisingly awe striking she was. Blueish silver eyes seemed to take in the scape and Tzel could almost swear she saw him twice; but if she did she made no reaction. Her red clothing was something like he had hardly seen before, though reminded him of distant memories of his mother. It was beautiful and exotic and he wished to know more of it, however it was nothing compared to the pearl skinned beauty that wore it. Tzel saw her feet grace the grass of the forests of his home and let out an involuntary gasp. He clamped his fox mouth shut after that error and clamped his eyes closed hoping no one had noticed. He still did not know if these were people out to get him, or enemies of the continent. Tzel watched to see what transpired, knowing he could not run from where he was hidden, so if he was found out he might as well stay put. |

‘Elenlond’ was beautiful, lush and rich of life, indeed Jaida the goddess of earth had put her greatest power here, when she breathed life into a land that was clearly already beautiful. Aya scanned her surroundings for smoke of a little village or a tower of a town, she could see none from here, she hoped there were not too far from civilization, not like she didn’t enjoy being out in the wilderness, after all it was the wilderness that gave birth to her. Her musing was disturbed; The gasp did not go unnoticed, despite her human appearance, beneath the waves of black hair, where human ears should of sat, Aya’s Kitsune ears resided, most of her race chose to have theirs at the top of their heads, but she was in a strange land that may possess strange people, as her past had taught her, people were not to trusted when Kitsune came about, the memories of greed at the cost of her life still left a bitter taste in her mouth. So Aya choose to cover all that marked her as not human, her five tails laid beneath her robes of silk. Those blue moon orbs set on the bush with a frown, Genshu too followed her gaze to the bush; his hands set on the hilt of the katana tied to his belt. He stepped forward, the mixture of grass and sand shifting beneath his boots the only other sound aside from the sounds of crashing waves; however Aya’s delicate hand rested on his shoulder and held him still as she stepped forward to investigate, he knew all too well hers was a touch not to be denied. The red outfit she had been dressed in shifted forward like ripples on a calm lake, at her feet, it was an impressive piece of craftsmanship for a phoenix was embroidered on it with golden strings of thread that glimmered like they had been dyed in rays of sunlight itself. The phoenix head started on her left shoulder and its wings spread open into her large sleeves that could easily cover her hands, before its peacock like tail lingered down to her feet and beyond. She approached the bush, it was a cautious approach but there seemed to be a strong aura of confidence that radiated from her gestures as she reached out slowly for a branch that she had a hunch that obscured her view from whatever was ever spying on the newly touched down party. She pulled the branch aside and what she found there her lips parted to let a gasp but no sound or breath escaped rouged lips. And for a moment they shared a prolonged gaze before she smiled warmly, she knew her kind just by sight, what were the chances here she came from the land of Kitsune to go somewhere strange and new to find another one to greet her, she quickly pushed raven locks over her shoulder on the right side displaying her left Kitsune ear, The sea breeze jingled the golden bells that adorned the piercings that was on that fur covered fox ear that was the colour of pearls. It was a humble gesture, to show that she meant him no harm, as she assumed that like all Kitsune this one wondered the lands alone and would be rather pleased to see another of their kind. Tzel saw her blueish silver eyes land on his hiding place, and saw the white kitsune turn as well. He saw hand go to sword hilt and realized he was already in a bit of trouble. However, the woman reached out with what looked like the gentlest of touches, and saw him stay his blade. She drew closer and he grew infinitely more nervous for so many reasons. He was a dirty little fox at the moment, though no cleaner in his humanoid form, he was still far from presentable, and was cowering in a bush like a child. What’s more, despite his lack of present ability, she could still be an enemy. He knew a golden furred fox with brown tipped ears and a brown mark on his head was not something that was often ignored. It would be impossible to pass himself as anything but what he was, which only bothered him more. What’s more even as he tried to formulate a plan, he was too transfixed on the beauty that approached him to do anything about it. The phoenix on her garb reminded him of some of his favorite stories and he felt himself distracted and curious. Intrigued by this beautiful being that seemed to know exactly where he was. He didn’t question how she knew, they were strangers from a far off land. She could have learned with magic, or her own special powers, after all, she traveled with kitsune. The branch moved and he stared up at her transfixed for a long moment. His hazel eyes with rings of gold looked up into her eyes like the blue moon. For what felt like an eternity, wrapped in a moment, their gaze was locked. She gave a warm smile that seemed inviting and safe. Under other circumstances Tzel would have been drawn to her like a moth to flame; but he had seen the other kitsune, and was in a place he knew to be unsafe for him. Still, it was hard to believe that the owner of such a smile could possibly bear him any ill will or harm. She moved her beautiful ebon hair and Tzel wondered why for a moment, shaking away the desire to reach out and touch it, and his questions were soon answered. She revealed a fox-like ear and Tzel realized she too was a kitsune like himself. Leaping from the bush only a little closer and to the side he paused, all four legs tense and ready to run he backed up a few steps. He didn’t look threatening, No, the four tailed fox was clearly debating to stay for a moment longer or take flight into the woods as fast as his brown feet could carry him. His our tails swished a little with nerves as he looked up at her, his ears drooping to his sides. She was danger, she could embody one of his greatest fears, and he had been foolish enough to watch them draw near and let her get this close to him. “P-please… who are you with? I deserve to know if I should run. I’m owed that much.” Tzel spoke in a weak voice that had hints of animal sounds in it still. Clearly not far enough along to know how to talk perfectly as a fox, nor apparently strong enough to communicate with his mind alone. He waited hesitant, fearing the worst but wishing that these people would, somehow, have no idea whom he was. Sometimes beauty hides danger, Tzel had learned that lesson many times, so he knew better than to trust this woman right away, despite what his instincts wanted to do. |

With his leap forward Aya took a step back, despite him being a fox and her human in forms he didn’t want any ugly scars that could leave marks on unblemished skin, prompting his mistress’ movements once again Genshu grabbed the hilt of his weapon ready to cut the Kitsune down. But with a raised hand from Aya he stopped in his tracks once again. She wasn’t weak despite having protectors, and her clearly delicate appearance. This vixen held more bite than her bark; and if needed she could easily turn it on this Kitsune soul. With quiet observation of his actions she could see he was nervous, she question why quietly in her mind why one would fear his own kind so; she wished not to panic him further. He spoke in the untrained voice of Kitsune youth, she counted his tails, 400 years they should of equalled however he was so unskilled, so he was not from the same branch of Kitsune as her, maybe his tails meant his deeds, she questioned more with her eyes unspeaking, but she knew she should comfort the youth before he died from sheer panic where he stood. ”Do not fear little one, my name is Aya, and these men are my own. We hail from an island from the east. No need to run from us, we come as old friends to this land” She cooed at him once again with he same tone she used on her daughter when she stumbled, when she mentioned running she broke into a chuckle; its melodic tones seemed to relax the crowed that had formed a few good paces behind her, even Genshu had cooled and his arms crossed his chest, in quiet contemplation. She turned her head to see smiles from her party as they warmed to the native stranger of this land that was clearly one of them, despite being all human of appearing at closer inspection they too were like her, ears at the sides of their heads most without tails. Aya turned her head back to question the youth about why he was nervous, maybe they could assist him in some way and in return he could point them toward civilization, Aya’s body ached for a bath, since water was precious upon a ship, it was a rare commodity to take one, once on board. However upon the Red Seal there came a squeal from a female voice and the sound of smashing plates and shattering glass, down the runway came running the charcoal coloured cub who, ran towards her mother before burying beneath the robes of silk. A strong backed Kitsune female looked towards Aya, cursing claiming the cub as a devil. Aya just smiled, what was Kitsune youth for, but mischief? Her robes parted and there stood a girl who looked no older than two, her hair short above her shoulder, same darkness as her mothers , but Her bangs were a beautiful silver colour to mach her eyes. She peered between the slit of her mother’s robe at what had stolen all the attention away from her, her mother’s pearl coloured tail curled around her neck and held in hand as she suckled her thumb with large curious eyes. Tzel relaxed just slightly when she began to speak rather than issue an attack to her menacing guard. The white haired kitsune seemed too quick to the sword to be following his father’s orders. Tzel knew he was not to be captured with lethal force. Her voice was one that sounded soft and inviting. Again Tzel was finding it hard not to simply nod and believe anything this woman said. She assured him they were friends of the land and that she was her own force. Tzel was still wary even after the enchanting musical laughter of this woman. A sudden crash from behind made him all but turntail and bolt for the woods in fright, when he saw a little gray fox come bounding down a deck and take shelter beneath the woman’s robes. When she peered out again She looked like a human child and was sucking a thumb. This was the last straw for Tzel. His father would never send out a woman with a child to hunt him. As far as Tzel knew, no warriors took children into battle with them. His ears perked up and his tails swished twice before he leaped up doing a flip. However in midair there was a poof of smoke and a flash of blue flames and When it cleared Tzel was sitting on the ground with his legs spread out and his hands on the ground behind him. He was leaning back and looking up at the lady with one of his big welcoming smiles. “If you’re not my enemy then I have nothing to fear. I’ll be proud to be the first to say, welcome back to the forests of Soto!” Tzel’s tails swished behind him happily and his gaze flicked down from the pretty, nice, lady to her little child peering out at him. His hands, still behind his back, moved quickly. With a flick of his wrist a piece of paper moved to his hands from out of sight, and he began to fold it in a second flat he had a tiny paper crane. Tzel tumbled forwards in a summersault and ended on one knee before the lady. “Hey there little’un” he said softly with a smile. “Here ya go, a little present for making that long trip from your home across that dreadful sea.” He slowly held out his hand to her offering the tiny paper crane. Paxamil had loved it when he made things for her. He had done so often when she was small. Once, he had even made one thousand of them for her birthday so she would get a second wish. Thoughts of Pax, and how long it had been since he saw her, came to mind and Tzel forced them away. Rising up and taking a few steps back he bowed to the lady respectfully. He didn’t seem to mind anymore that he was a bit dirty, and had never been known to care about the fact that he wandered around shirtless most days. His trusty black pants were all he needed, and the paper scroll on his back, in a sheath resembled a sword as always. “You can call me Tzel... is there something i can do to help you?” he asked with a smile as he straightened himself to look upon the woman who had been kind enough not to let him be stricken down by her white haired guard. Aya’ watched him transform in a puff of smoke and sparkles it made her smile, in Ayame most had forgotten that they were all about tricks, smoke and mirrors, to deceive those foolish enough to play with them. Even she too had forgotten what the thrill and joy one could get from seducing some poor soul that came across her; then destroying his world a little, only in moderation though... He was graceful in a clumsy sort of way, all tumbles and flips, he greeted them to the forests of Soto, she looked at the lush thicket just behind where Tzel sat, as she mouthed out the word ‘Soto’, the name seemed fitting on her tongue. She paid him no notice when he wiped out a piece of paper, she her instincts told her that this boy was a good soul and would do no harm to her child. Work had already unloading the boat, it seems Genshu had set out command to make a camp for the night; Aya gave a little sigh, no hot bath tonight. Ceres marvelled at him with those large curious eyes as he quickly folded the piece into a crane, she was like her mother, not the one to go bounding out and seeking adventure head first, but to observe with a silent mouth and open eyes and let adventure find her. When Tzel held out the crane to her she just stared at it she took a tighter hold on her mother’s tail to her attention. Aya looked down with a frown; unable to see her child beneath the silk, but she noticed the paper crane in their new found friend’s hand. She said something in a tongue that wouldn’t have been recognised by Tzel and gave her child a gentle nudge with her leg, encouraging her to take it. The girl reached out and plucked up the paper shaped bird holding it, her look neither in awe or boredom, she did not say thank you or even acknowledge Tzel for his kind gift before she darted back inside her mother’s skirt. The tiny charcoal coloured cub climbing out under Aya’s train, origami bird in mouth before scampering back on deck with her new gift, with some malevolent plan of mischief in mind. Aya watched proudly as that little cub ran off to be nothing but a Kitsune cub, displine was not in Aya’s agenda, her daughter would learn the way of the world by watching those around her, there was plenty of time for curtsey and doing what’s right, responsibility... no need to rush her into it and ruin the natural instincts that Aya had even forgotten, her thoughts were thrown off by the Kitsune male who addressed himself as Tzel she greeted his name in her memory with a subtle bow of her head. ”Perhaps Tzel, if you could be so kind to spend a little time here and tell me about the land I have just set upon, location of local towns and villages, and what of the gods and goddess’, where may I find them? Tzel watched the little girl give no reaction to his gift; but didn’t mind. He had not given it for gratitude, he had given it because he thought it would be a nice thing to do. Tzel smiled as she scampered back towards the ship with her present in tow. Looking around he too noticed the other kitsune seeming to prepare to set up camp here for the night. It was probably a good idea if they knew anything about Soto and the people of it. He watched them for a minuet, distracted, until the voice of the woman called his attention back to her. She had many questions and from them it was clear that she knew little of the current world. Tzel thought how to answer her questions and then decided the best way to show off his home would be to let the lady walk through at least part of it. He gave her a warm smile and his tails swished more excitedly at the prospect of offering a hand to this beautiful specimen of his own species. “I-if you would m-m’lady.” He stammered involuntarily as he extended a hand to her. “I c-could show you a small part of the forest while I tell you about all you have asked.” Tzel put all his energy into keeping his hand from trembling in nervousness at the idea of it being taken by this woman. He had not been this nervous when he offered Chase his arm; but they had been at a ball, it had been expected of him… and in all honesty Chase paled in comparison to this strange beauty of his own species. She was like a queen or enchantress straight out of his books. His hazel eyes with golden rings could not be torn from her blue and silver orbs as he waited for her to take his hand or take his arm. Or simply chose to walk beside him. The silly boy was so nervous it he started walking before she even accepted or refused his offer. He took several paces before speaking and then started to talk without looking to see if she was really there. The back of his mind reasoned if he wandered off babbling, he’d look like a fool but simply wander away and not return, if she came with him… she’d hear him. Tzel headed upriver a little and then started to move towards the woods and through the trees, unconsciously he was heading towards where he had left his things suspended from a tree branch. “The place you are in now, is called the The Erth'netora Forest. It’s the biggest most lush forest on this continent and filled with magic and history as all great forests should be. There have been battles and gods and all sorts of things throughout the expanse of this forest, and it is my home. North, on the coast, is the port city of Reine. As good as it sounds, it’s a good thing you didn’t go to Reine straightaway, especially as foreign kitsune. Reine is made of mostly humans, and they do not like foreigners. As history goes, technically they too are foreign; but they carved out a small place for themselves and after much battle and turmoil, Soto has it’s peace. If new outsiders were to come in and further cramp the space they have taken… they don’t take kindly to outsiders, particularly non human ones. Lucky you landed her first and met me, huh?” This was as Tzel understood things and was the truth as far as he had experienced his corner of the world. Tzel glanced over to the woman and smiled with his last remark but soon became too nervous to continue looking at her and watched were he was going once more, just in time to narrowly avoid walking into a tree. “Fortunately you have two choices. Soto doesn’t have a lot of villages, at least not civilized or friendly ones, but there are some. However most of them are actually farther from here than either of the two main cities. One being Reine, the other being the closest thing Soto has to a capitol. The heart of the forest, Madrid is where the council of twelve make all the important decisions to help keep peace and balance between the guilds of Soto. That is our political structure in Soto, guilds, I only understand it a little; but its all really boring. More importantly, outside of Madrid is the path that leads to the temple of Nature….” Tzel looked towards her again to see if what he was saying was of any interest. Once more the sight of her face caused him to smile; but this time he half stumbled on a rock and caught himself just before falling forwards. Not looking back at her to see the laughter in her eyes or on her face, Tzel quickly resumed speaking. “The gods and goddesses I know little of, I know they did not start in this world, but came from far far away, some say a different world. However… I’ve yet to see any of them.” This fact seemed to dishearten the golden eared Kitsune, hinting at the fact that he had often tried to meet one such god or goddess. “They sound so marvelous in stories… but from what some say, they claim the gods and goddesses all faded away or faded out of their powers becoming people just like us. So as far as I know… there aren’t any left… I still look though, because I think maybe they are just hiding among us, and maybe one day I will meet one, because that sounds like a fabulous adventure!” Tzel paused as his excitement had started to rise again, for his eyes caught sight of his bag hanging from a tree and so he moved forwards and quickly grabbed it and slung it over his shoulder. “So… has that helped any?” He asked daring to face her again. Once more his hazel eyes with golden rings meeting with her blue and silver orbs. |

She glanced down at his open hand briefly before locking her gaze with his, he was nervous; she could almost smell it on him. Her right brow raised slightly as she contemplated this new young prospect before her, people who were nervous of her made easy and satisfying toys... She was glad he decided to walk ahead, touch was not something Aya partook in often, only if necessity asked for it, touch lead to all kinds of complicated emotions, maybe because she refrained from touching it made hers that little bit more powerful. She let him lead the way, holding her kimono in hand so that she didn’t stumble and tangle her train on some log and fall, her head turned down to the floor to watch her step but her eyes clearly fixed on him as he spoke. ’ Erth'netora Forest, Reine…’ She started absorbing the information as he spoke, she would send Genshu out that night to look over the land and make a map when he returned, it was good to have knowledge of what these places were called. He looked back to her and almost walked into a tree she smiled, not letting a giggle escape her lips. Indeed Tzel was right, humans were selfish creatures, consumed by their own greed and desires, and she really had no mercy for them if one happened to take her fancy. She had been hunted, captured, imprisoned, she was glad that they landed somewhere so remote instead of finding that particular port, and she could sense unpleasant things would have happened instead of this rather pleasant meeting. ”Indeed I am very blessed, to have met you Tzel” He spoke more of unpleasant natives in this land, before speaking of Madrid and the temple of nature; possibly she could find Jaida there? Then he spoke of how the gods and goddess vanished without a trace, she felt her heart sunk, Alex, Sphynx, Shadow, Jaida, Regan, all their names rushed back to her as the thought of seeing those she fought to save her home with gone never to be seen again. She stopped when he grabbed for his bag, her face washed with sadness briefly before it melted away, as his more important fact came up, he had never seen a god nor goddess, she wondered if she should tell him that she was the former goddess of light, a light smile played on her lips at the thought of exciting the boy. ”Yes this information will prove very useful too us, I am just please I didn’t land at Reine what a horrid mess that would of become!” She took a step towards him her slender fingers taking grasp of the bare skin of his arm, a deliberate touch but she looked him clearly in the eye as if such a movement was natural to her. ”Perhaps, you could stay with us tonight, then if you could, assist us in getting to Madrid and possibly in crafting a map?” Edited by Aya, Aug 18 2009, 11:46 PM.

Tzel was surprised by the contact, having not expected it by any means. Her gentle touch sent shivers through him. His face flushed scarlet and Tzel just stared into her eyes with his mouth partially open for a moment before he shook his head slightly and his tails swished eagerly behind him. “I’d be delighted to stay with you all tonight. I know the best campfire stories! I can make a map easy, I know how to get to Madrid from ust about anywhere in the forest, long as I know where I am.” Tzel grinned widely trying to hide the fact that his cheeks were still pink. Madrid… Suddenly he realized there was a problem with this idea. Madrid was his home city… if his father and his men were out and about… Tzel would be risking everything to take these people to the city. “I… well I…” he had been trying to say that he would be unable to take them all the way to Madrid, but would get them as close as he could; but somehow he could not say those words to the beautiful eyes that looked at him. “I’ll take you all the way to Madrid, and show you some of the best shops and such. It’ll be hard what with you all not being in any guild; but as long as everyone knows you aren’t from around Soto, it should be ok for you.” Tzel wanted to start walking again but he couldn’t bring himself to move in a way that would rid the fingers of this beautiful woman, from his arm. In fact the longer she was in contact with him, the faster his heart was beating. He felt himself getting nervous again, unsure how to proceed, the beauty of this female being entrancing him in every moment. A creature half a foot shorter than he, seemed to have all the power in the world over him; but this was not an unusual thing for Tzel. “S-s-so would you like me to show you anything else around here? Or should we head back now m’lady?” Tzel asked timidity and nervousness not hiding their existence in the slightest. For one reason or another, Tzel’s greatest weakness had to be beautiful women, and this female fox, was one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen. |

She held on to him just a little bit longer, and then suddenly broke contact, her palm facing her stomach before turning it to the sky and fingers pointing back towards camp, elegant gesture that they should return, dusk was setting quickly on them and Aya was eager to hurry back to her daughter and send Genshu out to scout the area. ”We should return before Genshu, comes out, blade in hand ready for your head!” She laughed at this remark, but they had been gone a while she was certain that the party would be worried about her, never mind the fact that she could take care of herself. She did not wait for him to follow her, instead she just lead the way back to camp, when she got there several large tents had been put up, with matching smaller ones, the fire set and something cooking above it, horses had been unloaded along with several valuable chests and barrel, that contained treasures from her land; that could be used to trade with the people here, they had come very well prepared. After all Aya despite her newly rooted position liked to wonder off for a certain amount of time, she had done it many times before. Like any soul she longed for adventure, long voyages and unknown roads. Genshu was the first to greet here as she stepped out the bracken, he looked to the Tzel with a look that showed no approval or disapproval, before looking directly at Aya with his unsettling eyes, that took a light of their own in the quickening darkness, Aya let out a laugh abruptly; ”Ceres did what with the Origami bird!?” Genshu squinted at her looking most displeased, his lips did not move once, as he gestured back to the largest of all tents, he had changed out of his ornate armour and instead just wore a loosely fitted shirt and leather pants, Aya smiled up at him resting a hand on his shoulder before brushing past walking towards her tent, pausing briefly to turn round and call back to him ”Can you expect any less from a Kitsune child?” Genshu just sighed and stamped off, clearly frustrated about something, no one else looked to disturbed about Aya who just looked like she was talking to herself, before she pushed open the curtain to the tent where her daughter was being held captive; she had left Tzel to place himself among her ranks. As suddenly as it had been started, the contact was soon broken. Still, Tzel could feel it as if she were still touching his arm. So light and gentle, yet at the same time such a simple, dismissible, gesture seemed to have buried itself in his memories. However, her next statement soon brought more immediate issues to mind. Tzel didn’t like the prospect of being chased after by the tall, white haired kitsune he had seen earlier. That red armor probably hid blood rather well. Tzel knew some basics of fighting with the short sword now at his side (having recovered it along with his bag); but had a feeling his feeble skills were no match for the other creature. “Ah, well…this way then.” he said rather quickly and started off at a slightly brisk pace towards the camp. It hadn’t felt like it had been very long, nor had it felt like they had moved very far; but sure enough, the fading light and the progress that had been made on the little camp was evidence of the length of their little journey. Tzel saw the look given him by the white kitsune and he simply gave a weak smirk in return. Despite the neutrality of the gesture towards him, Genshu gave Tzel the feeling that he was not quite approved of. Something about that kitsune… didn’t seem quite right; but Tzel had yet to put his finger on what that might be. Tzel watched the two interact and felt like someone on the outside of an inside joke. It seemed they were communicating mentally by some means. At least, the male was, Aya was still verbal in speaking, thus allowing Tzel to deduce that the little cub had done something with his gift to her, that perturbed the silent figure. Her remark about kitsune children forced Tzel to hold in a giggle till Genshu had stormed off and the woman had left him alone without a word. Tzel released the little chuckle as his mind went over a few fond memories of himself, or Pax, or both of them getting in various sorts of mischief. However, the memories were starting to take a path he did not want to follow and so he quickly walked about looking for a distraction from his thoughts. The kitsune did not want to remember things sad, nor remember things that would lead to sad thoughts. Tzel soon busied himself by helping a few of the other kitsune finish setting up one of the smaller tents; but when the returned to fetch more things from the boat, he did not follow for he was uncertain if the white one would like his presence on their special ship. Strolling to the horses, Tzel admired the creatures from afar, at first, but soon drew closer to stroke the manes of a few of them and look into their large eyes. After noticing a few glances from the other kitsuen, he felt it best to leave their horses alone too. It seemed, despite welcoming them to the lands he called home, Tzel was still not quite trusted by these others. He couldn’t really blame them, he supposed, not all kitsune were as hospitable as others. Some were more wary, particularly those that had been hurt by strangers in the past. Feeling like a bit of an outsider in his own lands, Tzel moved to the outskirts of the perimeter they had established, and then a few paces farther so it would not seem like he was intruding on their space. He drew out his scroll of paper and unfurled a section roughly seven feet long. Using his short sword, he cut the paper off at that point, and repeated the process. Laying the two so they were parallel and slightly overlapping one another he proceeded to fold the two at the middle creating an upside down V shape roughly 6 feet long and 4and a half feet high at it’s peak. Tzel was holding one edge of the odd structure he had made for himself when it a flash of blue flame washed over it for an instant and the structure was now as hard and sturdy as if it were made of iron. Satasfied with this, Tzel unfurled another length of paper to cover the back and front ends like makeshift paper doors, which fluttered in the slightest breeze. Once finished, he sheathed his paper scroll. Still alone and a bit bored, Tzel looked towards the horses. He drew another smaller piece of paper from his pocket and, in a few seconds, had folded himself a little origami horse. It too was consumed in a momentary flash of blue flames before he released the paper steed and allowed it to charge around him in circles and run and play of it’s own accord within arm’s reach. While it did this, he sat down in front of one of the fluttering “doors” of his “tent” and pulled a book from his bag. Drawing out a smaller scroll from the bag, as well as quill and ink, he flipped through the book to two pages, each bearing a hand drawn map, and began to replicate his maps onto the scroll. Soon he was busy with his work and lost track of time, able to push out thoughts of how the others might perceive him. The little paper horse continued to trot about nearby and circle him from time to time as he worked, happy to be doing something to help the strange, yet beautiful, kitsune woman. |

Some time has passed that Aya was inside her tent without stepping out once to see how things were setting up outside, she trusted these men with her and her child’s life, she knew any choices they made were for the better of the group than anything, so no one bothered her. Her Tent was filled with luxuries that anyone could expect of a Kitsune empress, a table, with parchment and a few maps, not of Soto, since Tzel had not given her a map yet, but of Ayame, Bookshelf filled with bamboo bound pages, history, magic and herbilism, the far right surrounded by an opaque material was a shrine with several candles burning around it. Inside the shrines open doors was a statue of a Kitsune women with many tails, her palm faced those that choose to look upon her while her other held a Kitsune ball. Aya’s room contain open chests with different robes of all colours, and a table scattered with jewels that she chose to accessorise those equally colourful outfits. Last was her bed which was covered with fine silks, soft feather down pillows and furs to keep away the chill. A Handmaiden kept Cares Company and tried to wear the young kit out, however from her sleepy look and continuous yawn it seemed the young pup was having that affect on her. Aya stood peering out her tent briefly most of her men were around the camp fire, sharing a story or two and drinking, having quite a pleasant time, she looked for Tzel among them before she noticed his little paper tent right out on the outskirts of the camp, she frowned, displeased that her own would not include them in their fun and drinking games. She was quite certain they didn’t even offer him a share in their rations... Grabbing her untouched meal, she stepped out her tent abruptly pushing open her material door with a foul mooded sweep; if the door had been made of wood it would of certainly of slammed, the noted her bad mood and unpleased look on her face, and in turn hung their heads in shame, avoiding the judgement that came from moon coloured orbs. She turned her attention to Tzel’s little shack her mood softened as she approached him; no longer dressed in her fiery kimono, but a single layered robe, that when the light caught it shimmered, and her bare silluette could be faintly seen through it as well as herr five long tails. Dressed down her hair too was let down held together with a silver clasp, at the bottom of her pony tail. She bent down to look at what he was working on, still bowl in hand, she offered it to him with a smile ”Here Tzel, try this, I promise you it is good” The bowl she offered was medium in size, but the way the fod was placed inside was a sheer work of art, it was nothing more than humble rice, meat and pickled vegetables, but the meat was finely sliced and laid out above the rice in a fan position, the vegetables themselves where drizzled with some sort of sweet smelling gravy, an aroma as good as it looked. She set the bowl in from of him as she noticed, that a shadow over cast them both, looking over her shoulder she saw it was Genshu, ready to set off for the night and do what he did other than her requests. He paid the boy no mine, his darken shape was only light up by the light energy that burned in his eye. ”You summoned me” A voice as powerful as the man who willed it, it was cold and somewhat disconnected from reality to those who heard it within their heads, Genshu’s mouth still did not stir. He could will his voice to be heard by one or by many, it seemed. Aya stood turning her back on Tzel while she addressed Genshu; her voice had taken an air of authority on it. ”Release you from your duty, like every night, all I ask is that you take note of this places key locations and in the morning check them with Tzel’s map.” Genshu clenched his fist and brought it to his chest above his heart with deep a respectful bow, before looking to the clear night sky above them. ”It is a beautiful night for a flight” Aya’s head turned upwards to look at the star filled night above them, before looking back down to her guardian, left hand moving to his forehead she gingerly brushed aside his white bangs that fell in front of his face before letting her palm rest there for a moment. ”Be careful...Please” He removed her hand, with a smile great white wings protruding from his back growing in length and size slowly, his knees bent as he prepared to take off and within a blink he was gone, before a great shadow blocked the moon from the sky and disappeared as quickly as Genshu did, in a gasp of wind, the sound of a eagle echoing in the distance. Aya did return to look back at Tzel but went back inside her tent as if something had deeply disturbed her. Time had passed and the camp fell silent Aya laid in bed with Ceres nuzzled between her jaw and chest, the cub’s single tail curled around her neck like a scarf. Aya was restless and could not sleep for all the love in the world, something disturbed her deeply about Genshu’s absence ’I am always careful’ were his last word to her, spoken so gently to her own mind. She raised from her bed, untangling herself from Ceres’ nuzzle without disturbing the cub, she walked to the table where her hair pins, combs and other items of jewellery sat, a humble woven basket sat filled with a wash cloth and other small items, it had been too long since she bathed, nothing cleared her mind like a meeting with water, so grabbing it she stepped out into the nights rather pleasant air, everyone was asleep, or so she assumed it was deathly silent and the fire had burned down to a few embers. Those that kept watch for the night were on the other side of the camp by the horses. Barefoot she tiptoed past shared tents seeking comfort of the river that laid behind the wood, she wouldn’t be gone long and no one would notice her absence, finding her way in the dark the moons light being her only means of seeing, she used her ears to locate the sound of trickling water. Finding the calm fresh water of the water she set her basket down by a nearby rock before her hand hovered over the water, using her free hand to loosen her robe a little. Dipping her bare feet in its chilled liquid, before undressing fully and submerging herself in its embrace. Edited by Aya, Aug 19 2009, 05:20 PM.

Tzel moved on through his project completely unaware of what was going on around him. His map was coming along nicely, Tzel did not notice as the night passed longer, or that others were gathered and enjoying themselves about a campfire. The little horse eventually ran out of magic and stood still as he continued to work on his map. Finally, the sound of someone approaching did reach his ears and Tzel looked up in time to see Aya walking towards him. He smiled at her timidly, his cheeks turning pink as usual. However his ears soon pointed straight up and his face flushed scarlet when he realized he could see her naked silhouette through her garments. Quickly he busied himself with his map again, face still crimson, and tried to push away the image from his mind. He felt that it was unfair to see what she probably didn’t know he could see of her. Such displays were often reserved, by what he understood from story books, to only be shared between lovers. Tzel might have learned a little about being a thief, but he did not feel it was right to steal something that was saved only for those who loved. The smell of nearby food caused the little kitsune’s stomach to growl. Still when she offered it to him, his apatite vanished. He looked up at her, face still crimson and said nothing as he gave her a weak smile and accepted the bowl. He quickly snapped his attention back to the food in the dish. He did not hear the other man coming, and so when the voice came in his mind he looked up with a start and his usual smirk was a partial snarl. For a moment, he could have sworn he had heard the voice of his father. This was not the same voice; but it seemed this creature who spoke without moving his lips, spoke with a voice eerily similar to his father’s. It made Tzel all the more nervous. It took all of Tzel’s strength not to watch the two as they spoke. For some reason, it felt like he was eavesdropping or spying on a rather private conversation, despite the mention of his name. His curiosity blazed brightest when he mentioned flying; but Tzel still forced himself not to look. She wished him to be careful and Tzel could not resist any longer, he looked up in time for his jaw to drop at the sight of a Kitsune with wings. Wonder and awe filled his eyes at that sight before the towering Kitsune vanished rather suddenly. Tzel felt a twinge of envy for the other being. He was clearly rather close to this beautiful woman, and further more, he was able to do something Tzel could still only dream of doing. Tzel Watched Aya turn back to him and smile for a moment before seeming to hurry off. Tzel wondered what could be wrong and only barely remembered to offer up a feeble “Thank you…” He doubted she heard it; but hoped she had. Tzel turned back to the food and set it aside as he busied himself with his map again for a while. Soon, he was able to regain his appetite, and took the bowl. The food looked almost too pretty to eat; but hunger won over artistic appreciation. It was good it did for this food was rather exquisite, in fact it was of such great quality, it reminded him of meals he used to eat back home. Tzel was able to fight away memories by continuing to work on his map as he ate. Soon the food was gone and the bowl clean. Tzel’s maps were finished and he looked around to realize the campground was rather silent. Tzel had had too much excitement in one day to sleep as easy as the others in the camp. However there was no one to talk to and little to do alone without risking waking others. Tzel sat silently for a moment before thinking of seeing Aya again on the next day. He was distracted by memories of first seeing the beautiful figure walk upon the ground of his home, and then remembering how grungy and pathetic he must look by comparison. His small vein of vanity surfaced in the form of embarrassment at being with such a beautiful woman while looking like a dirty child. Tzel decided he could kill two birds with one stone by sneaking off to bathe in the river. Tzel found a secluded spot and removed his clothes, leaving them on the shore, as he then slipped into the chilly water. Tzel soon adjusted to the cold and busied himself with a pleasant swim. Being a wanderer, he was not one to be rich enough in pocket to buy soaps, and the friends he made were rarely the type to bother with soap, and if they did they rarely had enough to freely give away. He went without in the water simply relying on the water and current to clean away the dust of the road. Tzel swam happily above the water for a while, careful not to splash too loudly, and then as he let his imagination wander, soon found himself pretending to be a predator in the water, a dragon of the river. He swam beneath the waters surface as low to the bottom as he could get without rubbing against the rocks and dirt of the river floor. Tzel silently stroked beneath the water able to see very little as he swam, and soon was being informed by his lungs that it was time to surface for air. Tzel faced a bank and slowly reached the surface, shaking his head a little. He looked up at the moon and the sky above looking at the sky happily until one of his ears twitched as it detected the sound of something else moving in the water behind him. Tzel’s eyes grew wide, realizing he was naked in the water, and no longer alone, and cautiously he turned, glad that where he was, the water was up to his neck so his body was obscured beneath the water. Tzel slowly turned and what met his eyes was a scenario worse than he had thought it might have been. “Eeep!” Managed to escape his lips involuntarily and quickly one of his tails moved to obscure his eyes. “I-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i….I’m sorry I-i-I d-d-didn’t know a-a-anyone else w-w-was out h-here. I-i-i-i d-d-didn’t see a-a-anything I p-pr-promise! I’m sorry!” If Tzel had been scarlet before, they would need a new name for the shade of red his face was now. His hazel eyes were blocked by one of his tails; but the majority of his face could still be seen. Tzel had not lied. The flustered and embarrassed kitsune truly had seen nothing more than Aya’s head above the water; but that, and her clothes on the shore behind her, was enough to let him know what sort of state she was in and how embarrassing a situation he had managed to swim in on. The young kitsune expected the white haired male to swoop from the skies and spear him dead at any moment, and his ears were pressed against hi head half expecting to hear a shriek and angry, distraught, and surprised cries from the beautiful woman demanding he leave as quickly as possible. Tzel you nitwit, look what your daydreaming has gotten you into now. Edited by Tzel, Aug 19 2009, 06:29 PM.

Aya was unaware of the other that had chosen to bathe on the same night; her thoughts were too preoccupied on other things, Ceres, Genshu...Valcrist. Worries of home Concerns of a new land, uncertainty of where this road was going to lead her, taking her hands to her head she massaged her scalp, its purpose to rub the plagues of her mind away and to rub the cleansing soap and water. It was a hard commodity to come across but she had packed some before they left, its smell was the old age sandalwood. She looked up to the nights sky it was littered with stars, each one trying to outshine the last. The moon too beat down upon them brightly as if to make its sister the sun jealous. And then a shriek, a splash and the stammering of innocence; Aya turned her head over her shoulder not alarmed, strangely enough but out of curiosity, to see and very shy Tzel, tails covering his eyes but not unfortunately his beet red face. She smiled softly, very little escaped her perception, he blushed more than any other youth she had come across, usually it was most often men who were too cock sure of themselves. Over confidence, boastings that they couldn’t live up too, broken promises, endless disappointment... Tzel on the other hand was innocent, pure and not hers to be plucked; she smiled somewhat disappointed when that fact came to mind. Indeed he didn’t see her and she couldn’t see him either, despite the brightness of the moon, she was kind enough to their modestly in the murky darkness of the water. It wasn’t uncommon from where she hailed from that both sexes bathed together in the warmth of hot springs and this hadn’t been her first encounter, where someone had walked in on her bathing. She reached out for him, taking hold of his arm and pull him closer, but not too close that it would terrify the boy into a petrified state and render him to the bottom of the river. ”Tzel! You’re so dirty!” she cooed at him playfully, not really implying if she was talking about his grubby state or if he had an equally grubby mind, soap in hand she rubbed it into his hair, building a lather, Bathing was wonderfully bonding for mother and child, she did it with Ceres every time she could. It was the only way to really keep the kit in water long enough to be clean, otherwise her fur would be matted with random leaves and twigs, and dirt from her wonderings. |

Tzel could not imagine how things could possibly get much worse. On the bright side, she was sure taking a long time to scream at him. Suddenly a gentle touch was on his arm and Tzel felt himself being pulled closer. In surprise and confusion he let his tail move so that his vision was no longer obscured and he was looking into the eyes of Aya. Now only a couple feet away from the woman, were it possible for him to blush any more, he certainly would have. Aya’s enchanting voice cooed at him in a way that seemed oddly familiar. He heard her words and was quick to re-state that he had seen nothing inappropriate and try to explain he had not known she would be in the water as well. “I swear I didn’t see anyth-” he was cut short as water splashed off her porcelain arms and into his face. Both the surprise of this and the sudden assault on his head caused him to stop short. “Blach! What’re ya doing to me!?” he exclaimed as his arms flailing out and pushing away the hands, which quickly returned to his scalp. “Oy! Watch my eyes! What is this smelly stuff!?” his foxy ears twitched as he crinkled his nose and squirmed under the soapy assault. In truth, he rather liked the feeling; but age old habbits from memories almost forgotten had surfaced first. He would soon simply give in and allow himself to be cleaned. There was still a feeling of strangeness at his somewhat lengthy hair being dealt with by a relative stranger; but something about Aya made it so Tzel didn’t much mind. What’s more, the sudden action had chased his blushing away, as his mind had been successfully distracted from the knowledge that he and this woman were both bare in the water. |

As he struggled against her cleaning she simple took hold of his wrists and moved them away, he flailed and panicked just like a child, for some reason she pictured him being a small kit, streaking through his house screaming ‘NOOOO BAFF!!’ his mother on tail, with a rag and soap in hand. She gave one brief laugh to the idea before gingerly taking a rag and washing behind his fox ears. ”It is called soap and judging from your appearance you do not come into contact with it often!” She looked at his face, the blood had decided to stop flushing it with its crimson colour he had finally calmed down she gave it one great rub before taking hold of his shoulders she made him turn around so she could get to scrubbing the layer of grime at his neck and back. Her soap was usefully tied with a red rope that she slid over her arm and the cloth over her bare shoulder; as she cupped bare water and dripped it over his head to wash away the foam that she had created. ”Close your eyes now” She spoke softly to him in a sort of mothering tone, once finished she rung out her wash cloth before cleansing her own tones looking up to the sky one more time with a sigh... She wondered about this strange youth, surely he had a family, a mother, a mother who worried for him like she did with Ceres. ”how does your mother feel, with you wondering the land like this? Does she not worry? What would she say knowing you were spying on Females bathing?” At her last remark she turned to wink at him before wiping around her jaw and neck Edited by Aya, Aug 21 2009, 11:03 AM.

Tzel hunched a little as his ears were being handled. Normally his reaction would be to whirl around and swing at anyone who would touch his sensitive ear; but something truly was familiar and gentle about her touch seemed to soothe him. She mentioned that by the look of him he did not come into contact with soap often and the younger kitsune’s cheeks pinkened a little. “I know what soap is…” he mumbled just before she rubbed his face with the rag. Then Tzel turned around. He could feel her move his wet and lathered hair out of the way so she could get at his neck and back. Memories were flooding back flickering before his mind in shards like fragments of a broken window. He saw images of himself in a pond… no a hot spring…no a tub, as a young kit. There was a beautiful woman with him then too. As back then, he now felt a few drops of water drip upon his head. Then the voice from the past and Aya’s voice spoke in unison. “Close your eyes now.” Tzel did as commanded and the water came pouring down on him. As the water splashed over him it washed away the soap, and the memory. Tzel shook slightly flicking away some water droplets and looked up at the night sky for a moment quietly. He turned back to look at Aya again, trying to think of something to say, when she spoke again. Her questions struck deep; but the joke at his expense softened the blow. His face flushed deep pink and he objected “I wasn’t spying!” He looked away from her again self consciously, as if he to re-affirm that he was not doing as accused. Afraid if he looked towards her that she might think her jokes were more true than she realized. While looking away, the questions floated back to his mind, part of him wanted to ignore them, but part of him deep down, told him it was safe to trust this woman. Something about her seemed to soothe part of his spirits like no one else could. “I haven’t seen Mama in a long time.” Tzel said, still using the childish name for his mother, as he always had and always would. “Long before I left home… I probably wouldn’t have left if she was still there….. She left us one night, in a bolt of lightning she went to the heavens to make the sky stop crying…. She hasn’t found her way home yet; but I think she still looks after me….” He looked back at Aya, as he spoke his last few words on the subject. The usually bright and hopeful eyes of the younger Kitsune, were shimmering as if on the verge of tears, sadness and loss starting to peek through his hazel eyes with their rings of gold. “…I miss her” he didn’t know why he told Aya this last part. It was not an answer to her questions, and his father had told him a long time ago that such things would not make it any better. Tzel was unsure why he had felt compelled to share this news, and hated that he had proved his farther right. Telling Aya did not make it feel any better, in fact he felt closer to the pain and loss of the night his mother vanished, than he had in a long time. Edited by Tzel, Aug 21 2009, 11:45 PM.

Aya looked at the younger Kitsune as he spoke, he was so sad, beaten and down trodden, a little sigh escaped her mouth ’oh’ it said, as she reached out for him, taking either side of his head in cool hands, she looked at his tear filled eyes for a moment, pain written across her face, she didn’t like reopening old wounds and she was deeply sorry, but she didn’t know how to say so, she knew of loss, how could you tell another you were sorry for theirs when... well that sorry would not change things. She pulled his head towards her shoulder, since he was almost a whole head taller than her, porcelain arms, embracing his neck, while she stroked his still damp hair with delicate fingers. For a moment she said nothing, there was very little to say, she looked to the stars the celestial courts for answers... His mother was taken in a flash of lightning to make the sky stop crying... Kitsune never die they just return to the celestial courts... Her eyes widened in sudden realisation, letting go of Tzel she wondered back to where her robe has been left, before stepping out she gave him a look as if to tell him to look away. As soon as he did, she stepped out of the river dying she roughly before loosely tying her robe around herself, she knelt on the floor both arms stretched out in front of her, both palms pointing down to the dry earth below her, and she said nothing for a while as her eyes were closed, in deep meditation. She suddenly opened both eyes again with a soft smile. ”Tzel how about we try and find your mother so you can speak to her?” tilting her head in a playful way, she knew he was probably wondering how on earth they were going to go about that. Aya didn’t just have pale arms kept in her sleeves. Edited by Aya, Aug 22 2009, 04:07 PM.

The surprise, and pain soon appeared on her face. Tzel held fast, lightly biting his lip to keep from any more of what was bottled inside of him from getting out. The soothing touch of her gentle hands was soon upon either side of his face and this time the odd familiarity of it seemed to push him a little farther. A single tear rolled down his cheek as he looked into her blue-moon eyes. She pulled him closer and Tzel did not fight it at all. His head resting on her soft shoulder. He felt her cool, porcelain arms wrap around his neck and her delicate fingers lightly stroking his dripping locks. The closeness and the familiarity was too much for Tzel to fight any longer. He bit his lip trying to resist; but to no avail and soon he was shaking with silent sobs as he wrapped his arms around the kind woman. His tanned skin contrasted greatly with her flesh, which was as pale as the moonlight that bathed them both. She held him like that for a long moment and Tzel fought to stop the tars from continuing to fall upon her white shoulder. Tears do us no good, son, they do not bring back what we have lost, and they do not heal the pain. His father's words, reverberated in his mind and it was one of the few things his father told him, that Tzel seemed to follow. As the tears were stopped, against the will of his spirit, he felt Aya pull away and quickly released her. He watched her until she glanced towards him near the bank, and he knew what she wished him to do. Tzel stayed turned away from her, he instead busied himself by looking up at the moon and the stars and fighting down the emotions in him. He wiped away his eyes so it would be hardly apparent that he had been crying. He was certian she was likely dressed by now; but still did not turn round for he had not been told to do so and it was always better to be safe than sorry. When she spoke, he turned around again and the expression on his face was one of hesitancy and near-hurt. "I have been trying to find my Mama for a long time. My father and many kitsune searched the whole world over. No one has been able to find her yet..." His words were not angry or cold simply sad in tone and factual in nature as he slowly walked towards Aya. The tone of his next words would be more of hesitant hopefulness. This wouldn't be the first time he'd been lied to or deceived about such a thing. "Do....do you really think we can?" Tzel was leaving his fragile spirit in her hands and giving her a chance, if she was deceiving him, to turn back before she might wound him deeply. The younger kitsune had quickly felt he could trust this woman, or at least he wanted to. Slowly he reached waist depth in the water and as he continued to walk out, it would appear as if he was clad in a white wrap to conceal his indecency. The wrap seemed to be made of material not tangible; but woven from dense mists, still it seemed to do the job of hiding his anatomy. It was rather short; but somehow no matter how he would move it would seem to keep him covered. This was one of Tzel's illusions, which he had created with barely a thought. Timidly, the brown haired boy with golden bangs moved to a few feet in front of Aya, and sat down cross legged. Silently he watched her and his ears were perked listening for an answer. His four tails slowly swaying behind him as water dripped off the golden and brown fur. |

As he waded out the water towards her she quite kindly cast her eyes upwards expecting they shy boy to want to cover himself up, however the smell of magic was in the air, it made her skin goose pimple and the fine downy hair on her arms stand on end, Illusions... the feeling of them were as distinct to a Kitsune, it excited them down to their cores, it was as distinct as the taste of lemons. Aya watched him briefly, amused by the misty loin cloth he had created for himself, she did not stare however that would of been unapporopreate; closing her moon coloured eyes once more, taking one deep breath before exhaling it slowly, slowing her breathing her breathing, lowering her heartbeat, such things were needed to reach mentally the celestial plain, that is where she would look first, it was their first option. ‘She left us one night, in a bolt of lightning she went to the heavens to make the sky stop crying….’ Kitsune did not die, their souls just became free from their earthly presence leaving them too wonder from world to world... those who did this, the celestial courts where the first resting point before their never ending journey. ”One thing about our race is that we can cross many plains, sometimes we cross to the celestial courts, other times to other worlds... dimensions, I too have gotten stuck in such a place, perhaps your father and you have just been looking in the wrong place” Her voice was barely above a whisper, it was breathy and soft, since most of her energy went into creating a ‘calling’. She sensed some distrust from the youth as he marvelled at her workings, not like they had really started to work. A frown crossed her face, the fact that someone could doubt her, when she was trying to help them. They sat there a moment as she pondered his question, her pearl coloured tails fanned out behind her. Could she help him find his mother? The answer she didn’t know, it was just something they were just going to have to try. ”We will just have to wait and see” She lowered her arms to take hold of his wrists and raise his arms up to the same level hers were previously; she entwined her fingers with his, to make sure her held them there and also to build a telepathic bond, the first ability to be added to a mixture to call upon those beyond their gaze. Her touch was always pleasantly cold, and his hands pleasantly warm, although clammy, she was unsure if it was clammy because of his usual nerves around her or just from the water. A light blue mist started to engulf them, tiny shining orbs of blue radiated in and out of this mist, spirits for they moved with an intelligence that wasn’t found with orbs of magic. The calling, Aya’s most prized ability, it was only the product of several of her skills entwined together, she had used it to call home her people, to call a past lover to her, to seek answers of the dead and of course, call her ever loyal Genshu. Soon the mist covered the beautiful scenery they were in and they looked as if they sat within a cloud of, silver and hue. ”Our ‘lady’ who rest within the courts of the celesta, this devoted vixen asks for your forgiveness for trespassing on hallow realms. But I seek another Vixen, I plead with you, to let me seek within the world beyond mine” There was no response from whom Aya referred to as the ‘lady’, in fact there was no response from anything in the mist, Aya, reopened her eyes and looked about her with a frustrated sigh, letting her hand sit in her lap , letting go of Tzel's clammy hand, Why had no one answered her? Then as if she has thought it allowed several yelps, and calls, echoed from the mist, fox calls, the seemed to grow in number. Their foxy outlines peaking through the mist, you could tell which element they were from for those of the fire genus their fur was wild and rugged like flames, some whose tails stood on end with fox fire at the end of them. The water Kitsune where much sleeker like flowing water, theirs tails did no standstill, and moved contently like a waterfall. Those of earthly essence, where strongly rooted, and heavy on their front, some had antlers, and so the gather full circle around them, silhouettes in the mist. Then she came, a lady, through the mist her elegant robes flowed with an magic unknown, plainly Kitsune for her hears sat not at the top, not the side but at an angle, and they were distinctly large, but that was not what you would noticed about her shadow first, no it would be the uncountable tails that surrounded her., unlike the others her eyes could be seen through the mist, they had no fixed colour but smoothly changed through the kaleidoscope. Aya bowed deeply, her elbows tucked in and her finger tips neatly touching, she rose again and smiled warmly at the Kitsune vixen between Kitsune. ”I thank you most deeply, my ‘lady’. Here is yet another one of you children, He seeks his mother, and it is most likely she passed though here, before continuing beyond?” The shadow said nothing... Edited by Aya, Aug 23 2009, 01:43 PM.

Tzel said nothing as Aya suggested that perhaps they had simply been looking in the wrong place. Tzel took in the new information about his species and pretended as if it was already known to him as well. It was a particular point of embarrassment to Tzel, the lack of knowledge he had about his own species. Both history, as well as simple facts about the species, were kept from him. Tzel had simply figured the plan had been that he would learn these things later in life, from his mother. He presumed that after she vanished, his father had simply been far too busy to teach him, and he had not stayed around long enough to give him the chance. The truth of the matter was far less…coincidental. However, Tzel had yet to learn that truth. Tzel listened to her answer to his question. She had chosen careful words, she was not deceiving him, he trusted her, and she had been careful not to get his hopes up should her plan, whatever it may be, fail. Tzel felt her cool hands meet his wrists, and he allowed her to guide his arms with ease. He scooted a little closer to her as she intertwined his fingers with hers. Her cool hands felt nice against his damp skin, and again Tzel was able to notice how intriguingly their two skin tones contrasted. Soon, however, he would have much more interesting things to call his attention. The mist began to move about and the fidgety younger kitsune couldn’t help but squirm a bit as he looked around watching it roll in from nowhere. He could feel it all around… magic. Soon he spotted the strange orbs floating about within the mists and could not bring himself to ignore them. Tzel watched with mild fascination as the strange lights seemed to move about aimlessly, yet at the same time with purpose. A contradiction? Yes, but kitsune were often paired with such oddities. Soon, their surroundings no longer looked like where they had been, Tzel wondered if this was what it was like to be within the heavens. Aya spoke, and Tzel thought her words sounded like a prayer. There was silence, and Tzel really did expect something interesting to follow those words. It seemed Aya expected the same for she released his hands and gave a frustrated look to the mists. Tzel looked about too as if somehow adding his eyes would enable them to find whatever it was she had expected to see. Soon, though, it would be made easily apparent to both of them as the yipping calls of other kitsune could be heard coming from all around. He watched, astonished, as figures emerged from the mists. Wonder filling his eyes at all the strange figures that were present; but hidden through the mists. It was quite apparent to any who looked at him, that the kitsune was doing all he could to keep himself from bounding towards them and trying to touch them. To see closer what was hiding just beyond his vision. Were those…antlers? Fire…water… earth... where do we fit in? His mind wondered absentmindedly as the elements of these figures seemed to announce themselves to his mind. Then she appeared. He knew right away this must have been “the lady” Aya had spoken of. There was a sense of incredible familiarity to her. Closeness and distance at the same time emanated from the shadowy figure and her countless swishing tails. Tzel felt admiration, awe, and a twinge of fear at the sight of that silhouette with glowing eyes which pierced the mist. Aya rose to her feet and bowed; but Tzel was too awestricken to do anything but marvel at the manifestation before him. He was still seated on the ground, as he had been, with his upper body turned so he might face them directly. His mouth hung partially open and Tzel barely registered that Aya was speaking, let alone what she said. However, he was soon wishing he had been able to focus more on the words for soon the kaleidoscope gaze was fixed on him, and Tzel felt as if she was looking through his very soul. He bit his lip to stop it from trembling, and stared back as best he could. Tzel almost didn’t realize, when she moved one hand to her side and another figure appeared in the mists. This shadowy figure was more hazy and hard to pick out from the mists, than any of the others. The circle parted slightly to allow it to be more noticeable; but the shadow did not grow any darker. Still, it only took a moment for Tzel to recognize the shape. He knew who it was, with every fiber of his being, he was certain that was his mother. In disbelief, Tzel looked to the lady, she stood silent and as she had been when she first appeared. Quickly his attention was on the shadow that faded in and out from the mists. “Mama?” He stated in a strained whisper, his eyes brimming with tears once more. Tzel noticed Aya move so that where she stood, she was not obscuring his view of the shadow; but was now in the same direction and facing him as she was. “Tzel? Is that my little boy?” The voice came from Aya’s lips; but by the looks of her glowing white eyes, Tzel knew she was not the one in charge of her words. His mother’s voice had spilt from her mouth, it sounded distant, faint, strained slightly, but unmistakably the gentle, sweet, voice of his mother. “It’s me Mama, It’s me. I’ve been looking all over for you! Mama, where have you gone? Why can’t I see you?” Tzel’s voice was frantic, and carried urgency as well as the shift in tone caused by choked back tears. “Shhhhh, shhhhhhh. Hush baby, I’m here little prince.” As Aya spoke in the voice of his mother, she seemed to move as she would as well. Her soft hands reaching out to stroke his cheek softly. “I’m sorry Tzel, I can not tell you where I am, and this is as clear as the lady dare let me become. This is far more than should be allowed as it is; be sure to thank the lady, as I will, for this gift.” “But Mama! I don’t understand! Why can’t I see you, why can’t you tell me where you are?” “In time son, in time you will learn. Lets just enjoy this gift while it lasts. Is your sister with you? How is my little Paxamil?” Aya, acting as the bridge, continued to stroke his cheek, and with her other hand, held his hand tightly. The words brought pain to Tzel, the pain of guilt and the longing to know what had become of his mother. “No Mama… she’s with Daddy… I’ve run away from home. I wanted to find you, and to have adventures like in my storybooks…I’m sorry Mama, I know you told me to watch after her…” Tzel began to cry and again she hushed him soothingly. Aya wiped the tears from his eyes and pulled him closer stroking his hair in a way only his mother ever had. “It’s ok my little prince, I am sure she is safe with your father. No need for tears of sorrow. Not on the face of such a handsome young man. I see you have been a good boy, taking good care of all four of your tails. I’m sure you have been having wonderful adventures. I always knew you wouldn’t want to live the life of your father, in Soto. You aren’t a spirit to be bothered with the trappings of office and politics.” The proud and soothing words that escaped her lips were enough to stop Tzel’s tears… He looked on through the mists wishing that he could see her. He closed his eyes, and for a moment could truly believe Aya was his mother. “I miss you Mama… So much… I promise I am going to find you. I’ll bring you home.” He held on to Aya tightly as he spoke and the embrace was returned. He felt her soft hands gently rubbing his back for a moment. “I miss you too son, and I believe you will be able to do whatever you set your heart on. No matter what, Tzel, you remember to be yourself, and follow your heart. I…. I have to go now Tzel. I love you very much, if you see Pax, tell her I love her too. I am sorry I could not stay longer. The lady says that time is up. Be a good boy.” This time the tears being held back, could be heard in her voice too. “ Wait Mama! Not yet! Please don’t go!” Tzel begged as he held tighter to her as if that would be able to change things. “Mama please, when will I see you again?” “ When you learn why the sky is weeping, you will know why I have gone.” She replied in a cryptic manner. Then leaning in with Aya’s lips, she gently kissed her beloved child on the forehead. She began to release him and started to step away. “Mama! I love you too. Please don’t go, not yet.” He whimpered feebly but it was to little avail. There was a soft smile on Aya’s lips and an gentle, final, squeeze of his hand before she stepped away and her eyes faded back to their true colors. Behind her, Tzel watched the shadow of his mother vanish. He wanted to bound after her, to run and grab hold; but somehow he knew it would do nothing. He looked to the lady, desperate and broken. “Please? Why did she have to go? Can’t you tell me anything?” There was no reply from the shadows, and Tzel felt guilt weigh on him again. He hung his head in shame and when he looked back up with shimmering eyes, he simply offered a feeble. “I’m sorry… thank you for the gift…” and once more hung his head as he bit his lip to keep from crying. He knew not what else he was to say or do at this point. He felt like he had found a part of him, long gone, only to lose it once more. When you learn why the sky is weeping, you will know why I have gone. |

Aya had always been a devoted servant to the lady, she was merciful and kind just like a mother should be, she was the first of their kind, her tails reflected her immense power, age and most importantly her Generosity. She gestured to the shadows, and Aya felt as if something had rammed her into a wall, knocking the wind from her. She tried to gasp and gag, but her lungs did not belong to her, she felt herself pushed back within her own mind and eyes behind a curtained veil. This was not her first possession by another Kitsune, it had happened once before a long time ago, its familiarity however did not remove the unpleasantness of the experience, and she felt her energy slowly drained as each neither word leaked from her lips that were neither a voice nor word of her own. Tzel’s mother had a kind soul, she could feel it, she was a proud and dutiful mother just like herself, but duty called elsewhere, her own calling, her own destiny and this is why she abandoned her pups, this too would shape their own destiny also. The truth was obscured from her by the lady; she felt her anger burn within her as she started to pry. Those that had the gift to call to world beyond theirs were not often allowed to see the future, or were not ’yet’ allowed to see the future. Words that unwilling popped into her head, maybe a piece of her own destiny revealed. It was strange watching her own body move and talk on its own, slightly fascinated she did not follow the conversation, this was also to be respectful, and let Tzel have his private moment with his mother. Her thoughts wondered to before when she told Tzel of one of many Kitsune abilities, he nodded and seemed to already know about it, but she could tell from his lack of experience he had no idea of his people, she had much to teach him. His mother’s spirit tingled within her those ideas’s seemed to be approved from the young kit’s mother. Time was drawing to an end, the warning echoed within her feelings, the lady who spoke without words just raw emotion; this is how she spoke to her children. Tzel’s pleas snapped Aya out from her dream like state, his mother did not want to leave, but Aya was feeling incredibly weak, she felt the other vixen’s spirit plucked out of her from a third party, gagging and gasping finally Aya collapsed to the floor, her arms holding herself up. Trembling she sat up to watched the shadows of those who had already departed, the lady was the last to depart, her eyes seemed to smile at the two of them before the mist was broken by sunlight, dawn had arrived on them, the sun was already climbing its accent on the sky. Aya let the sun fall on her for a moment, it was not a proper feeding but it would be enough to help her keep her form and not fall to her natural raw state; she turned to Tzel, he was still very distressed, she didn’t heal the hurt, but considered it more of an open wound. ”Your mother loves you... She wouldn’t of left if she didn’t need too sometimes callings are too powerful... trust me I know, I have left my little Ceres to pursue my destiny and also secure hers...” There seemed to shouts and calls through the thick dense forest, form camp, it had seemed they had been found missing. Once again being cast in shadow, as a giant roc flew over head, spotting them it cried out its call unmistakeable in the silence of the morn, it landed in the midst’s of the river its powerful wings pushing away the water as its settled its powerful claws in the muddy river bed, it was an amazing beast to gaze upon. Its white feather glistened in the morning light, his eyes burned of sheer light energy, a power that should have been very familiar to Tzel. ”Genshu~” Aya said in a sigh of relive. The beast wings covered its eagle like body, before shrinking in size wings reopening, and fading in the light, the Kitsune form of Genshu waded towards them, a look of concern written across his face at both of them, Aya who was completely drained of energy and Tzel distressed as he could be. |

Tzel saw Aya fall, and guilt weighed on him more, both for not catching her, and for being the reason of her fall. He moved beside her and srouched low at the same time as her beautiful face lifting to look at him. She appeared to be alright, which allowed him to feel a little better about the ordeal. Tzel listened to the words that came from her lips and they were of little comfort, save for the reassuring first words. He knew she loved him, it was just always nice to hear. Tzel was on his knees in front of Aya, and he looked at her for a moment saying nothing before he leaned forwards and put his arms around her again. “Thank you.” He whispered before the sounds of others calling caused him to let go as they both looked about. Tzel grew nervous, and even more so when suddenly the sky darkened. Looking towards the river, at the great Roc, Tzel was daunted. Were it not for the serious emotions he was still struggling with, he probably would have been more fascinated or excited. As it was he simply watched, wondering what could possibly come next on this strange and painful night. The great beast soon became Genshu, and Tzel was now aware why he had seemed odd. Soon nerves sprang up as he realized how things appeared. She was fallen, and clearly tired, while the whole camp was seeking her out. Here, Tzel the stranger, was standing beside her, in nearly no clothing. This could not end well, her sigh of relief could be interpreted in many ways, and Tzel simply hoped Genshu didn’t choose one that would free him of the weight of his head. “I’m sorry I have tired your friend.” he stated with an apologetic bow towards the figure. Able to fight the fear from him but speaking in a less than spirited voice. He felt drained, the sadness was still there, and it weighed upon him. "Thank you for your gift Aya, I can never repay it. However, I will try my best by leading you all to Madrid as soon as you wish." With that being said, he looked away and took several paces from her so Genshu could tend to Aya, and not worry about the stranger hovering too close. Tzel headed towards where his paper tent was, to gather the maps he had made and store thing so he could be ready to leave when asked to do so. Stopping along the way to gather his clothing so he was dressed in more than the conjurations of his mind. Edited by Tzel, Aug 26 2009, 07:31 PM.

Genshu watched the boy leave before dealing with his fallen mistress, he knelt beside her before touching her, he had learnt a long time ago that touching Aya when she was most drained could signal the end of both of them, he cringed at the memory of her almost sucking his life-force dry. A untouching hand sweeped over her delicate frame, scanning her energy, seeking the pulsaiting feeling from her he felt when she fed, there was nothing out the ordinary. Sweeping her up in his arms he held her close for a moment as the bond they shared revealed to him the night’s events. Aya said nothing and just smiled at him, resting her head against his chest and closed her eyes; Genshu shook his head at her and held her tighter before scowling at her. ”You know better than to push beyond your limits... And a possession too... I don’t know what has overcome you, but this boy!” She raised cold fingertips to silence him in his rant, despite Genshu’s words never came from his voice, it had done the trick, He had ceased. Foolish of him to think that this vixen did no less but help others and did something against her will, not to mention beyond her level of selflessness; Carrying her back to camp there were many faces of concern from the party who had landed from the distant island, however they knew better than too project those faces into anything more vocal, a few of the younger Kitsune shot the paper tent of Tzel scowling looks of anger. Pushing open the flap of her tent Genshu set Aya back on her bed. Ceres yelped a welcome while darting too and throw upon silken sheets, Genshu gave the kit a look to calm herself, despite her young age already knew that now was not the time to tax her mother or her guardian. Aya relaxed and before Genshu could pull away from her, she rested her hand on his shoulder with a sense of urgency; Her free hand rested against her chest, as she pulled it away an orb no bigger than a large marble before offering it to Her guardian who was forged of light energy as his very being. ”Are you Certain? You know how it will leave us both, if you do...” With a Gentle bow of her head she pressed the marble into his chest, drawing back his lips and baring his fangs as his well formed illutioned self absorbed Aya’s Kitsune Orb into his very essence, he staggered back his hand gripping to his chest, repressing the burn of their two energy’s he stood straight and bowed, for the moment the two were one. Already colour had returned to The Ayamaian Empress cheeks, she stood, ready to dress she gave Genshu a look that needed no words, nor communication, her mind was his. Bowing once more he left, walking towards the humble tent of Tzel. With each step he took towards the humble abode, Aya’s own magic flowed through his blood, his simple outfit of leather pants and a white shirt changed to armour black as night with golden trim, across his shoulders a heavy cloak the colour of blood draped over his poldrons and his feet booted and ready for the days tasking at hand, pausing outside, Genshu forced his words out to the boy who he did not like, he sensed a trouble about the boy, a trouble that the newly landed party did not need. ”Do you have that map ready for me to check?” Edited by Aya, Nov 12 2009, 05:01 PM.
