Welcome to Elenlond, an original medieval fantasy forum! We're always looking for new, dedicated members.


Elenlond is composed of two continents: Soare and Esiria. Esiria, a land now isolated due to the efforts of the last remaining Goddess, is inaccessible to all beings and lies in the east. Soare, a continent in the west, is composed of three distinct nations: Ashoka, Soto, and Morrim. Lying between the two major continents are the Scattered Isles. Since the dissolution of the pantheon and the fall of the gods, these countries have existed in relative peace and prosperity.

But how long will that peace last?

I've been making some changes to Soto, to make its system a bit different from that of Morrim and Ashoka. I'm not quite finished with its information yet, so I'm just going to post the pointform notes I have for now, so that everyone can get a general idea.

  • Soto is a guild-based nation now
  • All members of society should belong to a guild (if one doesn't, they are seen as an outcast of sorts and denied guild priviledges and special deals)
  • The council of Soto is the exception to the above; all 12 members either relinquish their place in the guild or are those who don't belong to one at all - either way, to be a Councillor they must be neutral to all guilds
  • Major guilds: trading/sea-faring guild in Reine, Justice guild in Madrid, travelling guild (all of Soto), merchant guild, assassin's guild, spell caster guild, warrior guild, etc etc.
  • Guilds can be created by anyone at any time, but they must be registered at a "Counting House" (counts the number of guilds there are)
  • Guilds police themselves for the most part - Justice guild has control over the courts, the jails, the police, and delivers just as it sees fit
  • If Soto chooses to go to war, the guilds choose whether or not they wish to participate; if they decide not to go to war, Soto will not. If Soto is attacked, however, they don't have a choice.
  • Guilds make their own laws that members must follow, but these laws encompass all guilds and people in Soto
  • There is no noble hierarchy in Soto; you either belong to a guild or you don't, but between the guilds there is a hierarchy
  • Most guilds will only allow a Sotoan citizen to be in their guild; very few allow outsiders in, save for some of the wandering guilds


That's all I have so far; I'm working on the guild laws, guild names, and other little details slowly. For the time being however, consider this Soto's new system, and if you have questions, drop me a line.
