SUMMER

Angkar: Wet season. Precipitation is common during the late afternoon and evening hours. Vegetation grows significantly during the summer, but flooding is a danger due to the monsoons that ravage the country. The rainforest sees evenly distributed rainfall throughout the season.

Ashoka: Desert: Extremely hot and dry. Violent, heavy downpours following long dryspells. Jungle: Hot and humid with frequent, violent rainstorms.

Morrim: Relatively hot and dry, but with a chance of thunderstorms from time to time. The heat may cause forest fires.

Soto: Hot and humid, tree cover is dense while ground growth is restricted. Thunderstorms see the most amount of rainfall during the season, and it can be very windy. On occasion, there are flash floods that can destroy homes and farms built on flood plains.

WHAT IS ELENLOND?

Elenlond is an original free-form medieval fantasy RPG set on the continent of Soare and the Scattered Isles, which are located to the south in the Sea of Diverging Waters. The four chief nations of the western side of the world—Ashoka in northern Soare, Soto in western Soare, Morrim in eastern Soare, and Angkar, the largest of the Scattered Isles—continue to experience growth and prosperity since the fall of the Mianorite gods, although power struggles within the countries—or outside of them—continue to ensue.

  • CURRENT EVENTS

    Angkar: To honour the reinvigoration of the ancient city of Mondrágon, the majestic Queen Eulalia has permitted the opening of a Coliseum where people from around the world and all walks of life can test their combat skills against one another. Many have already done battle in search of honour, glory, prizes and money.

    Ashoka: In an otherwise peaceful times, Ashokans are beset with the relatively minor inconveniences of wandering undead and occasionally-aggressive giant rock worms. There has also been some controversy over the recent re-legalisation of human sacrifice.

    Morrim: Rumour has it that Emperor Leofric de Hollemark is mustering forces for a war. Though the threat from Soto’s forests has passed, the forces previously employed in watching the forest now linger at the border. Rumours also circulate of a small group that has been dispatched to make contact with the tribes of the Do’suul Mountains.

    Soto: The Sotoans have defeated the fey and liberated themselves from Méadaigh’s oppression! Preliminary efforts have been made at rebuilding the city of Madrid, which had been captured at the beginning of the war. However, the Sotoans are hindered from recovery famine. Méadaigh’s magic caused summer to persist in the Erth’netora Forest through the winter. Her power has been withdrawn and the plants die as if preparing for winter – even though it is now summer. The Sotoans must sustain off what food they can get, what creatures they can kill and what can be imported into the city from Morrim and Angkar.

    Weapons – Throwing knives(x8)/stars(x8), Dagger, Slingshot. Bow and arrow when riding.

    Physical Appearance – Bright cerulean eyes glow beneath Yelena's dark, arching brows, the pupil ringed by a translucent ice blue. These eyes rarely change, although they may become darker at Yelena's will. Voluminous locks of layered dark brown hair fall to her shoulders, long bangs hiding her eyes in an instant with the flick of her neck. Her features are soft, with sensuous lips and a gently sloping nose. Her skin is slightly tan from exposure, though it is naturally fair.

    Yelena's lithe form stands at 5'4". She will usually dress in men's wear of dark browns, greens, and blacks, and always wears special black boots with padded soles and strong metal reinforced toes and frames. Her costume, when on a mission, consists of a black doublet lined with light chain mail with dark leather tights. Three belts wrap around her body: one around her waist, which holds her throwing stars; one around her hips, which holsters her slingshot and ammunition on the right, while a small sachet for various items is on the left; and one around her left shoulder, on which are her sheathed throwing knives. Her dagger is concealed in a secret sheath on her left boot. Yelena also wears a mask [not for armor] which covers half of her face like a crescent moon – the entire left side of her face is covered, tapering at her chin, while the right side is uncovered except for her eye.

    Yelena wears one earring in her left ear, a silver crescent. This represents her deep connection to the creatures of the night, and also to the Goddess of the Moon. She also wears one ring on her left middle finger, a simple band of silver with a labradorite gem set in the center. A matching necklace hangs constantly around her neck, though out of sight under her clothes. Her mother gave these to her as parting gifts, and Yelena has never been able to part with them.

    Personality – Stoic would be a good word to describe Yelena, as well as patient, calm, meticulous, and precise. She has a quiet and careful personality, and is very secretive and deceiving by nature. Yet she is bound by an honor code that is held close by those of her bloodline valuing dignity above all else. Without her dignity, she would be an empty shell.

    Yelena is not loyal to any alignment; her field of work decides her current 'side', (for example, if the Good hires her, she is for the course of the assignment 'Good') but her heart has remained completely Neutral. If a task requires an assassination, Yelena kills as swiftly as possible. She hates to see another suffer, but she never shows her distress.

    Although Yelena is mainly a loner, she does not prefer to be alone. On longer journeys she rides an Elk by the name of Esbern, a longtime friend and companion. She rides rather than shifts to conceal her identity as a Shapeshifter. Because of her ability to shift, she has a strong connection with animals, and they will often accompany her during her travels. As far as other races go, Yelena enjoys quiet conversation and small gatherings, and she always has her eyes open for a mate, though she never actively seeks one out.

    Her one true fear is water – an irrational fear that has no known origin. Yelena has spent hours thinking about this dilemma, but can never trace it to anything in her past.

    History – Born from Shapeshifter parents, Yelena entered the world as a Mink, the preferred morph of her mother, Galina. She grew up in the lush forests of Soto, exploring the vast expanse of trees and vegetation beside her parents. Maksim, her father, favored the Panther, whose birthplace was the jungles of Ashoka. As Yelena grew older, she began to relish in the variety of activities the human form was able to perform, and expressed her wishes to become a member of human society. Her parents balked at her unusual enthusiasm (as a child she was just as stoic), but agreed to slowly introduce her into the human culture. Maksim himself had grown up in Soare Society and was quick to relearn many of the skills he had relinquished for the wilds. Galina, on the other hand, was brought up in the forest by her mother's small shifter tribe. She was timid and knew nothing of the civilized world and was afraid of its rush and complexity.

    Galina unexpectedly died the day Yelena turned 8 years old. It was an accident, a misfired arrow during a street brawl. Before her last breath, she gave to her daughter the ring and necklace. This turn of events caught Maksim and Yelena off-guard. Maksim never recovered; he took to drinking and made long journeys into the forest of Erth'netora. Yelena adapted well to the change, however shocking her mother's death. To support herself she began stealing small things and collecting dropped change from the streets. Yelena practiced shifting for hours on end when she was not 'hunting', until every shift was perfectly fluid and effortless. She attended school and did very well, before her father did not return. It had been over a month since his last departure, and it was taking its toll on her. Instead of studying during the night, she would slip into bars and swipe purses on coins in order to support herself. One night, the man she was stealing from caught her. But his expression was kind, and after consulting with his companions, offered to send her to a special school. Yelena, though ashamed of being caught, was quick to accept his offer. The school was the Guild of Thieves.

    Now living in a secure environment with room and board paid for by this kind man (who never revealed his name nor profession), Yelena was free to commit herself to learning the ways of the Thieves. Possessing a gift for this area of work, she was immediately commissioned the day she 'graduated' and entered the ranks of the Thieves. During her free hours with the little money she earned, Yelena took additional courses at other Guilds, building up her skills in shuriken, throwing daggers, slingshot, archery, and close-hand dagger techniques. Once comfortable in her abilities, Yelena took a five year journey, wandering where she would and learning the ways of the wilds. During her travels she found Esbern, the Elk that is her choice companion.

    As of now, Yelena is a full time Thief and Intelligencer (Spy), working for whoever needs her expertise. Yelena's life can be complicated, but being the stoic she is, lets the days pass one at a time, and accepts the path carved out for her.

    First Five Abilities
    • Shapeshifter – Yelena's pure Shifter blood runs swiftly through her veins, yet in her early stages of development she can only morph into basic creatures. She favors the Bat, Spider, Mink, and Panther.
    • Stealth I – Yelena is able to skulk around with quiet and precise movements, although she is still liable to detection.
    • Darkness I – Attached to morphs of the night creatures, Yelena prefers to work in dimmer light, thus is able to darken an area to a lesser degree (e.g. slightly dims the lights in a room and slightly increases the shadows).
    • Steal I – Small objects such as purses and knives are always at risk of being 'taken' when Yelena is present. Since this is a basic skill, her getaway is not 100%, although her Stealth and Speed aid this skill greatly.
    • Speed I – Yelena's quick movements aid her ability to swipe items with ease, and also keep any foe at bay by darting and ducking away from his attacks.
