The castle gates swing open as a carriage slowly plods through them, encumbered by the weight of several chests onboard. The chests contain within them the money and artifacts lost by ships that went down in the oceans surrounding Ankgar long ago. The seafaring treasure hunters found remnants of ships from both Eseria and Soare, as well as skips from Ankgar's distant past. Ankgar's ever-increasing need for a strong standing army and new weapon technologies have given the king the need for more money, and there is certainly plenty of it to be found lying beneath the waves around the island. And this is who is returning to Ildri now, bringing several chests full of their haul back into the castle. The men unload the chests and carry them down to the castle's dungeons, taking the chests into a room in the same area as Razarod's magically secured dengeons, featuring the same security measures: no magic may be cast in these areas of the castle, only designated royal guardsmen capable of using magic are wearing a charm that allows them to use magic in these areas. The walls are of a thick, heavy stone and the door of an equally heavy steel. The chests are left inside, while Razarod takes inventory of the items alone and then leaves, locking the door behind him. Two guards, lightly armored and holding spears, are left to watch over the door. The two men are behaving very casually about their duty down here, as the other security measures couldn't possibly be breached, they can joke freely amongst themselves without worry. Or maybe not, after all, one being has nearly beaten these security measures before... |

Sneaking into the Angkar castle was an arduous task in and of itself, but one that was certainly worth it. Drium had heard about the king, this Razarod person, and his sending out of parties to salvage treasures of old. The thought and desire to steal some of these highly valuable goodies for himself was too much to resist and so the demon thief’s quest to retrieve them began. Stealth was his forte, so he was able to stay undetected by the guards for a good while. Not everything was perfect however and he did get caught once, but he took care of that guard without much trouble and hid the unconscious body in a secluded location. The thief wasn’t aware of the magic restricting qualities of the dungeons, but that was alright for the most part as he hadn’t made use of anything magical on his journey thus far. He hadn’t made use of his daggers either, having decided that it would be a fun test to invade the castle while causing as little damage as physically possible. Eventually he made it down to the depths of the dungeon where the casual duo of guards protected the huge door. Drium was sure that this was where the treasure was being kept and he couldn’t keep a grin from forming on his face. He waited a little before silently counting to three before rushing in and ambushing the two of them. A heavy blow to the nose has the first guard out cold, smashing into the huge door behind him before slumping to the ground. The second, spear ready, stabs the bladed tip towards the intruder. The demon sidesteps, narrowly avoiding being skewered and grabs the shaft with both hands. A tug of war for the weapon ensues and the human is quickly outmatched, the weapon yanked from his grasp. The bunt end of the weapon then finds itself thrust into his abdomen before swung upwards to smack him in the jaw. The man is dazed, but not out and his attacker discards the weapon before rushing the guard, palming his face and slamming his head into the stone wall. Drium cringed as the man went limp and as he backed away he just hoped the guy wasn’t dead. Either way, there wasn’t much time to spend worrying about his fate. With both men now out of commission, Drium pauses and glances back down the hall just to make sure that no one else was heading his way. Seeing this to be the case, he turned his attention to the large steel door and set to work at picking at the lock. Luckily the thing wasn’t magically enchanted as that would’ve posed an insurmountable obstacle. Despite that though, it did take the demon a lot longer than he would have liked to get the thing to open. He was just beginning to get frustrated when the satisfying click of the lock reached his ears. He smirked and released a calming sigh in response before putting his weight into shoving the huge object open. Drium only opened it a little and he slipped inside before pushing the door shut once more and grinning to himself. “Time to get to work.” |

All the guards assigned to watch the treasure are now lying in the floor, the trauma inflicted upon their skulls by the intruder leaving them out cold for quite a while. But the intruder is not going to simply have an easy run from here on out at the treasure: Three more people have entered the dungeons and are now making their way to the treasure to check up on the situation. One of the three is another of the spearman guards that were already guarding the treasure. One is dressed only in normal clothing and apparently unarmed accompanies them. Although he does not appear to be the least bit dangerous, he is actually a bigger threat than the spearmen, being one of very few people able to use magic within the area under the castle. The third is King Razarod Evermore himself. Like the mage, Razarod is also able to use magic within the confines of the dungeons, although it is not his forte by any means. The trio notices that the first guard is not at his post and the other two immediately step in front of the king. The first line of defenses have been breached. The spearman tightens his grip on the handle and Razarod pulls out his sword. The group advances further until the come upon the steel door, seemingly closed tight and the room quiet. All would appear to be right, except for one glaringly obvious problem: Both of the guards who were assigned to watch the door are lying on the floor unconscious in somewhat painful-looking poses, and most likely not of their own accord. Either the person who breached the defenses already escaped, or.... They're still in the room with the treasure. The mage walks up to the door and presses a hand to it, attempting to see if any living beings are still in there as discretely as possible. His eyes widen as he feels Drium inside, and he turns around to the other two men and nods, and holds up a single finger. Razarod and the guard both move to the sides of the room, out of the line of sight from the treasure room itself, and the mage quickly pulls open the door. |

Drium worked quickly in going over the recovered inventory of the room. Most of the items were by far too large for him to him to even attempt to escape with, but there were a few things that were small enough to be easily taken. The demon wasn’t interested in coin however, and he passed by the chests that were only filled with it. He thought it would be a waste to break into the high security place just for some gold; if he wanted that he could have simply pickpocket some rich merchants, they had enough gold to sate his need for that. What he wanted was items, trinkets, jewelry, small artifacts, anything that he could easily make off with and sell for a very high price or make use of himself. There were a couple things of interest that he spied and he quickly snatched up a few rings, amulets and bracelets, an eager smile on his face. Though he was thoroughly into his thievery, Drium was still constantly aware of the large door behind him. Eventually the guards outside would wake up or a second group would come and notice the fallen which would ultimately lead to a scenario he wanted to avoid. Drium wasn’t particularly looking for a conflict, so he had to keep listening for any sign of movement other than his own in order to prepare, hide or flee. He paused then in his plundering to look around the cavernous room; there were no windows or anything that would allow him a quick getaway. The corner of his mouth twitched at that, but he shrugged. He hoped he wouldn’t have to fight his way out, but he wasn’t opposed to doing so if necessary. His head turned as the sound of footsteps, muffled by the heavy door tickled his sensitive feline ears. When the door suddenly swings open, the thief is nowhere to be found, crouched and hidden behind a stack of chests. Drium rolls his eyes to himself as he stays out of direct line of sight, slightly bothered at being discovered. Of course, since he already vaguely knew this was going to happen, he was kind of prepared, mentally at least. Calm, he simply stayed ducked away and waited; perhaps whoever entered did not know he was still here and would leave. If not however; his hand hovered above the hilt of one of his daggers. |

Well, the array of treasure is quite spectacular, but certainly not anything different than what one would expect to find in there. Razarod makes a nod toward the vault, and both the wizard and the night move right in front of the doorway and scan the room from there. While there is definitely someone in the room.... neither of them can be sure about that. Drium has done a good job of concealing himself, and the two of them look back at Razarod, who immediately nods. The unarmed man now reveals himself to have magic capability, as he holds out his hand and a brilliant light spreads out to fill up the room, and the two begin to walk around the room. They stay close together, searching the piles of objects, starting at the front, and working their way around the room. Meanwhile, Razarod, knowing that the corridor leading to this room was clear, decides to go and get more help, and to inform the other guards to begin a search. It seems he's been giving that order a lot these days... But anyway... "You two keep looking... If he's already gone, I need to get the others searching for him." Razarod turns and heads back down the corridor, which slowly snakes and meanders its way back to the castle proper. While he goes to get more help and begin the search, the spearmen and the mage slowly comb through the treasure room in an attempt to discover the crafty intruder before he either gets away, or discovers them... |

For the sake of stealth, Drium did not move from his spot to see where the guards were looking. Instead he closed his eyes completely and began to focus. Listening intently to the sounds of footsteps he gathered that there were only two of them, their location near the door, but he was fully aware that would soon change. There was no doubt in his mind that they would take to thoroughly examining the room and its contents, if not just to see what was missing, but to check and make sure that the thief wasn’t still there; which he was. His ears twitched then as he began to hear a voice and third pair of footsteps, these heavier than the other two, but also moving away from the room. Though he was happy that he only had to deal with these two, what the third person had revealed was cause for alarm. If Drium wanted to get out of here without much trouble, he’d had to act quickly and escape. The demon’s eyes opened then and he looked around from his position, noting the position of the light as his pupils constricted. Drium’s hand clenched around the hilt of his dagger as he felt the two guards approaching, the light that marked their presence getting brighter with each step. However in that same instant, he let it go, a silent snarl appearing on his features. Though it would be much easier for him to simply leap out and slash the duo’s throats out, he couldn’t bring himself to actually do it. He felt as if he would be breaking his own made up rules if he escaped by killing anyone. No, he had to make his way out in the same nonlethal way he made his way in, though that wasn’t to say that he couldn’t leave anyone with something to remember him by. With his detection imminent, Drium tensed, ready to strike. Just as the mage got within range to just about see him, he lunged from his hiding spot, a flurry of hard hitting punches striking the surprised mage in the face and jaw as he suddenly found himself tackled to the ground. It was imperative that he take out the mage first; with Drium’s lack of any real magical defense, it would be a lot easier for him to stand up to a guard who wielded a physical weapon rather than one who relied on magic. It actually took the spearman a second to gather himself as the thief suddenly appeared and took down his teammate. The guard thrust his weapon towards the intruder, who quickly jumped and rolled away from the now incapacitated mage to avoid the blade. The thief jumped to his feet and immediately charged towards the guard, who swung his weapon towards the demon’s head. Drium was fast though and was already beyond the range of the blade itself, but halted as he threw up his arms in order to block the shaft of the weapon from colliding with his skull with his gauntlets. He then grabs the pole and yanks it forward, his unearthly strength causing the guard to lose his balance and lurch towards the demon just in time to catch a headbutt in the nose. Staggering back with his hands covering his face, the guard wasn’t prepared when the demon simply continued the assault and grabbed the nearest object, a chest of gold, and whacked him across the face with it, sending a flurry of gold coin and other precious objects sliding along the ground. For whatever reason, Drium found this to be extremely comical and he couldn’t help but laugh a little at the swollen face of the now downed spearman. Figuring himself home free for now and not really believing himself to have enough time to pick through the spilled treasure, Drium took off out the room and down the hallway. There was a gleeful smile spread across his lips and he gave himself two points on the scoreboard in his mind as he whipped around the corner to begin heading back to the castle and exit. |

The mage screams in both surprise and pain as the demon leaps from his hiding spot and lands a flurry of blows onto his body with all the tenderness of a jackhammer. By the time he hits the ground, all consciousness having temporarily fled his now-limp form, which actually isn't a very long time at all under that assault, the spearman is just now regaining his composure and starting to go on the offensive. The creature is far too fast for him to hit effectively, however, and he finds the weapon used against him, and finds himself on the receiving end of a terribly painful headbutt. It isn't long now until he joins his friend in a blow-to-the-head-induced sleep on the floor, having taken a hit from a chest full of gold to his face. Razarod, far down the hall, does not witness this onslaught against his staff. However, he does pick up a faint sound coming from the hall: The sound of light boot taps, moving very quickly toward him. Perhaps his soldiers coming to tell him they caught the intruder? Razarod comes to a stop so he can await their news. But something just doesn't feel right. His soldier would be louder than that.... And certainly not that fast. The person, or whatever it is, is only a split second away from turning the corner, and the king barely has time to react: All he can do is put his arm out to the side and lean into it, clotheslining whoever it is running around the corner. |

So caught up in his happy thoughts regarding what he just accomplished, Drium had completely forgotten about the large man who hadn’t walked into the treasure room with the guards. To the purple haired demon, he was suddenly the only one in this wing of the castle and all that was ahead of him was his victory hallway to the outside world. His mind went to what he was going to do with the items he had gained; how much he was going to sell them for, what he was going to hoard and what would make a good gift for… With that unfinished thought on the forefront of his mind, Drium turned the corner and something solid smashed him right in the face. Or, rather, he smashed his face right into something solid. Suddenly the thief’s world was flipped upside down and the next conscious thought the cat eared demon was lying flat on his back with his face throbbing. Staring up at the ceiling as it slowly stopped spinning, Drium gave a single cough as reality set in upon him. Immediately his hands went up to grab his face as if the motion would lessen the pain that suddenly erupted there. The demon’s rust colored eyes then traveled down his nose to the hulking figure hovering overtop of him. At the sight of him, which Drium couldn’t actually make out in his current state of mind, he started, renewed strength surged through him. Rolling backwards, Drium then flipped to his feet. Within moments his daggers were drawn and held in a defensive position as he stared down this new imposing obstacle. Slowly he started backing up and attempting to ignore the pain as his face contorted into a snarl. ”What a cheap trick…” |

Sure enough, someone almost immediately comes around the corner at high speed and smashes face-first into Razarod's outstretched arm. Now that the intruder has been momentarily floored, the King has a chance to get a look at him: Mostly humanoid in appearance, except for the horns, and the second pair of ears, which are oddly catlike in shape. Judging from the speed at which this.... person? was running through the corridors, he is obviously faster than ordinary humans, and also appears to be rather strong, which would explain how he was able to knock so many guards out alone. But Razarod has little time to think, or do anything else, as it is only seconds before the intruder leaps to his feet, in apparent pain, but also in apparent anger. Razarod quickly pulls out his sword as the creature produces a pair of daggers. It speaks to him in an almost bestial tone, to which Razarod replies "Heh. Maybe you should watch where you're going. Or better yet, not have shown your face here..." the King of Ankgar has not even finished his sentence before he has lunged at the intruder, becoming simply a flash and black, red, and navy blue as he quickly closes in on Drium, as his sword, which becomes just a flash of gold to the eye, makes its way towards Driums body. At the same instant as he lunges, the King's hands take on a green glow, and a pair of thick, thorny vines shoots out of the floor and they begin to quickly wrap themselves around Drium's legs, going about up to the knee. |
