Drake was lost. Lost in anger, trying to mask the pain and confusion. The hollowness that was slowly filling him. It was now the only thing keeping the darkness back. The only thing. Drake's true self was lost, he was a being of pure anger. All of it directed toward Drium, for hurting Valerie... And yet, the reason was now lost as well. He didn't even care when Valerie tried to explain, though it most likely would have made very little difference anyway. Drake and Valerie's steps echoed through the streets of Eldahar. And then when they walked through the desert, there was no echo, though it still stood out in the silence. The boy with flaming golden eyes was nothing except the anger. Anger caused by the pain of one he cared about so much. And yet, more pain, which he'd been able to tell was separate, had confused him, filled him with sorrow. Which led to anger, which led to drowning in hatred, like despair drowned in sadness. Drake followed without a word, until they reached their destination. The sun would be rising soon, but that didn't even matter. Drake simply stared into the darkness beyond the entrance to the prison. Then he silently began walking in, hoping to perhaps find a trace of that whom he now hated so much. His steps echoed far more than they had in the city. Through the emptiness, the darkness. And through the void that was now his soul... |

Valerie sighed as she walked her hood up, tears falling down her face. Drake was losing himself, he wasn't Drake right now, and she didn't know what else to do. Last time she had kissed him to snap him out of it, but right now she couldn't even think of that. The feelings she had for him were there, but dying. He didn't love her. Maybe he cared for her, wanted to protect her, but when he could never say the words, when he could never show it, she knew it wasn't real love. She took another step and stepped into the familiar gloom that was the prison. Cringing back she stared at the cells around her, looking at the blank expanse of wall that he had stabbed her again, looking down towards the stairs she had been thrown down. Looking past that, though unable to see it in the darkness to the room that he had violated her in. The reason why she had all these scars on her body. She flinched back and turned from the site of the prison turning instead to look at Drake. "Drake dear." She whispered reaching out and touching his arm. Seeing his golden eyes, he was lost to the rage. "This is the place I last saw him.." She said softly. "I ran off that way, and he went the other way." She said pointing. "I never saw where he went after wards." She whispered looking at him carefully. "Oh Drake, please don't be to angry." She whispered moving a bit closer but moving back quickly averting her eyes from him. |

The darkness of the abandoned prison was comforting. It was silent, cool, away from the harsh elements of the desert above. It offered the demon time and space to think about what he wanted to do… And what he has already done. He shook his head, dismissing the lesser thoughts. There was no point in feeling bad about the past; it could not be changed. He sighed, opening his eyes to stare at the bare ceiling. Deep in the prison, past the initial rows of cells, the space opened up into a large central room. That is where he was taking up residence for now; his hideout of sorts. It was on his agenda to find a better place however, to find a place somewhere that he could really call his own and stash all the wonderful plunder that he wanted. He could furnish it too. At the moment this prison was too out in the open and dragging anything to it would be a hassle. Drium stretched out his limbs as he lay on the cold prison ground. There wasn’t a place to sit and he found that the best thinking was to be done while lying down anyway. How long he had been there and in that position he wasn’t sure. Time was a thing he stopped paying attention to long ago and the darkness and silence didn’t help when one was trying to keep track of hours and days. Just as he was thinking he should try and find something to eat, a disturbance in the silence caught his attention. His ears twitched at the sounds of echoing footsteps coming from one of the entrances. The demon sat up, turning towards the direction the sound had originated. His brow rose, there was someone here. Curious, he stood his feet, assuming the sounds to have come from some random adventure or wanderer looking for shelter. Silently he made his way towards the sound, making sure to stay as much out of sight as possible considering the linear design of the place. What he came to see when he finally reached his destination and the object of his curiosity finally came into view, he started, surprised. “Valerie?” ”What are you doing here?” He asked her before suddenly noticing her dragon companion. ”And…. Drake.” His voice suddenly lost the curious tone at that, instead sounding very bored and dry. He wasn’t actually annoyed to see Drake there, he didn’t care really. His eyes left the duo, shifting to one of the cells as he began to lean his shoulder against it. ”Well… Either way, welcome to my temporary abode… What do you want?” |

Drake heard Valerie speaking. But he didn't care. And he didn't listen when she said not to be too angry... It was too late for that. Anger was all he had become now. The last thing holding back the darkness, but for how long was a question that had an unknown answer, but likely not a pleasant one. Drake thought he vaguely heard a sound. So soft, it would have been literally undetectable to a human's senses... But not Drake's. He wasn't human, even if he looked like one apart for a couple of... Unusual features. Well, when he wasn't in dragon form. Then he didn't look anywhere near human... Right now, Drake looked more like a demon, with the utter hatred that filled the flames in his eyes. Drake's gaze shot toward where he had thought he heard the sound from. Had it only been his imagination? No... It hadn't been. A voice came through the darkness, and Drake thought he saw who it had come from... Drium. The one he would destroy, the one the anger his entire being had become was directed at. Drake stood with his eyes closed as he was shaking with rage, listening to how calm Drium was... When Drium asked what they wanted, Drake's eyes snapped open again. He began, "What I want..." Then there was a flash of light, and he was in dragon form. Is for you to DIE!!!! he finished. Drake flew straight toward Drium with his speed fully boosted by magic, as would his strength be when his claws struck out. He was breathing flames as he flew at incredible speed toward the demon, he was going all out... |

Valerie turned around when she heard a voice. Drium?! Oh no! "Drium run!" She yelled out turning to look at Drake and seeing him shift into Dragon form. He looked like some sort of demon, different then Drium, but still, a demon. It scared her she had never seen Drake that angry. "Drake no! Please stop!" She cried out looking from first Drium then to Drake. She pushed herself against the side of the prison though, he was big and she had to slip into one of the cells in fear of being hit by Drake's wings. Valerie watched as Drake yelled out that Drium had to die. "No Drake!" She cried out running to the entrance of the cell and pushing into the hallway again. "Stop it! No!" She yelled out running to stand in between Drium and Drake so that she was the only thing to keep them from killing each other. Drium was her mentor, Drake was her friend. What was she going to do?! She threw out her hands so that she had her palms facing each of them. "Please don't fight! Not because of me Drake!" She yelled out running to him and putting her hand on his shoulder shivering with fear, he wasn't in the right mind. He was angry, really angry. She hated to see him so angry, over what had happened to her. She couldn't believe it, this wasn't Drake. She took a few steps back away from him, afraid to get hurt by who she thought was a friend. |

He looked back at the duo when Drake began to speak, originally thinking that maybe they just wanted to talk t him about something. He saw the look in his eyes, and raised an eyebrow; curious as to what his issue was. His mind tried to flick through what possible reason the dragon could have to be mad at him. Last the demon could remember with his dealings with the dragon was with the conflict at the tavern. With that thought, it was Drium, if anyone who should be looking angry, not the dragon guy, but he had put that in past. The alcohol hadn’t been that important to him. The demon’s ears flicked as he looked at Valerie who yelled at him to run. Why the hell would he run from these two? They came to where he was after all; why bother tracking someone down if you were just going to have them run away? He was a bit confused now and the dragon’s sudden roar and yell that he wanted the demon to die caught him off guard. He stood there blinking, though instinct had him tense and about to attempt diving out of the way. Until Valerie jumped in front. Was this girl stupid? He doubted the dragon in his currently enraged state would be able to stop himself from barreling the girl over and burning her on his way to reach the demon. He recognized that look in Drake’s eyes, it was one that he was familiar with himself. That was the look of someone who had lost themselves to an inner rage, a primal instinct to rend and destroy. Drium ran forward, not needing more than a couple steps to reach Valerie. He grabbed her by the shoulders and tackled her to the ground and covered her with his own body, though he was sure that regardless she probably would’ve been a hurt by the flames. The demon winced as he felt the heat of the fire breath hit him in the back, along with the dragon’s sharp claws, though he was still able to have them both avoid any major damage. Everything had happened too fast and it only left him with a sliver of time to react. When Drake had flown past him, Drium sat up, though he turned his head to look at where the dragon had gone. “Are you ok?” The question was aimed at the vampire, but he couldn’t pay her any more attention in case the dragon was ready to make another attacking pass at him. |

In Drake's utterly enraged state, he barely noticed Valerie. There was nothing but him, and what he would destroy. He would rip apart Drium. The possibility of losing was simply not there in his shattered and enraged mind, he simply would kill Drium, he had no doubt whatsoever, nor would he understand doubt. Drium suddenly rushed forward as well, toward Valerie, who Drake did notice this time when she was knocked over. Something just barely stirred inside him, and after he passed over the two, he stopped his fire breath. However, there was no hesitation as he whipped around and went right toward Drium again, not stopping his movement even once. Drake charged his claws with lightning as he flew at extremely high speeds toward Drium. Magical energy flowing through him gave him blinding speed and strength enough to damage stone, and that would be combined with electrically charged strikes that could stun most opponents for a second even without the sheer crushing force of the blows. Drake felt his blood pumping through him at high speeds, and the wind blowing by his scales... Or at least, he was moving so fast it felt like there was a strong wind. Regardless, Drake's deadly attacks were now aimed at Drium, with the full power of a dragon's rage behind them. Edited by Drake Aurelis, Jul 19 2009, 05:26 PM.

Valerie yelped when first there was fire coming at her, then Drium! She fell to the ground hard with Drium over her.. protecting her. She whimpered, the fire had singed her arm, making it weird and bubbly looking, but other then that it was fine. "Thanks Drium. I'm fine." She whispered and then saw Drake heading towards them again. "What is wrong with him!" She yelled out and dove into a cage again, watching at the door shut behind her. "Aw crap!" She ran as far away from the door as possible though, Drake was flying at the cage at high speeds and she kept herself away from the door at all costs. He had already hurt her, and she didn't think he even realized it yet. He seemed to be in some sort of enraged fury. It was terrible seeing him this angry. And he probably couldn't even remember why he was so angry. He needed someone to snap him out of it, but she couldn't when he was in his Dragon form, hurtling towards them at the speed of light. She stared in fear at where Drake was flying, at this rate he would crash right into the wall if he hit Drium, either way, he would hit the wall. If Drium jumped out of the way, then the battle would continue, but if Drake hit him, Drium might die, and Drake would be smashed into the wall, meaning, the entire prison might collapse above them. She didn't really have to worry about that, but the other two were living people. Well, Drium sorta was but that wasn't the point! Drake could die if he hit the wall, and there was nothing she could do. Unless the bars of the cage stopped him enough to keep him from getting to badly hurt. This was getting out of hand, and it was all her fault! Someone might DIE and she would have caused it. She felt horrible, completely and totally dreadful, someone might die, and she just hoped they took her out with them, cause if they died she didn't want to survive. She might just go.. stand in the sunlight if that happened. |

Drium didn’t have time to look over his own injuries, let alone Valerie’s. All he knew was that he was hurt and that he had to return the favor. He wasn’t sure who was at an advantage here right now. Drake was large for the prison space, so though he may be able to speed through the halls, when dodged, he might have trouble correcting himself. Drium didn’t feel as if he had any particular advantage either. Though he did know the layout of the prison, it wasn’t going to be particularly easy to dodge the dragon in such close quarters. He heard Valerie state that she was fine and he nodded, seeing Drake begin to head back towards them. Drium wasn’t in the mood for an actual fight, but he would defend himself if he had to. He jumped to his feet and gritted his teeth, preparing for the dragon’s strike by pulling out one of his daggers, having forgotten about Valerie completely. Drium felt he would have to time his reactions perfectly. Though he knew he could take some damage, those claws at such high speed would still cut right into him. When the dragon was close enough, he used the side cage as a jumping off point. He was agile and capable of acrobatic feats which would come in handy right about now. The demon flipped up from the wall, narrowing dodging the dragon’s claws. His arms shot out though, wrapping themselves around the dragon’s serpentine body, causing him to be dragged along for the wild ride. Quickly he wrapped his legs around him before pulling his dagger back and stabbing it up as hard as he could underneath one of the dragon’s scales. He assumed that this wouldn’t do too much damage, but he was hoping that it would at least cause the dragon harm and even better force him back to reality. |

Drake didn't notice Valerie except that now she was out of the way. When Drium avoided his claws, Drake spun around again and took a deep breath preparing to unleash flames. However, at this point, Drium's arms came to wrap around the enraged dragon, surprising him. Drake felt a sharp pain, the demon had slipped a knife underneath his scales! The pain did not snap Drake back to reality. No, it had the exact opposite effect. If you were looking at his eyes, you would see that for just an instant, such a short time you'd think you were imagining it, his flaming slit pupils would turn glowing red, not looking like flames. The golden irises were replaced by pitch black as well, for just that one instant, before they reverted back to their previous state. Drake let out another roar of pain and rage. This time, as loud as he possibly could, an ear-splitting screech with magic infused into it. This was his sonic roar, which could disorient most anything within fifty feet with the sheer amount of head-splitting pain generated by the sound, and being directly next to him in a space like this, which would echo it... Definitely unpleasant, to say the least. Then, Drake took the lightning that he had been focusing through his claws, and focused it to flow through himself, electrifying him. Drium would feel an electric shock pulsing through him and through the knife he currently had stabbed under one of Drake's scales, which would likely leave him completely stunned for one second... Well, assuming he wasn't already stunned and helpless from the roar. |

In the back of his mind, he knew that there was a possibility that his attack would simply further deteriorate the situation. He had been betting it wouldn’t though, that the pain would cause Drake to snap out of it and calm down a little. At least if that happened he could punch Drake in the face and tell him to get out. Still though, when that unwanted possibility came to fruition, he growled in frustration. Now he’d have to rethink his strategy; or at least he would have if the dragon hadn’t burst out into a deafening roar. Under normal circumstances, the demon was immune to magical effects that would disrupt his ability to function. However, because the dragon’s roar was sound based and because the demon was so susceptible to loud noises due to his four ears, the roar actually bothered him. He was not ready such a thing and suddenness of the attack startled him and made the hairs on his nape stand on end. Instantly he gritted his teeth, eyes widening first in surprise before shutting tight in a feeble attempt to mentally block out the noise. He grabbed his dagger and yanked it out from under the dragon’s scales before beginning to repeatedly stab it down in the same spot over and over as fast and hard as he could. The action was more a subconscious physical response rather than something the demon intended to do in response. The way the roar echoed through the enclosed space was no help and actually amplified the attack’s power to the point where he had to stop stabbing. He dropped his dagger as his hands suddenly went to clamp hard over the ears on the sides of his head. Drium was not familiar with such disabling effects and he couldn’t keep his focus enough to stay on top of the dragon. With little more than a quiet, pained groan, he slipped off the back of the dragon, avoiding the electricity that was suddenly redirected through Drake’s own body. Drium fell hard onto his back against the prison ground though he barely noticed, hands still on his ears. The demon writhed on the ground, gritting his teeth hard, unable to do much of anything until the roar came to an end. |

Valerie stared at the fight, when Drium jumped on Drake's neck she cried out and ran to the bars of the cage, only to find that he had smashed the lock in and she was stuck. "Crap." She whispered staring at the fight beyond the bars. "Leave him alone Drium!" She yelled at her hands on the bars shaking them. "Don't do that! You're hurting him!" She yelled out tears pricking her eyes. But then Drake roared. She yelled out in pain and fell to her knees watching as Drium did the same. She clasped her hands over her ears and cried out. Being made for hunting she had slightly better hearing then a normal hearing, and this was torture. She had no idea how bad it must hurt for Drium who had four ears. She cried out in pain as the roar just seemed to continue on and on. She clasped her hands again her ears and slowly opened her eyes to look up at Drake. It was to loud, the echoes made it even louder then it should have been, even though she was sure it shouldn't be THAT loud, in that enclosed space it got louder. Keeping her hands over her ears she pulled herself to her feet and managed to get the door open using her shoulder to press it in and pushing against it. Running she ran to Drium and, taking her hands off her own ears, she helped him cover his other two ears silently. She whimpered in the pain of the roar, but she was pretty much ok. It wasn't like he could pop her eardrums or something. She just kept her hands over the ears he wasn't able to cover and she hovered over him protectively, keeping him safe from Drake. She didn't know what had happened to Drake, he seemed to have gone insane. And she knew it was her fault, but maybe if she would be able to make him stop. "Drake!" She screamed trying to be heard. "Stop Please stop!" She yelled out tears leaking down her face, unable to cover her own ears in her attempt to help Drium. "Stop it hurts Drake!" She yelled pressing her forehead against Drium's shoulder trying her hardest to block the pain out. To block any of it out. It was just to much. |

Drake felt Drium stabbing and stabbing and stabbing and stabbing... If he hadn't already been roaring at the top of his lungs, he would be doing so now. That was it... Drake felt the darkness pulsing... And he didn't have nearly enough of himself left to resist. It flowed through him, and his eyes changed to their demonic state again, this time not changing back. Drium had fallen off, but that didn't matter. He'd still die. Valerie had gotten in the way, and she was shouting at him to stop. Drake did stop, and said, Very well. The roar stopped, as did the flow of electricity he'd had, and he flew further away from the two of them, before he turned back to look at them. The look in his eyes now was not rage, but pure malice, evil... For this was not Drake. It was something completely evil, and the exact opposite of who Drake really was. Its voice was utterly cold, cruel, and malicious, it sounded like nothing Drake would do naturally even in the nastiest of moods, and yet it still did sound like Drake. It is time for you to die, and then everything else! It began focusing power to unleash on the two on the ground. In just three seconds, everything would come to an end... While he had been busy stabbing at the dragon’s scaly backside, he couldn’t hear anything that the vampire said. Her words were drowned out by the roar and as far as he knew, if he stabbed enough times, maybe it would stop. Of course that theory had since been proven wrong and now here he was, literally unable to even think, eyes shut tight while being subjected to the dragon’s vocal assault. Cool hands touched him and he managed to peek open his eyelids to catch a glimpse of what was happening. Drium stared at Valerie surprised for a several long moments, unsure of how to react to her attempting to help him. He could see her mouth moving, yelling at the dragon, but he couldn’t hear a word she was saying and couldn’t focus enough to read her lips either. She pressed herself against him and he shuddered, confused. Wasn’t she the one who brought Drake here? She had wanted for them to fight, didn’t she? Or was it just that now things were getting out of control and she felt responsible… When the dragon stopped roaring, beginning to fly further away, he let his arms drop from the sides of his head and sat up. He shook his head, automatically reaching for and retrieving his dropped dagger before turning to Valerie and offering her a thank you that was perhaps much louder than it needed to be. He slowly stood to his feet, facing Drake’s direction, a look of pure rage apparent in his darkened eyes. The demon’s ears were ringing like crazy, making it impossible for him to hear what the dragon was saying. Despite this, he still noticed the dragon beginning to charge up energy for some kind of attack. Drium motioned for Valerie to move, though he didn’t for the life of him know where she should go, and quickly drew his daggers, spinning them in hand and focusing them with infernal energy. There was no way he’d be able to make it over to Drake fast enough to stop his attack and by the look of it Drake didn’t seem to even care that Valerie was also dead in his sights. Still, the demon figured he had to at least try something and he bolted forward at his top speed, weapons drawn. He didn’t know what he really wanted to do, though he kept his options open, tense and ready to react in a multitude of ways to the attack that was inevitably about to be fired towards him. |

Valerie winced as finally the roar stopped. She still had her forehead against Drium's shoulder. Slowly raising her head she turned to look at Drake. Who was getting ready for another attack. What was wrong with him?! Suddenly Drium was flying away, running at Drake at top speed. Valerie shielded her face. This was bad, whoever hit first.. if Drium hit first then she might live to see another day.. if Drake let go of that beam.. The most she could think of was being even more brutally mutilated then her body already was. But Drake, Drake would get hurt. Right now though Valerie wasn't really thinking of that. Her ears were ringing with the earlier roar, making it hard for her to concentrate on anything for very long. She winced and slid down so her forehead was on the ground. "Oh please don't do it Drake." She heard herself whisper as though that would help her any. Her head felt like there was something banging around in it, it hurt badly and she felt like she was going to go insane from the insistent clanging. She kept her eyes away from the battle raging above her. She had to get out of there, but she couldn't leave her friends. She was torn between helping Drake and helping Drium. It seemed Drium was hurt, and Drake was hurt too! She could smell his blood. His beautiful Dragon blood. That amazing scent made her want to run across the room with Drium, only for other purposes. She grinned and slowly got to her feet ready to go across the room to get some of that blood for herself, before she snapped out of it and fell against the cage again. Then, yelling at the top of her lungs she shouted. "STOP!" |

Drake's rage had evaporated... Now it was replaced by helplessness and fear... Fear for Valerie, as the darkness inside had taken control. Drake's own state of mind had returned to almost normal, but whatever that darkness was, it had control of his body now. Drake tried to break free, but couldn't. The darkness was far too strong, stronger than it had been in his nightmares... Or perhaps, he'd been broken, was still weak from the pain earlier. Drake felt horror when the monster spoke. It was going to destroy... Everything?! After it destroyed Drium...? No, he realized with horrible certainty. It was going to try and kill Valerie! Drake struggled harder, but barely seemed to have any effect. But still, he kept trying... Even as he could really do nothing but watch, helplessly... Drium was on his feet, running toward the possessed Drake. The now dark-eyed dragon only laughed, a menacing, deep rumbling sound that was filled with malice and cruelty. He didn't pay much attention to Drium, though he did keep in mind that he should watch for a change in motion. Instead, he looked toward Valerie, and unleashed a beam of darkness, not heeding her command to stop... Wait, what? Was it... It was attacking Valerie now! No! He would not let that happen! Drake felt new strength from his determination... He would not let Valerie die! NO!!! Drake's voice rang out, this time truly being his own. His eyes returned to their flaming golden from the evil black and red, and the beam stopped after only about one second of the blast. During that second however, Valerie would probably be in immense pain, and afterward, she might feel some slight fatigue since it had attacked her energy directly. Drake fell down to the ground and shifted back to human form. He was kneeling on his left knee, his cape draped over his right shoulder, as he looked defeated. His eyes now returned to just their normal green, and he looked up past Drium, toward Valerie. Drake said in almost a whisper, unsure if Valerie would be able to hear him or not, "I'm sorry Valerie... I never wanted to hurt you, I feel pain when you're in pain..." Then, his eyes looked up to meet Drium's. "Kill me! Kill me now, before it takes control again and destroys everything!" Drake shouted urgently. He was having trouble holding down the darkness again for even one moment, now that it had tasted freedom, it wanted more, and was far stronger than it had been before... Drake refused to let it free. He would die before he let it hurt anyone else! For if it got free, it could do far more damage than all the bandits he'd ever met combined... And he refused to let that happen. No cost was too great to prevent such mass destruction, he would gladly have erased himself from time if it would have prevented that monster from coming into being as well! That monster that was sealed inside him, struggling to break free... Whose power grew even as his own did... Edited by Drake Aurelis, Jul 24 2009, 09:04 PM.

Valerie watched at that thing in Drake's body look at her instead of Drium. Drium was directly attacking it and it targeted her! She yelled out when suddenly she was hit by something that was the worse pain she'd ever felt. Worse then sun because sun hurt her skin, not her bones. Sun didn't make her skin feel like it was on fire, didn't make her bones feel like they were broken and mended again in the matter of a second, over and over. Valerie lay gasping on the ground when the pain disappeared. She felt so weak, so useless now. She had heard Drake's yell of NO! Was he like her? Did some darkness control him to? She hissed softly in pain as she forced herself to sit up. "Don't kill him Drium! Please!" She sobbed falling over again. She felt so weak, and lifeless, drained of her energy like it had been sucked out. Drake was human again, she saw it, her eye site blurry, but she could see it. "Drium, please it wasn't him attacking you." She whispered slowly getting to her feet, using the bar to help. She felt achy all over, tired, sore. It hurt, it hurt a lot. Kind of like she had been hit by a truck in the pure sunlight. Small flashes of pain hit her after wards before slowly dying down into a dull ache. She stood there, using the bar to keep her upright. "Please don't kill him Drium." she whispered and stumbled over tripping over her cape and she fell in front of Drake onto her knees. Drium was behind her though and she turned to look at him. "Please don't hurt him, look at his eyes, it's Drake." She whispered crawling forward so that she could grab his hand. It hurt, she was tired, sore, and she felt like she had just run a few miles, but his hand in hers made her feel so much better, more awake, less hurt. That little bit of warmth as she closed her hand over his protectively, giving his hand a small squeeze she turned to look at Drium her eyes hard. "Please don't hurt him." She whispered staring at him. |

He ignored Valerie, but wasn’t sure if that was merely because he couldn’t hear her over the ringing in his ears or because he was temporarily blinding himself with anger. The dark laugh the dragon gave did nothing to deter him; in fact it made him want to slice him up even more. Drium honestly didn’t care one way or the other about Drake, but if the dragon wanted to play the ‘I’m an evil badass’ card, he’d see no foul in doing everything possible to cause the male grievous bodily harm. Drake fired his attack and the demon flinched, moving as if to counter. He had no need however as the beam simply rushed passed him, striking the defenseless vampire behind him. Drium skid to a stop, surprised and caught off guard as he shifted to turn around and watch just as Valerie crumpled to the ground in a heap. The demon was actually at a loss for what to do; the situation at the moment had become confusing and beyond his ability to predict. His ears flicked and he turned again to watch as Drake, too, collapsed to the ground. He shifted to his human form and Drium blinked, wondering what he was up to. With a narrowed stare that hid his confusion he looked at Drake, easily able to hear his whisper before the two locked eyes. A brow rose in response to the dragon’s request. “It?” He asked curiously, though at the same time he wasn’t planning on allowing the dragon to live long enough to finish the explanation. That is, until Valerie said something and caught his attention. The demon said nothing as he watched Valerie limp over past him, falling before the now human Drake and pleading with him not to do anything to hurt obviously confused and vulnerable dragon. That was going to be a hard request to honor; the dragon had done more than enough to warrant being killed as slowly as possible in the demon’s eyes. However, he would consider Valerie’s words, even if it were only because the two were bound by circumstance. Drium paused, rust colored eyes moving from Valerie to Drake and back again, his face completely blank as his mind worked, deciding over what to do. The demon gritted his teeth and roughly turned his head away from Valerie, his grip on the daggers tightening as he suddenly felt his anger resurging. “You bring this uncontrollable idiot here to kill me, and then beg me to spare him after he turns on you…” He whispered, glaring, almost shaking with anger, his response clearly a resounding ‘No’. As if to solidify this point, he took a step forward, “I should kill you too while I’m at it!” The demon’s leg shot out suddenly, sending the bottom of his boot to the female’s head. This was no time for him to be feeling sorry or compassionate for either of them he figured. She had brought Drake here for the purpose of hurting him, he was sure of it, there was no other explanation. Now here she was trying to protect the dragon after her plan was beginning to fall apart. The utter nonsense of the entire affair was enough to make him laugh. Without paying any more attention to what happened to the female, Drium turned and lunged at Drake, more or less stabbing wildly. He didn’t really much care where he stabbed the dragon at this point and was fairly sure that the dragon’s condition would leave him in a state that would be unable to resist the brunt of his attack. |

Drium seemed confused at what Drake had said. Drake began trying to explain, "A demonic power sealed inside..." However, he then realized that Drium wasn't pausing to wait for the explanation. Perhaps that was for the best... Drake resigned himself to death, while still fighting down the power that wanted to take control again. It would be over in just a moment, he wouldn't hurt anyone again because of his weakness and that demonic creature sealed inside... But then Valerie interrupted, drawing the attention of both Drake and Drium. She didn't want Drium to kill Drake, he hadn't really been the one attacking... She rushed over, and continued pleading. Drake shook his head, "No... If it takes control again, I could destroy so much! I won't let that happen, I refuse to! Just... Let me die, so I won't hurt anyone ever again..." He was still struggling to keep that horrible power down. It wanted to be in control, so badly... Drium seemed to pause, thinking about it... He would still kill Drake. The dragon in human form didn't resist, he was ready for that... But not what came next. Drium stepped forward, threatening to kill Valerie, and even kicked at her. Drake couldn't believe it... For just the one instant, he was shocked, and the dark power flared up again... But he wasn't going to give in to it! No... Drake would kill Drium! He didn't care if he died doing it, that was better! Drake got up and drew his swords with finality and determination as if he knew this would be his last battle... Because as far as he was concerned, it was! Drium was already stabbing wildly at Drake... Who barely even felt it. The pain was irrelevant, all that mattered was that Drium would die... That the demon wouldn't hurt Valerie! Drake was enveloped by rage once more, but not like before... No, he was still there. His eyes were golden and flaming again, but these flames... They were far more intense! The flames of someone who has someone they want to protect at any cost, flames of determination, refusing to lose this! Drake let power flow through him full strength, so his speed would be incredible, and his strength... Well, he could dent stone with his bare hands like this, just imagine his swords through flesh! Drake smashed down with his longsword from his own shoulder, aiming for right between Drium's shoulder and neck. At the same time, his shortsword slashed so that if the demon didn't somehow move in time, he'd be slashed right in half. Drake's swords had lightning flowing through him, and he was using up incredible amounts of energy, but since he was going to die anyway, what did it matter? Drake would wipe Drium from existence... For Valerie, the one he would gladly give up existence for... Drake wouldn't let this monster kill her! As Drake attacked, he spoke, the fire of his determination showing through in his voice, "I remember... I remember why I came to kill you! For what you did to Valerie... You hurt her, and I'll never let you do it again! I may die here, and I don't care, but one thing is for certain... So will you!" Drake meant every word he said. He was absolutely determined to stop Drium! He didn't care if it killed him, he wanted to stop that monster sealed inside him as well. Drake said to Drium, growling, "So bring it on! It won't matter! You will NOT hurt Valerie again!!" |

Valerie saw that Drium was angry, and he had a reason to! She hadn't actually expected him to be here! She had thought Drake would fly off in search of him and give up. But Drium being here.. it was horrible! Suddenly she was kicked in the head. She gave a shout of pain as boot collided with skull and she felt stars pop in front of her eyes. She fell limp on the ground and could barely see what was going on around her until to late. Drium was attacking Drake.. and Drake was fighting back. "No! Stop!" She cried out and was suddenly in the middle of the fray. One of the swords found her arm. And went right through it. She yelled out but stood there firm. The pain that coursed through her body was nothing, the pain in her head, nothing. She was protecting them both, as a dagger found her ankle. She cried out in pain again but stood still holding firm. "STOP FIGHTING!" She screamed tears leaking down her cheeks from pain. "Please.. please stop fighting!" She didn't know how much long she could stand this, the sword was barely in her arm, having passed through the flesh around the bone, but the dagger was in deep in her ankle. The most her arm was doing was keeping the sword from hitting Drium. Her ankle kept that dagger unable to be pulled out easily so that Drium couldn't attack Drake with that one. "Stop it!" She felt the tears pour down her face and then her leg gave out, she fell onto one knee and hissed in pain, the dagger stuck there, the sword in one arm. She had pushed herself between the two fighting men to save her friends. "You two are IDIOTS!" She yelled the last word, her voice echoing through the prison. "You think that just because you can fight you should?! Idiots!" She cried out in pain again and bent over slightly, they really hurt. She would need like, ten humans to patch up these wounds. "I don't care who attacked who first ok! I don't care what happened back then! It's all under the bridge! I've passed it! Drake, I brought what Drium did to me upon myself, that was my problem.. Drium, I didn't mean to bring Drake here to you, I thought you had left and was only hoping he would see you weren't here, take off and burn his rage out looking for you!" She said gasping in pain the tears trickling onto the floor now as they slid off her chin. "Please.. stop fighting." She said pain coursing through her body. The one that hurt the worst was her arm, closer to the head she was suspecting, but it hurt like crazy. |

Stabbing the dragon made him feel a lot better than he originally thought it would. There was just something about having his knife tear through Drake’s skin that just eased his frustrations. It didn’t matter whether or not Drake himself actually reacted to the damage done; as long as there was damage done. The demon paid no attention to Drake’s words. Whether this was because he didn’t actually hear them or because he just didn’t care was anyone’s guess. The only thing on his mind at the moment was making sure the only thing left of Drake was a bloody mess on the floor. Drium had just jumped back to dodge Drake’s sword swings and was about to connect with a counterstrike when Valerie jumped between them. Drium had all but forgotten about Valerie until she threw herself in his line of sight. His eyes sparked with surprise at her action, but he was unable to cease his movement in time to keep from stabbing her in the ankle, After listening to Valerie speak, Drium’s eyes fell to the ground for a moment. Suddenly the tension, anger and surprise from his face and body melted away, leaving behind a feeling of calm determination and resignation while seeming to lose the will to fight against Drake. His eyelids became half lidded, the nearly pupil less irises behind them becoming a few shades lighter than usual before he looked back up at the two of them. Though his weapon had been stuck into her ankle, he managed to remove the dagger from the girl’s frame with a level of technique, strength and quickness that made that serrated edges feel almost nonexistent. He sighed before speaking, his voice low, calm, and reserved. “I am tired of you trying to play the victim for the sake of being a victim… You want to be a martyr, Valerie?” He questioned gently, the question rhetorical as he didn’t allow her time to answer. Instantly the curtain of serenity fell, revealing the beast of rage that was merely waiting for a second act. “Then let me make you a saint!” With a speed before untapped, his hands swapped daggers, arms crossed to either side of his target. Without a moment of hesitation, he swung the serrated edges in a scissoring motion towards the girl’s throat, dual streaks of infernal red clearly outlining their paths through cold flesh and bone. For a split-second after, the vampire seemed no worse for wear, that is, until the demon sent a boot towards the small of her back. The jarring kick sent the lifeless body falling forward onto the dragon while the disembodied head fell back to thump against the floor. |

Drake was unable to completely stop his swords from hitting Valerie in time, but he at least managed to avoid letting them go in too deep. "V-Valerie?!" he let out, surprised, "What are you doing?!" She wanted them to stop fighting...? "But...!" However, he cut himself off. If she really wanted to stop fighting... But then, Drium spoke. "What?!" Drake cried. He dropped his swords and tried to pull Valerie out of the way in the split second that he realized what Drium was doing. But he was too late... "Valerie?!" Drake cried out, unable to believe it, as his eyes changed from gold to green... No... She... She was dead? He slumped to the ground, tears dripping down his face already. No... Valerie... Suddenly, Drake's eyes turned golden again, infinite rage, more than he'd felt even when he'd been consumed... But he was still there. The rage didn't replace his being, it fused with it, merged with it... "You BASTARD!" Drake screamed at the top of his lungs, leaping up at utterly blinding speed, punching Drium's face with incredible force that probably could very well have put a hole in one of the walls here. Forget anything else... The amount of power flowing through Drake with his infinite rage that came from sorrow was beyond anything he'd felt before... And it was all directed toward Drium. Drake no longer resisted that demon inside him, anything was worth the power to kill Drium. Anything. Drake's eyes didn't become black and red... Not quite. Instead, they hovered directly between light and dark, but not as if unsure. As if he was both the real Drake and Dark Drake at once. He then spoke to Drium "I'll kill you! I'll kill you for what you did to Valerie, I'LL ERASE YOU FROM EXISTENCE!!!!!!!!!" Everything except "for what you did to Valerie" which was Drake's voice alone was... Two of Drake's voices at once. One was really Drake, infinite rage. The other was the darkness inside, malice, arrogance, desire to destroy but without rage, only evil... And Drake wasn't resisting. Nothing mattered anymore now that Valerie was gone, except killing Drium. He felt nothing else than that, didn't want to feel anything else than that. Lightning flowed through Drake, and visibly appeared around his hands... As eerie red energy. He charged forward, and unleashed a blinding flurry of blows on the demon, at a speed that... Well, who could say. Certainly, Drium wouldn't even know what was coming, much less dodge it. And he didn't, who would have been able to with the full will and power of both Drake and the demon in both the speed and power of the blow... Every blow. The entire scene was beyond precise description, but Drake soon reduced Drium to a twisted mess, every single bone in his body broken. At this point, Drake picked him up with his left hand. "Die." came one single word from him, before he threw Drium, delivering one last punch as the demon flew through the air and collided against the other side of the cave. The entire place shook... And stone collapsed from the ceiling, burying Drium. It didn't block anything else, just buried Drium. Drake almost wanted to try shifting into dragon form and seeing if his fire could melt the rocks and reduce Drium to non-existence, but the dark force inside had other plans... Drake didn't resist. As long as Drium was good and dead, that was all that mattered... And nothing, nothing else now that Valerie was gone. Drake quickly felt his anger turning into sorrow, and felt himself drowning... Deeper, deeper than before. Far deeper than when he'd harmed Valerie himself... For this time, he couldn't save her, when she was right in front of him. And she was dead. There was no worse feeling. None. And so, Drake didn't care as his body walked outside, and shifted into a black dragon form, and his eyes shifted completely to the demonic black and red. He cared so little, he didn't even see, didn't even know essentially. And then the dragon flew off to find people to destroy. Anyone, anything... For the evil had been unleashed, without Drake to stop it. And now, the black dragon would destroy so much, just as the one it had been imprisoned within had always feared... But no longer cared. ((OOC: I had permission to beat Drium up like that... And I have to say, it feels so very, very good <.< )) |
